heheh, thinking of two jacks reminded me of this part of PotC.

Suddenly I want to get a sea monkey or something for Shisen and name him after another PC. xP

Well then we have little Jack and handsome Jack. I really should get a line for him.
Evil grin ;-)

Here, have a proper character sheet and alias. Took longer than I thought to configure this for a Bloodrager. Turns out they don't quite fit the same pattern as paladins and rangers for spells/day.

Ye don't look so little to me, laddie! *smirks and tips his hat*

Cause I still feel a little piratey. A little Shisen RP quote for fun. ;)

"Rules and laws are just suggestions from some flop from somewhere. I never agreed to them so don't expect me to live by them. I live my own way and let others do the same. Until they cross me, then someone is going to start living differently or maybe not at all."

Hmm... Question is is what I want Nicpic to develop into: Full-blown Rogue, or maybe dip later into teh new Advanced Class, the Swashbuckler... ._. Decisions decisions...

But yeah, best of luck to all!

Oh look little jack can speak. But you for sure don´t look handsome to me. Ah... Handsome Jack thats me!

I thought I was the tanky one, but after reading yours, mine might not measure up. And she still has more str than me after being more tanky.

Wait, what did you have as your favored class bonus?

I don't think playtest classes have FCBs.

She can't take the basic 1 skill point or 1 HP?

The Exchange

So I'm going to go out on a limb and say "maybe, probably not". The reason I say that is because only core races are guaranteed a FCB by all classes. Until the ACG comes out we won't know if Merfolk can get a FCB from the bloodrager class or not. I say probably not because uncommon races only have 3-4 classes that grant them FCBs on average. Right now its GM fiat.

On favoured class bonuses. Regardless of race you choose one class to be your favoured class and each time you take a level in that class you can choose to gain a HP or skill rank.

Only when it comes to Alternate favoured class bonuses that some races have no options. Something which I am open to discussion on and creating options there if people want to go that way.

In other news I'm going to go over you guys again tomorrow and I should be choosing my crew and post the roster within 24 hours from now. It's going to be tough.

Edited: Beat me to it :I

The Exchange

Ah, sorry about the confusion there. I'll go back to theorycrafting Molly on hopefully less faulty assumptions. Holy Vindicator of Besmara sounds really fun right now.

According to this, the standard favored class bonuses (1 HP or 1 skill point/level) are still allowed, and the developers are debating allowing players to choose from the FCBs for the classes that inspire the advanced class.

Personally I can't wait to see how the shaman class finishes up ;)

Skill point. 4 base-2 from dumping int+1 from favored class.

Honestly, I first started on this sheet design just so there'd be a space to track favored class bonuses (down on the right, by where the inventory starts), and the rest snowballed from there.

And yeah. I didn't realize it until I was filling the sheet out, but merfolk kinda have ideal stats for bloodragers... if you're cool with basically playing a barbarian with less than a 30' move at least.

Excel spreadsheets are the bomb. There's a lot of times where I'm like "where on earth did that bonus come from?" And then I can just click and see where the cell is pulling data. It's great.

Also I just got the image in my head of a bloodrager mermaid angrily doing "the worm" to get toward their enemy. :D

Well how else would you expect me to get around?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ye remind me of a poem, ya fat lubber!

"There once was a man called Big Jack,
With one quite unfortunate drawback.
Though brutish in size,
With beady little eyes.
Where size counted, he really did lack!"

The burn.

Made me laugh.

fishy back rides... just coil your pretty fishy self all about me and I'll carry you where you need to go *grins toothily*

Legit question: Is it possible for merfolk to ride mounts? Like horses?

@Barnacles: I see nowhere where it says they can't. It'd probably be awkward, but doable...

My two cents, anyway.

I reckon it would be just like riding side saddle.

It's a shame for Merfolk that there isn't a feat that allows them to change between water and land modes,

if you've seen all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies you can click here!:
much like the mermaid in 'On Stranger Tides' ;)

Side-saddle works as a mount concept, though you just need a figurine of wondrous power/mount spell/portable hole etc to ensure you have a horse available at all times!

You could always charm the party caster in to having floating disk prepared, they could ferry you in to melee when needed ;)

There's a spell (fins to feet) and rather cheap magic item (seafoam shawl) to go all Splash if it really comes down a need to have legs on a mermaid, but yeah, sidesaddle seems reasonable enough to me.

The real issue with mermaids and horses is explaining to them that no, it's the females that have the babies.

Ok, I have finally made up my mind. These things are always tough and I hate disappointing people but here are the scallywags that I have chosen for my crew.

  • Rrruh the Catfolk Ninja
  • Sapphire the Aquatic Elf Magus
  • Aria the Merfolk Bard
  • Reinald the Human Fighter
  • Hunter the Hobgoblin Barbarian
  • Alyat the Half-orc Witch

If you guys could post with your aliases in the discussion thread.

Congrats to all who made the cut! May the wind be at your back and your hulls ever full of booty and grog!

Have fun guys!

Yup, enjoy.

Good luck to you.

Have fun folks! Will follow your journey.

Take this in the most complimentary way, since I really, really wanted to play in your game. I am extremely disappointed. :(

Good luck to all you lucky bastards! Have fun and get booty!

I'm disappointed that I had to turn people away :(
I know it sucks to put in that effort but not be able to play.

It's my own damned fault for making a character this awesome. :P

You will have him for the next skull and shackles that opens up.
And even though not picked, it doesn't mean anything is wrong with the character, it just means it is not what the DM was looking for.

Edit: Maybe it was what the DM was looking for and he had to flip a coin or roll a die 4 for close calls. Just don't get discouraged, it's like applying for a job.
