There are two doors into the captain's cabin, right? Since opening the doors will take an action, we should have a secondary melee character open each, with a primary melee character immediately rushing in and beginning the attack. (Are we just attacking, or are we giving them a chance to surrender?) The secondary melee characters would then follow the primary melee characters in. So on the south door, Ghilda should open and Kung should rush in. I'll let you on the north door decide who's primary melee; you're both pretty boss. :)

I suppose it's difficult to want to fight a suddenly-appearing horde of armed soldiers while already covered in the blood of one of your bodyguards!

"Good choice, former captain," Marnir says with a wicked smile, "you'll live a while longer yet. Though I doubt your family will ever let you captain another ship again."

He turns to Norva. "These gentlemen," he says, gesticulating at the captain and the marines, "we will treat according to our rules. We do not execute prisoners on the Drake. They will be put afloat in a ship's boat with a small supply of water and left to determine their own fate. Our fate, however, I would discuss with you shortly."

Addressing the senior officers, Marnir adds "Kung and Markizio, get these prisoners off the ship. Ghilda, you're in charge of inventory. I want to make sure that Captain Norva has everything she needs, and that we claim our share of the goods. Jane, let's take the Drake back to Senghor for repairs." He checks to make sure everyone is happy with the plan, before gesturing for Norva to stay behind in the cabin.

"I fully intend to hold up our end of our bargain, Captain. The Queen is under your command, but I think we can make more money and more glory working together. We should set up a more formal agreement," he suggests, with terms including working together to take down bigger prizes, the splitting of profits from such larger jobs, and sharing of information about possible targets or other pirate gossip.

Kung looks at the former captain with disgust, and spits at the man's feet as he hustles the craven out of the cabin. "Why no fight? You captain; you defend ship. We do service taking ship from you, weakling."

He gets together with Markizio to gather the other officers together with the captain, and agrees with the magus that survivors spread the fame of the Unbound Drake better than corpses. "Let's go ask Jane if there's good port nearby." Making sure that the captives are well-bound, he goes with Markizio to find the navigator. "Jane, we want send off captives near port so they better spread our fame. You know good place?"

To be clear, Kung is looking for a different port than wherever our ship is headed for repairs, and he's not suggesting that we go to that port, just that we launch the dingy in a good place so that the captives can reasonably reach that port.

Once the location is determined, Kung works with Jane and Markizio to figure out how long the dingy would be at sea before reaching that port, to make sure they have enough provisions to survive until they get there.

I'm sitting down with Captain Norva to hammer out an agreement in which we share profits, meet up regularly (probably in Senghor for now, until we try to take over Tidewater Rock) to share rumours about easy targets, and work together on occasion to take down bigger targets that one ship couldn't manage alone.

Then Jane is going to plot us a course that will allow us to drop ex-captain Trock and his minions off near a port to spread rumours of our fearsomeness, before we sail back to Senghor for repairs and shore leave.

So long as no-one objects, that's the plan.

Just to clarify, the goal is to see if there's a *nearby* port that we can send our captives off towards. I don't think that we want to send them towards the same port that we go to for repairs (that could be complicated if we're still in dry dock when they roll in).

And Kung doesn't have much respect for a captain who didn't even swing his blade once in defense of his ship. If there's not an *obvious* and *easy* destination to send them towards *today*, Kung will advocate for sending them off in any direction as we've done before. This captain is not deserving of special treatment.

"Didn't even swing blade. Craven, coward. No captain at all. No deserve any respect from us."

Are you sure you want to do that?

If you sail east you can drop Trock and the marines off close to Bloodcove, then it's a southerly course for Senghor.

He then suggested, "Where to now? Off to a port to unload some of the loot? Do we know of any other prey sailing by?"

"Cap'n - I recommend we get rid of this Trock and his cowards first. Then we head to port to finalize repairs on the Drake, get Captain Norva and her new ship squibbed, and then set off to the glory our Pirate Queen foresees." "Kung still want break Rock," the half-orc muses. He pulls out his whetstone and starts working on a dagger as he speaks. "That how we get name. Do something big."

He starts sliding the gritty stone down the blade another time and bursts into laughter. "Haha big! We destroy zombie ship but nobody see, nobody know. Why they believe us? Rock is how we make it. Then they know."

Obviously, the ship needs repairs first. Also, excited to be starting a fleet! How cool!

From a logistical standpoint, when Norva asks for plunder to squib and arm her ship, how much is she asking for?

Are we seeing the Dowager Queen as a ship that travels with us, allowing us to take on bigger targets, or is she a ship that we send out to cause trouble and earn us more gold?

"Aye, let's leave Captain Norva enough of the gems to make sure she can get the Queen disguised. Then we can drop the coward and his men off near Bloodcove as we sail toward Senghor for repairs."

Marnir picks up on the officers' excitement. "Let's get the Drake back to full seaworthiness, then we can think about the Rock and further prey. If we come across a ripe and juicy target on the way to Senghor, maybe we'll give it a go."

I figure two points of plunder would be enough for squibbing and weapons for the Queen. I saw her as a separate entity, earning us and herself gold that we can split when we meet up, but we could join together from time to time for bigger and harder targets. Also, it'd be nice if Captain Norva gave us the proposed name for her newly-squibbed ship before she left, so that we know which ship to ask after in future.

Are you sure you want to do that?

Sorry, too ill to do much posting.

If you're going to do any shopping or other business in Senghor post it please.

Otherwise we'll make it you were in and out quickly.

I'll do all the details tomorrow.

I'll strike off two units of plunder to be used by Norva. We should also have a list of the crew on her ship now too. I propose we dole out two units of plunder to the Drake's crew (or more), and then split the rest (up to five units) among the PC's. I'll also make an assumption that we're selling the rest of the loot we have, but I want everyone, specifically Kung, to comment if they need any weapons or armor for the crew.

Upon landing at Senghor and seeing the Drake back in drydock for repairs, Ghilda sets off to find herself quality blunt weapon at the market.

One point of plunder should be enough for the crew, unless anyone feels that they're especially deserving. Whatever's left should be used to pay for repairs first, then split up among the PCs.

With their return to Senghor uneventful, other than the loud jeers and boos from the crew as the former Chelish captain and his men were sent off, Marnir takes a wander through the city's markets and taverns.

Goal is to sell my now-redundant masterwork studded leather, then spend a day or two telling the story of our defeat of the Deathknell in order to increase our Infamy and Disrepute.

The gold in his pocket starts to weigh heavily, so Marnir finishes his trip to the bazaar with a few drinks at Sullivan's, a mid-sized tavern recommended to him by the armourer who bought his suit of well-made studded leather. With a pint of pale southern ale in his hand Marnir asks around about the Deathknell, drawing the tavern's patrons in to listen to his story of their defeat of Whalebone Pilk and his infamous ghost ship.

I'm in favor of paying the crew only what is required; i.e. the 1 unit of plunder. While it's nice to be generous, it seems unnecessary and could actually backfire (i.e. they could start to expect that generosity as the baseline pay, or they could get so rich that they leave)! They can get rich when they captain their own ship. :)

@GM_DBH what is the cost needed to repair and squib the Dowager Queen? Ghilda has marked down 2 units of plunder for that, but I don't recall seeing any specific figure from you.

@Ghilda I'm of the opinion that the crew is responsible for outfitting themselves, so we should be selling everything that we're not personally keeping. That seems to be in line with the Pirate Code, as well. @GM_DBH if I'm mistaken, please let us know and we'll work out a plan for using captured armor/weapons to upgrade our crew's martial capability.

Kung accompanies his captain through the port, finally enjoying some time relaxing with an ale as he listens intently to the tale of the Deathknell. When he recognizes disbelief in some eyes, he adds his own particular style to the tale. "All true; Kung there. You no see; you no know. Kung strong warrior; fierce! But Kung scared! Not ashamed to say, because it true, and we win!"

Kung, first, hilarious post! I took two plunder off to use for Norva's squibbing - I'll put them back until we get confirmation on the cost of the squibbing from GM. I'll take one plunder off now to give to the crew, unless Marnir sees fit to give them more.

Ghilda looks around the market, searching for a nice blunt weapon - what does she see?

Markizio spent some of their earned money buying people drinks to bolster his captain's story.

He mingled with the crowd and made sure the story of the bell was heard. "... and then Kung here hit that bell so hard that it almost burst. I swear everyone must have heard that gong..."

He slapped a sailor's back, "And the captain just put an end to the bell, the ghost ship, and its captain, all in one stroke. Brilliant I tell you. Splendid!"
