Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

Ricdak chuckles at Pavok's joke. "A man o' little words ain't nothin' to complain about. I always think it's best if ye can keep the blab down."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Sorry for the delay. School is now started and I am finally settled into a routine. Hopefully we can move on from here without incident.

Okay time for a bit of a jump.

You linger a bit for the day buying and trading as needed and resting in the local in. The next day comes around and you make your way out of the city back on your journey to see the seer.

The journey to the border of the queen's lands is a safe one and takes only a day to do. Resting at the fort as permitted for the night, you pack your things once again and begin your trek along the mountain side.

You trek for most of the day following the mountain side road. Near the late evening you come across a peculiar sight. Three ogres of all things are hurling boulders down the mountain side for sport. They are smack dab in the middle of your path.

You have to decide how to proceed.
Going through them will likely result in combat.
You could attempt to go around them but that would require a series of climb checks and you still run the risk of alerting them.
To avoid the encounter competely would require you to take the long way around the base of the mountain. You won't have to fight them but you will lose a whole day of travel time.

The choice is yours. I will post again when an unanimous decision has been made.

Male Dwarf (Pahmet) Ranger (Warden / Trapper) 2

The smirk on his face obscured by his tagelmust, Mus'ad replies simply "Words can be given when the question has merit."
_____________________

Seeing the ogres upon the mountain does not faze Mus'ad overly, and he readies weapons for a fight he considers forthcoming.

Through - Mus'ad is a man of simple tastes :P
How wide is the path we are on currently?

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

We taking 'em out, then? Ricdak asks as he spots the ogres. "They may be big, but they shouldn't be anything we can't handle. An' it'll be a helluvalot faster then goin' around 'em.

M Human Fighter 1

"I say we just go on through real nice-like. If they wanna fight, then we'll give 'em one. Otherwise, we go on through and nobody gets hurt." He says with a smile. "But just to be on the safe side... keep your steel close to you, fellas. From the looks of 'em, I'm for thinkin' this may just get a bit ugly."

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

"I agree with Mac we can't waste more time trying to go around them. If they won't let us go by then we'll go through them." Pavok waits to hear the groups votes.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

"Aye. Sounds good to me," Ricdak says, bringing his dorn-dergar to bear.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Okay I am going to try and do a map. Gonna be intesting cause I am going to use a camera and photobucket. It's crude but should make things better. Give me a marching order and I will try and get a map up tomorrow evening.

Male Dwarf (Pahmet) Ranger (Warden / Trapper) 2

Mus'ad is happy to be out in front.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

Ricdak is fine either right behind him or behind whoever's second if someone really wants that top slot. Our whole team is pretty much a rear guard, so that's really not going to be a problem, generally, I don't think.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

I'll move in behind Ricdak or beside if I can.

M Human Fighter 1

Joe will be behind/beside Mus'ad.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Okay, I am a bit too tired from work to set up a map. But long story short, Mus'ad and Joe are in front side by side within 40 feet of nearest Ogre before they are aware of you. The road is 20 feet wide if the four of you wish to be in line. Anything beyond the road is difficult terrain. The three ogres are right on the road. Their formation is staggered. The first ogre is 40 feet, the second is 60 feet but chargeable by at least two poeple. The third is behind the other two and not assailable by any party members this round.

You guys have the initiative so take your turns.

M Human Fighter 1

"Alright fellas, here goes nothing." Joe clears his throat. "Hey there big fella! You wouldn't mind letting us mosey on through, would ya! We'd shor' 'preciate it!" Joe pauses a moment, a questioning look forms. "Ain't none of you fellas speak 'big fella', do ya? Not sure if they understand me or not." He turns his attention back to the nearest ogre, seeing if it's responded yet.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

As Joe begins to ask the big creatures about letting them move by, and adds "If you all enjoy good fights, then maybe you should of joining up with us againist the Anubinite army. Plenty of little creatures to squish and we could offer you spoils while they will just turn you into a mindless slave."

Diplomacy:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

M Human Fighter 1

Please see OOC.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2 Monk 2

Arik will stick with Pavok and try to flank with him.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Pavok calls out to the brute and now has their attention. They do not seem to understand what Pavok is saying however. In response they laugh and. Chuckling one of them points at Pavok saying something in Giant. Another nods and picks up a large rock and hurls it at Pavok just missing him. They laugh and then roar. The two in front brandish their greatclubs while the third begins to reach for another rock.

Your turns.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

Ricdak becomes enraged, charging forward as the one in the back throws his rock, and hopefully bringing his Dorn-Dergar to smack into the face of the first one. "YE MADE THE WRONG CHOICE, BASTARDS!" he screams almost unintelligibly in Dwarven as he charges.

Raging, Charging, using Power attack for -2 to hit and +6 to damage on the reach mode Dorn-Dergar, and using Reckless abandon for a +2 bonus to hit for -2 AC. AC 14 for the round.

1d20 + 9 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 2 - 2 + 2 = 21

1d10 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 6 = 25

AC against them is 18. 16 Raging AC, -2 Reckless Abandon, +4 from Defensive Training.

HP:71/71

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

Pavok doesn't show any fear as the rock flies by his head and sighs, "So sad that there deaths due to a language barrier. May you all die with honor." He bows his head at them as he stabs them with his double spear.

Attack1:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Attack2:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage1:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage21d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Both Martian Level 20 invader

@Pavok I do not see where you moved up to them.

Remember I stated the nearest of them, that would be the 2 with the clubs, are 40 feet from you. A charge would be necessary. Since their reach is 10 feet, anybody wishing to engage them melee will likely Take an AoO. Up to 4 of you can fit in front of these guys, save for Mus'ad as his camel takes up two front squares instead of 1.

To flank or get around these brutes will have you moving through difficult terrain after the first 30 feet.

It'll be tricky since all of you that remain are melee fighters. Tactically Al Gasreed's 50 foot movement should be enough to get along side one of the ogre with an AoO and leave room for the rest of you to charge up front.

@Mus'ad Rikdak already provoked from one of the ogres since he went first. If you move alongside that one you won't provoke since it doesn't possess combat reflexes. But that is more up to how Mus'ad would do things as opposed to Mark Sweetman. Just doing my best to offer strategic advice since I am too lazy to put up a map.

@Rickdak that Ogre hurts now. You take 24 damge from his AoO

I am finally at a point where I can keep up with posting more often. I will be pushing this game along more frequently over the next few months.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

Shano, does that Ogre have a reach of 15 feet with that greatclub? I'm using my Dorn Dergar as a reach weapon, so I only have to move just within his reach, not provoking.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

@Rickdak Oh, I completely forgot that the Dorn Dergar was a reach weapon.....okay, my mistake, you don't get AoO sorry. I don't see that weapon used much so I am not wholesomely familiar with all its rules. No damage fore Ricdak. Though the ogre still doesn't like you.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

No problem. I don't see it used all that much either, which is why I made a character that uses it. It's not just a reach weapon, though. It has the ability to be either, which is nifty. But I'd imagine that's not going to help the Ogre like me any more than he does right now.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

Sorry I thought they were close to us, by bad.

Pavok still sighs and comments as he charges the other ogre.

Charge Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Damage:1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

M Human Fighter 1

Joe shrugs, "Welp, I guess they aren't much for friendly talk." Joe follows in behind Pavok as he charges the same ogre.

Mwk. SwitchScythe w/PA: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 2 = 25
Damage: 2d4 + 18 ⇒ (1, 3) + 18 = 22

AC 15

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2 Monk 2

Arik charges with Pavok, his short legs pumping hard to keep up.

Charge 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Okay Mus'ad charges forward to attack and strikes one of the ogres hard but in return the ogre swings his greatclub so hard it sends Mus'ad flying off Al Gasreed and down the mountainside. Gasreed then resumes to flee.

Samal also races forward and claws another ogres.

Between all of you manage to take down the two front line ogres of the ogres

@Joe You took an AoO and were hit for 20 damage.

The ogre behind his two fallen fellows roars in rage and pulls out his own greatclub and bears down on Arik.

@Arik You are hit by the ogre for
25 damage

Your turn. All of your can easily attack the last ogre. No one is in your way.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2 Monk 2

Arik roars in rage and brings his iron quarterstaff down in a two handed blow.

Raging Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 for 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

Ricdak roars once more, slamming his dorn-dergar into the giant.

Same deal. -2 Att for +6 Damage, -2 AC for +2 Attack

Attack1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Damage1d10 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22

Crit Confirm/ooc]1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

[ooc]Crit Damage1d10 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21

I realized that I used the wrong attack modifier last round. +9 is non raging for me.

BAM.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

"MUS'AD!! YOU WILL PAY BEAST!!!" With that Pavok Jabs each spear head into the ogre.

Attack1:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Attack2:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage1:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage2:1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

M Human Fighter 1

"Dangit!"

Mwk. SwitchScythe w/PA: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Obviously distracted by the fallen Mus'ad, Joe misses horribly.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

The dwarves killed it.

You all get three large greatclubs. 3 Large suits of leather. 210 Rupia.

You also find the boulder that flew past Pavok actually flattened Tam. Catalina is no where to be seen. It is now just the four of you. Two Barbarians, A Fighter, and a Paladin.

Team Beatstick Hoora!

Go ahead and loot the gear for Tam and Mus'ad. You can take whatever gear they had on their profiles. Al Gasreed mourns his master and will not leave his masters fallen body. He will also not obey any of you.

Once you are ready to move on let me know.

M Human Fighter 1

I don't see anything on either of those guys that Joe would use. But the 2200 rupia that Mus'ad has will come in handy. You fellas can grab what you want. Joe's ready to roll.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

I'll take the mithral shirt and crossbow on Tam, if nobody else wants it. I know nobody can use it, at the very least, but I've got an idea for it. Ooh, ooh, can I have the bag of red rocks on Mus'ad?

M Human Fighter 1

It's all good to me, bud.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

On top of that I think we should gather the 4 CLW potions, 4 Rations, 2 Waterskins, and Map of Arida. We can hand out the potions which ever way you guys want. Will do these following acts after the items are collected.

After the beast goes down Pavok moves towards his fallen friend, he leans down checking on Mus'ad. A sadden look falls over his face as he sets down his spear and holds his holy symbol. "Torag is blessed to have a great warrior such as Mus'ad in his presence, the elf that took down a Anubinite General all by himself. One that trains a great ally, Al Gasreed." He gives a mournful smile to the camel and focuses back to his friend, "Rest for now my friend, one who live with the burdens of your blade. I hope you find a space by the forge father, you will be missed and your blade will eternally watch over your physical form." He takes out his spade and digs a grave for the elven warrior, and after he buries there lost comrade he takes his whetstone and gently puts a bit of holy water on it. He sharpens Mus'ads elven curve blade with it, while whispering fabled prayers. "May the steel you fought with watch over you and protect your physical form. The Forge Father's essence is within this blade and will make sure nothing foul will come over his body.

Not knowing Tam as well he still digs a grave saying a short prayer and blesses his morningstar. Using it to watch over Tams body.

He stands up, feeling better after doing some physical work. [b]"I am ready move when you all are. I hope not to fail protecting the rest of you. Let me know if any of you need healing let me know."

M Human Fighter 1

"I sure could use a bit o' that healin' there, buddy. That one big fella whopped me good."

I'm down 20 hp's. I'm glad I didn't get hit twice. :P

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

Ricdak, recovering from his rage after the final ogre is felled, says a few prayers for the fallen warriors. From what I knew o' them, they were good guys. The little one sure had a lotta fight in him for his size. Woulda made a good dwarf. He collects some of the gear that can be salvaged, and then helps Pavok bury them. Well, let's get going. There's not much we can do for 'em now.

Regarding healing, Ricdak replies, "Don't worry about me none, the bastards didn't hit me. Not that I wouldn't've rather been hit.

Edit: Ate my post earlier this week. In any case, if everyone else is, Ricdak's ready to go.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

Pavok moves over to Mac and channels positive energy through his hands onto his comrade. "May the blessings of the Forge Father, keep you combat ready." He then looks to Ricak and the others, "Very well lets head out."

Cure light wounds:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
lay on hands:2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
heals Mac for 15 hp

M Human Fighter 1

"Thanks, buddy! I shor' 'preciate that!" He gives Pavok a firm pat on the shoulder, grinning. "Alright! I'm ready to move on outta here."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

You all sweep up everything you need and move on. A forlorn group who has lost many companions on this quest. You manage to trek on following the mountainside for a few more days. Then FINALLY, you arrive at a nice size crevice in the stonewall. Built into this crevice is a modest dwelling. As you approach the tall familiar figure of Yalandere steps out the front door to meet you. "Glad to see some of you have survived and managed to make your way here. Allow me to properly welcome you to my dominion of Aradina and the lost land of Aridia. Come inside we have much to talk about."

Without allowing you the pleasure of asking questions, he leads you into the house. Inside you see cozy warm surroundings. Wood and stone were used to construct this simple home in the mountains with animal hides and furs all over. Yalandere leads you all into what appears to be a living room with a pleasant smell of incense filling the air with a sweet aroma. In this room is another elf. He stands and bows to you. "Welcome, I am Turval the great seer of Aridia. Come have a seat, I will get you some food and water."

You all take your seats, even Samal the Lamia joins you. The furniture is made mostly of wood and camel hides and quite comfortable. Yalandere sits in the opposite seating as the rest of you. Turval the seer leaves the room to fetch refreshments.

Once you are all seated Yalandere leans forward. "Before we get started, I would like to ask, what are your thoughts on what you have seen since arriving here?"

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

Pavok stares at the elf for a few minutes with almost a scowl on his face and just asks one question, "How did you get away from the ambush?" The human's age starting to show over his usual cool demeanor.

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2 Monk 2

"I have seen people bow to undead abominations rather than fight against the anubite epidemic. I see weak people..."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

At Pavok Yalandere sighs. "In the chaos of the attack I was taken by surprise. Who knew they would have an ambush waiting for my return. I led as many of them away from the sight as possible hoping those of you who survived would be able to over come what was left. I was there primary target after all. Once I had lost them I returned to find nothing left but pieces of the caravan and a few bodies. I teleported around leaving messages for you all to follow. I am sad to see so few of you have come."

He then turns his attention to Arik. "Unfortunately these people have been relying on the Genies for so long, they have forgotten how to stand up for themselves. Your right, there are weak people everywhere. But these are my people, and I will not abandon them no matter how complacent they have become. The Undead abominations you speak of are Pharox's people. He is an undead lord who resides somewhere in these lands. His people seem to be active but I know not what they have planned."

Male Dwarf Barbarian 4

These people may be weak, but some of 'em have got the fight in them. They've got potential, but they gotta be rallied, Ricdak says, scratching at his beard. You said there's undead? I didn't see none out there, but I suppose it's not outta the question. In any case, we're all that's left, as far as I know. 'S too bad..... some real good men were lost.

M Human Fighter 1

"Yeah we've lost way too many good folk. But don't you worry none, sir! We're still here to help ya out!" He says with a big smile.

Male Human(Kellid) Paladin(Hospitaler)-4

Pavok shakes away his stubborn youth, By Torag, I think my battle brother's stubbornness is rubbing off on me.

"Sorry, we have lost many that if I were stronger I could of saved. From what I have seen that the people need something or someone to believe in. The small villages only seek protection from others and don't even try to defend themselves, which makes them easy pickings from the evils of the land. The rulers of this kingdom made these people to dependant on others to do the work for them, now they are paying for it." He rests his hand on his holy symbol, "The people can easily be converted to others, I had a whole town ready to worship the forge father just because we took down a fort and told them too. Unless the leaders off this land can rally there people it will be lost for sure."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Yalandere sighs as he sits there looking at you. His expression saddened. "I have failed not only you but my people as well." He leans back and takes a full breath. "I will start with revealing who I am. My real name is in fact Yalandere but millenia ago, the people of this land called me Daiga."

Knowledge Religion Check DC 10 can be attempted untrained:

You know that Daiga is some false god of the Sarangave region. Many churches and monasteries have banned civil worship of this individual and have labeled it heresy to do so. If, there are any individuals pretending to be this figure to influence others, they are to be arrested and turned in for reward. This Daiga has not past the test of god hood. Therefore is not worthy of worship.

Yalandere continues. "Many years ago my colleagues and I came to this land when it was still fertile and beautiful and the people were still primitive. We set up shop here to carry out our alchemy and magic studies in peace. Years past and we used our abilites to aid and educate the local populace. Soon they began to see us as gods because they themselves were not capable of any form of magic. Now, it is imporatant to note that this land wasn't a desert at that time. The was a kingdom nearby ruled by a Tyrant named Pharox. An evil man who raided the land we were hiding in for the red stones known as Rupia. These stones are actually magical conductors and enough of them can be used with the same amount of power as a philosopher's stone. Pharox was a powerful sorcerer. He would gain great power from acquiring these stones. We had no way to fight him off. It was I who decided to use the stones and aid of outsiders to build the sudo-plain of this land to keep the stones out of Pharox's hands. The outsiders we aligned with were the genies. With their powers, and the power of the stones, we managed to trap this land in this middle plain. Just out of reach of Pharox. We underestimated his abilities however. He found a way in. This time, the genies also wanted to preserve the land, so they could use the stones of course, so they fought alongside the people of the land and our group of powerful magic users to defeat Pharox. Years later I spent a lot of time with the people of this land training them and education them. They soon began to see me as a leader. I was still magically more powerful than any of them, therefore, they saw that as god like. That was how I was perceived to be some sort of god."

Turval returns and gives each of you some tea. Talandere Continues. "Most of my colleagues weren't happy that their leader was more interested in helping primitives grow that many of them joined up with my chief protege Anubis. They turned against me and started to turn the people of this land into anubites and other monsters. I fought them and won. Pharox returned as a lich lord, I fought him and won. All this was with the aid of my colleagues and the genies help. Now my only ally left is this oracle Turval. I have lost many friends to the passage of time. Turval is still alive with the aid of his bizzare birth. I am still alive due to the stone in my eye socket. Only we two remain. The genies have abandoned me and the people of this land have learned nothing of defending themselves. It is my fault they are in the state they are in. I may not be a god but after millenia of living with and looking after these people, I have developed a resposibility to help them and look out for them. With Pharox and the anubites having returned, and all my allies are gone, I needed new allies. That was why I recruited a caravan and was very specific in the people I chose. I am sad that only four of you survived. But I hope you would still be willing to help me save these people and this land. There is still riches to be had, there was no deception on danger to reward, the actual work was just not detailed. I had hoped to bring the entire caravan here safely and then we save Aridia, and you all return home wealthy as kingdoms and nearly as powerful as gods. There are only four of you, but I believe we can still make this work. You all are a lot stronger than I had originally given credit for, so I plead for you to help me free these people of the oppression they are under."

Male Dwarf Barbarian 2 Monk 2

Arik sits stunned by what he has heard.

Will post more later. Not enough time right now. Loving this, btw!
