Karethas ibn Faradin |
Karethas lets the Acid Dart fade as he thinks for a moment, "Oh, yes! They are quite stunned and unable to act. If we are going to tie them up, now would be the time. Or knock them out...that would work as well. He looks expectantly at Amir. "Of course, either of those options are really outside my area of expertise."
Kzrira Maiwith |
I walk out slowly so that I am about 10 feet in front of Katlan. If he makes any type of a violent or quick move, I will fire my crossbow as noted above. It is pointed right at his head and ready to be shot.
Ok, Faelar and Amir. Time to start questioning these thieves.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Amir, now that you are up, you want to tie up his napping buddy on the ground. Also, gagging him would be a good idea so that he cannot call for help.
I am keeping my eye and crossbow trained on Katlan while saying this.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Do you have a rope? A gag? I do not fancy using my scarf for such a purpose and I doubt its strength.
Amir gestures to the body beneath the now dying vine. We should check him, I would wager that is Gilad. If not then perhaps the body has something of value on it.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
"I have no rope or anything of the like, but I can check the body for you." Karethas moves towards the body, examining the vine more closely now that he is closer to it. "Hmmmm, a carnivorous plant that's pollen is a soporific...fascinating. I wonder how he cultivated it here. Does it have specific soil or climatic requirements? How much must it feed to survive?"As he starts to examine the body, Karethas' musings continue, "I have heard of Assassin Vines, but they do not have the soporific qualities. I have also heard of Giant Flytraps, but as their name implies, they are quite large and entrap their victims in large jaw-like leaves. They grow in very poor.." I assume someone will interrupt Karethas by this point.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Great, and my rope is at the inn. Well, lets get something.
Faelar, while I keep this cretin under watch, can you use a dagger to slice off a few strips of the sleeping fool's cloak or robe. And then help Amir tie him up. Then we will do the same thing for this one.
Sheik Voodoo |
Karethas clears the vines to find the drained and rotting bodies of a young man and woman. The woman wears the provocative dress of a courtesan and the lad, the fine cloth of up-and-coming journeyman merchant. Neither of them have any items of value.
Faelar cuts some strips from the sleeping man's tunic and begins to bind his arms when Katlan suddenly comes around and draws a shortsword from his belt. Before he can attack Faelar, however, Kzrira fires a bolt pointblank to his head and he falls to the ground dead.
Amir 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Karethas 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Faelar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Kzrira 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Anshara 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Round 1.

Karethas
A moment later there is a shriek and you see Anshara rushing toward Kzrira, dagger drawn and hatred in her eye. Before anyone can react, she hurls herself at the Kzrira, slashing wildly, but unable to hit.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Hey all, it's crazy b*tch. Madam, I would like you to meet my friend Sir Rapier.
I drop my crossbow and draw my rapier.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Ah much simpler. The dead are a far more quiet.
Amir kneels at the bodies unburied from the vines. Sad, I had hoped the girl might have not met a similar fate. It seems we know what happened here, now I wonder if our luck will hold and we can find the contracts.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Karethas falls back from the body as Anshara jumps on Kzrira. He quickly rises and throws a ball of acid at the woman. "Lady forgive me, but I am glad that filth of a man is dead!"
ACID DART (6 of 7/day) 30ft Ranged Touch Attack:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Damage:1d6 ⇒ 5 Acid Damage.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Move to flank if possible, activate sheath, stabbity stab .
Dagger Attack; Damage:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Sneak Attack (If Applicable):1d6 ⇒ 3
Sheik Voodoo |
alright settle down. the crit more than does it. i'll just move on.
Kzrira pushes the crazed woman away and draws her rapier to make a lethal introduction. There's a flash of steel in the gathering night and Anshara staggers backward coughing up blood to fall beside her dead lover.
You hear a curse from the direction of the villa and then the sound of a door slammed and bolted.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Damn, there is someone else in the home. Lets get that kid and girl out of the shrubs so that we can identify them. And lets search these three, no reason to kill this guy although we could take him with us back to imp man.
Perception:1d20 ⇒ 9 --> searching bodies, both the dead two and the two in the shrub
Sheik Voodoo |
You suspect that the decayed bodies of Gilad and Zinni were already looted. Anshara has only three daggers and a pouch of 10 scarabs. Both Katlan and the unconscious man each have leather armor, a short sword, and two daggers. Omar has a vial, 11 scarabs, and 14 sheks in his pouch. Katlan 3 vials, 50 scarabs, and a bundle of lock picks.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
"Well, that will help finance our expedition, but alas no contracts and we were unable to save either of these unfortunate youths! We must venture inside. Let me see those vials, if they are magical then someone could try to discern their use through a taste, although it is not a skill I am particularly good at."
Cast Detect Magic on the vials and other items.
Kzrira Maiwith |
With these slime bags, the other two are probably poison. Shall we see if we can get into the home. Someone barred the door, can we climb up to a balcony?
Faelar Braegen |
'I am concerned about entering the manor. I have no means to unbolt the door, I am unsure of my ability to climb up to the balcony {I am not as capable of climbing as you; my dear}, however I think we need to get in, to find these contracts.
Does anyone have an idea on how to get in?'
Karethas ibn Faradin |
While the others are discussing how to get into the house, Karethas casts Detect Magic and takes a few moments examining the magical potions. Take 10 on both checks to Identify the potions 10 + 8 = 18 +2 if they are Conjuration Spells, -5 if they are Adjuration or Necromantic Spells. DC is CL+15 (I hope they are low level or healing potions :-) ) After examining the potions, he looks up and says,"I thought I heard the person bolt the door, but not bar it. Perhaps Amir can get us in through the most obvious route?"
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Amir rubs the back of his neck, Yes as long as I am not rendered unconscious by another demonic plant! Amir claps Karethas on the shoulder in jest as he moves past the wizard to the door in question and examines it.
I don't suppose, out of PURE luck, that the picks on the woman are of masterwork quality? O:) *wiggles eyebrows*
Perception (Traps) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Kzrira Maiwith |
I retrieve my crossbow bolts, sheathe my rapier, reload my crossbow and follow behind Amir ready to fire if anyone should surprise us when the door is opened.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Mhmm I doubt it my friend, locks give off quite a bit of force and I believe you need a specific spell to do what you describe, or so I have been told...
Amir works at the lock as best he can.
Disable Device 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Sheik Voodoo |
better on the appraise :)
Faelar finds the workmanship on Katlan's shortsword though not fancy, of superior quality (1 MW shortsword). The quality and shaping of the lock picks is exceptional as well (yessir, MW thieves' tools as well.)
It will likely take Amir a couple tries, but he eventually gets the door open. order of entry?
Amir Awad Hajjir |
'Hey, these are very good quality!'
I will likely go at the back as I only have a few Hit Points left. Also at the back I can still inspire everyone, so they can do well in any combat situations.
Oh Faelar you inspire me no matter WHERE you are :-p
I'll slip in first and try to hide amongst the shadows
I think I will go ahead and then Kzrira - Karethas - Faelar might make sense?
Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Karethas ibn Faradin |
That order is fine with me. Amir would you be against using that MW short sword, since you are our only full time melee type.
Before entering Karethas looks at the two potions and hands one to the person who is most hurt, "Here, for your wounds, take it now." The other he hands to Amir, "In case we need someone to be truly invisible." I couldn't tell if the HP totals were current on the profiles, but he would hand it to Amir or Faelar based on who had the lowest current HP.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Whispering back to Amir - Order sounds good, I will wait with my crossbow until I hear from you.
Retcon - can I recover my bolts from the bodies outside? I always grab my bolts unless they break.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Ack! I am at full health actually thanks to Faelar from earlier, updated that. As to the sword I forgot to mention but Amir will pull it out as he enters the house; the only reason I don't use it more often is that I don't have a +1 BAB so I can't move and draw at the same time, the mechanical sheath gets the dagger into my hand for free so I can get engaged sooner.
Faelar Braegen |
Kzrira, you can take the potion then. As I mentioned before I shall be at the back giving you all courage, so HOPEFULLY I won't get it. So you front line combatants need it here. Normally I would also be at the front attacking, but when on low Hit Points I will just be a supporter.
Sheik Voodoo |
Kzrira- bolts that hit are ruined. I'll allow you to recover misses though.
Amir enters the dark villa to find himself in the foyer. The front doors are across from him, vaulted archways lead to a study on the right and hall with opposite door on the left.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
I figured out he had one after his response. In any case, if Faelar or Kzrira wanted to use it then they should take it. Although I know they both use rapiers usually the short sword is light, so they can still use it with weapon finesse.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Ahh that was an offer not a question :-p Whoops!
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Sorry for the delay
Amir slowly pulls the sap from his satchel and makes his way to the thug. Pausing for a moment to consider his friends, Amir shrugs to himself as he approached the unaware lackey. If it works, I will simply go get them, if it doesn't the man's yells will alert them as well as anyone else. Now is the time for bold action!
Amir raises the sap and strikes at the back of the thug's spine.
Sap Attack; Damage Subdual: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Sneak Attack (If Applicable): 1d6 ⇒ 5
*sigh* I really hope his flat footed AC is terrible otherwise I just made a new friend!
Sheik Voodoo |
Amir swings around the corner to sap the thug and ends up with an ineffectually weak blow to the thug's arm. It is enough to tangle up the thug's shortsword thrust in response, however.
Round 1.
