Initiative order:
Jordi
Nym
Glandur
Homunculus
Sarden
Arelian

With a screech the ugly winged leatherbaby comes flying directly at Nym. It makes no attempt to attack, instead trying to dodge around the cleric and get into the hallway.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Nym can make an attack if desired.

Half-Elf Cleric-1, HP:10/10, AC: 18/11/17, Saves-F:+4/R:+1/W:+5, Perc.+8, Init. +4

"Ahhh!", the cleric yelps as the creature flies right at him. He quickly brings his sword up to fend off the creature.

Attack-melee: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Although hesitating, as the creature runs away not attacking, Jordi swings his sword to strike it.

That weird thing did not attacked us, but can be a nuisance later. And after all is just a toy some mad-man made.

Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 212d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14

Dred runs back to the group and peers inside the room.

Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Glandur stares at the thing, unsure how to respond to it. He calls out, "Don't hurt it! That thing is valuable!", and immediately follows with "Be careful! Watch out for it's bite!"

The homunculus dodges Nym's well swung mace by no more than a hair's breadth. The manikin continues it's erratic flight onward toward the Paladin, Jordi, who swats it right out of the air.

Combat is over.

The strange construct lies on the floor, badly damaged. Whatever energy animated it is now extinguished.

Male Elf Wizard 1 | HP: 8/8 | AC: 14, T: 14, FF: 10 | Fort: +1, Ref: +4, Will: +2 | Melee: +0, Ranged: +4 | BAB: +0, CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | Init: +8, Perception: +5*

Glandur squats over the construct, and shakes he head. "What a waste of a magnificent effort." The elf prods at the extinguished body as he attempts to look for any signs of residual energy or arcane signature.

Satisfied, he heads into the room and takes a careful look around.

Glandur Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Vanya Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32

The workmanship of the construct is fairly distinctive, but Glandur is not familiar with it. There is nothing of any consequence in the room other than the bird-cage. The elf notes the recently broken lock on the cage's door. To be clear, the homunculus broke the lock to get out, just now.

Vanya seems bored. (Nothing of interest to a hawk in this room.)

HP: 4/11| AC: 15; T: 10; FF: 15; CMD 14 | Fort: +3; Ref: +0; Will: +2 | Perception: +1 | Init +2

Sorry glandur, I did it on the spur of the moment...

Says the warrior, while scratching the back of his head with his right hand.

And now I regret it. Maybe if we had it left , the thing would have brought us to its creator.

"If something is trying to kill you, sometimes it's better off to squash it first, and ask questions later." Arelian said dryly. "At least you'll be around to answer questions."

Arelian will help in looking over the room to see if there is anything interesting to find.

Back here, the mouth should have come from that room.

Dred leads the way back to the other side of the hallway and leaps over the hole.

Acrobatics if needed (DEX - Armor Penalty): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 2 = 2
uh-oh...

Dred has a frightening moment as he almost loses his footing and falls through the hole in the floor. He makes it across safely, even if his heart is racing.

Hole is too small to need an acrobatics check.

Male Elf Wizard 1 | HP: 8/8 | AC: 14, T: 14, FF: 10 | Fort: +1, Ref: +4, Will: +2 | Melee: +0, Ranged: +4 | BAB: +0, CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | Init: +8, Perception: +5*

This is not the room we're looking for.

Glandur follows Dred back towards where the voice likely came from. As he does so, the hawk continues to settle comfortably on his backpack. "So many mysteries, none of which pieces together yet. We need more clues." The elf states the obvious as he adjusts his backpack.

HP: 4/11| AC: 15; T: 10; FF: 15; CMD 14 | Fort: +3; Ref: +0; Will: +2 | Perception: +1 | Init +2

Jordi talks in an absent way, while following Glandur and Dred, more to clarify his own mind than to offer a solution.

Well, both the floating mouth and the man-made creature can be creations of a mage. If I recall correctly, our patron said the former owner was an alchemist.
It is posible that we are facing some anti-thieves weave?

"That would make some sense to me. I don't know too much about magic, but I do know that magic would persist almost indefinitely unless it was discharged. Plus it doesn't look like that creature you squished would need to eat."

Lets keep looking around and check the last rooms up here." Arelian said as he walked towards the northern most room and peering inside, cautious of dry rot on the floor.

A large four poster bed sits in the middle of this room. The frame is broken and the mattress half dragged off onto the floor. Stuffing protrudes from rips in the mattress fabric. Like the other rooms of the house, the floor is littered with animal droppings, dust and plaster flakes.

An old, beaten, wooden chest sits under the window. The chest lid is closed. The window glass is intact and closed.

Taking a moment to look through the room, Arelian approaches the chest and takes a look inside. Again, making sure to watch for more dry rot.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

The chest contains old crumbly documents. Examination reveals them to be deed papers for the house. There is also a scroll in much better condition than the other papers. It is tied with a gold ribbon.
Arelian notices a hidden compartment in the bottom of the chest. Inside is a small leather bag, inside of which are four little diamonds.
DC 20 to appraise them as usual.

Putting the pouch of diamonds in a pocket, and storing the deed papers safely in his pack. Arelian walks back out into the next room, and takes a look inside. Of course, ever watchful for more dry rot.

Jordi goes with Arelian, not entering the rooms if they look clear of any menaces.

Perhaps if we had spared it, the thing would had led us to the source of the problem.
But that does not matter now, I guess.

I got you covered. Says finally the warrior to Arelian, when the other man readies to open the next door.

Half-Elf Cleric-1, HP:10/10, AC: 18/11/17, Saves-F:+4/R:+1/W:+5, Perc.+8, Init. +4

Nym moves up behind Jordi, ready to help if needed.

"Well lets see what is in this room. I hope no more of those homunk..thingies!"

This room appears to have been a storage space. It seems to have been thoroughly looted long ago. There are two large, high-backed chairs. Both of these are broken. A large oaken chest, in fair condition, lays open, on its side. The chest is empty.
A large sack lies on the floor, its contents dragged half out. It is old clothing, good for nothing but rags now.

Male Elf Wizard 1 | HP: 8/8 | AC: 14, T: 14, FF: 10 | Fort: +1, Ref: +4, Will: +2 | Melee: +0, Ranged: +4 | BAB: +0, CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | Init: +8, Perception: +5*

Glandur oohs and aahs over the diamonds, before turning his attention away and helping his comrades searching through the room.

The diamonds are real, and worth 50 gp each.

This room contains a staircase leading down to the ground floor. The stairs are missing several treads, so make a difficult passage. (DC 10 Climb check to traverse these stairs without mishap. You can take 10.)

A steep staircase (virtually a ladder) rises to a trapdoor in the ceiling as well. This stairway seems to be in exceedingly poor repair. Dc 10 to climb up this as well, but no taking 10. If anyone rolls a 1 or 2 the unsteady stairway collapses.

The attic is a large T shaped space, covering the entire area of the house. It is quite dark in the attic, only a few beams of gray light pass in through small cracks in the roof, here and there. There is a 2' square window close to Arelian, but it is covered by a ragged curtain that hangs languidly in the still air

"Alright, right behind you."

Dred carefully climbs up the stairs behind Arelian and takes in the view of the attic. His clouded vision is unable to discern anything except for the state of disrepair of the place.

"So, find anything interesting?"

With only +4 to Perception, there's no way I can beat the DC26 ^^.

The tattered cloth window covering easily comes loose in Arelian's grip, allowing the light into the attic.

There is a sudden stirring and the sound of leathery wings. The light has disturbed a nest of weird, bat winged insects. They resemble a combination of bat and mosquito.
They wing their way toward Arelian, Dred, and Jordi.

Yeah, I noticed that only Nym could have made the DC. These creatures have a high Stealth score, so it happens. I have some prep work for this encounter, sorry I've been kind of sick. I'll probably be ready tomorrow. In the meantime everyone can roll initiative. Arelian, Dred and Jordi can also try an K,Arcana check to identify the things. (If any of them has ranks...)
