Kzrira nods at Amir's first comment and then shakes her head at the latter.
I definitely need to get this bow enchanted. It will still not be the same as Tempest, although that bow had a strange personality to say the least. Also, anything that the temple can do to help with this exhaustion would be appreciated.

As far as the Aspis scum, and all the others who are trying to buy whatever you all dragged out of that filthy cave, I do not see why we need to inform them, or anyone else of what we are doing. Perhaps it would be better to tell them that it left on a ship last night bound for Nex. Our goal is to conceal it from being able to be located by magic, why not use some deception to make it more difficult to find through mundane means as well.

Karethas works diligently the first day to learn See Invisibility and Obscure Object, as well as giving Andrathi's notes a first read through.

In fact, the Dean spends the day researching Andrathi's notes in preparation for having a go at the scroll. Karethas is fully engaged in copying the new spells into his spell book. The others return to the Immaculate Vault of Abadar to see about getting Kzrira restored and her bow enhanced.

So Kzrira can have one neg level restored for 1280 gp. The other neg level is automatically restored when she levels. She can also get her bow enhanced at the temple, but looks like adaptive will require a druid for the warp wood component.

Any chance that Amir knows any druids that might call the city home? Unlikely, but in a city this size assuredly there are a few taking care of parks and the like. If not, Adaptive is nice, but not critical at this point. Can always add it later as it is only a 1000gp increase, not +1, +2 like most improvements.

All - Am I paying for the 1280? Or is this coming out of the party healing funds? At least I think we have one.

druids would take more effort to find, but it's a low level spell and Amir would eventually locate someone given time. The high priest had mentioned a mission with rewards...

We talked about establishing a party fund but haven't done it yet. So in the mean time I can float the cost of the healing but we should probably take up the temple on its offer to get some cash in hand to offset that stuff and maybe get me enough to upgrae one of my swords ;). We can approach that once we scoop Karethas back up and deal with the scroll...

Amir nods at Kzrira and Varkata both as he finishes his food and leans back casually as he wipes of his mouth chuckling at the archer, There is a reason I rely on you to shoot arrows quickly and openly rather than a single one from the shadows, your desire to just be done with this is part of our problem. Amir chuckles at his jest.

The rogue goes on gesturing widely to the bar, We are surely being watched and in so much that we now have a reputation and I having some vague limited authority in Kelemerane there is the issue of politics. I would rather be honest with Aspis and the others so they don't try to stab me in some alley. I may not love these groups but for now this is about money and the more we dance with them in good faith the better of we will be in the future should another song come. Let us go to the Vault, the might be able to scribe and send a message to these various parties for me while we look into Kzrira's issues. The rogue rises to leave when the others are ready.

===========================

At the vault Amir sees that the Vault is paid for Kzrira's services and asks if they have scribes and runners who could deliver notices to Aspis and the other parties that we may still be a couple of days away from making a decision about the scroll.

At the Immaculate Repository (I keep calling it the Imm Vault) the party find that the Vault Master is busy and you are assisted by another ranking priest, a Vudrani woman with short hair and a tasteful gold nose ring named Kazim. She says that the temple would be happy to serve as a go-between for any transaction and will send messengers per request.

Kazim also informs you that Vault Master has prayed for the restoration spell, but is quite busy today and can heal Kzrira in the evening after his work day is finished. She mentions that he was interested in further discussing the reopening of the trade route as well.

Hearing that she will have to wait yet longer to be even partially healed, Kzrira lets out a sigh.
Lets go see if we can find out anything new about this trade route. I certainly want to avoid getting in a fight until I get my bow back and some of Abadar's healing.

She then looks to Amir hoping the rogue will have some idea of where to go to get more information on this.

Varkata offers, "My usual approach is to spend extra coins in taverns to learn things... Though perhaps finding a sage would be the best approach."

Whilst the lovely Kazim discusses the finer points of magically enhancing Kzrira's bow, Amir ponders. There was that shadowy information broker, Mechem Djall from the Nightstalls, but he'd likely charge a dear price. An old merchant would likely prove much cheaper if a knowledgeable one could be found.

The Sand Dragon Inn is now much too high profile to ask around. Perhaps the Daystalls just outside the main gates of the city would be productive. Newcomers are likely to be widely traveled and probably haven't yet heard of the Nexian scroll Amir carries anyway.

Back outside the walls, the air is hot and dry despite the muddy flow of the Scorpius that guides the trail into the city. The party crosses a simple plank bridge over a small channel that fills the watering troughs of the Camel Markets to look over the tents and stalls that greet travelers from the western wastes of the nation.

Varkata wrinkles her nose at Datorro's Brewery uncertain of the combination of harsh smells emitted from the combination tavern and alchemist shop. A row of brighter tents are marked with large banners proclaiming "Cheeho the Talking Dog" and "Fortunes Revealed by the Smoke Lady". A large adobe structure is marked with a mural of a camel crossed by a scimitar for the Caravan Guard Union Hall.

Amir moves off to join a group of older merchants surveying the activity.

I take it Kzrira is leaving her new bow at the temple for upgrades. Anyone else want to ask around?

Kzrira looks to the others.
I would not mind checking out the Caravan Guard Union Hall. I used to work as a guard and spent quite some time riding with the patrols after we freed Kelmarane. Unfortunately as you all know, I am not usually the best in social situations.

She looks at Amir and then Varkata.
Would either if you like to join me? I figure that Amir has his own contacts, so perhaps us women should check out the caravan guards.

Amir did quite well, but if Kzrira wants to assist Varkata, they might get another tidbit.

Diplomacy (Gather Info): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Amir learns a bit more about the lost oasis on the old road to Ipeq. It seems the misfortune that befell it was quite intentional. The two leading theories are that it was either the work of a Shir div or a vengeful Gebbite necromancer, but all agree that all the Dawnflower's priests were murdered and the Well of Paradise defiled. They assure their fellow merchant that it is best forgotten. A young and foolish faris of Sarenrae attempted to restore it a generation ago and never returned.

Varkata and Kzrira hear much the same, but also learn from one now grizzled caravaneer that he once accompanied a small band of smugglers attempting to sneak past the cursed oasis and they were chased off by a great winged lion that shouted oaths at them as they ran for their lives.

Did we resolve that Kzrira could find a druid capapble of adaptive? IF not Amir will ask around about that too.

Diplomacy!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Amir is sure to spend ample time in his exchanges talking up the rebuilding of Kelemerane and notes that the markets are being cleaned up, the city rebuilt and that there may be opportunity for cheap real estate I having just remembered the project regarding the main street on the eastern edge of town in addition to the other social niceties that come with older merchants exchanging info. Once he is convinced he has extracted what he can he will say his goodbyes and work his way back to Varkata and Kzrira.

The other merchants seem interested in Amir's news of opportunities on the western frontier. One tells of a desert dwarf druid who wanders the deserts of Osirion and Katapesh. He is said to have followers that commune with the palms around the Golden Oasis in the city.

The sun is sinking over the desert as the adventurers regroup. Grabbing some food from a food cart, Amir believes it is time to return to the Immaculate Repository for you meeting with the Mater of the Vault.

grabbing Karethas for the meeting?

I would say let Karethas study. However, his knowledge skills frequently come in handy.

Returning to the villa, you are greeted by the groundskeeper who leads you upstairs where Karethas reclines on a couch with a pile of scrolls at hand. The dean is in the third floor library, but comes down to speak with you briefly before his evening meal. He feels that he has refreshed his memory of Andrathi's account and would like to study the scroll itself tomorrow.

Karethas joins the party though he looks distracted and mumbles arcane phrases to himself as the group passes the Palace of the Pactmasters and enters the Dawn Gate District. Kazim greets you once again and leads you to the private chapel where Kzrira was previously raised from the dead.

The priestess makes small talk while you wait for the Vault Master. She mentions that Badra had been by the temple to complain that you were taking too long to sell the relic. The mercenary cum merchant princess claimed that you were delaying to get more bidders to inflate the price. Kazim warns you to be careful and lights the tall golden candles as the daylight fades from the yellow tinted windows.

The high priest, Jalal Abdul-Abadar, arrives not long after the candles have been lit. With Kzrira kneeling before the altar, the priest begins the ceremony which includes several rounds of prayers and culminates in the offering of the diamonds Amir purchased. Afterwards, Kzrira rise and all can see that color has been restored to her face though she has not regained the full health she possessed before her ordeal.
(1 neg level restored)

After a proper amount of time for congratulations, the Vault Master turns the conversation to the lost trade route. Kazim confirms that the enhancement to Kzrira's bow will be completed the following day and Master Abdul-Abadar that action very soon thereafter is essential if Kelmarane is to succeed.

Amir nods at the insistence of the importance of the task and indicates that the Master should continue so the group can properly understand the issue.

The Master nods, "As I am sure you know, trade is the lifeblood of settlement. Zayifid has reported on the progress made in Kelmarane with much praise for your work, Amir. However, the current route is much too extended from its path through Solku. In addition, most merchants have little reason to continue on to Kelmerane once they have reached that city so Kelmarane is starved of potential trade."

"The old northern route runs directly to Kelmarane and would allow the town to compete independently for Mwangi trade over the Shattered Range. More importantly, the growing presence of civilization in the north will allow us to begin to reclaim the Brazen Peaks from the gnoll hordes and revitalize land trade with Ipeq and the rest of Osirion."

"All that stands in the way is this small stretch of cursed land at the old oasis. The followers of the Dawnflower seem unable to restore it and should we move directly, it might stir up conflict between our faiths so it is best that a more neutral party investigate. That is where you come in."

It seems to me that this would be a fine task to set ourselves on. Considering its importance I understand the haste but I am curious if you think we can wait a day or two before setting out. We have some unresolved business in town that I fear could lead to an escalation with unsvaory parties if it is not handled delicately. Amir offers a half shrug with his hands up as though to say "I wish it wasn't this way".

Kzrira nods in agreement with the old rogue's words, her hand unconsciously reaching up for her bow, which is not there. As a result, she then holds her hands in front of her nervously walking her fingers up and down each other.

I agree. At the least I must wait for my bow to be enchanted. Also, we should do more research about the layout of the land around this oasis. It may be cursed by magic, or simply inhabited by something that wishes others to believe it is haunted.

As she says this, Kzrira's mind wanders to the vile div that has harassed them for so many months.
If I had to guess, we will probably find at least one nemesis at the oasis. A div that has sought to destroy us at every chance. We have defeated her several times. Unfortunately, she has managed to escape each time. The next time, I intend to make sure is the last time.

Master Abdul-Abadar assents to Amir's request. "Kazim has kept me up to date with developments. Kzrira's bow should be ready tomorrow so perhaps a departure on the following day. I would recommend cold iron if you have no holy arrows for a div."

"As for your business, well as I'm sure Kazim has mentioned, some of the interested parties have expressed their impatience, but they will just have to wait until you return. If you need some place to store the relic until then, there is no place more secure in all of Garund than the vaults of this sacred repository."

Sorry, this is one of those questions that I assumed Amir would respond to. I read this on Friday, but had forgotten because of no new posts.

Kzrira looks to Amir.
Perhaps he is correct. It would probably not hurt to get a good quantity of arrows with cold iron heads. They don't cost much and are much more effective against that b!tch div.

She then turns back to Master Abdul-Abadar.
We shall have to speak as a group as to what is be done with the scroll. Should we decide to leave it here in Katapesh, I believe that your offer to secure it would be strongly considered as the Vaults here are rumored to be without compare in all of the Inner Sea, perhaps in all of Golarian.

Amir bobs his head at the suggestion of the vault, I would consult with the Dean and see how he feels about its security. I am sure some arrangement could be made and ultimately I can think of no safer place.

On the other point Amir throws up his hands in absolute agreement,Cold iron for all of us. It might even be worth finding a longspear or such so I might stab that b$*$& or any other like her in their foul heart... Amir reddens slightly then looks at the Master, Ah sorry. We've had some trouble with such creatures, its a point of agitation.

Radi scowls at Amir's companions, "In the ways of the market, yes, I would say that I could instruct you just as the archer could beat me in shooting and Cayden's priestess in drinking. But, it is obvious you think nothing of my assistance and I'm tired of your insults. Others would treat me far better."

Amir nods knowingly, Your assertions would be a true, were they correct. But I am your elder in life and these markets. I risked my life to save you as did my friends... Amir pauses for a moment and gestures at Kzrira, Except for her she was already dead...Regardless I will not have you stand in front of me, chastising me like some errant pup when I have treated you exceedingly fair. Did you flit about the great market airing MY business? Yes you did... Amir steps towards Radi clearly angry showing no regard for causing a scene, Have you risked my life and the life of my friends by doing so? YES. And yet I asked them to be patient. Amir points a finger at Radi as his face flushes, I sent you on tasks. To prove your worth. I sent you on errands to gauge your loyalty. I did not listen? YOU did not listen and stay when I asked it. Trust is earned. Bought. Paid for. Discretion. Knowledge. Humility. Ability. THESE are what it takes to make the markets work. To fill your pockets with the coins you richly care for. Amir flips his hand at Radi as though to be done with him and turns, Take your indignation somewhere else. It is I who am disappointed...and foolish.

Amir sighs heavily. You want to leave? Then go. But if I see you again, attempting some act upon my business, if you go to some other party and attempt to take what I spilled blood to gain, I will exact every measure of justice I can from you and you will wish the div was still your mistress.

Amir offers a steely gaze to the man, defying him to say something.

Radi flinches at Amir's gesture and offering no response other than a sneer, quickly slinks out of the inn and into the night.

Amir gestures for the group to come together, I apologize my friends, you all had your concerns about the man, I was hoping to temper his impatience with the promise of something more meaningful. Regardless I suspect we now all assume that we will see that one again some day, probably with a knife in hand. I would have us leave for the Dean's with haste to arrange transport of the scroll. Amir looks to see what the others think...

A bit of respite from the road. Swap lies, tell tales, plot your next venture... whatever floats your ship of the desert.

"Here little puggy. Bad puggy! iNSanE PuGgY!!"

Dotted :)

SHHH! You'll ruin it for them!! -bah, you don't have fire anyway or roaches wouldn't have kicked yor arses. ; )

Alright everyone (else), check in and compare notes. Everyone is Chaotic Good so we shouldn't have any ethical issues. Also no healer, but there are ways around that so i'm not too worried.

It's a US holiday weekend so I may not start this up until mon. night so just tawk amongst yahselfs. and what's your time zone?
i'm at GMT -7.

Male Elf Bard - 1

I have a couple of questions. 1 - What is a Pugwampi?! Never heard of it before. 2 - Do you think that the group is okay for melee characters or should I try to get myself into the thick of battle to assist? Switching to a melee styled Bard is easy, so just let me know what you think.

Voodoo:
If you or anyone else decides that they want someone else who will be fighting, I can make some VERY quick changes to make Faelar a Dervish Dancer. His background will be the same, he will just not be as good when it comes to knowledge and won't be able to buff allies, if that is okay?

I am in England, so time zone = GMT +0:00
Thank-you Voodoo for choosing me to play this campaign and congratulations to my fellow players for also being selected. I look forward to playing with you guys.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Pugwampi:

Detestable little fey loathed by nearly ever other creature including their fellow fairy folk Pugwampis are commonly known as "jackal rats" and are beacons of bad luck and misfortune.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

At last Voodoo found his zodiac sign ;)

Male Elf Bard - 1

Bad luck, fey?! Now they sound dangerous. Please tell me we will not be coming up against any of them!

Male Elf Bard - 1

Do you guys know the push/pull capacity of a Mule? Just doing a couple of final stock buying.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

While trains may be great in a push/pull configuration, I do not thing that mules are quite as effective - and in the push configuration if you have to get behind them they are likely to raise their tails and show you what they think of you.

Voodoo - thanks for choosing me, now I just need to get that Bow of Speed with Arrows of Pugwampi Slaying. --> Although I am guessing that normal arrows would work on the little vermin.

And to my fellow adventurers, welcome time to get some sand in our eyes and grit under our fingernail -- apparently we have no wussy cleric to worry about, so here is to Swords, Fire, Brimstone, and tactics which limit our injuries.

Kzrira is modified to a 20 point build and set for the desert. Someone let know if there is anything which needs to be modified/corrected. This should be interesting with a Bard, Rogue, Fighter(Dex based) and Wizard - I think we better all get really good at sneaking and hiding in the sand - maybe Karethas and I should take a level or two in rogue and we will have the sneakiest party in history - hehehe, backstab via arrows.

Hello all happy to be aboard this here...desert. : p

It always a good thing when the Rogue is the wisest in the party. If i get murdered by mind controlled party members I'll be so...well dead but really grumpy. Heh.

I should look at buying my gear I guess. Won't be till tonight that I can get that hammered out but if Monday is the objective I have a day or two to get that resolved.

@Faelar - I wish I could remember exactly but I believe quadrupeds take their strength score on the push/pull/encumbrance chart and multiply that by something like 1.5 or 2 but I am not sure so I wouldn't quote me on that. That may also be a 3.5 ruling too...hmmm.

No dedicated Healers should be fun. Keeps us on our toes....

Oh and I am on Pacific Standard time which is UTC -8 I believe, but I have a one year old that pretty well keeps me n strange hours so I post all over the place time wise.

Central Time here, but I usually check throughout the day - less on weekends. Don't expect very many posts after midnight for me.

Yeh - I hope the Bard is planning on taking some cure wounds, or making the strange multi to oracle -- that would be interesting, could be an oracle of music.

Oh the Srd confirms: medium quadruped would be at Capacity or push/pull at their strength then multiply that value by 1.5.

Thanks for selecting my character Voodoo! I'm in the Eastern time zone, and I check the boards from work and in the evenings. I can usually post multiple times a day during the week, but a little less on the weekends.

Maybe since we are short a healer Voodoo can give us a wand of CLW and the bard can keep us topped off :-).

Faelar- I don't have a problem with Dervish Dancer. that'll be fine. and you might consider taking cure light wounds for a spell since you have that capacity.

Ok, camp followers- no more spoilers. Pugs are one of the 'joys' of LoF. don't listen to them Faeler. Pugwumpis are just a myth. Nothing could be that ugly and annoying...

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

DM Voodoo - would you care if I were to switch from the base Fighter specializing in Archery to the Archery archetype? Now that I have reread it, I think it would work well.

No no no, unsew that. What else should we know? ; )

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

There is a gnoll on the cover of one of the modules and a genie on another one...if that helps :)

I have to admit that I'm quite sad that I'm not a part of this, but I will remain lurking behind a camel...one that is not rigged...

Kzrira Maiwith wrote:

That's fine. I also don't have a problem with making adjustments to your character until level 2. It always takes me a level of actually playing a character to kinda set the concept and see what works.

Male Elf Bard - 1

Okay so the modifier is multiplied...but what is a mules Strength score? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Once noticing that there wasn't a Cleric in the group, I was thinking about changing one of my spells to be a Cure Light Wounds. So are you guys okay with the group as it is, or would you like me to become a more melee based Bard, so we can have another person in close combat (Although I still won't do much damage)?

Edit - So should I play the beginning like I was a couple of days ago (never even hearing of these Pugwampi) or are the a famous myth?

I don't know that I've seen stats for a pack mule- i'd probably just use a pony with a 16 Strength (carries ~175-525 lbs. medium load)

Male Elf Bard - 1

Okay, thanks Voodoo :)

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

I would go with something similar to a mule, say an elephant or an M-1 tank.

Kzrira Maiwith wrote:

You could probably buy those in Katapesh... just look for Crazy Ali's Trans-porium!

so i did a little research and pack mules generally carry about 200 lbs. so sounds about right. I'd give them an 18 Con as well.

Male Elf Bard - 1

I have spent all of my money now and updated it into my profile. Now just trying to figure which spell to change for Cure Light Wounds.

Voodoo only:

You may be wondering why I have the poles and canvas, well there is a reason. The poles are all places on the wagon, sticking upwards. 5 on each side, 3 straight up and 2 at a 45 degree angle (the one at the front sticks out over the mules and the one at the back sticks out away from the mules) Then I have the Canvas attached to the poles. This means that my wagon (which I will ride in while travelling in the open desert) is shaded from the sun, so if anyone else cannot walk any further they can sit in there for a while, while I walk.

Male Elf Bard - 1

Finished all of my adjustments now and ready to play when everybody else is now :)

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

As we are a small group, if Voodoo wants to start the game thread with an intro, we could all start introducing ourselves and feeling each other out. We can hold off on the real game until Monday or whenever DM Voodoo is ready.

I just want to sort a few things out as it won't be the usual LoF opening. We'll be starting in Katapesh City at a cafe called the Golden Net.

Kzrira may be looking for info on Haleen's whereabouts from the well connected and friendly proprietor. Amir and Karethas could be plotting their next move at this favorite hangout. I want to check on Faelar's hook.

Faelar:
So for your pathfinder mission- I don't see PFS being all that interested in what happened to a backwater burg at the butt end of Katapesh. So do you mind if I change your mission to finding an original copy of The Tales of Shaharezthed (this is part of the AP). I also may give you some PF contacts here. Specifically the elf twins I mentioned earlier. One has been performing at the Golden Net.

Male Elf Bard - 1

Voodoo:
"Your first assignment is to accompany Garavel's group to
Kelmarane, the Pathfinder Society has heard rumors
of several ancient structures in the area, including a
ruined monastery once dedicated to Sarenrae, and would
like to learn more about them. Even more pressing is the
mystery of what brought about Kelmarane's ruin in the
first place, reports of which are vague at best. If you can
determine the cause of the village's abandonment so many
years ago."

However, if you wish to change the mission, I will not complain. The thought of finding the original copy of a book, Faelar would be EXTREMELY excited about this mission and give it his all. The new mission you have selected would probably be a better fit for Faelar actually.

I don't mind performing with the Elf at the Golden Net, I can dance and sing (although I have focused them on Irish folk dance and song style). That could be how the others meet me.

Are you okay with the idea of having the shaded wagon with the canvas? I didn't know how much canvas I needed, so I got all I could.

Faelar:
yeah, i didnt find that campaign trait all that compelling as written. I think recovering a rare book from a missing Marid princess might be more appropriate for teh PFS and a follower of Shelyn. You don't necessarily have to know your contacts. They are green PF intiates that havent earned their wayfinder yet and have a reputation for getting into trouble.
Also how knowledgeable do you want to be about Katapesh? Have you studied? If so then you have likely heard stories about these Pugwumpis, but like most you think it's just a way to write off bad luck. and i'm fine with the wagon, but where did you get the funds to buy it?

Male Elf Bard - 1

Voodoo:
I had 55 GP left after my original stuuf. The 2 Mules cost 16 GP together, the Wagon cost 35 GP. Together that is 51. The Barrel cost 2 GP, making it a total of 53 GP. So I only had 2 GP left, So I bought 10 canvas which is 10 SP (or 1 GP). Then10 Poles which cost 50 CP (1/2 a GP) and then finally 10 days worth of Feed which was also 50 CP making it a total of 55 GP.

I would have studied it as much as possible, so may have heard of them. As for recovering the book, it is perfect for Faelar.

It is up to you how I meet the others though, it doesn't affect me really. Just fills out my story a bit.

Keen. It sounds like our enterprising young bard is ready to go so here's the link.

i'm heading out to hear GRR Martin talk and then prolly camping tomorrow, so enjoy yourselves. game is on. :).

Sheik Voodoo:

I had a couple of equipment questions which I will assume in the affirmative and will take off my sheet if you have an issue with them:

I was hoping to buy a spring loaded wrist sheath from the Adventurer's Armory. Seems like the perfect kind of thing to grab at the Nightstalls.

My second issue was in regards to letters in Amir's possession. I was hoping that he might be able to find someone who could bind the letters into a book (and maybe somehow mount and preserve his mother's final letter in that same book) I was thinking that 15 gp would probably cover the specialty work (the same cost as a traveling spell book) since it would be less pages but might require about as much attention as something as specialized as a spellbook would require. Would this work for you?

The last thing is the urn of his father's ashes. In Amir's backstory it notes that it was mostly formed from the melted jewelry of his father. Is there a certain amount of my gp wealth that you want to go towards that? Do you care to come up with a value and/or weight for the urn and his father's ashes? Eventually he will spread the ashes in Kelmarane so who knows what that is worth. I doubt Amir would ever sell the urn when empty, he may even bury it or dispose of it somehow if it seems right in the moment. Anyway, wanted to get your input on that issue too.

Thanks a lot, hope GRRM was awesome.

Amir:
No problem with the wrist sheath. I'd say more like 10 gp for the portfolio book. and about 5 lbs for the urn. If you don't plan on selling it or anything, i'm not concered about the value.

or short sword- more damage.

I also wanted to mention that most people in Katapesh City will be speaking Kelish as a common tongue instead of Taldan. The outlands will be mainly Kelish with some Osiriani.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Hmmm - born in Osiriani and lived in Katapesh for 10 years - should I take both languages and no Taldan? I have Common, Osiriana and Gnoll at present, seemed likely languages, did not realize that Kellish was the common tongue in Katapesh

It's not a World Guide thing, but I see Katapesh as more in the Qadiran sphere of influence so why would everyone be speaking the language of a rival country. Just substitute Kelish for Common (Taldane).

It's kinda like everyone in Hong Kong speaking English, oh wait...
;) Well, Common would more likely be a second language mostly used in the urban core, how about that? Taldan won't really come into play in this game too much anyway.

EDIT: Looks like everyone 'cept Faelar speaks it anyway which fits since he's from Avistan. translate for the bard anyone? :)
(if you want to sub a language Faeler, I don't think Infernal will be used at all, probably not Draconic either.)

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Changed - I now speak Kellish, Osiriani and Common - I really do not have meeting a lot of gnolls in my background and have done substantial travel on merchant vessels, so those three languages make sense.

That's fine. Amir has Gnoll covered and would have likely had dealings with them in Katapesh's seamy side.

Alllrriigghhtttyyy then. Gear is done, Amir is a little nuts about being prepared. If you have seen the beginning of "Alladin" just think of that merchant, Amir can be a bit like -that- as far as how he talks about items and things people might "need".

@Sheik Voodoo - I ended up switching Dodge for Combat Expertise...because its better in every way better for my needs and a pre-req for Improved Feint if I want to go there. Additionally I took your recommendation of short sword. I think those are the only adjustments I have made.

ah yes, exploring sky islands west of Socorro NM. some hunters at the campground told me about their 'secret spot' which turned out to be a great hike on the north face of Mt. Baldy. about 10,000 ft elevation, beautiful views, plenty of wildflowers, and even water in a creek :) we spent most of the day up there and my girlfriend and I didn't see a soul.

Hey all, everything looks great. i'll allow some more time for introductions, then start the action ...
