Kzrira fires a quick series of arrows, one striking the vile 'King' right in the face. As Kzrira moves back, Amir whirls past her to stab at the Carrion Guard. Simin sinks deep into the ranger's abdomen yet he stands.

Karethas shakes more scorpions from his thawb and mentally directs the wobbling orb of water. It whirls around grabbing the priest lurking to the rear of the Carrion King and then angles for the King himself. However with the priest already held within, there is not enough water to engulf the towering King as well.

Karethas hurls a handful of mica chips at the gathering gnolls behind engulfing them in a cloud that leaves all but one blinded. The rider struggles to get off his dead hyaenodon and cannot see Falear casting though he opens himself up to attack.
Faelar CL: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 and you get an AoO.

Faelar's powerful curative spell heals much of the great axe's damage and only causes the Carrion King to grow angrier. The demon knight pushes his guard forward, His guard again fruitlessly attempts to trip the archer while his liege lets loose with arcing great axe and feral fangs! The first swing is jarring, but the back swing mortal. Jagged teeth clash where the Tempest wielder stood a moment before.

Faelar - at -41 HP, even the most unobservant would have figured that I need more than healing. With that type of damage, if my body is not severed in half, it has to be close.

I assumed the orb would only capture the first to fail their 2nd reflex save. I knew it couldn't catch both, but I wanted to do the damage to the CK and get it close to the mook in front.
Regarding the distraction: I thought it would work the same way as it does for the monster ability: it only lasts for a round, but the target has to save each time they are damaged by it. Sorry if I was mistaken.

Karethas' smile transforms into an expression of shocked disbelief as the Carrion King kills his friend in one mighty swing. He panics briefly, but looking back down the hallway, realizes that there is no escape. The last bit of his innocence gone, Karethas reaches into his component pouch pulls out a small ball of butter. He smashes it between his fingers and casts a spell.

Unless the questions asked present a significant change of events Amir proceeds thus...

Shocked by the sudden violence Amir barely contains the flood of emotions as he considers the brute before him. If a single blow would fell Kzrira, it surely would kill him too but backed into this corner Amir had little recourse but to press to bring the beast low.

I am not really relying on IC at this point.

Half numbed by the sudden death of his companion, Amir stabs at the ogrish gnoll king with Simin cutting deep into his side. The Carrion King raises his deadly axe high to destroy the old rogue only to have it fly backwards out of his grasp as Karethas greases it with a spell.

Karethas- for AQ Orb to reach H6, it's going to have to pass through the whole party. The spell doesn't differentiate for allies so everyone will be at risk for being pummeled and engulfed.

Voodoo-I will just have the orb keep pummeling the CK for each round.I will keep it on his back half though, so as not to give him cover.

The roiling ball of water keeps pounding against the Carrion King surely bruising him though he ignores it. The priest in the sphere no longer struggles. Faelar casts the spell of distracting noises again, but the Chosen gnoll just shakes his head to clear it away.

He gives his empty hands an annoyed look and then grins up at his feeble foes. "The Lioness is dead and you will soon join her. I will be quick because the pit is hungry." Despite his words, the Carrion King appears much more proficient with his ax and his dangerous claws cannot land a solid blow on Amir. I had moved, that is 2 rounds I have mentioned I have moved and haven't been. Hoping to be at the back in the corner.

no worries about the delay. About those dice rolls however...

The old rogue continues to do his best against the towering monster gnoll. The stress of the day, loss of a companion and continued nausea from the stench take their toll as he struggles to hold his ground. He hears Faelar's mournful song behind him, but he is a bit preoccupied by the kopesh that is nearer still.

Karethas conjures around the corner and the Carrion King steps free from the churning orb for a moment. Well, if you use the first 2 d20 from your dice dump, then you would have rolled a 14 and a 26 for the attacks. Perhaps DM Voodoo will decide that dice dumps are not allowed and take these rolls instead. Pretty sure the 26 will hit, not so sure about your 22.

Maybe. I only did the dump because I got two different results two times (and that isn't supposed to happen?) and it seemed like I had formatted things right, but I had walked away from my comp for a while. As far as chronological time, Amir is certainly one of my longest characters so I would miss him too but, like you said, its the vice/virtue of the game. But who knows, maybe Karethas and Faelar will be able to mop it up and carry our sad asses back to a cleric, druid or, if they feel particularly adventurous, back down to that fire imp thing or the guy running around in the labyrinth.

I have not really thought about what to be if I have to build a new character. Really depends on whether there is a TPK, and what you all want to play.

Karethas completes his conjuration and the rolling wave beats over the Carrion King before retreating to open a path for the mobile earth elemental. The rock creature charges, but the wet ground foils its attack. Amir uses the diversion to attack the gnoll warlord and Simin bites! oooh, so close!

Faelar plies his rapier to the Carrion Guard giving him a mortal wound. As the guard falls, a wall appears beyond Karethas appearing to seal the passage beyond.

Though alone and obviously sorely wounded, the Carrion King's fury keeps him fighting. A powerful claw tears open the rogue and pain is all Amir feels as his world darkens. Amir-7 claw. No sooner has the old rogue fallen than the beast steps forward leering over Faelar.

Kzrira attempts to clap her hands, except they are not connected to the same body parts.

Male Elf Bard - 1

Seeing the hulking Gnoll finally fall to the floor I collapse backwards and sit on the floor for a few moments breathing heavily and trying to calm down.

I then head over to Amir and place my hand on his shoulder a couple of times.

Cure Light Wounds : 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Cure Light Wounds : 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Cure Light Wounds : 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Cure Light Wounds : 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

So a total of 42 healing, should have you around the 37 mark.

Amir gasps to consciousness and pauses a few seconds, staring at the body of the archer. When Faeler is down with the healing AMir wordlessly takes to decapitating the Carrion King. After that he takes to searching the gnoll leader while furrowing his brow. Take 20 on CK for 30 perception.

Karethas, do you have access to creatures that could clean the flesh from Kzrira? Her body is in no state to move but I know if we can keep her bones there is hope that the powers that be may one day grant her life once more...

Amir picks over the remains like a vulture seeking the sweetest offal. The image is reinforced as he gruesomely deliberates the best way to flense Kzrira of her flesh.

The Carrion King is arrayed in a large breastplate ornamented in weird etchings of voracious mouths and jointed insect legs. The horrible great axe lies dangerously nearby. In addition, the fallen chieftain bears a heavy ring and thick belt both which appear magical.

The guard bears the standard masterwork scimitar and heavy pull longbow along with studded leather armor and a healing potion. The drowned priest yet wears common splint armor and a well crafted great axe. His healing wand is nearly drained. cure light wounds- 5 charges.
