Shards of the Titanswar

Game Master EldonG

The ruined monastery is exactly one of those places parents warn their children about. I wonder why...

Shall we ambush from range again, or shall we make this fight personal?

Female Elf Wizard

Aya smiles at Reiko and whispers: It's always personal, but I prefer range.

Hiding... sounded like a good idea at the moment. Sakuro burrowed down as far as she could...

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

...hoping that this time, she'd be able to take the enemies down fast enough to really help everyone else. With that, she focused her arcane energies into her hand...

Tania and Alyra also lay low - there's not much to hide behind, up here.

Within seconds, everyone is rewarded with their first glimpses of the coming ogres as they stomp up the trail. Tania looks over at Sakuro then, and whispers - Hey, cast that greasy spell near the top of the trail, so they have trouble getting to the top!

She then nocks an arrow, and readies herself for combat.

Initiative please.

Tania: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Alyra: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Sakuro nodded, whispering a few arcane words under her breath before throwing her hand out and smearing the ground with all the greasy substance she could muster. If pressed, she would admit that the idea of ogres charging uphill, only to slip and roll back down was an entertaining one. ...She was a bad person, wasn't she?

Casting Grease near the top of the trail. 4/5 1st level spells remaining today.

One handles it amazingly well, and so Tania picks him out as a first target.

...and the one that managed to make it to the top falls to the bottom, sporting an arrow through the eye, falling past his buddy who looks like a first time ice skater, skating uphill.

Ooogh! Whut der?!? I's gunna...AH!

- flat on his face.

We're in a surprise round. Single actions only!

Alyra takes the round to touch as many people as she can. (I think she can manage to get everyone in the link, at this point.)

Bwahahahahahaha! Oh gods did she love magic when it worked! Ah, say what you would about the beloved fireball - it was when you did other things that you really had fun. With that, while they were distracted, Sakuro whispered quickly and hurtled a glob of acid through the air.

That crossbow of Antonio's was pretty nice, though... maybe she should see about getting one of those for the moments like this... Especially when her spell went that far away from the enemy. Urk. Next time, perhaps she ought to laugh a little less?

Varuk, I do believe you have an attack. Moving like greased lightning, even making Alyra look slow this time. ;)

As a touch attack against a floundering beached whale (ok, not quite, but close), Sakuro's 6 actually hits. Because you guys are above him, I'm giving the 'adjacent to prone target' bonus.

Round 1_____________

Is the second one down as well now? If not, Antonio reloads.

Liberty's Edge

Down, as in wallowing in the grease. Not terribly damaged. Otoh, Tania's turn:

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

The first arrow buries into the shoulder, making it howl. The second deflects off of the tough armor.

Alyra whips a slingstone at it...

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

...and another.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

From her place as far back as she could manage, Sakuro hurled another glob of acid towards the ogres. They should still be a bit off-balance and all, so hopefully the group's continuing barrage would be enough to keep them down...

Aya takes aim at the remaining ogre.

Liberty's Edge

The ogre gasps, his mouth working like a dying fish, as he paws at the last arrow, then goes slack.

Nice shot. Glad I got you that bow.

Tania looks satisfied.

Female Elf Wizard

Aya smiles at Tania. You make great bows and arrows. Thank you.

Antonio swears under his breath.
"I guess we better drag these guys out of sight now."

Female Elf Wizard

Aya helps Antonio drag the dead ogres out of sight.

Liberty's Edge

They are enormously heavy. The grease helps, for a while.

He'll be wondering what happened when the first shift doesn't return. Hard to say what his response will be. Staying might give us another easy group...or...

Tania shrugs, looks thoughtful, and waits for responses.

Female Elf Wizard

Aya busies herself locating and checking the arrows she shot. Then looking around at the group says, I agree that the ogre leader might send a few to investigate or might end a large group. Hard to say which. But I think our best bet is to hide here and wait.
Then she attempts to hide. Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Female Elf Wizard

Eldon, How do you intend to handle recovering arrows?

Female Human Arcanist 4/Arch. 1 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 13, T: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: +3, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | BAB: +2, CMB: +4, CMD: 17 | Init: +9, Perception: +6 |

Sakuro shrugged slightly - she didn't know the area well enough to suggest strategies. All she could really do was help out as much as possible in her own ways, though she did check the bodies of the ogres just to see if they had anything that might make everyone's lives a bit easier. One never knew what sorts of things beings of this type might collect...

Male Human Rogue (Unchained, Swashbuckler) L2 | AC19 (T14F15) CMD16 | HP 17/17 | Saves F1R7W-2 | Percep +2 | Init: +4 | Status: OK

Antonion nods, gasping for breath after moving such huge dead weights.
"Yeah... We'll ambush the next bunch as well. Just make sure we have easy routes out of here. The leader is supposed to be brighter than the average ogre, and he might realize what's going on faster than we like."

Liberty's Edge

Arrows are recoverable 50% of the time.

Liberty's Edge

Recover arrow: 1d100 ⇒ 67

Liberty's Edge

Don't worry 'bout runnin' out. I have plenty of those. Still, recovering 'em isn't a bad idea. Now...those bolts...I can make 'em, but got no more right now.

Tania looks around at everyone.

If we're staying, be prepared for 'most anything.

Liberty's Edge

This time, you don't have nearly as long to wait. Within the hour, there are two more trundling up the twisting trail - but something is different.

These two are carrying axes that make the one Lunk had look like a playtoy.

Crap.

Tania looks concerned.

He sent two of his warriors. Be ready. This could hurt.

Female Elf Wizard

OK. Should I try to sleep them or should I keep the spell for later? I'm thinking there may be a bigger group later.

Liberty's Edge

I don't know enough about magic...I've only ever cast a couple of spells...if you think it might stop, or slow down one or both...I mean, those axes would cut one of us in half!

Tania's rushed, and looks concerned.

Female Elf Wizard

When the two ogre warriors get to 100 ft. from Aya she starts casting a sleep spell targeting the closest one.
If they are already within 100 ft., she starts casting the sleep spell now.

Sakuro crouched down low, focusing on her own arcane powers - ready to cast another Grease if the enemies got within range and could threaten the rest of their group. For now, though, she was doing her best to remain hidden and away from negative attention.

Liberty's Edge

Stuff: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Stuff: 1d20 ⇒ 20

As one jabbers aimlessly, the other stops and stares right at the place bodies are hidden. They've reached the first switchback.

Anybody taking actions, roll initiative.

Init: 1d20 ⇒ 15

The spell, unfortunately, fails to affect either of them. Too high HD.
