Percival, don't forget Randall's Inspire Courage ;)

"Gods damn these fools" - Herzag moves out from cover, dashing at the closest, grappled sailor - "Am I the only one thinking if this thing doesn't find food topside, it may stop attacking?" - he speaks mostly for himself, attacking the vine grappling the sailor - "Let's get you out of this. Fight!" - he urges the man.

Fortune Hex is now active for the following players--please use it!
Percival, Herzag, Rhialla, Sandara.

"Eww! This is so gross!" Neela hopes that Percival can get her out of the thing's grasp. For now, she just tries to give the plant's fortune for the worse! She'll then sustain her magics.

Misfortune hex Will DC18 assuming the thing is "within 30 feet" given its damn tentacles. Misfortune is not a mind-affecting effect so hopefully it affects killer plants? Followed by cackle, of course.

Catching your breath after clearing the deck you look up to see four more vines descend from over head. Two vines head toward a couple of the sailors on deck while the other two attack Percival and Rhialla. Both vines wrap around the sailors, drawing their sustenance from the captured bodies, as one of the Rahadoumi sailors curses in Osiriani as he struggles to escape. The remaining grasping vines reach for Pericval and Rhialla but the pair manage to duck their embrace.

With Fortune Hex I can reroll all d20 rolls this round, correct? Or does it last longer Neela?

F Kobold Oracle 6

@Herzag--Fortune hex only affects one d20 roll per round. It's not as good as Misfortune in that regard (but doesn't require a save). Like many of Neela's hexes, it lasts 1 round but the duration is extended for each round Neela cackles if you are within 30 feet, which you are.

Neela just sustains her magics further, hoping to keep her allies' fortunes up in fighting. Cackle x2, took a 5-foot step.

Neela, the Creeper itself is not within 30'. The vines are considered animated objects that it can attack with.

Ashlei's blazing starknife once again sails harmlessly through the tangle of vines overhead before it reappears back on her belt.

Rhialla's rapier pierces the vine, it's needle tip passes through the fibrous tentacle doing far less damage than she thought it should as her spirit weapon, aided by Randall's magic, slices the creature.

Percival, bolstered by magic, begins his climb to the waiting maw of the Creeper overhead.

Herzag obliterates the vine holding one of the sailors with his dagger. As the weakened sailor stumbles from the grip he mutter a quick thanks as he picks up his cutlass.

Randall finishes his flurry of spellcasting and begins to climb closer to the creature.

Laughing maniacally, Neela maintains her magics, granting good luck to those around her.

Two sailors near Rhialla finish off the vine, freeing the Rahadoumi seaman, who picks up his crossbow before reloading it with practiced ease.

Sorry, who's turn is it now? Neela's next plan of action is to fly within 30 feet, after which she'll try her Misfortune Hex for real on the plant.

The vine creature releases it's hold on the gunner and brings more vines down to attack with, however it is unable to bring them all to bear.
Okay let's see who we've got on the sterncastle. There's five gunners, four sailors, Conchobar, Rosie, Rhialla, and Herzag. 1-5=

The remaining vine from the last attack seeks out another victim, this time wrapping around another member of the gunnery crew. The sailor screams in pain as the vine draws out vital fluids.

"You in a skirt, now that would be a sight to behold" Randall exclaims as he climbs higher up the rigging. Distracted by the thought Randall's feet miss a rung and, if not for Neela's magic he would have crashed to the deck below. "Whew, that was close. Pay attention, jackass." Randall thinks to himself as he catches his breath and continues the climb.

Neela maintains her magics, then flies upward toward the plant creature until she's close enough to feel its threads of fate.

[ooc]Cackle, then move within 30 feet of the thing. Realized I need to wait yet another round to Misfortune and Cackle, which I guess is the drawback of trying to move and fight with a witch.

Rhialla and her spiritual weapon attack the vines writhing around deck, damaging some of them but not taking them out of commission.

Neela finally tries to inflict misfortune on the plant thing!

Misfortune, cackle. Will DC 18.

Misfortune:
Effect: The witch can cause a creature within 30 feet to suffer grave misfortune for 1 round. Anytime the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result. A Will save negates this hex. At 8th level and 16th level, the duration of this hex is extended by 1 round. This hex affects all rolls the target must make while it lasts. Whether or not the save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day.

I'm going to say that you and Ashlei are within melee range. The vines, while treacherous, are plentiful enough for you to stand on but the whole area is difficult terrain.

Smiling evilly, Ashlei pulls herself up into the leaves and vines of the creeper's canopy, and advances as best she can towards the nasty plant.

"Now...you WILL feel my blades!"

Did we lose our link to the Roll20 map page for some reason? So, I looked it up on my own and found it in 'my games' for my Roll20 account. Also...if each square equals 30 feet on the map, then with difficult terrain it takes me a double move to get within Melee of the creature? Correct?

Hell's Vengeance Battlemaps; Jade Regent Battlemaps; Kingmaker Battlemaps; Mummy's Mask Battlemaps

Ashlei, Which map are you on? The map with the Bounty on it is 1"=5' squares, the one which shows the entire cove is the one with the 1"=30' squares. The link under my alias still works but everyone else try it and let me know if it's working for you.
I've updated the map a little. Ashlei and Percival are currently at 90' above deck (purple dot), in the canopy (both of you are within melee range of the creeper without having to take any steps). Randall is currently in the crow's nest and Neela is flying at 60' (orange dot) above the deck. Everyone else is on the deck, looking up.
