Aishe Kaleja |
"Well, that's none too pleasant," Aishe remarks. "I wonder what drove him to kill himself? He had the wherewithal to build this building and the stockade, or at least the presence of mind to use them as shelter when he'd found them, and had plenty of fresh water from the spring...?"
Jack Handsome |
"Despiration? Loneliness? Infection? Poke him once more to be sure he is dead and not something like those whores and if he is really dead, let us hang him down and give him a proper blessing to his journey to pharasmas throne!"
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe nods at Jack's suggestion and pierces the dead man's flesh with her boarding pike.
Attack (Boarding Pike of Repelling): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage (Boarding Pike of Repelling): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
I assume this hits a dead body?
GM Tyranius |
As Aishe's boarding pike rips into the creatures flesh through the jacket it lets loose an incredible roar while simultaneously flies swarm out of the creatures jacket all over the party.
With the undead creatures flesh ripped open the room fills with a stench far stronger than before, almost sickening.
DC 15 Fort save or sickened for 8 minutes
sickened: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
swarm damage: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 + DC 13 Fort save (Ghoul Fever)
Striking Viviana, Jack and Aishe. I left it a little smaller so you can still see your icons.
The undead creature uses Aishes boarding pike as leverage to attempt to remove himself from the rafter. Grasping aroundatthe pike the creature is able to successfully free itself from it's bonds falling freely to the floor below as it hisses at Aishe.

As the horrible thing gets free Jack instinctivly draws his dagger and throws it at the thing, but the sickened stench overwhelms him.
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Fort: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 2 = 21 but he is able to fend of the ghoul fever.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d4 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 2 = 2
Viviana Masters |
Viviana pauses slightly, as the sickening smell and disease fills the air, but she successfully manages to avoid suffering from any after effects, lashing out with a fist at the creature.
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Ghoul Fever: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Full Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 151d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
EDIT
If this thing goes down before my turn, then I'll use my Alchemists Fire instead to remove the swarm.
Aishe Kaleja |
Fort Save (DC 15 or Sickened): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Fort Save (DC 13 or Ghoul Fever): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Aishe is disgusted by the smell of the thing, but feels more or less okay otherwise.
Would it be reasonable to say that Aishe would have been 10' from the corpse (thus, outside the door) when she pierced it, since she was using a reach weapon? If that's the case, then she'll attack the corpse again. If not, for whatever reason, then she'll start a bard song (inspire courage), draw an alchemist's fire, and 5' step to try to get in better position for next round.
GM Tyranius |
That would not be unreasonable and it is fixed. :)
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe thrusts her boarding pike at the undead creature, but is unable to make contact. Still, she steps away from the swarm and draws a vial of alchemist's fire.
Standard action: Attack corpse
Not an action: 5' step NW
Move action: Draw alchemist's fire
Attack (Boarding Pike of Repelling): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage (Boarding Pike of Repelling): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
GM Tyranius |
I will bot this action for him
Sarrien steps back into a better angle as he draws an Alchemist's fire from his pack awaiting the right time so as not to hit the rest of the party as Jack hurls his dagger at the undead beast. The dagger whistles through the mass of flies and slams into the creatures chest.
The creatures steps forward to Jack as it bites and claws at him. The creature misses him as one claw come close and scraps acrss Jack's armor.
bite vs Jack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Claw 1 vs Jack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Claw 2 vs Jack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Aishe steps back as she extends her boarding pike but is unable to strike the creature as it's twitching body deftly moves out of the way. Reaching into her belt she draws forth an Alchemist's fire ready to hurl it.
The botfly swarm Still has fresh bodies to feed on as the flies swarm all over Viviana and Jack
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 + DC 13 Fort save (Ghoul Fever)
Viviana steps forward slamming her fist into the creatures chest with a sickening crunch as it's chest caves in dropping it to the cabin's floor.

Aishe Kaleja |
Could I suggest that Viviana and Jack each tack on a 5' step to their actions, to get out of any splash zones? We're going to be lighting this swarm up something fierce, methinks...
GM Tyranius |
I will wait until tonight for Sarrien to post before I bot him again. Otherwise I will ready an action for when Jack moves out of the swarm
GM Tyranius |
Exactly. I am just keeping the train moving :)
Jack Handsome |
He is gone for almost 2 weeks. Did he give you a heads up? Any info that he is off the grid? And sorry if worst comes to worst how long do we want to wait till we replace him. It feels quite hard with three.
GM Tyranius |
No info. I will wait a bit before replace but I won't let it get near an encounter that a full party should not be able to handle. Would you guys be interested in me recruiting a 5th person?
GM Tyranius |
Sarrien readies his Alchemist's fire until Jack hops out of the way.
Jack slashes at the swarm, missing it as he stumbles backwards. Almost instantaneously Sarrien hurls a vial at the swarm. As Sarrien releases the vial it slips from his grasp falling short but flames still lick the a few of the flies evaporating them.
Alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
miss chance: 1d8 ⇒ 7
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Aishe readies her fire as the swarm closes in on Sarrien You can through you flash whenever this turn as you readied it Aishe
damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8 +DC 13 Fort save or ghoul fever
Viviana feels a bit feverish as she sees the swarm move onto Sarrien she grasps a vial of fire waiting for a good opportunity.

Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe throws her vial of alchemist's fire at the swarm before it moves towards Sarrien.
Attack (Ranged Touch, Alchemist's Fire): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage (Alchemist's Fire): 1d6 ⇒ 4
It would also splash to 3 other squares occupied by the swarm, correct? That would do a total of 7 damage this round, and another 1d6 ⇒ 5 next round.
If it's still not dead after that, Aishe will try with her boarding pike
Surprised by the swarm's resilience, Aishe thrusts into the swarm with her boarding pike.
Standard action: Attack swarm
Attack (Boarding Pike of Repelling): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage (Boarding Pike of Repelling): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
GM Tyranius |
The alchemist's fire would only damage the creature once. No additional splash damage for being a large creature. So just the initial 1d6 and another 1d6 the following round + 50% for splash weapon vs swarm of course :)
I am also looking at recruiting another
GM Tyranius |
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Sarrien steps back hurling another Alchemist's fire at the swarm of endless flies. Though the vial arcs a bit high it still strikes the swarm scorching more diseased flies from the world.
alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
miss chance: 1d8 ⇒ 4
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
As Aishe and Sarrien's Alchemists fire continue to burun within the flies they seem to give up and scatter throughout the forest's leaves.
Combat Over
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe sings a rousing shanty to help alleviate their sickened condition.
Using 1 round of bard song to sing a sea shanty, using Perform(Song) for the saving throw.
Perform (Song): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Feeling better, Aishe holds her breath and searches the corpse for the magical item.
GM Tyranius |
As you guys may have seen you may use the Advanced level guide now that it is released.
The group begins to feel a bit better as Aishe searches the diseased man and finds a silver ring in one of the man's pockets that Jack identified as radiating magic.
Around the room the group finds eight finely tailored courtesan outfits (30 gp Ea)
in addition the group finds a silver tankard (30 gp), a silver locket depicting a beautiful, buxom young blond woman,(who vaguely looks like one of the diseased women from earlier) (45 gp)
GM Tyranius |
The sickened condition gets cleared with a new saving throw based on Aishe's Perform modifier instead of your normal one but the Ghoul Fever that you failed is a disease and Aishe's song would not affect that. The onset is one day though so you have that to take care of it before you start to take all of the damage, with a new save each day. If you make two consecutive saves then your body fights the disease off.
Jack Handsome |
Nasty? Swarms are about the worst one can encounter. I remember once in a high level round a swarm of tiny golem rats. With poison. Based on some 80s tom selleck movie. Those nearly killed us where Demons, dragons and worse failed.
GM Tyranius |
Aishe recognizes the ring as a ring of swimming.
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe sighs at the beauty of the ring, and at the knowledge that it would be more effective in other hands. She places the ring in Jack's palm. "You'll need this more than Viviana or me - it will help with your swimming."
Somia |
Seems I need to make an entrance
A young woman of Vuldrani complexion cautiously approaches the stockade.
"Hello? My friend and I couldn't help but notice your ship, and as we have found ourselves without one... she glances over Jack's body before continuing and smiles slightly "We throw ourselves upon your mercy and beg for passage."
She watches the group for a reaction.
Jack Handsome |
With a deft flick of his hand Jack draws his good dagger but upon seeing that the young woman is not infected he smiles.
"Hello, beauty, please do not do so! Just give me a smile and a kiss on the cheek and I am all sold. Well almost. But I have to warn you. We are just sailors on the ship. And our captain is... special. But if you want to come on my good side, we are about to embark on a quest to rescue some of our missing. Proof your valor and loyality and I will put every good word in your favor, for what good it does."
With a shrug he sheaths his dagger.
Charles Beecroft |
Once the apparent 'friendliness' of the new arrivals to the island has been established, Charles Beecroft cautiously steps forward.
He is a tall man, wearing heavy banded mail, over which is layered the remains of some well-tailored clothing.
"Apologies for the cautiousness, but although we *want* to be rescued, given what is on this island, I am sure that you can understand our wariness..."
Charles then bows.
"Beecroft, Charles Beecroft, at your service. Do you have any idea what happened to these missing crewmen of yours?"
Viviana Masters |
Viviana laughs lightly "You will have to excuse Jack, here, hes been on a boat so long he can't resist the opportunity to hit on someone regardless of circumstances".
Upon listening to Charles, Viviana's face becomes slightly more serious "We don't know very much, aside from the fact that my companion here [She indicates Aishe] appears to have seen some creatures with personal items belonging to our companions, so we are currently in the process of tracking them down"
