Well, when you fail your soft fall check you take 1d6 damage and you are prone. The way it's worded, it seems that you are not prone if you succeed. So Lamsfel probably saw Tristan slice the gobbo and cleave through to the dog. Then the gobbo manages to land safely on his feet.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Seeing Tybus stand between her and danger dispite the blood pouring from his wound, Marcelina uses the last of her magical energy to do what she can for the brave man once again.

Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Thank goodness the healing dice like me. :)

This is indeed what he saw. The no-longer-mounted goblin is still on his feet. (Clearly, I need to figure out a way to be more clear about ongoing status effects, both or myself and for you guys...)

If we are disregarding the actual initiative orders, then I think the order of posting determines what happens first. Tristan blasted the mounted goblin and his mount while Lamsfel was still 30' up the alley. When Lamsfel got to the end of the alley, he saw the aftermath. Besides, I am not changing my action again - right or wrong, he's pursuing the footgoblin now.

Don't worry - that problem is about to take care of itself.

The goblin with the polearm takes a step back, slashing at Tristan with the hooked blade. Horsechopper attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11. However, the effort seems to take a surprising toll on him - his anger suddenly fades, his eyes roll up into his head, and he collapses into the street.

The remaining goblin, though it is able to deflect Tybus' swing, suddenly finds itself surrounded. Having little other choice, it slashes at Tybus once again with its flimsy blade. Dogslicer attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12, damage 1d4 ⇒ 4.

The old woman hiding behind the rain barrel suddenly comes around the corner, holding a starknife in one hand. Despite her age, she moves quickly and with a purpose, coming up to stand next to Tristan with her weapon out protectively.

Based on the discussion thread, I believe Marcelina and Lamsfel both recognize this woman. It is Koya Mvashti.

Your actions, guys. Get 'im!

Male Human Bladebound Magus 3

The surge of healing makes Tybus feel instantly better, and he allows for a brief grin as he realizes his trust wasn't misplaced. He sidesteps an errant swing from the goblin and places himself in a spot to help Lamsfel's attacks, if he doesn't connect.

Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

I've set 'im up, you take 'im down, mate!

Male Human Summoner (Synthesist) 1/ Paladin 2

Since Tristan was originally hit for four by the charging goblin, I believe that vicious 11 damage hit knocks him into negatives. So...

Tristan! Inspired by the bravery of his new companions, Gan moves over to protect Tristan, brandishing his knife.

He gives a deathstare to the remaining goblin, Evil Eye-ing its Armor class.

"Tybus, my friend, we think much alike." Looking to the goblin, "As for you, my friend..."

Attack #1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Attack #2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Tybus, I doubt a 10 will hit, but you appear to have forgotten the flanking bonus that you provided Lamsfel on your own attack.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Marcelina calls out as she sees Tristan drop, obviously frustrated at herself for not being able to save both him and Tybus. She rushes over to Tristan's side. With no magic at her disposal, she instead does what she can to stem the tide of blood.

Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Not sure if she's gonna get an AoO for that, but she's trying to work it so she doesn't.

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

"Guys, I think I could use some help here... uh-oh..." Tristan looks incredulous as the blood spouts from his lower belly. Silently he topples into a heap.

28/28 hp

"Lady Leena, Madama Koya! Can you aid him?"

The goblin turns its blade back on Lamsfel, trying to cut its way past the elf. Dogslicer attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13, damage 1d4 ⇒ 4

Koya steps away from the melee, then bends down and murmurs something as she leans over Tristan, touching his head and chest. "Să ne vis împreună de sănătate şi de sprijin de la răni..."

Varisian:
"Let us dream together of health and succor from wounds..."

Koya casts cure moderate wounds on Tristan for 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (8, 6) + 4 = 18 hp.

You guys are up again.

Koya casts cure moderate wounds on Tristan for 2d8 + 4 hp.

Hey DM, can you roll the Goblin's WS for Evil Eye from my last turn? If he failed then I'll cast Daze on him. If he succeeded then I'll Evil Eye his AC again. Either way, I'll Cackle as well. Doesn't REALLY matter, as I doubt this guy will be alive much longer, hehe.

Gan once again brings the baleful powers of his patron down upon the hapless Goblin.

Will save on Evil Eye: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

Will save on daze: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

Blinking, Tristan tries to make sense of the blurry people standing over him. "Did we win?" he mutters, unsteadily trying to rise. As he becomes aware of Koya he bows and mumbles some thanks, suddenly embarrassed at the state of his shirt.

Tristan will rise and grab his sword again.

28/28 hp

"Ah, let's play, shall we?"

Attack #1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Attack #2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Male Human Bladebound Magus 3

Well fought, friend! Estimating that the amount of damage Lamsfel likely delt is more than enough to drop the goblin

And it looks like Tristan still be with us! Desna be praised! An' thankee, ladies, for your healing touch.

He looks around for any further attack in this alley while shaking off the blood from his cutlass.

The elf's daggers make quick and final work of the goblin.

Once the battle ends, the group finds that the larger battle is ending as well. The sounds of fighting have at last ended, though the flames and smoke remain. The goblins are fleeing, and the town's militia has finally organized to run the remainder off.

Koya smiles benignly up at the much younger Tristan. "Yes, m'boy. yes you did," she says, patting his cheek. Looking around at the rest of you, "You did a good thing, all of you," she adds. "You were heroes tonight."

And one last bunch of 174 XP.

28/28 hp

Lamsfel cleans his daggers with the goblin's rags before sheathing them both since it seems they won't be needed. Nodding to Tybus, he says, "We fight well together, my friend. I'm glad you were there to distract the runt."

He walks to Koya, a smile on his face. "Young mother, it is good to see you again. I'm only glad I bothered to carry my daggers today. I almost did not, wishing to avoid offense at Desna's party. Are you well? And your revered mother?"

"Better than I might have been without your help, my boy, and that of you and your friends. You, however, owe my mother a visit. She still asks after you, you know. Marcelina! It is lovely to see you again! What brings you to town?" Koya smiles, holding out her hands to take Marcelina's in her hands. "It seems that the young girl I saved so many years ago has become a beautiful young woman and returned the favor! Are you married yet, child? Or have you not yet decided which of these handsome men will be the lucky fellow?" Koya cackles in a good-natured fashion, and gives Gan a broad wink. "Perhaps you might save one for me...?"

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

Tristan blushes, stammers some sort of thank you and rushes off to try to find a new shirt, covering himself up as best he can.

28/28 hp

The lanky elf bows deeply, grin firmly in place, "But, of course, my dear. I've only barely arrived in town. Your mother would appreciate my desire to see Desna's celebration firsthand. Is she at her familiar abode, or is she out and about this wild evening?"

Taking her by the elbow, he begins to direct her toward the porch of the Rusty Dragon, calling over his shoulder, "Tybus, I should have thought of this earlier, but goblins are notorious at re-using trash - we should not leave anything on the bodies that another might come along and use. I'll help you gather up their gear as soon as the young mother is off the street."

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Marcelina takes a moment to let the ice around her melt off, using it to rinse Tristan's blood from her hands before she takes the woman's hand. Standing, she gives her a shy smile along with a deep blush. "It is very good to see you again as well, Koya. It has deffinitly been too long." She walks along as Lamsfel walks Koya to the inn. "No marraige for me yet, I'm afraid. I only came here to see the ocean, I had no idea that you would be here. But I must say it does make me happy to see a familiar face."

Male Human Summoner (Synthesist) 1/ Paladin 2

Gan stares in disbelief as Tristan jumps back to his feet.

That goblin nearly cut you in half! My lady, your power is great indeed!

Gan then chuckles at Koya's insinuation, then looks at the others.

That was the first time in my life that I held my own in a fight instead of running scared. I am honored to have fought alongside you brave individuals.

28/28 hp

"You did well, sir, and were welcome to do so. My name is Lamsfel." The elf extends a hand in greeting. "We neglected to meet before we were thrown into life-and-death combat," he adds with a wink.

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

Tristan looks at Gan gravely. "I think I owe you something too, uncle. I can't tell how but I felt your magic guide my hand. It is only by helping each other that we managed to take out those marauders. For that I thank you all. By the way, my name is Tristan." He can't help spoiling the effect of his words with a sheepish smile.

My, you're a tall one. The name is Gan Liang--I'm not from these parts but have lived nearby for awhile. It's nice to see that there are brave souls willing to help strangers in need. I'm afraid I haven't been as cordial in the past to the people of Sandpoint. I hope I can change that now.

Shakes hand.

Well met, Tristan. You fought bravely as well. And it was not my magic, but the power of the Faceless One, who speaks to me in times of need.

Gan trails off...

"You should be proud of yourself," Koya tells Gan, sobering a little. "On a terrible night, you did good things. I can assure you, Sandpoint will remember that." With that, Koya leads her saviors into the Rusty Dragon, pausing only for a moment to close her eyes and murmur a soft prayer over the body of the dead dog.

Inside the Dragon, a number of patrons huddle behind toppled tables, and the only light is the dimming embers in the fireplace. Behind the bar, a beautiful Tian woman with a black tattoo of a snake crawling up her left shoulder is covering the door with a longbow, eyes narrowed in a dangerous fashion, but she smiles broadly in recognition as she sees Koya. "Koya!" she cries. "You're safe! Get in here, quickly. What's the situation?"

Koya shakes her head, raising her hands in a calming movement. "No fears, my girl, no fears. The goblins look to be gone, and these good people saved me from them, risking death to do so. Ameiko, my child, I'm afraid I've got news both good and bad. The bad news is, if these good folk tell their tales in your bar, you'll never have another full price room out of them. The good, however, is the rest of your customers will buy them so many rounds you'll make the money back and more..." Koya cackles a laugh, and Ameiko, after a moment, chuckles as well.

"So.. it's clear out there?" Ameiko asks. Looking around at her patrons for a moment, she then turns to the group. "I'd like to take a look around myself, but I'm not leaving these people without some kind of protection. If Koya vouches for you, though, I'm not afraid to leave them in your hands. Will you watch things here while I make sure everything's safe to send them back to their homes?"

28/28 hp

"Young lady, I would agree with Koya, but if we are mistaken, I would rather be there to watch your back. Besides, I'd hate to miss out on more fun." He smiles and winks as he says this.

"Of course, I understand if you insist on going it alone. Just know that I would come along if you wish."

Welcome back! Hope GenCon was a blast for you!

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

Tristan, who is feeling a little more comfortable again (especially if he's had time to put on his armor) also volunteers to take a look outside. "I know my way about town pretty well for a newcomer, so if I may be of assistance, I'm happy to oblige. But I guess these people could use some protection too."

Ameiko ponders for a moment, but only briefly. "No offense, but I think I'll go faster alone. Don't worry, I won't be gone long. And I'm not really looking for any 'fun,' either. If I run into more goblins, I'll either find the militia or come back for you guys. I just want to know everyone can get back to their homes without running into the kneebiters." Grinning, she adds, "But maybe I can sweeten the pot for you, and at the same time guarantee I'll be back quickly. Bethana!"

A halfling girl, fairly young and short even for one of her kind, pokes her head around the end of the bar, blinking owlishly up at Ameiko. "Yes?" the girl asks.

"Open the taps. Everyone gets a free drink every five minutes till I get back."

Bethana looks surprised, but the atmosphere in the inn shifts noticably, as Ameiko's attitude and offer both begin to affect the patrons. A few people hesitantly climb to their feet, looking to the party as their new protectors. Ameiko smiles warmly, then turns back to you. "Deal?"

28/28 hp

Shaking his head and smiling, the elf casually salutes the innkeeper. "At your command, ma'am. Tybus, Tristan, I will take first watch on the porch."

As she leaves, he will move to the door and watch her go, but more importantly, watch the streets for any new goblin threats.

Male Human Summoner (Synthesist) 1/ Paladin 2

Gan looks around and smiles, perhaps finally finding a place where he can fit in. He nods at Ameiko, appreciating her hospitality and admiring dare I say, almost worshipping her like a hero :-)her courage. He moves towards the bar, begins shyly introducing himself to the locals, and orders a drink, asking the bartender to give him one of whatever these fine people are drinking.

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

Tristan rushes upstairs to get into his armor before more trouble erupts.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Marcelina hurries upstairs, comming down soon after in armor and carrying a spear. After taking another quick look around to make sure nothing has happened in her absence, she makes her way over to a chair near Koya and collapses into it, obviously exhausted.

Male Human Bladebound Magus 3

The promise of free drinks is eagerly accepted. Tybus looks around as everyone heads off on their own errands. He then shrugs, grabs a foaming mug of the local bitter, sets his cutlass upon a table and sits, propping his feet up on a nearby chair.

Gan, was it? Come on and ease off those pegs. To being heroes! May these townsfolk never catch on to us! He raises his mug in salute with a bright grin and the exhiliration of facing death and surviving.

When the others return, armed and armored, Tybus is probably on his second. He raises his mug to each as they arrive.

Out on the porch, Lamsfel (and anyone watching with him) sees a quiet, basically empty street. The sounds of fighting have disappeared entirely, and though the smoke continues to drift over the town, the sky is cloudless as the stars begin to flicker into view. With the warm breeze off the bay and the cool autumn night air, it is a beautiful, peaceful night, at shocking odds with the events that occurred less than an hour before.

Bethana is about halfway through pouring the third round for the house when Lamsfel sees Ameiko step out of an alley, trailed by another man, a tall, rakishly handsome Varisian with a well-trimmed goatee. He carries a scimitar loosely in one hand, and Lamsfel's elven eyes pick out spatters of blood on the blade and in small spots across the man's clothes. Ameiko sees Lamsfel waiting and raises a hand, smiling and leading her companion over. "Lamsfel, right?" Ameiko grins, gesturing to the man with her. "Sandru Vhiski. All quiet here?"

The Varisian, Sandru, nods his head in recognition. "We've met. Lamsfel here came by Koya's place often when I was much younger. It's a pleasure to meet you again," he adds, extending his hand.

Ameiko leads the two men back into the Rusty Dragon, where the mood has lightened considerably under the influence of three pints of ale each. "My good friends!" Ameiko calls out, cutting easily through the chatter. "The goblins are indeed gone! It is safe to go home. Before you do, though, I'd like to say something. While I was out, I met Father Zantus, who told me that these good people," and she points to you all, "in addition to saving the life of our dear mistress Mvashti right in front of this very inn, not only saved the good Father's life from a goblin warrior, but also kept them from sending a burning wagon crashing down the bluff and setting half the town on fire. So since you're all holding drinks I paid for anyway, I order you now to lift them in recognition of the heroes of Sandpoint! To the heroes!"

With a roar of acclaim, the patrons down their drinks and leap to their feet, pounding your backs and shouting thanks to you.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Blushing profusely, Marcelina can only smile and do her best to convey to the rowdy crowd that they are welcome and that it was really nothing. Still, even with the shock and distaste of battle wearing off, she can't find much else to say but joins in the celebration with Varisian enthusiasm. In the press of the crowd she finds herself once again near to her fellow heroes. Turning to Tristan first, then Lamsfel and Gan, she drops a little curtsey. "I'm afraid I never properly introduced myself. My name is Marcelina. I thank you for your protection today." With that she turns back to Tybus, offering him a hand for a dance.

It still amazes me what a different ten years can make - you are looking great, my young friend!" With a conspiratorial whisper, he adds, "I'm told that I need to make haste to see Koya - perhaps you can come along and defend me."

Lamsfel looks more than a little embarrassed at all the attention, but he smiles and goes along with it, pointing at the other heroes and bragging on their exploits if anyone asks for details of the fight.

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

As he realizes that the battle is over, Tristan relaxes and distractedly downs a tankard before smiling at Marcelina and the others, returning her salute.

He looks a bit starstruck at the entrance of Ameiko and Sandru and is a bit lost for words, instead turning to the others patrons at the bar and showing them some beer games, while absentmindedly fingering the scar from the dogslicer and stealing sly glances of the more seasoned warriors.

Male Human Summoner (Synthesist) 1/ Paladin 2

Gan, a bit drunk, lifts his glass to toast the "heroes", then looks around sheepishly as he realizes that they are including him as one of them. He grins, unable to contain his excitement.

Male Human Bladebound Magus 3

Tybus stands and bows to the crowd, and accepts their cheers and thanks as best as he can muster. Being used to more surly places, this place is almost surreal. He sheaths his sword as the bar fills up with patrons and laughs with everyone.

When Marcelina invites him to dance, his smile becomes even brighter, and takes her hand and kisses it before leading her onto the floor.

You have food, drink and companionship (in a variety of meanings) available to you if you desire them. Anyone have specific plans for the remainder of the night?

Male Varisian (human) Ranger 3

Tristan will go easy on the beer, since he's trying to stay on top of his game. He'll use his juggling talents to try to impress the crowd and maybe catch Sandru's or Ameiko's attention. It's a bit pathetic, but it's all he's got.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

Male Human Summoner (Synthesist) 1/ Paladin 2

Gan will get a bit drunk and just enjoy other people's company for once. If he can at some point he'll try to talk to Ameiko a bit about home.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

Marcelina doesn't drink heavily, but she does let herself relax and enjoy the company. She enjoys dancing and accepts any invitation to dance, not focussing her attentions intentionally on anyone present. Eventually she'll head back to her room, but probably not until the tavern has emptied considerably or the wee hours of the morning.

Perform: Dance - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

28/28 hp

Lamsfel will remain on the periphery of the crowd, just enjoying seeing everyone having fun and being relaxed. He will certainly visit with whoever approaches him, but he's fine just leaning against the wall and watching, too.

He will accept an ale, but only sips on it, making it last nearly the night. When Marcellina excuses herself, he sees that as a good time to make his exit and he follows suit. He accompanies her as far as her door, making small talk, and wishes her a peaceful night's rest before going on to his room. Did we determine that he was sharing bunk space with Tybus? If so, he will make sure Tybus doesn't need privacy before he lets himself into their shared quarters.

Male Human Bladebound Magus 3

Tybus will enjoy the attention and accolades of the crowd and will politely dance with the village ladies, but will reserve most of his attention for Marcelina, if she'll have it. He won't push, however. He's never met anyone like her, and he owes her his life, in the way all comrades-at-arms do.

When she retires, he'll accept another round and sway back to the bunk in the room he shares with Lamsfel.

Perhaps Tristan's motives are a little on the lame side, but he is clearly inspired by his audience and the company of his heroes, because his performance is really nothing short of dazzling. While he spins knives, ale mugs, scarves and small, hard apples through the air, a sizable crowd gathers, Sandru and Koya among them, and the two Varisians applaud as loud as any when he finishes - a few coins are even hurled his way without him asking for them. If he likes, Tristan can scoop 1d6 ⇒ 1 gp off the floor for his efforts. When he finally finishes, another round of drinks is pressed upon him, and one of the local girls, Shayliss Vinder, begins gliding toward him with a predatory gleam in her eye before being dragged back by her older sister Katrine.

Gan Liang wrote:

Ameiko shrugs, unoffended but uninterested in the topic. "Never been there," she tells him. "Don't think even my father has, in fact. My grandparents were Tian, sure, but my home's Sandpoint, born and raised. でも、私は天話しますか," she adds with a wink.

Tian:
"I do speak Tian, though."

It is up to Marcelina how she responds to Tybus - I'll let her answer that.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle (Waves): 1

If Tybus takes the time to focus his attentions on Marcelina, she does nothing to discourage him, spending most of the evening near him. When she isn't dancing, she is quite interested in any of Tybus' stories, esspecially ones of the ocean and it quickly becomes apparent that she is facinated by it. In the end, though, she does take her leave after one final dance, and heads back to her own room.
