"Are ye crazy? Do ye have the slightest clue who the officers are?" Sandara asks. "Forging a strong group to stand up to the low lives is a great thing. But every one of the officers could take us on alone. I've seen Peppery Longfarhting throw a magic ball of fire out on the water as a test. It was an explosion so large I believe she could sink ships with that."
Stepping into the room, "Grok likes me at least." walking up to Sandara he takes out 5 gold and hands it to her, "For healing me."
"Nay. Not every one of the officers." Besmara objects. "But I'll make a mental note not ta goad that mage."
"Aye, mayhaps I am a bit crazy. An' the situation we're in we need a bit o' crazy to get out o' it. I ain't gonna be livin me life as no bilge rats swab deckhand! Might be it takes a lil' time but I think tis our only option. For this to work, we will need you ta 'elp us Sandara."
"Can we strap him to a plank and thrown him in the sea?" Besmara asks giving Jarrus a glare. "I'm not planning on settling into that role either. But I'd rather try ta swim home than take on the crew here."
Sandara is irritated "I don't want your coins. If ye're a loyal guy we can count on then sit down. If not ye go somewhere else."
"Your healing let me win. The coins are yours as much as mine. You said you had no coin before." Trytton says standing their, still offering the coins
Sandara accepts the coins. "We should stop that kind of talk now. If the capt'n gets wind of such thoughts our life won't be worth a copper. So let's have some fun before it's time to go to bed - and I don't mean your kind of fun." she tells with a glare at Besmara. "But if ye wanna know how things work on the ship ye can still ask."
"Hey!" Besmara protests and talking to Trytton "If ye can talk Grok into giving some of me stuff back, I have some dice and cards in ma backpack."
Estelle listens to the trade off of the people gathered. She looks all of them slow, sizing them all up.
"Sos we have some gear stowed away, we needs more to bes able to leave this filthy tub of bastards. We justs keeps doin as we are and the chance will come."
Lito accepts the spell pouch with a smile.
Then stays quiet for a bit while the others talk.
If what you say about the officers is true, then we all need to agree to bide our time until we can tell which if the officers can be taken and which ones to avoid. It seems like scuffles with the crew are fine, but killing, stealing, anything that impacts work or the officers is harshly dealt with.
This is a damn pirate crew and sooner or later we will be doing some raiding or pillaging. We may be able to use that to see which of the officers are pretenders and which are the real thing.
Until we know that, can we all agree to watch each other's backs, share extra weapons if we get our hands on them, keep our heads down and shut the hell up about this agreement with anyone outside this room? That be probably our best chance to survive.
"Ye're hot when ye do yer smart talkin'" Besmara smiles at Lito.
Trytton nods at Besmara when she asks about her bag. "I will help only if it ends in the death of the captain. I need no weapon's either." Trytton states simply
While that might be a bonus, I be far more concerned with getting free of this hellhole then taking me personal vengeance now. The officers control too much here, if ye really want to be successful we need to get free and find a place where we have the advantage.
Besmara sighs and gets up and moves to the quartermasters store. Which is of course locked up already. So she checks and finds Grok drinking on the deck. "Hi Grok. I've heard ye might return some of me stuff for the right price. I know ye already locked up the store but I got a sign from Cayden Cailean himself tellin' me that he himself would gift ye with a bottle of fine brandy if ye let me have me stuff." she tells the half orc.
Seeing the scepticism in Groks eyes she adds "Ye know it costs ye nothing ta check but five minutes of yer time. But if ye anger Cayden Cailean and he turns all yer rum to brackish water, ye're screwed!"
Grok listens to the story sitting bored in her corner holding her mug taking a swallow now and then. But the prospective of her rum turning to water has her on her toes in no time. "Ye come with me." she demands dragging her through the galley and to the store where she unlocks the door. "Which is yer stuff?"
"It's a dark red leather backpack. Nothing of great value in it. Just me beauty kit - ye know soap and haurbrush and such - some dice, cards and if I'm lucky they put me daggers and me leather armor in it. Really nothing big." Besmara tells.
Grok checks the locker and pulls out the dark red backpack. She puts it on top of a barrel and opens it. Inside is a grooming kit, some daggers, some dice, a pack of cards, a ball of twine, some chalk and a fine bottle of five year old brandy. Grok takes the bottle out, her face a mix of surprise and disbelief.
"Boah! That's unbelievable! He did it! You got the blessing of Cayden Cailean." Besmara cheers. "Can I have my backpack now?"
Grok might have come to the conclusion that this bottle was in that backpack to start with. But not after the second mug of rum and not with her superstition. She hands the backpack over to Besmara without looking away from the bottle with a blissful grin on her face. "Yeah!"
Besmara takes her backpack. "Wanna come with me? We're going to play a game of cards now."
"Nay. I'll enjoy me blessing alone." Grok replies.
"See ya tomorrow then." She winks at Grok and returns to the lower deck where the others are. On the way she checks her neckline and decides ta open one more button. Maybe that helps to get Lito's attention.
"Thanks for the hint." she tells Sandara as she puts her backpack down. "Who wants ta play a game of cards now?"
Estelle gets up and heads towards the crew quarters, going to bed as she worked to hard all day and needs some rest.
"I cannot get more of an advantage than I have on this boat." Trytton repsonds to Lito, not trying to be mysterious, simply matter of fact.
"How does cards work?"
"What vantage is that? Come down to the bilge and I'll show ye hows to work."
Estelle smiles viciously at Trytton
"Just look how we do it and get in on it once you got it. Blck Jack it is. Who's in?" Besmara replies and deals everyone who wants to play two cards.
Estelle will sit down and wait for her cards.
"I can't show you in here. I can show you in the bilges." Trytton replies
Looking into her cards Besmara states "I'll take another one and you?"
Lito looks curiously at Trytton.
Do you want to show me why down there? It might also be a good chance to look for the stuff down there...
"I'm in." Sandara tells and takes cards too.
"How did you manage to get your stuff so quickly?" Sandara asks. "I'll take another one."
"Nayyyy! I'm out." she states throwing the cards on the barrel in front of her. In sum she is past 21.
Besmara leans over to Sandara wispering to her the answer.
"Bwahahaha." Sandara explodes with laughter. "That's a good one."
"Just a variation of yer great idea." Besmara replies with a wink at Sandara.
Jarrus sits seperate you to the side while people are talking and playing cards and tries working on fixing his pistol. "Gah I needs me kit ta fix this. Hey Sandara ye didn't 'appendage ya see a leather pouch 'o tools when ya got these and the other things didja?" he asks, almost pleadingly.
"I'll take nother one"
Estelle takes a swig of her water, leaning her head against the bulk head. She opens her eyes when Lito talks.
"I dunne think ye understand the man, unless ye like boys as well as I do."
Besmara deals Estelle another card.
"Ah, ye mean this stuff belongs to yer gun?" Sandara replies pulling out a bag
"I will show you if you want as well." Trytton says to Lito, and pointing to Estelle, "She asked, so I was going to show her. If someone looks nobody else watches I can show you here."
"Nay. You're in the open here. There are some others over there and anyone could walk in on us any moment." Sandara objects.
"Then it is the bilges, or on deck if no one watches. But it is best if I am near water."
"I have 20, can ye beat that?" Besmara tells showing her cards. "I wanna see what Trytton does. Judging from his darin' deeds so far and addin' water I bet he'll wet himself."
I gots, 17, I was about to ask fer one more ye impatient swine."
Estelle Grins really large at Besmara, "no disrespect intended me Goddess." She turns to Trytton "I am betting ye will wet yerself as well, lets go now. I can say I am showin' ye how to work the bilge."
"Lead the way."
Jarrus takes his kit from Sandara with a renewed smile on his face. "Aye that be the one! Yer a treasure darlin'! Thank ye kindly." he says and starts workin diligently on fixing his pistol.
When he sees Trytton, Estelle and Besmara stand up he pops his head up "Where ever'one goin? Don' count me out if'n there summin ta see." and with that he hops off the barrel he was sitting on, stashed his pistol and kit inside his shirt and jacket and tags along.
Estelle leads the way down the stairs and into the Bilge, "Dun mind the smell, worse when someone be chained up but knocked out and s~+*s themselves. There be lots of lost items down here to find."
With that Estelle moves over towards the bilge pump and starts to slowly pump
They can see Trytton concentrating as the water starts to rotate in the room, slowly getting faster and faster until it feels like they are being pushed by a very strong man.
Once the water is spinning about Trytton drops start to lift above the surface of the water and spin around him in a maelstrom, before he pulls a large ball of water into the air and flings it against the wall next to Besmara's head
Oh, I can see why ye like the water.
But ye better go easy on the hall, she has more then enough leaks already...
