It's a masterwork kit. If you want, we can keep the survival guide (which gives the bonus, IIRC) in my library with my other books for simplicity. Also, I'll put my grooming kit in the bathroom for everyone to use. I do recommend someone buy a shaving kit to complete the set :) Also, the sheet works and I added the grooming kit contents :)
Oz Folklore |
I Added the Like about the rose to the game play Tab above your names. Also A link to it is now under my name for easy access for you.
Arioch the swift |
I also added a tab called "Shopping List". I think I got everything that was mentioned in the game tab.
Some things were left in uncertainty, such as how much food do we need for a round trip to Wer Zhaan? If I'm not mistaken we are with 11 people, 2 large animals & 2 small ones (am I forgetting any?)
Also how many sets of arrows/bolts do we need?
Who uses what type of ranged weapon?
Personally my character only uses ranged when necessary and when he does it is either chakrams or alchemical thrown weapons.
For that matter, anyone planning on dabbling in alchemy? Would make for cheaper consumables like alchemist's fire and the like.
Freyja* |
Freyja uses a bow. As a long term goal we might want to fully equip a weapons locker with things a boat might need. I am thinking boarding pikes for one. But am still unsure about the upper level of the ship and doors the lead outside. Is that upper level open to the sky? I do no think so but am unsure. Is there a deck on the outside of the ship where we could be defending the ship from? Can enemy board us and find purchase on the hull?
Tessara - Conjurer |
I'd invest into Alchemy, but I'm already maxed out on skills per level. Hell, my skills are already a mess because I wasn't sure about the kind of character I wanted to make. I take I can't reallocate them for free, can I, GM? With enough money, I could just transfer my Fly points to Craft, but that'd cost 200 GP alone. And I also want to transfer my Knowledge (Nature) points to Knowledge (Local), I think, though I could also just transfer them to Craft, instead. We have so many character, but I am not sure what is covered.
Arioch the swift |
Looked quickly over the characters and noticed we have 3 people without ranged weapons, 4 bow users, 1 heavy crossbow user (who also uses chakrams), 1 sling user, 1 chakram user and one unknown in Mikal Dusk (as I did not notice any equipment on his sheet)
Which means we'll need more arrows than bolts :)
And seeing as Shien has offered to craft arrows part of the shopping list has changed into the base materials for arrows & heavy crossbow bolts, maybe some extra chakrams? Also, do we want more special arrows like cold-iron? blunt? adamantine? ....
Could someone edit the shopping list in the google doc. I'm going to be unavailable for a while.
Does anyone have an idea how much food we'll be needing to buy?
Freyja* |
Cold Iron arrows cost double normal arrows, but are still cheap. I say we buy only cold iron. If we need silver or adamantine arrows the best bet is to apply weapon blanch to them.
As for food. Lets buy a week's worth of stuff that would slowly go bad and stock up on non-perishables and water. I say get at least a month's worth and maybe more. Oh, and rum. For some reason I feel we must have rum.
Tessara - Conjurer |
IIRC, we each will probably eat an average of 4 pounds of food per day on an average day. Or maybe that's 4 per meal? And then on an adventuring day, probably more, right? So that's, let's say, 5 * 11 = 55 pounds per person per day and 3300 pounds for two months. At an average of 2 CP per pound, that's, what 66 GP for two months of food? But we'll have to cast lots of Purify Food and Drink on it, I think, so it doesn't rot away. So just get 3300 pounds for 66 GP.
Tessara - Conjurer |
Rumboozle is 2 SP per pound, and I imagine 10 pounds will suffice, so just get 2 GP worth of it. And then there's wine for 2 SP for six pounds, but I imagine it's a lot denser than Rumboozle. Personally, I'd stock up on Mead (1 GP for ten pounds), with some Wine, common (1 GP for 30 pounds), and then some Dwarven Stout Ale (4 SP for 10 pounds). Though maybe we should forgo the mead, or substitute it for Grog (1 SP for 10 pounds).

Ugh, so it turns out I can't actually take ranks in Fly! G%!!$~n these confusing rules. It also turns out I sort of really hate Pathfinder because it's confusing. I also kinda love it, for a reason no one can explain. Anyway, that whole alchemist problem can now be solved, assuming the GM doesn't veto me for making so many changes to my character because for as long as I've played Pathfinder, I still know surprisingly little about the system. Sorry, GM! The skills should be OKAY now. At least now I only need to spend 200 GP to retrain my Nature over to Local, and transfer one point of Cook to Gambling. If this is a problem, GM, I am very, VERY sorry. Please don't veto me :(
Eleanis Riasky |
Huh, I think you can put all the ranks you want in Fly. You just have to get some means of actually Flying. Like the fly spell and then your ranks in Fly will kick in to make you accomplished at it rather than clumsy.
Freyja* |
Yes, you cannot take ranks in Fly until you can fly. So for us more mundane races that means level 5. Unless you have some racial way to fly the game designers have tried to limit the ability to fly to 5th level.
Oz Folklore |
Tessara Feel free to changte your sheet i am a very lenient Dm I am here to make everyone have a good time not to force you to fight for how you want you character to be. this is gonna be a very fast lvling Magic Adventure will be running a loot thing i made up so magic will be a flowing and on top of that it wont all be fighting. So Hope we got some Puzzlers. i use fly like falling good think toy story. once you can fly actually it become a move speed type thing.

I found the citrus fruit, it's in the list on the bottom of this page.
It's 3 CP/pound.
I think food for a month(4 weeks) should be sufficient right now. (We also need to store it, and even though we have 2 clerics and a druid. I think they have better things to do then sit in the pantry purifying food every day after a certain point ;)
Seeing as Teleron has a ring of sustenance, that means :
5*10*28 = 1400 pounds of food at 2 CP/pound --> 28 GP
How many citrus do we need?
Animal feed costs 5 CP/day, large animals other then horses need twice this amount, so :
2*28*2*5 CP = 5 GP 6 SP
I don't know how it scales down, seeing as we have 1 tiny & 1 diminutive to feed as well.
Or we could go about it this way (if Oz agrees with it of course):
Let's say we maybe are able to make a nice deal with the trader's of Averion through Freyja's charming personality. We get a bulk package for 50 GP, which contains everything we need for 4 weeks. With that I mean various types of foodstuff (perishable and non-perishable), spices, fruit, water, alcohol (various kinds), ...
I just suggested this, because I don't think it was Oz's plan to focus on and go into the minute details of whether or not we are eating our fruit and vegetables daily ;)
I checked the shopping list and we have more than enough money (due to Siri's, Hal's and my loan + the money Tessara gave for the books) to buy the food, materials for 180 cold-iron arrows & 60 cold-iron crossbow bolts, 10 chakrams, the 4 requested Adventurer's chronicles, surgeon's tools, 1 healer's kit and a shaving kit.
We also have enough for either the alchemist's lab [not counting the price for materials in order to actually craft] (non-portable version as I believe we're not planning on crafting alchemy outside the ship) or the portable altar.
Of course, some other people offered to loan some more money, so that would get us both :)
Just let me know what you all think, hope the shopping list in the google doc is a bit clear for everyone :)
Oz Folklore |
You Are correct food although sometimes i make a big thing about it but with 11 people I am not gonna be stopping and reminding everyone they need to eat. Now if You don't eat for a few days I might tell you you are felling weak But I feel like everyone will remember if one person does.
Arioch the swift |
But are you ok with the concept of just having a fixed price for 4 weeks worth of food/drinks of a reasonable quality, so that we can just opt to buy a batch approximately every 4 weeks (unless adventure or other things prevents us from doing so, due to not having any populated islands nearby, in which case we need to rely on survival skills and trail rations?). In this way we would not have the need to keep track of every orange or potato we have laying around the ship, using it more as an abstract concept. So we just need to keep track of "x days of food in storage". Which would make it similar as the other items we are keeping track of (ammunition, alchemical items and other consumables). It would also be easy to have events that diminish or replenish this supply.
Here are some examples of both :
- We come across another group of adventurers, say 5 of them, and we decide to hold a feast in their honor. Food supply goes down by 1 extra this day, even though it were only 5 extra mouths to feed, parties usually have an excess amount of food over what would be required to have enough sustenance.
- We find a lush forest island filled with wild life and fruit bearing trees/bushes. We decide to spend a day hunting/foraging to refill our supplies, we add x days to our food supply, depending on success.
What do you think?
Oz Folklore |
You know what that sounds good to me. But everyone feel free to roleplay some eating Lol.
Arioch the swift |
Oh definitely planning on doing that. Eating and drinking is an important part of the adventurer/pirate/airship/... lifestyle ;)
Tessara - Conjurer |
What do you mean by magic flowing freely or whatever, BTW? Does this mean I don't have to prepare spells? Or I don't have to worry about preparing spells only on days like this where I'm not getting into fights?

Voucher, ey? That means I could...forge vouchers for free spells (or at least discounts)? Interesting... Something tells me that Linguistics could be very handy to have.

Sorry about triple post spamming. The Paizo website messed up and I didn't even think that message was sent, much less sent three times. And then I couldn't even access it for like two hours. But yeah, just letting you know it was a network error or something.

Think it was some forum error. Couldn't access it for a while either.

I am trying to get my hands around the physics and known history of this world. I am not after spoilers, only what is general knowledge by most everyone who has been alive for the past 25 years. I'd appreciate it if you can fill in some blanks for me Oz Folklore. I realize some of this might be considered folklore or myth and therefor might not be 100% accurate. I have grouped my questions into board categories.
The Land and Sea
1) How long ago do we believe people moved to the skies?
2) Are there stories about people living on land or at sea today?
3) How far down is the land/sea? Do people go down there for any reason? Is it safe?
4) Do we know if people study the slime? Is it considered dangerous? \
5) Are there cases, or stories of cases where the slime has spread to a sky ship or sky city?
Ships and locomotion
1) What do we believe holds ships aloft? And are all ships pretty much believed to be held aloft the same way?
2) How common are ships at our city? Do dozens come and go each day?
3) In general what are the sizes of these ships? Do they look like sailing ships with rigging?
4) How fast are these ships and how is speed measured?
The Rose
1) I have asked a couple times already but does the Rose have a deck that is open to the sky?
2) If not, can we stand on the outside hull while the ship is in motion? Is there any prevision to do so?
3) Where are the entrances to the ship? How many are there?
Again, I think most of this would be common knowledge to us. Having some of this nailed down would help me enjoy the setting more.
Tessara - Conjurer |
I also have a question: Was the city of Korvosa taken out of the Earth and taken to the skies? And are the islands like Earthen islands like you'd find floating in Minecraft, or are they completely constructed? And if they were built and aren't just floating chunks of rock, what are they made of?
Oz Folklore |
Freyja And Tessara I will answer these questions later tonight/ tomorrow morning going in to work right now.
Arioch the swift |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
So I totaled the shopping list, bought the altar, as we can "use" it immediately, whereas for the alchemy lab we also needed to buy crafting supplies and I think between our characters we currently have a decent amount of alchemical items with us.)
Seeing as there is no price for a non-portable altar, I took the portable one, mainly because non-portable ones are usually made out of stone, are quite heavy and are meant to stay in the place they're put. (Probably why pathfinder doesn't have specific rules for them, maybe in the city building section of ultimate campaign, but didn't feel like checking ;))
Added everything to the rooms they're supposed to be. altar in the prayer room, crafting supplies for ammo in the armory, tessara's books in her library (I suppose it's in one of her 2 rooms?), surgeon's tools in the surgery, ...
I put the food in both the kitchen and the freezer, as it's technically spread out over the 2, depending on what needs to be where.
We just need to update the section in the kitchen and it should update the number in the freezer.

I know I'm still here and ready to go :)
Oz Folklore |
Out of curiosity would you all rather have stuff before island or get there peacfully?
