Least I won't be completely useless, Adeah thinks wryly as she remembers the magical enhancement she'd had placed on her musket only a few weeks ago. Didn't expect to be fighting a ghost though.

Musket shot vs allip (touch): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

CLINK! The shot turns sideways in the chamber, its powder leaking to the floor. Adeah lowers the weapon to clear it-- and the spent ammunition turns ghostly transparent and falls straight through the chamber. It regains its solidity and hits the floor with a small thud.

Adeah stares blankly. What the... She regains her composure just enough to load a new round.

As a battle host occultist, her bonded item is immune to the broken condition. :-)

Looks like somebody tried to prepare to fight the dead in this place--didn't save 'em, though. We should coat our arrows and Adeah's bullets with these crystals, just in case.

The blanches work on 10 pieces of ammo, better than one shot with a melee weapon, IMO. Do you guys agree? I'd like to coat a few arrows in ghost salt and silver, and I think everyone who has ranged weapons should do the same before we proceed. Smoke 'em if you got 'em in PFS, right?

Almost forgot about this!

Realization dawns on Magrim as he retreats a step, dropping his hammer to the ground with a crash and unslinging his bow. He draws a ghost salt arrow from his quiver and takes aim at the Allip.

Gertie, Heel! Kel, get clear! he shouts, waiting for a clear shot.

Ready action to shoot ghost salt arrow when Kel backs up: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Gertie backs away from the stitched corpses, heeding her master's wishes.

Would it be alright if we have Kel withdraw instead of delaying? If he delays he just stands there to get beat on and essentially gives the Allip +4 AC vs ranged. If he withdraws he can try to save his bacon after the nasty hit and doesn't give us the firing into melee penalty. Cool?

All good Rog

Once destroyed, the Sage of Plagues fades away, and its maddening babble is finally silenced. The Northman and his band seem very impressed "You will always find safe passage on my ship should ever you need it!" - he is soon satisfied with some simple impressive looking but rather useless items and heads off to claim his legend.

As promised, Amenopheus arrives in an hour. At first he bemoans the loss of the jewel, but he quickly realizes that the shards hold a glimmer of magic and may still contain several of the Ruby Sage’s memories. Amenopheus uses his magic to contact the spirit of the Ruby Sage, who briefly animates her nearby corpse and restores it to how she must have appeared in life. She thanks you all for putting her colleague’s spirit to rest and can explain the events that led to her death—the same events that led to her sage jewel’s near-destruction.

Through the gem, she has maintained a limited degree of awareness, and she also related that until only day before, the topaz and emerald jewels sat on this table alongside her. When the thief handled one of her shards, she was able to read his thoughts before he discarded the fragment and fled. She identifies the thief as a man named Kafar, who had intentions of delivering the jewels to the Diamond Sage in a region known as the Pillars of the Sun. It is there that the Jeweled Sages’ built their sanctum, but it strikes both her and Amenopheus as odd that the Diamond Sage would collect the gems there instead of finding new candidates to become sages elsewhere in Osirion.

Amenopheus voices his concern that the Diamond Sage’s actions are not typical for the order, and he is dismayed that the jewels may be in the hands of known enemies of the Pathfinder Society.

Sharing her fellow sage’s concern, the Ruby Sage offers her power—mythic power—to the PCs if they are willing to chase down the thief Kafar, reclaim the stolen jewels, and find the Diamond Sage to learn what she intends. With that said, her corpse slumps and returns to its desiccated form.

With the thief Kafar headed to the Pillars of the Sun, Amenopheus teleports the party back to Eto to resupply before they make the trek to the south. He warns you allthat the Pillars of the Sun is a very dangerous region of towering rocks, searing wind, and terrible beasts. With the fate of his order riding on the PCs success, he announces that he will accompany them to Sanctum of the Sages.

Amenophus removes any curses, and you can be rid of any foul diseases

End scenario!

Before we launch in to the next scenario though, how are we placed for participation? Rog and Kel seem a bit tied up at the moment, which means only half the party is functional - and the last part is pretty action heavy. I'm fine to kick off, but only if we have a party good to roll. I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks if that will make things more playable

Henrick is ready to rock, but I also don't have a problem waiting for a few weeks. He is leveling up to 4, and I already have another chronicle to apply as well, so he might be a little more useful (or at least more hardy) when the action hits.

Good news on bluedove! Glad to hear things are better.

Feb 5 works fine for me. Also, I just leveled Henrick up, and as we are in the desert, I think he will be taking on a camel as an animal companion. So that might be interesting... He also will be spending some time learning linguistics and ancient Osirion language skills.

Yeah, I'm thinking Agraic's picking that up, too. He may not be the brightest coin in the bank, but...

Kel just leveled up, so I don't think he's due to level this time. He is, however, going to invest in something that can help with incorporeal enemies.

Destiny of the Sands, Part 3: Sanctum of the Sages

The growing light of predawn filters in through a window of the two-story building that Amenopheus has rented in Eto, and the aging Garundi man takes a seat on one of the cushions set out for this meeting. He produces a sealed letter from his robe, placing it in the middle of the floor before speaking.

“Good morning, Pathfinders. As you know, we have had our share of setbacks recently. Not only have the emerald and topaz gems sacred to my order slipped through our fingers, but we also faced the frustration of finding nothing but fragments of the once great ruby. Thankfully, its power is not lost entirely, and through the Ruby Sage’s blessing, it lives on in you. I am thankful that you have agreed to act on her behalf and see this through to the end".

“As we speak, the scoundrels who seized the two gems cross the Pillars of the Sun to meet their employer, the cryptic Diamond Sage.” He sighs heavily. “What she intends to do with the gems is a mystery, but the sage jewels are too important for me to take risks with. If the power that you wield is representative of a shattered jewel’s potential, imagine what one might accomplish with three undamaged stones! Until we know what her plans are, it is paramount that we get to the jewels first".[/b]

“Kafar and Nefti have a rudimentary map of the Pillars of the Sun, and last night I found a bartender who spotted them poring over it between drinks. She recalled little of the map, and she could not make sense of the marks or annotations; however, the right spells have allowed me to probe her mind and determine Kafar and Nefti’s entry point into the mountains. We will follow them from there.” With a somewhat chagrined smile, Amenopheus adds, “It may be that they will lead us to the Sanctum of the Sages, a hidden complex I have long suspected might be in this area.”

He stands and announces, “Prepare yourselves quickly. We shall leave momentarily.”

24 hour check-ins etc, last purchases and all that fun stuff, as well as any questions etc. Per the map linked above, you are back in the trade city of Eto, so just about anything you need can be purchased.

Henrick nods and goes out to resupply. As the group gathers to head out, you see he has acquired a well equipped camel, complete with saddle, saddlebacks, and much of his travelling gear.

"This here is Joe. He is an ornery sort, so don't fuss with him much. But he seems to have taken to me, so I figure why not - we can use a beast to carry our gear."

I think I noted this before, but spent 274 Camel gear (mw studded leather barding, military saddle, saddlebags). Henrick will also pay 4000 gp to get his axe blade on his urgrosh enchanted to +1.

Is it Cold Iron? That would jack that price right up...

*debates buying bulk Holy Water, checking the wallet--not enough for adamantine or a golembane clasp, sadly...*
