I think the relationship between her and Manfred will produce some great back and forth dialogue... if he doesn't blow a fuse and thwack her for it. ;)

Wow! After intense IC outbursts, I always like to remind that it's purely IC and by no means represents any anger toward any player. I have PC's that use every opportunity to insult members of their party due to internal conflicts with them. I worry that someone may take it personal when it isn't, so just put a little No real anger here. type of follow-up.

The Exchange

And just to be clear, my shoanti will fight anyone who calls him a coward. That is painting a knight, i.e. an honourable warrior into a pretty nasty corner. Ulfak would be fine with him hitting Valtyra for that. She deserves it.

If someone's PC likes to use insults then they can expect violence in return. Everyone uses different weapons and a fist can often stop such name-calling. We may not be angry but don't get angry either when your rogue or sorcerer gets a black eye in return.

Without a good reason like running from an ogre. Manfred doesn't deserve to be called a coward.

Another thing is using Bluff against fellow players, I would rather that happens rarely. I have no wish to start taking ranks in Sense Motive for that reason. APs are hard enough without Ulfak constantly covering his back.

Just my two pence worth.

Cheers

I'm inclined to agree with French. It's not fair to cast Manfred in a role he hasn't yet earned and I'm sure doesn't want to play. In my experience, conflict this intense between characters works fine for novels, not always so good for roleplaying games especially right out of the gate where the party needs a good reason to hang together first and friendships and trust to dilute said conflict.

Just my opinion mind you.

I've had Pakak try to offer a mutual olive branch for everyone to grab onto, at the risk of metagaming here, I hope we all take it ICly

Wow indeed. Okay, deep breath everyone. And...release. Feel better now? Good.

Troy, I know you were just trying to have a bit of fun with Angelica's deception, but I do agree with the other players who have expressed their desire that such things be used very sparingly. It all seems to have set off a bit of a firestorm, though I'm sure that wasn't your intent.

In truth, disclaimers aside, it can be very difficult to separate emotional responses regarding our role-played characters from our own in real life. It's why inter-party conflicts rarely turn out well, and in fact, have ruined many a game. I truly like the mix of characters and players which we have assembled here...the role-playing so far has been excellent, even in the arguments between PCs. So I want you all to stick around. :)

So, in short, I echo the sentiments of French Wolf and Ridge. Let's try and ease up a bit on the friction and vitriol within the party, so we can have a cohesive group. Rivalries are fine, maybe even a bit of tension...but it's hard to imagine this game being successful if the PCs (or worse, the players) cannot get along together.

Holy crap! That got real unpleasant real quick.

Valtyra's response was way exessive... oddly so.
Then on rereading my post, I wondered if my 'gripping the sword hilt' might have been taken as some kind of threatening to draw to make you flinch kind of bullying, which was NOT what I intended at all. I absolutely apologize if that was how you read it.

If I substituted the phrase 'gripped the back of the chair', instead of his sword hilt, would that make a difference to peoples reactions? Especially Valtyra's.

Because yeah, we need to find a way to work together, even if we dislike each other.

And that cube is totally a Datacron...

Yeah, I really wasn't expecting it to get that far. I figured Angelica would be interrupted before she got into it deep. She isn't built to be conflicting, she just likes to have fun. She won't lie to her team, it was just that for a few brief moments they were all strangers.

The scene reminded me of the one in Resevoir Dogs, where he won't let them pick their own names because then they would all pick Mr. Black and no one would back down.

As far as the cube, it looks like a Hellraiser puzzle box to me.

Yes, I read it as, "out of control guy in anger, gripping a weapon, and advancing on someone."

Gripping the back of the chair would have resulted in me merely watching in interest :)

To give you a bit of her motivation behind this - let's compare it to a RL situation.

If I had a gun (and I kinda think of sorcerers and wizards as always having a gun ready) and I saw someone fly into a blind fury, grip a weapon, and start advancing on someone else. I'd draw the gun and say, "stop or I'll shoot." If the person didn't stop immediately, before they made it into range to hurt someone with the sword, I'd shoot them.

I figured she would have been so surprised by a knight threatening violence in her Ladyship's house, that she wouldn't have reacted fast enough to do that. But seeing him merely acting intimidating towards Angelica, well, bullying doesn't sit well with me in anyway, especially against women. I've had too many guys in RL try to throw their size at me to get me to 'behave' whereas they'd never do that to another guy, knowing the guy would punch them.

And since he escalated a mere verbal joke into threats of violence - and deadly violence at that. She thought, first she needed to make certain he stopped doing that, and second, which is why she was smiling throughout the whole time at him, she was deliberately trying to provoke him.

She wanted to see if he could control his anger - if he acted like that at inappropriate times towards the wrong people, that would be bad. So, yes, she went over the top on verbal abuse, but I find it funny that you find me being verbally abusive more 'excessive' than threatening deadly violence with your sword.

That's weird to me.

Well, I don't quite buy the comparison as given, but since the matter has been dropped by Sir Manfred's player (With apology no less) best to carry on I guess. ;)

I'm not sure what to do about the cube, though I suppose a religion check is probably wise. Might as well have Pakak earn his keep.

EDIT: Not a good sign on the Edice there

Female Changeling "Varisian" Burglar 4/Fighter 2 (AC: 20 [T: 14 /F: 16] (+2 vs Traps); HP: 49/49; F+4, R+7 (+2 vs traps), W+1 (+2 vs Illusions/Fear); Init: +3; Perc: +16 [+18/+20], 60' darkvision)

Since letters can be switched, I'm thinking an anagram. One that probably spells a command word or something. Then again, I'm a scrabble junkie, so maybe that's just what I want to see when I see movable capital letters ;)

Would a Knowledge roll be appropriate for Arcana, History, Geography or Dungeoneering? :)

It doesn't hurt to try, just throw down an Arcana and History, see if it nets you anything.

Female Changeling "Varisian" Burglar 4/Fighter 2 (AC: 20 [T: 14 /F: 16] (+2 vs Traps); HP: 49/49; F+4, R+7 (+2 vs traps), W+1 (+2 vs Illusions/Fear); Init: +3; Perc: +16 [+18/+20], 60' darkvision)

Was just thinking of the group and made a few realizations.

We have:
2 Half-Orcs
2 Humans
2 Human variants (Changeling Hag-human, Aasimar Planetouched Human)

Of these, they are:
2 Half-orcs.. both Divine Casters
2 Humans... both Meleers
2 Variants... both women

One from each of these groups bears signifigant tattoos
Ulfak
Soval
Valtyra

Sorry, just noticed the interesting pattern.

Guys, I'm sorry, but I need to put the game on hold, at least for a few days. Hopefully that's all it will be. I want to be as forthright with you all in your expectations so I need to let you know what's happening. Again, my apologies, but I need to sort something out in real life.

The Exchange

Take your time, mate. Its a game after all.

Cheers

No problem, games can stop at any time, but life keeps moving forward. If you have to set some things aside to make sure you stay with it, then by all means, do so.

Male Dwarf Wizard (Abjurer)-9 (Mythic Archmage 2)(Current HP 54/62)

No problem , hope things go well for you

NP, RL kicked me pretty hard too...

Male Human Cavalier L1-- AC 18-(T10-F18) | hp 13/13| F4, R0, W2 | Init+0 | Percep +0 | Status: OK

Understood man.

Male Dwarf Wizard (Abjurer)-9 (Mythic Archmage 2)(Current HP 54/62)

I'm going to be driving a LOT the next two days (Family situation) so I'll be posting slow at best.

Male Dwarf Wizard (Abjurer)-9 (Mythic Archmage 2)(Current HP 54/62)

Any news?

The Exchange

Ulfak Niarka is out. Given the past history of our DM and his lack of concrete information I am not prepared to keep waiting.

However I do wish Cry Havoc and the other players well. Hopefully I'll get the chance to game with some of you again.

Cheers

Male Dwarf Wizard (Abjurer)-9 (Mythic Archmage 2)(Current HP 54/62)

Yeah. I think after three weeks of not so much as a word, we can color this campaign dead :(

Female Changeling "Varisian" Burglar 4/Fighter 2 (AC: 20 [T: 14 /F: 16] (+2 vs Traps); HP: 49/49; F+4, R+7 (+2 vs traps), W+1 (+2 vs Illusions/Fear); Init: +3; Perc: +16 [+18/+20], 60' darkvision)

In case it matters, I'm just letting everyone know I got picked up for another SStar campaign. Good gaming all.

Male Dwarf Wizard (Abjurer)-9 (Mythic Archmage 2)(Current HP 54/62)

I got snagged for one as well... so I'm out of here. Best of luck to you guys
