Human

Aria begins casting a spell and Sapphire and Rrruh ready to fight.

The creatures advance towards the group attacking Hunter, Reinald and Sapphire. Reinald gets hit 4 dmg and Sapphire gets criticaly hit 3 dmg and constricted in the creature's grip 4 dmg as it grapples her.

Round 1 begins
Aria - Sapphire - Reinald - Rosie - Hunter - Rrruh - Creatures
Sapphire since you are grappled do you wish to attack the creature instead? Aria Sleep is a 10ft radius burst centered on an intersection. It covers a 4x4 square area minus the corners. I have put an example up on the map, tell me where you want it centered. It will also take your standard action to complete the casting in round 1.

GM rolls:

DM Did my ray of frost hit it?

Sapphire looks very much the worse for wear, struggling in the creature's grip with blood muddying the surrounding water from gashes in her leg inflicted by the creature. She reverses her grip on the knife and tries to drive it in to the creature squeezing her.

switchblade: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Hunter will delay after rhuu has acted, just holding his hand out ready, so that he can hand hunter a weapon as he gets into melee with the the thing with him. flanking would be hard to pull of rhuu, but I'll try my best to see if I'm able, even if that means AOO

May I ask what these creatures look like? giant crab things?

Friend Sapphire! He called moving torwards her after handing the Hobgoblin his nunchaku. He wanted a weapon from him, he half expected to see the fellow smack himself in the face with it. That thing had a hold of friend Sapphire and that just wouldnt do.

He moved over to her and tried to help pry it off.

grapple check?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Not sure what to roll *lawls* I wasnt planning on fistfighting or wrestling crab things this adventure... oh wells If I somehow pry it off next plan is to fling it far far away. I cant move my pretty furred self on the map, could someone who could move me to the left of friend Sapphire? thanks!

Human

It's funny because if Aria targets the one grappling Sapphire it and possibly another could be asleep before anyone else's turn this round. Also if I get home from work and no Aria update im going to keep things moving anyway.

okay, looking at the map, he moved by me as he swam towards sapphire, it looks like he wouldn't be near me. and looking at nunchaku, hunter isn't proficienc, so he will take a penalty

Human

Aria finishes casting her spell, the creature next to Reinald shakes the effect off but the one grappling Sapphire falls under the spells effects and falls asleep. Reinald misses his attack and Rosie moves closer and uses her sling to attack the one next to Reinald 4 dmg and Rrruh moves to Sapphire while Hunter slices a chunk off the one next to him. 3 dmg

Does Sapphire still attack the sleeping one? You could technically move and attack the green one. Also I forgot, you need to make a DC13 fort save or take 1d2 STR damage.

Now the creatures respond, the creature next to Hunter attacks with both its claws, cutting into the hobgoblin's flesh, grabbing onto him and constricting. 8 dmg and grappled. The other two conscious creatures both make their attacks against Reinald but miss.

Bracing herself for the worst, Sapphire is surprised and relieved to find the coils of the creature releasing her as it drifts off in to slumber. Spotting Aria's deft hand, Sapphire nods in appreciation and breathes a sigh of relief. Seeing an opportunity to help her companions, she taps in to her arcane energies and surges through the water with incredible speed, moving to a position next to the greenish creature, with Rrruh the other side. Hunter rages as a free action RRRhuu he growls no not you Rrruh.
fort: 7 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 + (10) = 17
attack: 3 + 2 + 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + 2 + 1 + (13) = 19 he is attacking with his fist this time instead of a weapon he isn't proficient with. the +1 is assumin aria is right about her ability
and if this hits it will probably hit hard as he now has 4 extra strength to do so. as he will try to punch the shell hard. as he just simply holds onto the weapon with his other hand.
damage: 2 + 2 + 1 + 1d3 ⇒ 2 + 2 + 1 + (3) = 8 nonlethal damage. +1 damage assuming aria is right about her ability

Human

Hunter has resisted the poison. Sapphire needs to make a save again. DC 13.
These things are 3-3.5ft long. Not able to be easily picked up and thrown while alive (AoO?). Description: Blood-red spines run the length of this frightening creature, which resembles a lobster in the front and an eel in the back.

The struggle continues as Aria lifts up the spirits of her friends, inspiring them against the strange sea predators. Sapphire succeeds in her attack against the flanked one 2 dmg and Reinald hits his target also. 5 dmg Rosie shoots another sling at the one between Sapphire and Rrruh hitting it in a soft spot. 6 dmg Hunter uses his fist and cracks the shell a little 8 nonlethal and Rrruh tries to grapple the thing again but a claw cuts his arm 3 dmg AoO and before he can try to finish grabbing hold of it it spasms violently attacking all those around it as it dies but luckily everyone is able to step out of reach of the flailing claws.

The other enemies attack, the one grappling Hunter constricts him further 4 dmg and now pinned and Reinald's foe lands one claw. 4 dmg

Hunter that is correct. No attacks while being pinned and atm your AC is 6 lower than normal so you definitely want to escape that.

crap, not because I'm pinned, but because I'm not use to dealing with grapple rules even as a DM I try to avoid monsters that use grapple or just ignore the ability completely. Well because I'm pinned too.

escape: 1d20 ⇒ 15 plus whatever, still raging
attack: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (17) = 22 because I don't know what type of action escaping grapple is so as not to hold up the game.
damage: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 nonlethal

Human

To escape a grapple you make a combat maneuver check or escape artist check. That roll easily makes it. Their CMD is 11. It is a standard action though so you can't attack.
