Day One

The party begins to awaken from a deep sleep in a dark room. Your heads are pounding, a sickly taste of cheap wine is in your mouth, the hard floor imprinted on your face as the room seems to sway as if you still seem to be quite drunk.

You all remember the night before-The ringing laughter of a wild night, the heady joy of excess, the scents of rich stewed meat and perfume lingering in your nostrils.

As you begin to adjust you eyes to your surroundings the door slams inwards with a sharp BANG! causing your head to explode in pain once again. Before you can do anymore than sit up a bright lantern's flame erupts near you face illuminating your surroundings.

A sneering man with a braided beard and a mouth full of gold stands before you grasping a whip. The man is accompanied by six rough looking pirates holding a sap each as they sneer at you. An expression that might be mistaken for pain but which is clearly an attempt at a smile bruises the man's face as he cracks the whip in his hands and scream
“Still abed with the sun over the yardarm? On your feet, ye filthy swabs! Get up on deck and report for duty before Cap’n Harrigan flays your flesh into sausage skins and has Fishguts fry ye up for breakfast!”

The party quickly realizes that they have been stripped of all of thier weapons and equipment and that all they have left are their basic clothing. Sarrien's raven also seems to be missing.

You will be allowed to keep one small item hidden away if you choose such as a holy symbol, thieves tools, a small light weapon, spell component pouch, ect but it must have been concealed beforehand or an easily overlooked item

Waking up with a hangover wasn't exactly new to Sarrien, but this time seemed to be worse than usual. "godamit Xavier quit your flappin, i'm tryin to sleep." as the light shone in his face he realised he was no longer at the formidably maid. He tried to piece things together from last night. The contact he had been discussing the map with over dinner had toasted to succcess in finding the ancient ruins with rum. Then they drank. It seems the rum that he had had had had a much stronger effect on him than usual because he could remember nothing after that first drink and he could drink more than that easily. He must have been drugged. Now i'm on a ship?

He stood up slowly holding his head, "Who's Harrigan? And what about our deal? Where's my map?" Suddenly he realised he had been robbed, his wrist sheat and dagger, gone. Along with his gold and Xavier was no where around. He could sense him alive though their connection which helped him compose himself. Luckily he seemed to still have his compass in his breast pocket. Not hugely useful but it was something. Pirates... This wasn't exactly the plan. "Damn pirates." He started moving in the direction Gold-teeth pointed.

Viviana let out a low groan as she lurched into semi-awakeness. She rubbed her face with one hand, realising couldn't remember the last time she had been this hungover. Thinking back, all she could remember was going for a walk near the sea and then...nothing

Viviana opened her eyes and immediately felt a frisson of fear, her heart rate spiking until she got a closer look and relaxed ever so slightly. The men looked like pirates, rather than true slave traders, although she suspected that wasn't out of the question for these men either. She reassessed her threat assessment from "High" to "Unknown".

As she gets to her feet, Viviana realises that much of what she was carrying has vanished, which doesn't seem to trouble her. The pirates might have taken what she was carrying, but as long as she had the use of her arms, legs and so on, she never considers herself helpless. Confident that she isn't technically defenceless, and that her ability to handle herself might be currently unrealised by the pirates, Viviana follows, moving up to the deck with her other companions. "Don't rock the boat" she thinks to herself, before giving a wry smile, trying to smother the hysterical giggle threatening to make an appearance.

With a pounding headache like none he'd ever had (this month), Nicpic lets out a loud groan. Cursing in Tengu under his breath, swearing never to drink like that again, he looks blearily at the man before him.
"What in Besmara's... Ugh, just my luck." Sure, he wanted to be a pirate, but this wasn't exactly how he'd thought his career would exactly start. Been Katapesh'd... With some minor difficulty he gets to his feet. "See who bout what?" Looking about and realizing he may not be alone in his troubles, he looks to the woman with an odd smile on her face. Humans... Never understand them... He begins to trudge up to the deck, hoping for a cloudy day.

As the party reaches the main deck it becomes quickly apparent that they are on a sizeable ship in the middle of the ocean, far from any land. Port Peril and the Shackles are just an ochre haze many miles astern.

Figures cluster the main mast, looking up at the higher deck on the stern, where two figures stand, one of them is a broad, muscular Garundi man with a shaven head, a long beard bound with gold rings and an eye patch-clearly the Captain of the ship. The younger man is a balding man with a long black ponytail, wearing a long coat and carrying a well-used cat-o-nine-tails.

The party notices that they do not seem to be the only new recruits as four other individuals are standing near them which is distinguishable by the groups apparent unease and relative cleanliness compared to the rest on board the vessel. A dozen or so other pirates stand aboard the deck sneering as others are perched in the rigging of the ship watching.

If you’d be so kind as to make pirates out of these landlubbers, it’ll save me having to put them in the sweatbox for a year and a day before I make pies out of ’em.”

Viviana sucks in air, gasping a little as she feels her muscles start to burn with the strain. [I]"Eyes Up"[I/], she mutters to herself remembering how once as a girl she looked down and was stuck in that tree well into the night.

Aware that she is fairly high up, Viviana goes more slowly, worried about the pitching of the ship breaking her hold, as well as the wind threatening to shake her loose. Twice, she slips, losing her grip before managing to lash out at the last second, clinging to the mast with one hand, hearing the laughter from the other pirates below who would like nothing better to see her fall. Determined to deny them this, she would grip the mast tightly with her other hand, testing it, before resuming her climb. As she climbs, she thanks Irori for small mercies, such as the fact she choose to wear long pants the night before.

Shrugging her shoulders, she wraps her arms around the mast, locking her legs and slides down, kicking off from the mast about 10 feet from the ground, landing lightly on her feet. Assuming that Mr. Plugg's attention is directed more at her companions rather than her, Viviana looks at the companions she was with this, as well as the other 4 that were already on the deck when she arrived. She tries to get a read on them (don't know if a check is required for this), but at the very least tries to remember their faces so she can have a chat with them if an opportunity presents itself. Sandara states while she continues to mop. There are a few things you will learn on this ship. The day's are long and hard and there are many enemies on this ship. I wouldn't go exploring too much as ther are a lot of deadly traps beset throughout the ship.

Nicpic:
Master Scourge comes down to check on how well Nicpic is manning the bilges with two other pirates at his side. When he sees that Nicpic does not quite get the task he snaps his fingers and poits at Nicpic. Hold em!If you don't do your work my way you get punished.Master scourge states as his whip unfurls. The pirates each grab one of Nicpics arms and hold him where he is as MAster scourge cracks his whip right next to Nicpic's back. This is what you have to look forward to at the bloody hour tonight. The two pirates release the Tengu.

Hopefully your friend did a better job as Master scourge begins to go to the other side of the bilge to check on Sarrien's work. [/b] Yer lucky it is just my whip and not Plugg's cat o nine tails. Next time you won't be so lucky.

Jack:
Jack and Ambrose Kroop continue to exchange tales all throughout the day as the stew is cooking. ya, ya it is fine that you pick up a bit as long as I can still find everything I need. This crew would tear us to pieces if they don't get their evening meal tonight after the bloody hour.

"Well, I do love having friends", Viviana remarks with a smile "Do you know of anyone else on board this ship that enjoys making friends, or do they all have anger issues like a certain Master Scourge back there?"

Nicpic squawks loudly. "Sir yes sir!" He then begins swearing in tengu but makes it sound like a prayer, even invoking Besmara's name outright. But he tries once more.

I can try again, yes?

Knowing a little something about feeling vulnerable to someone else high in status, Viviana feels an upsurge of pity, and pretends to stumble, "accidentally" touching Sandaras shoulder for "balance" (Its really just a sympathy thing). "Don't worry", she whispers "I always look out for my friends...see you at dinner".

Muttering to herself about slippery decks Viviana going back to work with the ropes (assuming that my check was good enough), determined to catch up with Sandara and her little group she alluded to at dinner time, as well as to drop off those daggers if she gets a free moment.

Sarrien works in the disgusting bilge cleaning out the filth that surrounds him. He glances at the man every so often, wondering what he did to be put down here. Well he certainly wasn't going to let himself end up like that, "Hey, you in the chains, why did they put you down here?" The heat down here doesn't help but every minute he speaks a strange phrase in infernal, giving himself a small magical boon against it. Guidance

@Nicpic- no that is your roll for the day's worth of work.
@Viviana- Yes your check was plenty

Sarrien and Nicpic in the bilges:
Master Scourge looks around Sarrien's area as he is cleaning. {b] I see that you are doing far better than your friend[/b] The man states gruffly as he almost looks disappointed. You are lucky today even if your friend was not.
Master Scourge points to the two pirates that joined him. Lets go check on the the new rigger. Maybe I'll get to do some more whipping after all. he states as he walks back up to the deck.

As Master Scourge leaves the man in the manacles looks to Sarrien as he is asked a question. I got caught stealling from the quartermaster. The Cap'n plans on keelhauling me during the bloody hour, that I'm sure of. The man states in an almost defeated sense[/b] the man says as he is on his knees in the filty water as rats crawl on the barrel around him.

Jack with the cook:
With all of the talking Ambrose seems to open up just a little more to him.

In the kitchen , after you clean and catalogue you find a masterwork dagger being used as a butcher’s
knife, a pair of handaxes used as meat cleavers, 11 knives,
a short sword, a vial of holy water, a good lock hanging
unused off a pantry cupboard, 2 pounds of soap, four waterskins, a barrel of poor wine, six bottles of good Chelish
brandy worth 20 gp each, three bottles of magnificent rum
worth 12 gp each, a large cookbook worth 125 gp (using the
tome while cooking grants a +1 circumstance bonus on
Profession [cook] checks), a prosthetic leg made of wood and
edged with a silver band worth 45 gp, and 12 sp fallen behind
a cupboard. In addition, a trio of harpoons a spear, and Kroop’s steadfast grapple hang on the walls.

Through kroop's stories you find out that Most people think Ambrose “Fishguts” Kroop gets his
nickname from the stains on his apron or the contents of
his infamous stew, but few know he earned the sobriquet
as a competitive eater in the low bars of Port Peril. As
a young man, it was said that Kroop could eat more of
anything, and faster, than anyone. Folks still talk about
the night that Kroop devoured an entire bucket of boiled
eggs in the Salty Swab by the docks.
Kroop was trained as a professional chef at the Lobster’s
Armor, one of Port Peril’s most popular (and expensive)
restaurants, but when he was thrown out for inappropriate
behavior with his assistant, he ended up plying his
trade with several sailing vessels in the Shackles before
embarking on Captain Barnabas Harrigan’s Wormwood,
where he has served as ship’s cook for the past 3 years.

Each of you gets one day action and one nighttime action also. I have the actions listed in the Campaign tab for future reference.

Jack Handsomes day action is influence Kroop.
The knowledge that he indeed was once a great chef means he is someone he can learn a bit and also he hopes to find a minor ally.
Finding the cookbook he will give it a prominent place to help with the cooking. Also hoping that a clean kitchen will give Kroop and himself a sense of accomplishment!
Knowing that Kroop is an alcoholic he will hide the booze.

Viviana will attempt to influence an NPC during the day (do we have a list of NPCs to try and influence or do you randomly pick one?), and will try again during the night. If she gets a free moment, she will ask Sandara Quinn where her vial of Alchemists Fire is (like, the only item she had on her besides her clothes). At night time, I will again attempt to influence an NPC.

Not quite sure how influencing an NPC works, would you allow me to roll a Sense Motive dice twice (once for a night action, once for a day action) to see if I can get any hints as to how to how to best proceed in influencing an NPC?

Also noting that Viviana will try and get in touch with Jack Handsome, Sarrien and Nicpic and inform them about the traps apparently around the ship, as well as passing on the daggers to the respective owners.

Right now you just have the NPC's you have met during the day. you will continue to meet more as the days continue. Influencing the NPC will basically just be a diplomacy scheck to speak with them to try and improve their attitude towards you and the rest of the party.

Kroop seems to warm up a bit more to Jack after a day of sharing tales of past adventures and misdeeds.

As dusk begins the crew is called to the main deck where they see the pirate from the bilges being brought forward on his knees at the hands of Mister Plugg and Master Scourge. master scourge begins to tie a large rope around the man. As you all know Jake here was caught thieving on the Cap'n ship. You all know the punishment. If ye don't then you had better learn quickly of you won't last long.Mister Plugg states as he looks at Nicpic and the rest of the party.

After jake is tied up he is thrown overboard on one side of the ship while a pirate on the other side of the ship slowly pulls on a rope. You hear screaming at first but then it all goes silent over the waves. Soon a minute has passes as everyone stares on in horror and shock. A few of the pirates with a gleam of delight on their faces to include MIster Plugg. Finally the rope jerks as the man is lifted back onto the ship. What appears of Jake is shredded meat all over his body.

Grab the new Tengu and tie him to the mastMister Plugg yells as two pirates descend upon Nicpic and tie him to the main mast with his chest facing into the mast. master Scourge comes over and unfurls his whip. I have been waiting for this all day. Always wanted to see if crow bled the same. Master Scourge cracks his whip three times across NicPics back producing thin lines of blood. Next time you will do a better job or it will be more lashes for you. as he is released from the mast.

After the bloody hour the captain and the rest of the officer's retreat while the crew gets handed out one rum ration each and dinner is served. Some of the crew continues to hang out on the deck to gamble and some just to relax and talk. Soon she slams his hand into the glass covered table. He reaches his hand up bleeding from the tiny cuts all over his hand. Alright I am done for the night. Anyone else going to wager?
