Yalm stays in his study as you all head out to practice or train with Leorn. You find Leorn back at the stables. "What? You want me to teach you how to survive in this world?" Leorn listens to Terry's request. "Rogue? Yes I know a few rogue aspects. I can teach the following: Normal Rogue skills are always useful, I know sniping, survivalist, scouting, chameleon, poisoner, trapsmithing, and acrobatics. Any of those sound interesting to you?"

For those of you who actually practice the innate abilities you all have, you find it hard but rewarding when you finally get results. You are unable to repeat any of them as the practice is really difficult and tiring.

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

Ashley nodded her head absentmindedly at Yalm's words. None of the paths of knowledge and training he had mentioned had particularly interested her. She did feel there was a path calling to her though, but she wasn't quite sure how to articulate it. It sort of felt like she was being watched, like there was some sort of destiny settling on her shoulders.

She did find the thought of spending time with Leorn appealing though. In fact whenever she thought of any of her suddenly even more attractive friends or Leorn she felt a flush of heat in her loins. 'What is happening to me!' asks herself. But at the same time, her new feelings feel so natural she does not really mind them.

Wanting to escape from herself for a moment and get some fresh air, the new redhead moves out doors. As Terry speaks with Yalm she begins to quiet herself and focus on the new feelings within her. Feeling the heat in her blood she finally raises her hands and suddenly sparks of fire leap out of her palms! As they fall on the grass it begins to smolder and instinctively she stomps on it to put it out. Yet even as she does so she feels the hunger well up in her and then die away just as quickly. While it was there though that part of her wanted the fire to light and spread, consuming all.

Unsettled, she puts her hand out on a tree branch, wondering at this dark new feeling inside of her. Just as her thoughts start to turn downward the branch suddenly alights and she steps back in surprise 'Did I do that??' and without words she feels an answer well up within her 'Yes, the Fire consumes, but it also brings Light into the darkness. Always remember this little one'

Comforted, Ashley breaks off the now glowing stick, just like the one Yalm had given them before, and moves over to listen to Leorn speak. Perhaps this talk on Acrobatics might be interesting. She was...she did used to be a cheerleader after all. Every once in a while, she looks down at the glowing stick and smiles.

Shano, I'm leaning most towards taking Ashley into Oracle. But that's not really something that can be trained, can it? If not, I was thinking perhaps something more along the lines of RPing the 'divine presence' or something similar coming into her, making her into an Oracle. What do ya think?

***INACTIVE***

Terry mulls that over. "Normal rogue skills...like picking locks, climbing, sneaking around, sleight of hand, slipping out of bonds, things like that? I can already do a lot of that sort of thing. Hmmm...." He pauses, distracted, as Ashley undulates by. He does a double-take when she ignites the grass, then pauses again in thought, rocking from side to side on his feet. "Sorry again, Leorn--something I want...no, something I need to do right now."

His voice trails away as he turns from Leorn and closes his eyes, left hand cupped in right hand at about waist level. Breathe...feel the flow...reach for it...there! From the storm in his center, the merest tendril of energy flashes up his spine and down into his right hand. He raises his open hand to the sky and releases what it holds, opening his eyes in time to see the crawling blue-white lightning bolt arc upwards from his hand. As the echoes of the thunderclap die away, an exultant smile crosses his face. "That was great! Let's see if I can do that again!" But as he sinks back into the posture and reaches inside, instead he feels something else...a presence within him. *No, no, little master of Air. You are yet too weak to bear the full fury of the storm. Grow strong, and then you will shake the world!*

He opens his eyes in surprise. "Did any of you hear...no, I don't suppose you would have. Anyway, let's talk skills, Leorn. I have to get stronger!"

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

As Ashley watched Terry shoot his bolt into the sky, another thrill went through her. Partly for witnessing his new Power, but much more so because she instantly felt, knew, she could do something very similar.

Yet something inside of her, perhaps the remnants of the girl she was before, made her hesitate. Fire was dangerous. What if she missed and hit someone or something? What is she set something on fire and it went out of control?

Control, yes, that was what she needed. And if she got stronger, she would have more control, wouldn't she?

Moving closer to Leorn, laying a soft hand on his arm her voice unconsciously takes on a deeper, more seductive tone as she purrs "Yes Leorn, teach us how to become stronger"

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Guys you dont get any other spells, Terry you get Gust, and Breathe, we do not get any other spells just to clarify and both spells are once per day right now

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

I undestood that we get the bloodline powers as well, which is an elemental ray.

***INACTIVE***

That's what I was using--the bloodline power.

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

SORRY!!!! long day plus mind blank equals forgetfull ness of whole class features hehe again real sorry I was still on only getting few spells part

***INACTIVE***

No worries; I make enough mistakes myself...in fact, I just messed up a combat maneuver resolution in a game I'm running, and had to be corrected by one of the players.

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

If I ever come off argumentative I really dont mean to be sorry again

Trenton listens to the list of skills Leorn is able to teach and while interesting he shrugs and walks off by himself contemplating his own place in the world. I don't think any of those sound...right. He thinks to himself before turning his eyes to watch Ashley with interest.

Her display of power startles him and almost instinctively he strides over and growls out. " Don't you remember that these trees sang our our welcome and now you burn them? Control yourself Ashley don't let the new power consume you. " Not even waiting for a reply he walks over to the tree and on a moment of insight slowly kneels down and cups his hands in-front of him. Power flowed down into his hands and water began to fill his hands, when it began to trickle down his fingers he slowly tilted them down till the water splashed down among the roots. He rose and circled the tree continuing to pour the water from his hands. When he reached his original spot the water stopped and he wiped his hands slowly down on his robes to get them dry but found oddly they already were. He turned and looked at Ashley and then terry seeing the lightning bolt soar into the sky his eyes widen in wonder and curiously his thoughts turn inward.

Can I do that? he wonders and startlingly a voice seems to answer him,Yes little mage soon the powers of life giving water and icy death shall be at your disposal. Learn from Yalm, your path will reveal itself with the receding of the tides. the voice sounding as a bubbling brook, a rushing river, the roar of oceans wave breaking on rocks, the crack of black ice. It sounded singularly and all at once. And then the voice fades echoing softly in his head.

Afterwords Trenton turns and strides back to the house leaving his companions, his steps leading towards Yalm's tower once more.

Male Human Druid/Sorceror 1

Reginald heads outside to Leorn, thinking about what Yalm said in regards to training. The one that appealed most to him was when Yalm said, "He can teach you to be one with nature." Reggy thinks about what that means, and pictures a man as indestructible as a mountain, yet with the gentleness of a light breeze. He likes this picture, and when he gets to Leorn, he asks in a level and deep tone, "And what can you teach us about becoming one with nature?"

When practicing his power a bit later, Reginald stands still with his legs spread in a firm stance. He focuses his mind inward, and pictures a vast desert. This picture percolates in the front of his mind until actual sand starts to form around him in a circle about head level. It quietly falls to the ground and forms a neat circle around him before the breeze gently lifts it away. Reggy continues to stand in the same firm stance and contemplates the sand.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Suddenly my players are hearing voices......this is not a good sign. Just so you are all aware, For the time being, Sorcerer is your magic class. Since there are no divines in this world, there technically wont be any divine classes. However, this does not mean you cannot take them. In this case. A divine class will work the same as it normally does with the exception that the domain you take must relate to your element. Or in the case of an oracle, there must be a mystery that relates to your element.

Leorn looks puzzled as Terry wonders off to try out his new abilities. Leorn smiles with contentment as he watches the youths exercise their new powers. When Reggy comes to him with his request Leorn chuckles. "Most of that is moving in and about nature with great skill. There are some powers to be acquired from such training, though there are few these days able to use them thanks to Xivasar. Initially you can use these powers to either call a powerful creature from the wilds to stand by your side as a faithful companion. The two of you will be linked by a strong bond that transcends what is typical of a normal master and pet relationship. Otherwise, you could use this training to further your own elemental abilities. I'm sure Yalm would be able to assist me in teach that to you."

***INACTIVE***

As I imagined it, what Terry was hearing is the piece of himself that used to be the elemental...an ancient power that's probably seen a great many sorcerers come and go. As time goes by and the fusion stabilizes, he'll stop thinking of it as something outside of himself, but for now the bicameral mind hasn't yet broken down completely. If that doesn't sound like a good handwave, let me know and I'll rewrite it.

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

What Terry wrote is almost exactly along the lines of what I had been thinking for Ashley as well. In regards to Oracle, I may have to change things up a bit to fit in with your guidelines Shano, that cool by you?

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

I kinda just jumped on board lol though is fun aspect seems all great heros hear voices lol example Mat and rand from Wheel of time, Harry Dresden, list goes on lol also way I interpreted and I think some of the others as well was the elementals are now part of us perhaps their consciousness came with it to guide their "chosen" ones along the path?

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Trenton slowly ascends the stairs for the second time this day and peers into the room he had so recently accepted this change in his life. He thinks back on what he would be doing back home. Unpacking boxes still, eating take out as the kitchen was still not done, waiting on dad to get home as well as mom out trying to introduce herself to the neighbors with his little brother finding a preschool for him. How could he go back to that after....this...singing trees, elves, magic, power...

He shook his head and went back to looking into Yalm's study. he calls out softly hoping he wasn't interrupting the wizard.

"Yalm? Are you there? I hoped to talk to you. It's....Trenton..."

Male Human Druid/Sorceror 1

Reginald thinks about what Leorn is offering. The idea of a powerful animal companion doesn't seem to suit him. He didn't get along with animals particularly well anyways, and he was thinking about something more along the lines of Leorn's second choice. He gives a deep Hmmmmm... of concentration before telling Leorn, "I will think more on this." He decides to go off a little bit from the rest of the kids, over in the middle of the meadow which the unicorns were grazing at, and meditate on this decision.

Suddenly, after about five minutes, it hits him that he's meditating in the middle of a field. That didn't sound like something he'd ever do before. If I would do this before, I'd just get bored immediately and go watch TV. Is this part of the new powers? He meditates on his newfound patience some more before getting back to the problem at hand.

He contemplates becoming one with nature more, thinking about what Leorn has told him the powers will allow him to do. It sounds satisfying to him, to be able to transcend the boundaries between himself and the world around him, to meld in harmony with the natural rhythm of the beasts and plants, seas and skies. He meditates on the wonderful ideas that this suggestion has put into his head.

To anyone else looking at him, Reginald moves to the middle of a field, sits down, and stays really still for a very long time.

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

Sorry I haven't been posting as much. I've been seriously ill for the past couple of days and have not had any stamina to make any detailed posts in most places. If I feel better later this afternoon, I will post. Again I'm sorry for this. Things will be back to normal once I don't need to sleep 18 hours a day.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

@Trent
The door to Yalm's study opens and he looks out at you. "Leorn have nothing to show you? What do you seek for me to teach you my boy?"

@Terry and Ashley
Leorn looks surprised by the requests that both Ashley and Terry come to him with. "You both want to be stronger huh? Terry, I take it you want me to train you in the art of Rogue. Is there a particular expertise you would like to excel in? I can teach most of the spin offs. One of my personal favorites is Sniper. There are of course many others such as Acrobat, Knife Master, Survivalist, Trapsmith, scout, and a few others. Any of those sound like something you would like to learn?" Leorn looks to Ashley. "My you seem more aggressive than you were last time I saw you. I could teach you to become stronger but it would have to be guided somehow. Do you have any former experience or would you like to learn something new?"

You guys will have at least 3 in game days to learn what you can from Yalm and Leorn.
One quick note. ALL classes have to be trained for the first level. Divine and other spell casting classes are going to be rare as that is why you are here in the first place. This world has a huge lack of magic users. The following classes are rare: Summoner, Oracle, Cleric, Wizard, Sorcerer, Alchemist, Witch, and Paladins. Keep in mind that you may not ever come across the ability to learn any of the previously mentioned classes.

I did see that Trent, thank you for trying to help though. Shaosuke, you last post kind of answered my question, but not really. My point/question was that, IMHO at least, the Oracle class in particular seems like one that cannot really be taught. They are almost like 'the unwilling class'. No one asks or tries[i] to be an Oracle, it's just sort of [i]forced on them without their permission. And so especially if we are making it a sort of elemental oracle, I was thinking that maybe it's something that might just gradually overcome Ashley? Although as I think on it now, maybe she could find people to help her train to 'listen to the voices' or 'center and be clear within her self'. Maybe monks could help her?? Or a monk and a druid? Cause her kind of oracle would be closer to a druid than a cleric I think. And if you look at the water, wind, stone or flame mysteries they actually look a lot more like sorcerer. Don't cha think?

And No Worries about the cold bro! Just get better! I'm getting over flu right now myself so I feel where you're coming from. Be well

***INACTIVE***

"No, Leorn, I like the idea of being able to find traps and alarms. There's also some weapons training involved, right? Like fencing and archery?"

At some point, Terry will ask Yalm to spend some time teaching him (and probably the other three) at least the rudiments of magical theory (Knowledge (Arcana) and Spellcraft).

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

Anyway, in the meantime there's some more RPin' ta do

Ashley smiles at the elf's misunderstanding "My apologies Leorn if I was unclear, but what I meant was that I wish to grow stronger in this power, that flows within me. I feel as if my very veins are afire! In a glorious way! And I need to know how to release this power, how to strengthen it and myself self as well, mind, body and soul. Are these things you can help me with? Or can you lead me to those who can?" she she speaks, her passion grows, as does her beauty, and both Leorn and Terry are nearly memorized by her glowing amber eyes.

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Trenton ducks his head slightly before coughing clearing his throat.

"How is it you do magic Yalm? Are you a sorcerer like us? Or are you something different? I guess... I ask because well I tried to be a soldier in my world..but I was rejected there, is there a way...to combine this new magic in me and being a soldier into one bond or should I take the two separate paths and hope they blend someday? What can you tell me Yalm, the others..seem to know where they want to be but I am lost." As he speaks Trenton looks up with his new deep blue eyes hoping to see Yalm's reaction, he grows nervous as every other time when it cam to a crucial moment when someone with authority came to judge him. Just like the doctor in MEPS when he had announced that since Trenton had flat feet he could never be in the Navy, something Trenton had trained for years to achieve and accomplish as in his dreams.

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Sorry bout double post but yes essentially Trenton is asking is there any way to be a mgus or should he just be fighter sorceror though now i am really considering druid though doesnt match character make up much lol anyways will wait for answer before Trent heads down to hear the wrath of the fire lady come down on his head lol

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Ok im looking at my options and im thinking fighter or magus definitely but I have really important question shano would you be willing to allow scimitars weapon finesse as an ability? I have never understood why they don't have it but thats just me lol. anyways all waiting on your response hope your feeling better though. Also I was reading your other game and I am so jealous lol the use of the Lamia is amazing haha i was like NO WAY! haha still excited to get more along in the this story :)

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Sorry, being sick has made it hard for me to give this campaign it's due attention. Since it is extremely difficult to run this game with all the rule modifications I have made. I appreciate your patience. Hopefully once I am better I will be able to run this more efficiently.

Yalm is a bit taken aback by Trent's volley of questions. "Settle down there boy. I am a wizard. I draw my powers from disciplines and books, however, that power doesn't work quite as well anymore thanks to Xivasar. You won't find many spell casters in this world. Near to none to be exact. Only a privileged few have the tools to use any spells. Wizards, witches, oracles, druids, and summoners. It is possible to blend combat and spellslinging together. This practice was taught to the Fabled Mage Knights. This was the discipline of the spellsword(Magus). There are few who know its practice. Sadly, neither Leorn nor myself are among those few. Leorn can teach you to fight but that is about it. Don't worry my boy. You'll find your path. Now if you'll excuse me. I have some things to take care of before I can train you kids in anything. Patience and you will learn what you need." With that Yalm gently shuts the door.

Leorn looks at Ashley and smiles. "Time will train you better than I can in that regard. Patience and practice. Now for Terry. I will show you the ways of the rogue." Terry begins to train with Leorn as the rest of you toil about.

It is dark by the time Leorn finishes with Terry and Yalm finally emerges from his study. As you all eat your before bed meal. Yalm addresses you. "Much is going to happen from this point on. You have power. But no where near what you need. Starting tomorrow I am going to help you unlock more spells and aid you in your capacity to cast simple ones. Now get some rest. Tomorrow is a big day."

With that you all turn in for the night. You have some of the craziest dreams that night. You feel your emotions running wild, intermingling with something else that is hard to describe. The person you were is no more, though the experiences you have had still exist. Slight alterations now exist and you feel more attuned to your element than you were before. However. There is something seriously out of place. For one, battle. You have never in your life considered that you would be expected to battle a dangerous individual whose objective may in fact be to kill you. And how many battles would you have to fight to get there. A wave of insecurity sweeps over you all. And soon you find yourselves questioning. Why are we here? Is this dangerous? How exactly are we to accomplish our goal. These very questions bring about a very unrestful sleep.

The next day comes about and Leorn sets about awakening you. "Time to get up. We have a lot to go over today. I get one of you to train and Yalm gets the other three. Come and have breakfast and we will begin."

For the most part you are all groggy but manage to shake it off. In the kitchen Leorn has prepared fresh eggs with toast and honey. The food is delectible and seems to aid in soothing your nerves from last nights disturbing thoughts.

Sorry for the big post. I'm running behind in this campaign and there really isn't much more you all can do until the next day. Now that the next day is here. Roleplay a bit and figure out who is going to get the next does of Leorn's training.

Male Human Druid/Sorceror 1

Reginald comes back before dinnertime, seeming just as stolid as he left. He eats quietly, then goes to bed early.

The next day at breakfast, as Reginald quietly and calmly ate his eggs, he offers, "Well, I've decided I'd like to train to become one with nature. However, if another would like to train with Leorn, I can wait. I am patient." He smiles on the inside, though no sign of it is evident on his face.

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Trenton looks around at his companions and then slwoly stands looking to the elf. Leorn I need....a sword. Yalm mentioned to me and well someday I will find a way to be like the mage knights he spoke of but for now ill settle for a sword. Do you think you have some around? But I for now I will study magic with Yalm. he blushes slightly but soon regains control under the eyes of Ashley and the the other two.

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Is it bad its been almost 4 days without someone else posting? lol

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

Was still kinda waiting for an answer to my question about Ashley trying for Oracle, but I understand Shanosuke's been unwell so just been trying to be patient! Not easy when I'm liking this game so much ; ) But will post something tomorrow.

I answered your question. All classes are trained. I'll admit that Oracle wasn't around when I first designed this but still. I believe that in this campaign, the abilities of an Oracle are trained as is the class. You wamt to be an oracle, you need to find one. And like all magic classes they are hard to find so you may have to wait. A bit. Does that answer your question? If not then I have misunderstood what it is you are looking for and will be unable to answer it. For that I apologize. Let me say this. There will be at least one trainer for EACH class before the end of chapter 4. Which reminds me. We have concluded chapter 1 and begun chapter 2.

***INACTIVE***

Well before dawn, Terry lies awake after a fitful sleep, the dark room providing a canvas for the images spinning out in his mind...pictures of himself attacked with swords, arrows, clubs. I joked about dying before, but it really isn't anything to laugh about. And Yalm thinks we're destined to survive and defeat Xivasar...too many stories about heroes defeating the big bad and dying in the process. Or like in that Disney movie..."You'd be surprised what you can live through!" Eventually he gets up and quietly dances around the room, moving in a slow circle and waving his hands back and forth. Maybe it's the elemental in me, but I can't seem to sit still. This helps. And after a bit of that, he gets back into bed and falls asleep.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Okay, were going into hop, skip, and jump mode cause I'm growing just a tad impatient. Ready? Here we go.

The next day rolls around and Reginald is next on the training list.Yalm is once again indisposed. Leorn Trains Reginald to be a Druid. He can only teach the typical druid class.
Reginald can take only the following Nature Bonds:
Animal
Animal Companion
Cave
Desert
Earth
and Mountain.

You are granted no spells from the class except the domain spell, summon natures ally, and any other perk spells awarded naturally by the class.

Much of the rest of the day is uneventful as Yalm stays locked in his study. Any attempt to talk with him is met with. "I will train you some tomorrow, I have too much to do right now."
No further interactions may be forced.

The next day comes about and Leorn is now set on training you in the art of combat.

Leorn sets out an array of masterwork medeval weapons the likes of which you have only seen in movies. These weapons are unfamiliar to you as you have never in your life considered taking up arms in any sort of battle other than the army. But you have yet to have that opportunity. Leorn takes one of the longswords and swings it about. He has several practice dummies and targets laying about the horse corral.

Leorn spend much of the day training you in the art of killing. Practice dummies are set up and Leorn goes into grisly depth on the best way to kill or incapacitate another man. "Many have fallen to Xivasar's influence and will throw their very lives away to stop you from saving the world. Battles are messy affairs and I can see none of you have the experience of someone who has killed another. I have. The first time is always the most emotional. It's different for each person but it is never a simple matter of fact task. I can guarantee that at some point in your venture, you will be forced to take the life or lives of others." Leorn goes over the dangers of combat and how important it is to protect yourselves. After that discussion he makes a point to fit each of you with masterwork studded leather armor. "This should protect you a little from getting hurt by whomever is trying to kill you. Though it is always best just to not get hit. I will show you the best way." Leorn spends some time to give you ALL a free feat. Dodge. You all know have Dodge for free. Leorn looks at you all. "The most important aspect of combat is mentality. You have to be mentally prepared to fight for your life. I want you to take the weapons you feel best with and approach the dummies. I want you to picture a real person. Then I want you to attack that person." You struggle, weapons are unfamiliar to you and so is following Leorns instructions. Killing someone is even more difficult to imagine. Those of you desensitized by movies and video games may adapt a little but there are no controllers, you are wielding a real weapon and have never had to watch another person die. The training is mentally tiring as it is physically.

Near the end of the day, Yalm comes out with a sword. "Come Leorn, let us show them by example what a fight looks like." Leorn nods at Yalm and picks up his own sword. "Ready when you are master."

Leorn and Yalm clash in a magnificent display of skilled swordsmanship. Even though he seemed merely an old wizard, Yalm moved quick and with precision. Leorn himself was also very fast but it was clear that Yalm could read Leorn well. This was unlike anything any of you had ever witnessed. The closest may have been sticks in the backyard, a movie in the theater, or even a live display with choreography and fake weapons. This was real. The two bouted for a good twenty minutes. Near the end of their duel it seemed the two of them were really trying to kill one another. Once they had finished they withdrew their weapons and turned to face you.

Yalm spoke. "I hope you were watching closely. Fighting can be nerve racking at first but you need to make sure you are mentally prepared to defend yourself and cut down your foe if necessary. That concludes today's lesson, tomorrow I will teach each of you a new spell to use. For now, are there any questions?"

***INACTIVE***

Terry gets up slowly after watching the duel--it was so absorbing that he forgot to stretch after the weapons practice, and stiffened up. Oh, man...I hurt in places I didn't know I had! And that armor pinches in spots.

"Yes, one. If you don't mind answering, what have you been working on these past couple of days?"

And one other question: Between the weapons training and the first day spent working with Leorn, can Terry change his Expert level into a Rogue level?

Female Human Sorcerer/1 & Oracle/1 (gestalt)

Great post Shanosuke. I especially like how you made a point to emphasize on how our characters would not be used to killing at all. I will be sure to follow up on that when the time comes. And yes, your last ooc did answer my questions as I had been waiting for you to specifically answer my ideas about alternative forms of training. So I accept your answer no problem. But now I have another question, more of curiosity. So how will that work with levels for the different PC's? For example, if Reginald and Terry are getting their first levels now, but Ashley won't be able to even start on Oracle for a few more chapters, would that mean the other might have already advanced several levels before she even gets to first? If so, I may have to rethink her class...

As Ashley comes out with the others to begin lessons in combat, she is obviously giving Trent a bit of the cold shoulder. She was still somewhat steamed at him for his completely unnecessary chastisement of her the other day. Obviously she had never meant to set fire to the grass! And her flames came nowhere near the trees! The fact was though that she felt an odd repulsion and attraction to Terry at the same time. For she knew that Fire had a natural enmity to Water, yet at the same time, the Water element pulled to her as well. Not as strongly as Fire did, yet she had, however strangely, always felt an affinity to Water as well.

Whatever, she didn't have to figure it out all now. Besides, a little silent treatment never hurt any boy. And what was more, there was sexy Leorn swinging a sword about to captivate her attention. Watching him instruct them in combat was much more interesting than she might have imagined. She understood both his and Yalm's cautions about what it might be like to kill someone, but she still just couldn't make the idea of it seem real to her. How could she ever kill someone??

Still, the training itself was interesting and kind of fun; but tiring! Out of all the weapons, the rapier was one of the ones most comfortable for her. It was lighter than most of the other weapons and she had taken a few fencing lessons last summer. And the idea of waving around some big meat cleaver of a sword just did not seem very ladylike to her. By the end of the day she was by no means an expert but she thought that she didn't look too ridiculous while she used it. But her arms were so sore she could hardly lift them.

Finally, watching Leorn and Yalm fight was incredible, the way they both moved! It left her feeling a little...hot. At the end, when Yalm asked them if they had any questions she responded, exhaustion clear in her voice. "Yes. I'm tired and sweaty and I just want to know where I can get a bath!"

She does also pay attention to Yalm's answer to Terry's question though...

Male Human Gestalt Expert/Sorceror/Magus 1

Earlier in the Morning:
When Leorn had handed him the set of armor he had donned it with some apprehension, obviously ewhen he had been training for the Navy and the Special forces tactical gear was commonplace but armor? Armor was well for the medieval ages. But once he had settled it into place he grins and finds it oddly comforting. The supple leather fitted him like a second and he couldn't help but do a few simple stretches and excercises to get used to the weight. Surprisingly it was very easy to move in it and Trenton looked forward to the next lesson with eagerness.

However he was now faced with a problem, the idea of killing somone was now brought up to the front of his mind. When he had first gotten the idea to go into the military he had known they would teach him to kill someone, but at a distance, with guns. This...this was to see the person's face, see his eyes, and then stab them and see the life flow from them. They would have families, loved ones, brothers, sisters, mothers fathers. And if he killed him they would lose them. Could he do that. Conciously kill someone with a sword?

Later:
When offered the array of weapons Trenton is overwhelemed, he sighs and slowly being to pick up each one feeling how each felt in his hand, the weight and balance of each. He wished he had some help or something to make the choice easier but finally he settled on a long bladed sword that had a slight curve towards the end though it seemed mostly for looks instead of some tactical advantage. It was heavier than most of the blades he had seen the others handle but this one seemed to just feel right. "Leorn can we umm keep these?" he asks after a momment of apprehension.

As he had watched the bout of swordsmanship he was slightly awed at the speed and skill the two apparent master swordsman displayed. The flickering light on the blades as they licked and thrust towards each other captured him in a way that seemed eurphoric. The ring of sword on sword excited him and the bout of weariness that had overcome him earlier with the stress of picturing a real person seemed to wash away and he was eager to try his own skill at arms against one of them even if it was to learn the art better.

Trenton raises a hand slwoly listeing to the others questions with interest but at the mention of a bath Trenton seemed to grow slightly eager, I wonder if theres even a place I could do a few laps in? Then he seemed to realize they were nolonger in class and he blushed slightly but lets his arm remain up waiting paitently for Yalm to get to him. When he does he asks " Yalm you have said Xivasar has conquered much of the world already correct? And we have already met Leorn and umm the woman in the woods...who else is I guess is on our side? I ask because if something happens to you we won't know where to turn to."

***INACTIVE***

Forgot to add this before: Terry also selects a rapier. At first, he has a lot of trouble striking hard with it, but over time begins to follow through more strongly. The old me wasn't a killer, but I'm more than that now, and the elements are dangerous...storms, avalanches, tsunamis, wildfires...that's what we have to be.

After Trent poses his question, Terry reaches over and pats him on the shoulder. "Good one."

Also forgot. Had this in my head but missed putting it down.

Earlier:'Ugh' is the first though that goes through Ashley's mind when the armor is presented to her and her facial expression reveals it, as do the words which follow it. "Are you kidding me? No. Way. Am. I. Putting. That. On. Look it at! The colour totally does no go with my hair! And look at these." she says as she displays her beautiful new robes. "No way I'm putting that yucky, smelly armor over this beautiful fabric. It would ruin it!"

Now, arms crossed, the fire in her eyes makes clear her stubbornness on this issue. "Anyway, like you said, the best way is not to get hit. And I'm pretty fast" her face then light up as she thinks of something "And hey! I remember reading in some of those books that sometimes the magic users had special ways of protecting themselves. I'll ask Yalm if he can teach me something like that."

Now: When Terry asks his question Ashley too turns to him and nods her approval, her earlier annoyance with him temporarily forgotten.

Really, great question dude!

I'll be home from work in about two hours, I'll post the good stuff then cause the answers to your characters questions need me to do a little reading first and the book is at home lol. Good questions though.

Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist)

Geez, go away for just a day and all these big posts!

I'll go with the Mountain domain as my Nature Bond. I'm changing the character now to be a Druid/Sorceror 1. Should I add Wild Emapthy and Nature Sense? I've included them for now, but I'll take them away if need be.

Reginald learns much in his day of training with Leorn, discovering that there is much more to becoming one with nature than he first anticipated. He further learns to manipulate the tough earth by creating ridges on a flat surface, usable as footholds when climbing or for creating difficult footing for enemies in combat. He even learns how to deal better with animals.

The next day, Reginald selects a club as his preferred weapon. One thing that Leorn taught him is that one dedicating himself to nature must use that which the earth gives them, so using a club seemed a better choice than a metal weapon which was processed and lost much of the primal essence of the earth. He isn't really seeing it as a weapon right now, in the sense that he isn't prepared to kill with it. Though he is unused to swinging such a large club in one hand, some practice makes his strokes more certain. Though he trained as hard as the other kids, he seems the least winded by it.

When Yalm asks about questions, Reggy waits for the others to ask their questions before asking, "What sort of underlings does Xivasar have?"

At Terry's question Yalm sighs. "These past couple of days I have been monitoring Xivasar's movements. Also running through a few books to try and figure out what other magics you are all capable of. Tomorrow I will teach you the foundation of all the spells you will one day be able to cast. The Manipulation Spell. I will tell you more tomorrow about that. Hopefully you will all be ready to learn it."

Leorn nods at Trent in regards to the weapons. "Yes these are your weapons to keep. Though we hope that you wont have to fight for some time, it never hurts to be prepared."

When Trent asks about the allies Yalm smiles. "Kellmanor is a large world full of stubborn people. There are many communities that exist just beyond Xivasar's borders. Xivasar is a strange foe who has united the remnant of Kellmanor against him. Elves, Humans, Dwarves, Orcs, Drow, Lizardmen, and many many others have set their differences aside to maintain a tight, if at times a little strained but always strong alliance. At this point all the races of the world know the threat that Xivasar and his dark power possess. There are several stubborn communities within his power grid that hold out against him even to this day. We have many friends. But we also have many enemies."

Leorn would have trained you in all powers level one druid provides. Same with the other classes folks took.

At Reginald's question Yalm sighs deeply. "Xivasar has countless underlings. I should tell you all about the Obelisk. It is a powerful tool that Xivasar has constructed to turn the minds of corrupted people to his cause. He has an army of slaves who have no fear and no remorse. They come like an unwavering tide of malice and hate destroying everything in their path. Like we have a large diversity of allies, we also have the same diversity of foes. The worst are the ones who give themselves over to Xivasar's rule. Those maintain their minds but this just makes them more dangerous as they are usually the most sinister and calculated of the lot. The most dangerous of these is Hellmaster Drethrum who was once an associate of mine before he turned to Xivasar's aid. Unlike myself, He has disposal of his full powers. He can open the very gates of hell and bring forth armies of demons, devils, daemons, fiends, and all manner of hellish beings that exist in the deep places of the world. He is a man to fear for he is Xivasar's right hand and the second most powerful sorcerer still living in this world. Hopefully you wont have to face him until your strong enough to fight him. The magic dampener caused by the vacuum of the elemental spirits affects all who live in Kellmanor. Few can tap into magic naturally and those that can can't even gain enough to contest with the powers of demons let alone Drethrum or Xivasar. Their power is colossal which is what gives them their edge over the rest of the world. That is why you four are so important. Your power can rival theirs and with four of you, well the odds just favor you is all. With Leorn and I's training, you can overcome any obstacle. So there is nothing to worry about." Yalm nods and then looks at Leorn to take over.

Leorn approaches the group. When he hears Ashley's complaint he sniffs his own underarm. "Hmm, indeed you are right. I am in need of a bath also." Leorn gently takes Ashley's hand. "Come with me. There is a spring nearby that we can bath in." He will begin to gently lead Ashley with him. Strangely, he doesn't seem to be talking to the rest of you.

Sorry to keep hounding you with questions Shaosuke but any response to my question about how leveling will work?

It will not happen for a good while my dear. Since none of you are trained adventurers and still only high schoolers at heart. You will not advance through levels quickly. When you do inevitably advance, you will gain a level in both your classes. For the first few, you will need training to gain feats or class abilities. However, skills will go up normally, hp will incease normally, your saves, and BAB, will alos go up normally. You will also have the option to create your own spells at level two. This doesn't mean take whats in the books. I have my own spell list for thid campaign. You can ask others for ideas or training or even find ideas amd training from books. Or even your own ingenuity. Just remember. All of the spells you cast MUST in some way use your element.
