It appears there is not a lot of actions that make sense to do at this point, are there? Who's left to try to influence? Where's left to sneak and explore that's not someone powerful's personal bunk? I think I will see what the purser has, but I have little gold, so that won't go far...
Am I missing something? (Please don't think I'm complaining, I'm just trying to figure out valid options.)

I'm trying to determine if it's a problem that some of the abilities are actually present in either class - electricity resistance, for example, is gained at different rates and would naturally not stack.
But I can never stay the course, so it's tempting. I'm going to have to sit down to compare and contrast the combinations of abilities at different combinations of class levels.

So, since we've got a real bard (sorry, Evril!), I think it's safe to say Conchobar opens up with an inspire courage. I doubt we'll be able to get into the officers' quarters unseen and unchallenged, so we'll have to try to sweep our way in, clearing the deck of our foes. Can we get a rough map of what we're looking at? And what spells our friends have?
DM Shisumo |
The battle map from the boarding is still up on the Campaign Info tab. The forecabin, where all your foes except Plugg (as well as Sandara and BArefoot Samms), sleep at night, is beneath the forecastle - the door is in the middle of the wall at G-H/5-6. The captain's cabin, which Plugg has claimed, is aft, beneath the aft deck - the door there is directly below the ship's wheel, at T-U/5-6.
Sandara's not around to tell you what she's got prepped at the moment; of course, as a cleric that's less of an issue if you a) don't launch your attack until you've had a chance to talk to her and then b) wait enough longer to let her re-prep as you would like. Conchobhar admits to being able to heal small injuries and play with people's emotions, either through fear or devastating humor.

Thoughts: If we can somehow barricade the majority of the crew into their quarters in the fore, that would buy us time to get to Sandara and Samms with only Plugg and whomever is on watch to deal with.
Chum could cut the sight-lines in the forecastle, and some of the others could lay in wait for anyone that comes out? I could even lay a grease strip right in front of the door.
DM Shisumo |
On the open sea, the "night watch" is one swabbie holding the ship's wheel and steering by a star. Who's given that task is theoretically determined randomly, but in practice it's often "Narwhal" Tate, Scourge's closest crony - Tate's a dwarf, so he doesn't mind the night watch so much. (Jaundiced Jape is the other swabbie who is regularly picked for that duty, again largely because of his darkvision. Jape's mute, though, so he has to ring the ship's bell if he wants to alert the crew to a problem of some kind.)
And no, there's no official evening head count, but if Quinn and Samms leave in the night, Plugg would hear about it from Scourge and the others in the forecabin, for certain.

Ah! I misunderstood something earlier. I thought Sandara and Samms were quartered near Plugg. Not such a good idea barricading them in with the flunkies, then.

So...
...I'm breaking down.
Wrath of the Righteous is just too awesome.
I'm gonna have to run it.
I don't want to open a formal recruitment thread if I can avoid it - I'd rather stick with players I know. So...
...send me a PM if you're interested. I'll start a discussion thread for the relevant parties, and hash out recruitment there.

No reports of shiny. Double slackers.
If Sandara needs to change her spell selection, we might need to wait until tomorrow. Is it better to hit them first thing in the morning? Would we be able to thin the ranks of the opposition a little if we do it later in the day - locking folks in quarters and such before everything starts? I guess later or mid-day makes sense to me.

Talk to Ferret..
Too Much Magical Samurai, Not Enough Shopping. By the time I actually had time to hit the floor, the shinies I was looking for were gone.
I did score a really nice print, and someone tabbed me for a Questionable Content character sketch, so there were Things To Be Had that were, in fact, had.
Ferret |
Well, I'm glad you had a good time. I did not realize you guys were both in that group. Or are you running that group? Either way.
And speaking of shiny, my mega-shipment arrived today! Yay! (It's big for me, anyway.)
I don't think I'm talking out of school, but Shisumo and I are both part of the team that runs it, yea. PF is how we take a break. ;)
and hooray for shiny shipments!
Shisumo |
Well, across all 12 slots of the campaign we ran at GenCon this year, we had roughly 770 seats. Obviously, many of those were the same player multiple times, but last I had heard we had had over 700 individual players reported as having played through our introductory adventure (and of course one imagines there are at least a few more who didn't ever bother reporting...).
Eleuterio Reis |
For some mods, "victim" is a much better term than player. (Confusion at Court, I'm looking at you.)
And whether HoR is the largest or not (I can't imagine that we're beating out PFS), it's certainly the best for roleplayers. The depth of story is better than anything I've seen in PFS.
Evril Cooper |
So what's the plan, folks?
Thoughts: Someone (likely me) takes a turn at the post this evening, and Samms helps carry them below, so Sandara can do the healing. This should allow us all to be on the same side of things when we start immediately after.
If I take the lashings, I can cover my own healing and be down a spell or two for the fight, but I don't cast all that much anyway.
I am, of course, open to other ideas.
Artevious de Poisson |
In say we all demonstrate a bit of lackluster performance, and Plugg and Scourge will have no choice but to either try to lash us all or leave us be. Given what he'll probably choose, our course will thus be set.
Evril Cooper |
I'm down with doing this at night, but we'll probably have darkness penalties to worry about. Then again, most of their side will as well.
Doing this at night presents us with the problem of Sandara and Samms being on the wrong side of the doors, and in with most of our enemies.
DM Shisumo |
Okay, on the battle map, your fellow mutineers - the ones who don't have separate initiatives (or, for that matter, separate stat blocks) are represented by the female pirate icon in H2, H6, J7, L7, N3 and O5. I'm not worried about who is who at this point - if it matters, we can worry about it later or just handle it narratively. In contrast, the other "generic" picture represents one of the pirates loyal to Plugg - basically, anyone who isn't on your side and isn't Plugg or Scourge. Likewise, if we need to know who is who, I'll worry about it when it comes up. I went ahead and placed Chum and Artevious; Eleuterio and Evril, along with Sandara and Fishguts, are below and therefore not on the map. When they hit the main deck, they'll be coming up from the stairs at L5 - begin any move as though you were in L5 when you started on the turn you make it to the deck.
Any questions?
