Kung will gladly take that blur spell.

Kung accepts both Marnir and Jane's magic before boarding. Remembering the night battle on the beach, Kung doesn't immediately go into his own rage quite yet; instead, he lets the power of Marnir's war chant fill him.

I'm pretty sure that inspired rage turns on furious for the sword, so that's calculated in below. If not, remove +2 of the enhancement bonus for both attack and damage.

"Kung biggest now, and Kung all fuzzy! Big fuzzy orc coming!!!" He charges across the boarding plank, reaching between two pirates to attack the captain.

So I've been doing Enlarge Person wrong up until now. I should have been increasing the weapon damage dice and taking advantage of reach with that weapon. Oops! Well, now I know.

Knuckles is thrown back with the force of Kung's swing and stops just in time to take an icicle through the heart. He just has time to blink in surprise before falling over dead.

The remainder of the crew promptly drop their weapons and raise their hands frantically.

Looking them over you can see the Thresher is badly undermanned, it seems with their loses attacking Tidewater rock, and Knuckles taking command the ship has barely enough to man her.

The battle is over and you have another ship, along with about 16 crew, not many of officer level. Most were loyal to Locke and were killed by Knuckles when he took over.

Ghilda senses the confidence that the crew and officers have after the quick fight to take the Thresher, but she becomes apprehensive about what lies ahead. "Did we figure out what the inscription on that dead whore-pirate's back meant?"

Are you sure you want to do that?

Good question Ghilda.

The map tattooed on the Isabella Locke’s back depicts the outlines of several small islands. A stylized half sun sits to the right of the islands, while simple images of a monstrous eye and the face of an aged, bearded king are to the left.

Beneath the map are five lines of crude verse:

From blue bight’s embrace
Spy the Grave Lady’s prize tooth
With the Dawnflower’s first kiss
Climb the Captain’s wayward orb
To claim old king’s hoard.

You made the Knowledge(Religion) checks so you know that 'Grave lady' means the Goddess of death Pharasma, and the the dawnflower is the Sun goddess Sarenrae.

Dawnflower’s first kiss along with the position of the sun to the right if the islands clearly means you need to look for the other clues at dawn.

More Knowledge (Local and history) checks are needed for further information.

Are you sure you want to do that?

Once you have sailed into the archipelago of small, nameless islands of Mancatcher Cove, the cove itself is easy to locate, piercing the eastern flank of the westernmost isle, which is also the archipelago’s largest.

The islands are surrounded by nearly sheer rock cliffs with few beaches, and are buried under a shroud of prolific jungle growth. They are a haven for birds and sea mammals, and have small populations of both rodents and snakes.

The largest island has a sizeable population of spider monkeys that keep up a cacophony throughout the day. The cliffs of the islands range between 20 and 60 feet high and require DC 25 Climb checks to scale the craggy heights, which are slick with sea spume. The jungle growth is
dense, with the average height of the tree canopies reaching 60 to 70 feet.

Mancatcher Cove forms an almost perfectly round bowl in the side of this jungle-cloaked island. The water in this circular bowl is an almost indigo hue compared to the turquoise of the waters surrounding the island, hinting at the extreme depth of the cove.

Cliffs surround the bowl on all sides except the entrance, and a few small beaches have formed where the water meets the rock face. The jungle grows thickly atop these cliffs, the massive trees spreading their branches out and over the cove.

From these trees a series of interlaced vines have grown like a loose net canopy 100 feet above the water, giving the cove a cavelike quality in the shadows of predawn or twilight. More vines, creepers, and roots extend down the cliffs, creating a dense maze of twisting tendrils that shroud numerous dark hollows in the rock.

New map in the folder, link up top titled 'Mancatcher cove'.

You sail the two ships into the cove, it's late in the day and you need to wait for morning in this quiet, eerie place.

Any actions you wish to perform you can do now.

Well done Markizio.

Knowledge(Local)
DC17 - tells you that Captain Wolfe was known to have lost an eye in battle.
DC25 - Tells you it was his right eye.

The water here in the cove is far too deep to drop anchor, you are going to have to run out a line and secure it closer in to the beach.

The cove is actually a natural formation called a blue hole, where erosion in ancient epochs gouged a sinkhole into the soft carbonate rock that makes up these islands. This particular blue hole is approximately 300 feet wide and over 600 feet deep.

Jane - You said you were taking a line to secure the ship, how are you doing that?

Kung follows his ears to the sound of the sahaugin trying to sabotage the Drake and emits a groan, then a yell of warning. "Fish-men! Fish-men attacking Drake!"

He looks down at them. How far away are they and the rudder? I assume too far for melee, but would like to confirm just in case.

"You hate too much. Long way from Tidewater Cove. Yes, defeat there embarrassing, but learn limits, fish-men. This too much. They say Kung not smart, but you not smart. Long way to come just to die!"

Are you sure you want to do that?

Kung. Yes, they are out of Melee range, it's at least 15 feet down to where they are. And they are under water.

Markizio, looking it up you can use Alter self to get water breathing and swim speed. Darkvision as well. That's pretty nice really.

Are they all 15' below the water surface and thus not reachable with ranged attacks? Is there a limit to the type of creature I can become? Can I become a sahuagin?

No, Alter self lets you become a small or medium humanoid type. Sahaugin are Monsterous humanoids. You can be a Gillman though.

Markizio stopped just long enough to look at the fishmen mess with the Drake and then he started to change. His neck elongated and gills appeared on the sides. Webbing appeared between his fingers.

He was just about ready to dive in the water, "You are all coming right? Use the water breathing potions because I'll need your help."

"More of those bloody fishy bastards!" Marnir growls at Kung's shout. He strides toward the Drake's stern, pulling out a potion as he goes. "Aye, we'll be with you," he says to Markizio, taken aback by his changed form but saying nothing untoward.

Marnir summons the last of his most powerful magic to guide his weapons before popping the cork out of the potion bottle and swigging the contents down in one, wincing slightly at the briny, slimy sensation of the potion in his mouth.

I'll cast heroism before drinking one of my potions of water breathing. Is Marnir an experienced enough sailor to know that we'll need piercing weapons underwater?

Are you sure you want to do that?

Yes, you've fought underwater before so know what weapons work.

Kung checks the fit of his new spiked gauntlets. Satisfied that the fit is good, he slugs back a potion of water breathing. Then he steps up to the gunwale near the rudder and dives in, his pegleg having just a brief moment to tap out its familiar rhythm on the gunwale before he is airborne and on his way towards the water.

Not sure if it's possible to target one of the sahaugin as a part of the dive; here's a skill check to assist.
Acrobatics or Swim: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26 They both actually have the same bonus.
I'm treating the dive as a charge, below. Feel free to remove that attack bonus (and AC penalty) if that's not appropriate. Note: Kung has Marine Terror which allows him to ignore the cover bonus to AC from attacking a creature partially immersed in water.

You are in the middle of a cove, you'd have to beach the ship to be next to the cliff walls.

Marnir pulls his boarding axe from his belt, giving the spike on the rear of the axe head a test with his thumb. Satisfied with it's sharpness he looks around to see Kung disappear off the stern and Markizio and Ghilda step up to the gunwale.

"Best we get in after him then," he says before vaulting over the side and splashing feet first into the sea.

I'll follow Kung in, coming down off the port side to engage green, who I assume is also fiddling with our rudder.

Okay. In that case. Jane wouldn't' use that spell yet.

Sahaugin and sharks.

Kung performs an amazing dive, finishing with a pinpoint landing on a Sahaugins head, caving it's skull into bloody pulp. But the Chelaxian judge only gives him a 6.

Jane Since they are all under water they have improved cover, your bolt misses the Shark rider.

Sahaugin:

Sharks:

Kung turns his attention to the shark that starts bothering him. While the one that took his leg didn't have a rider, Kung's fury rises even further to see one of those toothy beasts in the water next to him, and he begins with a hard strike, lifting his gauntleted hand out of the water and slamming it down on the shark's nose.
