Bolts of silk cloth and spools of silken thread fill much of the storeroom that Nesipho finds himself peering into. A set of steps with wooden railings in the southeast corner leads down below ground level.

Nesipho gives a scowl at having missed something that should have been obvious to him. My mind must be on other things...
He looks around for something sturdy to stand on or use to climb up to trap door.
If nothing suitable is found will cast levitate and float up to it.
He takes a moment to listen before pushing it open.
Assuming GM hidden roll for the perception check.

Did I need to cast levitate? Or was I able to find something stable enough to stand on?
Nesipho grunts, "We'll have to come back to that, but before we make any more noise let's head down."

Nesipho holds up one finger, in a moment, then circles around from below, trying to see if he can see anything from any angle, while listening closely for more sounds.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
If he doesn't spot anything he will send his dancing lights through the hole, and follow a few seconds behind them.

Still not sure if I needed to use a levitate or not or found something to stand on. Regardless of how I'm getting up there though...
Nesipho cautiously positions himself to get his eye level past the trap door, ready to duck back down at a moments notice, then twists his head side to side to get a good view of the room above.

There are boxes you could use to climb up.
As soon as Nesipho pokes his head above the door, there is a chorus of bowstrings as arrows flash toward him from what seems like every direction.
Fortunately, you have improved cover, given your positioning, for a total of +8 AC.

Once the barrage is over, Nesipho can see its source: three humans with shortbows, crouching in the rafters, and a bird-like humanoid with a longbow, flying in the open space between the rafters - the arrow he has nocked sparks with electricity. Nesipho recognizes this individual as the entity that shot at the group yesterday.
