Me too. Bard is probably my favorite class. I have moods between Bards, Barbarians, and occasionally Paladins.

I'm enjoying a Ranger class and a Rogue right now-
Things like high perception/ dodge/ survival checks have their benefits hahaha :P

I just feel like the Bard, Barbarian, and Paladin are really well balanced classes with lots of options and different approaches with each. Between the three you have good spellcasting, lots of buff and some debuff potential, huge amounts of damage and various different combat utilities at your disposal. Heck, and Bards are pretty much the ultimate skill monkey. XD

My preferences of course. But I really enjoy those three classes.

At the moment:
We miss a divine caster and another healer (paladins can heal a bit, not at this level of course...).
We get 17 skill ranks in total (but not spread over 17 different skills).
The minimum Charisma is 14. Nice. This gives us 3 faces.
None of us has UMD. If we won't have a divine caster that could be a problem.
We have a weight problem. Two of us already are on medium load (I am, but I don't go into melee and except for the movement in combat I could just ignore this).
Is there something else I'm missing?

I'm wearing medium armor that slows me down as much as a medium load, has a lower max dex than medium allows for, and incurs as much of an ACP as my armor, so I don't mind medium load atm. As such, I can carry almost 100 more lbs. Almost.

I concur. I can do virtually nothing about healing until level 4. Lay on hands will only get me 1d6+1 starting next level, but hopefully I can use that to keep aggro.

If I were a half-elf in the truest sense, I would take Use Magic Device. As it stands though, it's not a class skill. I COULD take it anyway if worse comes to worse.

Very insightful, Nessus. *insta-deaths you*

JK!

Let's see let's see let's see here.

Tbh, almost all of the enemies are melee based, though a few of the tougher CR 15 guys will give you a run for your money if you don't have healing.

I have not looked over your skills intensely yet-
Anybody got survival at all? ;) If not, well....

Cyrodil's weather, when Oblivion Gates are active, is not, let's say, the GREATEST place to navigate, even when you are on the road :)

Bretons are half-elf. Not only for the subtype, they are actually Altmers who bred with humans(Link). If it's necessary I'll take UMD (7 ranks per level).

To be 100% honest, roads are more dangerous than forests/hills/swamps. At any moment in the game. I tried that (with an unkillable pc, just for tests). And not, I did't used TGM.

Are you talking about the console game, or...

Are you talking about Sheogorath's Mistrial ;P

I will be fair and tell you this-

On the road you only have a 50% chance of having a "not so fun" encounter.

Off the road you have a 100% chance, every day you travel, of a not so fun encounter.

:P

I'm aware. That's why I made my custom Breton human and elf. I meant for a racial trait.

Then I'll stick behind a patrolling guard!

Nessus you insightful bastard.

Actually, speaking of insight-

Thieves Guild Members- Tell me what you are looking for, in conclusion, to gain from the Thieves Guild.

Fighter's Guild: Evelyn, tell me Shield-Maiden, what are YOU looking to get out of the Fighter's Guild?

After all, we ARE re-writing Elder Scrolls, so don't go too crazy, but gimme some feed back. I'll be building both of their side quest lines this Monday.

C'mon, it's their job!

Well, we will see. :)

I heard that the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal has the ability to hide memories from everyone. Maybe there's a way to use that power to violate the Vanto's Third Law, gaining permanent protection from perception!

Explanation for those who don't remember:
Ancotar, during a quest, explains why it isn't possible to achieve permanent invisibility.

Interesting inquiry, Nessus Gris.

I feel free to award something similar, even to TWO people who worked their way up in the Thieves Guild, however, then, the "aggro" would be on 2 players out of 4 (or 1 / 3)

I wonder how to combat such a thing, as 1 CR 20 creature or a horde of CR 5 beasts against one person may be.... a lot to take in one round :P

I actually typed up my own Paladin code. A few are based on the code of a Paladin of Iomedae, but they're all reworded as appropriate.

Code:

1. I will uphold the good of all, no matter the price, first and foremost.

2. I swear to aggressively seek and rid the world of abominations that ridicule the sanctity of life; the living dead and the creatures of Oblivion and those that would seek control of them.

3. I will have faith in Stendarr. I will channel his strength through my body. I will shine in his legion, and I will not tarnish his glory through base actions.

4. I am the last to leave a battle. If my death would provide time for a companion to reach safety, so be it.

5. I will not be taken by my free will and I will never surrender those under my command.

6. I will never abandon a companion, though I will honor sacrifice freely given.

7. I will never break a vow unless following through with a vow means committing an evil act. Should I ever make such a vow, I must swear three vows in its place.

8. When in doubt, I may force my enemies to surrender, but I am responsible for their lives.

9. I will never refuse a challenge from an equal. I will give honor to worthy enemies, and contempt to the rest.

10. I will not suffer the evil of racial or sexual inequality, especially in the form of slavery. Should this sin be committed, the guilty will be brought to justice.

Evelyn wants to show that the Fighter's Guild is worth more than just being a band of Mercenaries. She wants to give them a more righteous purpose. That purpose is related to her personal code.

Fa'zakar's sights are pretty low at this point - he wants to be more than comfortable; but not in the public eye. A rich recluse perhaps...or the behind-the-scenes leader of a powerful guild...

Excellent excellent excellent. I should be able to meet all your expectations and more :)

Alright! Well, a few more days, then, recruitment will close, I'll create the Guild Quests by Tuesday, run a few practice rounds with myself to make sure the first month or two of PbP is pretty rigid and ready to go, and then I'll let you fellers know (lol fellers) when I'm ready :)

Or, when YOU'RE ready. Whatever. LMAO.

Oh, I am definitely prepared and ready.

Preparedness Check: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Readiness Check: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Well then. I'm definitely ready anyway.

LMFAO

Amusement: 1d20 + 100 ⇒ (12) + 100 = 112

^ and that's why you plus 100 it, LOL.

Heyo, a friend forwarded me to this page, totally interested. If you still have room, I'm looking up some ideas to put together a druid. I should have it submitted to see what you think within an hour or two.

I'm still working on some things and waiting to figure out a few things, but here's my work in progress so far. Should have it finished early tomorrow.

Yes! Four is the perfect crime in this one.

"Bends the Willows" - I f@$+ing love it. You guys all have awesome names!

A druid! <3 Close enough to a Ranger that it will work just as well!

I was hoping someone would have an animal companion so I could see how that all works :P

Excellent, Bends the Willows, just be sure to label your guild, missing parts of your stat block, and backstory of course!

An update for everyone!

The issue of Favored Class has been brought up to me-

I looked at the advanced race builder and both their options and charged cost of RP for a favored class anything seems to be bullshit, SO, if you have not already taken a "favored class" feat/ trait whatever, feel free to do so for free for your class.

This will be available to you at level 1 for simplicity's sake :P

So now you have a class feat, a "racial trait" (racial feat screw you pathfinder) and a favored class bonus available at level 1.

I have already told one person- I do not care what race you steal the favored class bonus from- you built the race and your class, so take what is most optimized for how you want to play and run with it!

Sign me up for the "I LOVE the character concepts!" fanclub!! This is gonna be fun from the story-telling aspect if nothing else =)

So Fa''zakar's starting feats will be:
Race: Cat's Eye
Class: Weapon/Armor Proficiency
Favored Class: Sneak Attack

@GM - if you're happy with this group, can you activate the Gameplay thread so we can check in? That way this game will appear our Campaigns tab. =)

Hahaha you are just one hour ahead of me there Khajiit! Wiley little cat >:(

Kidding- but yes I'll open that as well, just go ahead and dot and I'll do the intro and set the scene etc. etc. etc. by let's say I think Wednesday should be fine.

Actually, when you guys dot-
Go ahead and give your gm a Perception roll right out duh GET as well :)

*any other skill you would use upon arriving in a strange place after being ripped through a portal, go ahead and do that too*

Did I misinterpret the whole favored class thing above? Is that supposed to be the "gain 1/6 of something useful or take the standard +1 to HP or an extra skill point" thing? If it is, then Fa'zakar will keep the +1 HP each level for his favored class...

I'm not entirely sure what you mean here, Fa'zakar.

Each "Pathfinder" race has a class bonus (favored class) option that I am allowing anyone to pick from, as long as it obviously makes sense for their class.

I am not sure what you mean by 1/6 or +1 HP, unless you are saying that is what your current favored class bonus is?

It means that for the first 5 times you take the class bonus, you get nothing. At the sixth you get the full benefit.

The way I interpreted it was that we could choose 1 hp, 1 skill point, or the favored class bonus specific to any Paizo race.

As for the 1/6, I'm assuming this may be a Pathfinder Society thing?

Looking it up, most seem to say it includes first level.

Is the 1/6 rule some sort of honorary custom GM's roll with?

no. Look at the race page for humans. under favored classes, you'll see certain ones like:

  • Magus Add +1/4 point to the magus' arcane pool.
  • Monk Add +1/4 point to the monk's ki pool.
  • Rogue The rogue gains +1/6 of a new rogue talent.
  • Warpriest: Gain 1/6 of a new bonus combat feat.
  • Wizard Add one spell from the wizard spell list to the wizard's spellbook. This spell must be at least one level below the highest spell level the wizard can cast.

it's just that some people might want an extra thing such as the ones listed above, and the official sources decided that certain ones should be able to be accumulated over 4 or 6 levels, some things every other level, etc.
