Celestra Zomesco |
Round 2
Celestra does a double move and uses her agile feet to ignore difficult terrain for a round.
"Ailetha, what is going on? I thought I heard the sound of battle? Is everybody safe?"
GM Shifty |
As above :)
Gets tricky to keep in order otherwise...
Perception 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 17 + 2 = 25
The undead creature hears Bree move into position and steps away from the flank, but can only see Kabal so he becomes the target.
The first arrow flies at Kabal!
Attack 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 16 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 30
Damage 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 + 1 + (5) = 13
Bree - he has triggered an AoO, you have the option to attack him on that basis. He is still flicking arrows, but what you do will have a bearing on his actions (ie you won't be invisible anymore after you attack) - so let me know yay or nay
Enemy action will resolve after that
GM Shifty |
The dagger strikes, causing him to recoil as ribs crack, and he discontinues showering the space with arrows.
His icicle hand seems ready to start touching people...

Kabal Breven |
A dangerous, low growl rumbled from Kabal as the second arrow tore through him. The angered brute took a short step and went on the offensive with two quick swipes of his great axe.

Forgot to add my strength mod to my that last AoO.
If that doesn't hit, she'll use her Assault Leader to have Kabal take another attack as an immediate action.
Kabal Breven |

Even in the midst of his rage Kabal was able to spot Bree's subtle gesture to a weakness in their enemy's defenses and the axe wielder took full advantage.

Bree, each shot warrants an AoO, but as he is not flanked any longer its not a Sneak shot

Ailetha Aurcalam |
Round 3
Ailetha continues to move forward, finally coming into view of Kabal and whatever it is that he is fighting.
Double Move
Knowledge(whatever): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 <-- add +2 more for Dungeoneering, +4 for Arcane/Planes/Religion
Sable Eboncrow |
Sable whispers, "Feathered friend of ill temper, aid my friend Kabal... of ill temper..." Sable summons a ferocious owlbear in front of Kabal, facing the creature. Using his feral speech and hoping there is enough avian in the beast to understand, "Attack the cold one."
Did Sable see/hear/smell anything as he flew past the other tunnels?
Ailetha Aurcalam |
Be careful all. That creature is not of the living. I believe it is a wight and can suck the life from you if it hits you.
Ailetha wonders why such a creature would favor a bow over draining the living with its touch.
Shifty |
Ailetha wonders why such a creature would favor a bow over draining the living with its touch.
Ailetha notes the speed and accuracy of the arrows - which are far more frequent and lethal than the mediocre and cumbersome singular touch of a Wight... unusual for a wight to use a bow though, just from a skill perspective.
Kabal Breven |

But apparently she is growing tired and is finding her attacks to be more and more ineffectual. She hopes that at the least she can help to keep the wight distracted while the others get into position and that Kabal's injuries are nothing too serious.
Bree Longfield |
Why no second attack Bree?
Because I recalled Shifty having said this before:
As you moved you can only take the standard action (one attack) so you wouldn't get the second stab. Not that it matters, as the creature dies on the first hit
Kabal Breven |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
The only movement you can take during a full attack is a 5-foot step. You may take the step before, after, or between your attacks.
If you get multiple attacks because your base attack bonus is high enough, you must make the attacks in order from highest bonus to lowest. If you are using two weapons, you can strike with either weapon first. If you are using a double weapon, you can strike with either part of the weapon first.
Bree Longfield |
Good to know, wish I'd known sooner :D
Second attack, doubt the frost dagger is the most useful in this case but it's what she had ready.
Frost Dagger 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 2 = 29
Sneak Damage 5d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 1, 8, 7, 7) + 3 = 34
Cold Damage 1d6 ⇒ 2
Crit Confirm Frost Dagger 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 = 28
Sneak Damage 5d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 3, 5) + 3 = 25
Cold Damage 1d6 ⇒ 5
Shifty |
No second attack if you had to move (more than a 5' step) or were taking an AOO, otherwise you are entitled to your full attack routine - sorry if there was confusion :p In that case you had moved into a melee over a greater distance to attack from iirc
The blow from Kabal lands...
At work at the moment sans PDF - will update the Wights status when I get home :p
Ailetha Aurcalam |
Ailetha looks down at the body.
I wonder who this is? Possibly one of the rangers? Whoever he was, he clearly preferred the bow to the usual undead method of attacking which would have involved using the negative energy of undead to suck the life force out of people.
With that, she will cast detect magic, and then begin to carefully search the body, making sure to not touch the skin with her hands unsure of what fell magic might remain within the corpse.
Cast: Detect Magic
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Specifically, she is trying to determine who this person was, if there are any tattoos or other identifications, such as ranger insignias, that would help.
Kabal Breven |
Totally forgot Kabal's DR again. Adjusted HP = 86/129. Fatigued rd 1/4
"Dark and Empty!", Kabal snapped out of his rage with the explitive. The warrior watched Ailetha work as he caught his breath and shrugged at her suggestions of the undead's tactics.
"Dont know. Undead aint normally smart though are they?"
Ailetha Aurcalam |
Ailetha looks her shoulder at Kabal.
Depends on which undead you are speaking of. Zombies and skeletons are unintelligent. Vampires, ghosts and liches would make the greatest living wizards and researchers pale by comparison, many are beyond brilliant.
This was a wight, usually not the smartest, but definitely not stupid. All things considered, wights are probably no smarter, or stupider, than the person they were in life.
Bree Longfield |
Bree moves to stand near Kabal, she looks up at him and says, "It heard you move. Remind me to teach you to walk quietly."
Her eyes fall to his the blood trickling from his wounds and she frowns, "We should get you patched up before moving on. I've got a wand that can help, since you're the only one bleeding, it might be better for Celestra to save her abilities for when we're all hurt?"
She glances to Celestra for confirmation on her statement.
