Archery, with Twohanded a close second.

Tristan is coming together somewhat. He was conceived before the Urban Ranger archetype, and it fits him perfectly. I built him to be a switch-hitter, but right now he's just going to be a melee brute. I'll reconfigure him later if the campaign guide warrants it.

So with a fighter and urban ranger (with trapfinding) it would seem that you guys need a healer, arcanist, and probably a "versatile" 5th member like a bard or alchemist.

I feel that Gan fits nicely in there, but of course I'm biased. Don't let my 11 AC scare you away. :-)

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring with Faunra Variel, Elven Bard. She lives in Sandpoint and works at the Inn(can't remember the name at the moment).

I believe there are two major inns in town, The White Deer near the cathedral and the Rusty Dragon closer to the docks.

The rusty dragon...thanks that was driving me nuts. My mind came up with the rusty bucket but I knew that was wrong...lol.

I put her background in the profile and then removed one of my traits to bring this up to snuff.

Well here is Marcelina. She's finished except for the equipment which isn't going to be much beyond a spear and some leather armor. SOme misc travel gear but that's it.

This is Atapax btw. :)

Good concepts keep coming in! I've set myself a challenge coming up with just three to choose from...

Actually, I think I will try to make a swashbuckler archetype for the fighter using Lamsel's current class as the inspiration.

Wow, looking at the swashbuckler compared to the fighter, I'm not sure where to make changes to try and create an archetype. There are a lot of roguish abilities in the swashbuckler - are they the equivalent of a bonus feat, questions like that. Looks like a longer-term project than just over the weekend like I'd hoped.

Looking forward to finding out who's made the cut, sir. I don't envy you the task.

Is the BLaded scarf OK? I don't have the Inner Sea book, I took stats off the Pathfinder OGC. Other equipment fixed. He still has a little cash to buy stuff. After looking at Lamsfel and Tristan, I'll dump plans to take a level of ranger. (I took the trait to get the survival skill as a class feature, and I'll skip the class bonus on ride and handle animal that I would get via ranger.) I'll give him some arcane flavor later via rogue talents or a dip into an arcane class. Hmmm. Maybe I want to rework him as a bard.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring as well. Here's Miura Saburo, Tien rogue and merchant.

All thoughts are welcome. :)

I realized I forgot to pick an Oracle Curse. So I edited for that. She has Tongues.. and I picked Aquan for the language. For obvious reasons. :)

Cool concept, but I feel like agile maneuvers is a bit wasted on a rogue. Have you considered taking weapon finesse instead? A net plus 2 to hit could be invaluable when going for a sneak attack.

@Marcelina--I love the Oracle of Waves concept. I was THIS close to making one for the CoT maptools game I'm doing, but settled on an arrogant cavalier instead, hehe. Have you looked at the water sight Revelation? It looks like it might not be that great, but it gets better as you level and allows for a neat trick even at level 1. You can cast Obscuring Mist and sit back and snipe with your crossbow. You're effectively invisible so extremely hard to hit, but you can still see to shoot (and get a pretty big bonus as well, which coupled with your +2 dex bonus could make you a decent ranged attacker). Anyway, just something to consider.

Not trying to be a munchkin or a know-it-all, just giving my two cents. Heck, Gan is far from optimal :-)

Also, still not 100% sure of my patron. I put Insanity in my profile, but still considering Trickery and Deception.

Tybus is now much more complete. If you see anything you have any questions about, let me know.

Sorry for the late entry but I'd like you to consider this character for the game.

Sharistan is a woman who was always enchanted by the stories her father told of Tian Xia. As she grew up in Absalom, she made sure to incorporate the learning of that culture into her studies. (More in the character profile)

Mechanically she's a Bard (Geisha), focusing on social skills and spellcasting over combat. I think she'd fit well into this game!

While I haven't been in any other games on this messageboard I used to do a lot of PBP over at ENWorld in high school. Now that I'm finished with college I've got more time and want to get back to playing.

Thanks for your consideration :-)

Finesse is actually what I meant to take. I'd considered Agile Maneuvers, and changed my mind to Finesse. I just forgot to change it on the sheet. Thanks for pointing out that suggestion. It's now corrected. :)

I'm curious about your "racial" line to get proficiency with the bladed scarf?

Actually I did look at the water sight revelation, and deffinitly plan on taking it soon. Possibly next. The problem with that combo is that it's great for me, but not so great for melee allies stuck in it.

Hey Hey Hey there is only room for one bard here buddy. *looks intimidating*

"This old thing? You've good taste in clothes, my friend. But my scarf is more than colorful. It's also an ancient weapon of the Varisian people. See the blades sewn here? I can cut an apple from a branch 5' over my head. Very handy when you're hungry in autumn."

Fluff-wise, I vaguely recall from one of the RotRL books that the bladed scarf was a traditional Varisian weapon. I'd have to look up the exact reference. It's a family thing.

Pathfinder WIki supports that memory, although I believe the 10' attack was later nerfed to 5'because the scarf is not listed as a reach weapon in the OGC.

Crunch-wise I took the exotic weapon proficiency.

I see Varisians as gypsies. Trig is an outdoorsman, supplementing the family cook-pot by hunting and gathering on the road. At towns he'll give shows in trick riding, when he becomes as skilled as his cousins. (Ideally I'd like to sink skills in handle animal and some more in ride as he levels. )

"A thousand pardons, sir. Just a passing fancy. When you're young there's so many things you'd like to try someday."

*still eyeing Trig* Okay and I guess if you want I could start teaching you the ways of the bard.

@DM:Just wondering at what time today will we be find out who made it?

Obviously this is jumping the gun a bit since we don't even know who's making the cut, but with so many Varisians out there I figured I'd throw out that I'm more than willing to tie Marcelina's BG into the same troop as another Varisian.

Applications officially close in a little over an hour, and I'll make a final decision shortly thereafter and get a post up. I'm also planning to have both a game thread and an OOC thread up this afternoon as well, since I am excited to get this show on the road. :D

I have no objections to the weapon itself, and it's certainly suitable for the character, but EWP has a +1 BAB prereq - 1st level rogues can't take it.

A beautiful theory ruined by an ugly fact.

Any chance of taking the feat now to kick in at 2nd level when he gets the +1? If not, s'okay. I can wait until third level.

"... leaves me here to sober up with hardly any coin for meals. You don't do that, not to your brother. Next I see him I'll feed him my fist by the blessing Dranngvit..."

Angry grumbling announces the arrival of a fire haired Dwarf with thick bushy eyebrows pushed together into a scowl as he banters on to no one in particular. By the expression of the waitstaff this isn't the first time he's passed through the main hall.

"... 'right then, time's come for me to state it clearly. I'm runnin' low on funds and I'm prepared to do what needs done 'til the time my brother, mites fill his beard, pulls back to port."

He stops in the middle of the main hall and looks around the room slowly.

"Torag has blessed me with wisdom ta see my former strategy was sub-optimal. Seems I'll be in Sandpoint fer some time and I'm lookin' fer honest work if it dont involve climbin' ladders. In the service a' Torag, I offer my prayers, my sweat, my skills and my hammer to the good people a' Sandpoint."

He pauses, looks around and nods his head.

"Ok, then!" he says, with a loud clap of his hands as he turns toward the bar. Holding one finger up as if he just remembered something. "'Name's Dorrak when ya need me!" With that, he turns to the bar to order a drink.

OOC stuff: Dorrak is a priest of Torag (finishing the crunchy bit of attribute rolls, etc) who has a past of favoring too much strong drink and other narcotics. Dorrak's younger brother Nalgan, at the request of their parents, brought Dorrak on a trading expedition in an attempted intervention. After several weeks of constant inebriation, Nagal left Dorrak in Sandpoint with stern instructions to sober up. It's been three weeks and as his coin purse is becoming empty, he's finally getting the hint.

Hopefully my app isn't too late and I'll keep my fingers crossed that there is space in the group and interest to include this character.

This is the first time I've done the "take applications" version of PbP recruitment, and I'm not sure I will ever do it again: choosing between so many awesome character ideas is pretty frickin' torturous. However, after hammering my head against the wall for quite some time this morning, I've made the following selections - Tybus, Gan, and Marcelina.

To the rest of you: thank you very much for making this as hard as it was; I really loved looking all the incredibly cool concepts. I invite you to lurk in the thread, post in the OOC discussion if you like, and generally hang out with us. Also, this PbP is something of an experiment - should the prologue go well, I will likely start a second one, and anyone who made the application deadline (including Dorrak) and did not get chosen will have first claim on spots in that one. (If only because that way I don't have to go through this again...)

Tristan, Lamsfel, Gan, Marcelina, Tybus: please join me in the discussion thread at your earliest convenience.

Congratulations to the winners.

Thanks for the consideration! Hope y'all have a fun game :-)
