Speaking quietly with Melilot, Nonon explains, "I am sorry, Melilot, but with the Nightshade we don't have any complimentary tickets. However, your friend is welcome to come to the dress rehearsal here." He pauses, "And if she has any skills that would make her useful backstage, I'd be happy to have her work the show so she can see you all."

"Does that go for the rest of us as well?" he asks inquisitively.

He looks over the actors, quietly, "Within reason. And they will be removed if they prove a distraction."

Gravlax nods slowly, but his mouth seems to have a mind of its own. "Help as in 'assist' or help as in 'remove'?" He closes his eyes, shakes his head slightly, opens his eyes. "Sorry," he says. "What I meant was--"

Gravlax leans forward as though to whisper in Mathalen's ear. And kisses her cheek.

She shrugs, "The part of Ilsandra entails far less danger than the part of Larazod, but to hold the narrator responsible for injury is silly." Her voice neutral, "I'm almost in as much danger as Calseinica."

Melilot sighs, not having realized her question would cause a conversation that would drag on for this long.

look she says. if what you say is true then even now that the possibility of foul play has been raised and an investigation likely in the event of her death you should have no problems in a lawful town like this one

when the authorities use truthtelling magic you can simply let them know that you had no hand in getting her the role or if you did that you have no reason to want her dead or if you do then you genuinely believed she would nonetheless be safe and so on and then you will not be arrested even for conspiracy to endanger or failure to act or what have you and no one will seek vengeance upon you either

and as i pointed out if she does not die the questions will not even be raised at all Melilot looks bored. really it was just a simple question about safety concerns

Melilot:
Fiosa
She smiles, "Thank you for checking." She thinks, "Rev asked if I could be backstage for emergency healing between the scenes... do you think that would be acceptable 'work' for the director?"

Gozran 8/Thesing
He leads Melilot to a small cafe around the corner, orders for her, pays for her, and proceeds to talk about nothing of consequence during the lunch. Any question about himself he answers in the most glowing of tones.

Azhar:
Gozran 2
"Normally one-handed." She pulls out the weapon and she holds well, correctly. But as she goes through a few practice swings, she just doesn't have the the muscluature for the heavy blows that Azhar does.

Cassian:
Gozran 4/Janiven
She watches him get dressed, green eyes slitted slightly. When he is about half-dressed, she pulls herself out of bed, almost completely fighting down the twinges of pain from one abused part of her body. She walks over to him, kisses him once. "Very beautiful music." Her hand whispering over his skin for a moment before she turns and walks to the bathtub.

She looks over at him, right before he leaves, "Be careful, Cass." A smile, a touch of something soft beneath the hard surface. "I prefer this city with you in it."

Gozran 7/Calseinica
She looks a tad confused, "Because if people know that you work in security, you can't do your job properly?" Her eyes get worried, "Does this have something to do with Azhar impling that he knows you?"

Gozran 8/Thesing
"hmmm... oh, thank you, Lucian."

Gravlax:
Gozran 8/Arael
He looks at Gravlax, "Magic is just another force, like steel or pain. You control it or it controls you." He shrugs, "In the author's mind they were something more, but the author was widely considered a madman."

Confusion
A blush starts, right where he kisses her, a small happy sound in her throat. But when there is nothing else, her head pulls back just a tad, confusion fragmenting the near-black eyes. "Was that a 'I just see you as a friend' kiss?" Her voice low.

GM/Cassian:
Note returned by monkey:

Was planning to follow Person Of Interest to see if conversation spurred any communication with others in a conspiracy but am starting to think there is none and she is indeed so fundamentally stupid that she was genuinely hoping both that target would die relatively unassisted and that no one would notice she was trying to push target in that direction.

Vaguely hoping at this point that I am bizarrely wrong and target is actually violent demoness and that Person Of Interest is secretly celestial being or something as that would at least be unexpected.

So can meet with you if you consider more important. Please advise.

"Same to you," he says, disappearing out the door and into the city.

Gozran 7/Calseinica
"Not exactly." Cassian looks first at Calseinica and then at the wine, then back at the girl. "You knew me as soon as you looked. Rogue, you said. And you were right. I'm a thief, a liar. I'm a dangerous man. I build traps for rich people. I steal secrets for others. And when that doesn't work, I play cards." He pauses, searching her brown eyes. "No one hired me to protect you. I saw you... and I volunteered."

Gozran 8/Atenaar
Cassian investigates.

Gravlax:
Gozran 8/Arael
Arael smiles but the look in his eyes gets harder, "I wouldn't worry about the Prince of Lies himself making an appearance... Westcrown has a decidedly unhealthy effect on manifesting gods." A mixture of pleasure and pain at that comment.

She shivers as his lips press the sensitive spot, her eyes going very wide with surprise. With the downward trail her hand tightens right along with his and her free hand clutchs at the blankets of his bed. Quietly, as if trying very hard to not scare a skittish animal, "Gravlax... Azhar smiles encouragingly, makes a few minor tweaks to her technique. Nods and says, "Very good 'maya. Now I want you to consider this. Don't try to do exactly what I do. Especially since you are using a longsword, and doing it one handed, use that to your advantage. You are not using a broadsword or a jovar like mine which are primarily slashing weapons. With a longsord you can have a longer reach and use the tip and that reach to your advantage. Yes, you can learn from the way I move and how I am looking to anticipate what my opponent is doing, but I am not using just a lot of muscle and power behind my blade. When you are looking to strike with power, you want to use all of your body to generate the energy behind the weapon. It's going to come from your torso and legs; like uncoiling a spring. Here, start like this." He shows her how he wants her to stand, then moves to her and has no compunction about using his hands on her body to correct width of stance and just how he wants her feet and legs facing. "Consider starting either here, with your left hand and arm here or like this up here with your blade pointing directly at your opponent, either method is used to disguise the true length of your weapon. When you attack, you can generate more power on your traditionally weaker side from left to right by taking a step forward. Let's start with just the left forward first. Step a little forward and to the right with your left foot like this, shift your weight to the ball of that foot and pivot like this; you've coiled the spring, now you can unleash it by continuing to shift your body and momentum back to your right leg and your right arm. You can have reach" he points the sword out, "a stronger slashing momentum, or...he flips the blade over, now leading point first a potentially surprising strike over the rim of a shield from an unexpected angle." You are quick and agile, we are going to use that to your advantage to strike where your opponent least expects it, find weaknesses in his defense."

"Second direct and fast strikes and to help keep your opponent at bay or add a little distance. Step with the right, jab up like this, or twist like this."

He takes her through each one correcting positioning and balance, until he feels she has the rhythm, then moves on not trying to perfect it.

"That we will practice and it will come with time, for now, let's concentrate on the fundamentals. The basic nine attack strokes, and most importantly your defense."

and since I've already drawn this out way longer than I intended, and have no knowledge of an actual longsword and next to none with any sword...I think I'll stop now. Suffice it to say, he has an excuse to touch her and move her body, and even though he's concentrating on the training, that still gives him a thrill.

Gravlax freezes for a moment. Leans back. Carefully unclasps his hand from Mathalen's. Picks up the book. Uses a bit of wrapping paper as a book mark. Sets the book carefully away. Returns to the bed, sitting just a bit farther from Mathalen than he was before. "I don't think that was the right question," he says quietly. "I'm not sure I can answer it except by saying that was emphatically not an 'I just see you as a friend' kiss. But I don't think that was really what you were asking."

There is surprise in the soft brown eyes, but no disapproval, no anger. "Just because? Not because you thought you could turn it into something you could use?" No judgement in the question, just curiosity.

Gozran 8/Atenaar 1d4 ⇒ 3
Cassian knows a little about the Atenaar family, a minor noble family. However they are considered gauche as they went into a shipping franchise a few generations back. But he knows enough to know where to ask questions.

A round of taverns, stores, and friendly women, tells the story of an inoffensive man, eldest of five children. Rumor has it that he is courting the eldest daughter of the Rosala family. Rumor also has it that the eldest son of the Ulvauno family is also trying to arrange and union with the young lady. One of Mauro Atenaar's only vices is racing horses. (During this time Cassian also finds the homes of all the major players and the names of the immediate family. Gathering this information took Cassian about 45 minutes.)

Azhar:
Gozran 2
She listens well and attentively, moving both by his word and touch. Although she is smiling far more than one would expect from a sword lesson.

As the impromptu lesson finishes up, "So... are we going to try to sneak this beast in or just convince the dottari that we have every right to be hunting?" Maybe she is just a touch more breathless than the lesson would warrant.

Gravlax:
Gozran 8/Arael
"Ardonite." Arael breathes the word softly, one eyebrow raising, "Don't suppose you've looked into the Inheritor if you feel something is lacking?"

wait... what? 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Her mouth drops open slightly as he pulls away, nothing hiding the confusion on her own face. Nor the hurt that when he comes back to the bed he keeps both physical and emotional distance between them. She looks down, swallowing, her arms pulling protectively around herself.

She is quiet for long moments but when she looks up it is into his eyes. Not entirely sure, she asks, "You like me?" Needing that question answered but then answering his. Still looking at him, not an ounce of deception in her bearing, "I've had sex... Even once with someone that I liked." She swallows again, clearly not comfortable with having to say this, "That's... that's why I kissed you before. To see if I liked you... in that way."

She looks away for a moment, breathing, then looks back, "There is grouping in sex, but there isn't..." she swallows again. "There isn't... that feeling you caused."

Indeed surprising her, but not in a unpleasant way based on her smile, if spoken from more than thirty feet away... or possibly closer... she seems easy to sneak up on. "Hello, Rev." Considers, "If you think I'd be useful, I'd be very happy to do so... If it won't upset anyone, me being backstage." But she shakes her head, "You don't need to pay me for that. You all are my friends and you are putting yourselves in danger in hopes of ending the plague of shadows that haunt our street. It would seem I'd be in far less danger, but able to help." She smiles, "That is not something I need to be paid for."

Ailyn
Her voice light with hints of the deeper involuntary sounds that will come as his lips trail down her body. "I really do insist." There is a low chuckle as she feels the bed bump into the back of her legs but instead of falling back onto surface she sinks to a seating position, letting his hands trail up as hers trail down. Her mocha eyes look up at him as she leans forward and kisses the part of him that is right in front of her, tongue dashing out to lick her lips as she does so.

Fiosa

Rev smiles at the short woman. Depending on how good she is at reading people, she may realize that he's careful not to touch her for the simple reason that she is good, and light, and in many ways, seems quite innocent, and a part of him does not want to corrupt her, as if his mere presence could do so. "Your wish is my command." He says softly, and begins where she indicates.

Fiosa another day
"I don't see why it would. And if anyone asks, I can always pull a Diva, and say your my assistant, and I cannot possibly do my own hair, or powder my nose, or whatever it is actors throw hissy fits for. You should see some of these people. I thought I had an ego. I was utterly mistaken." A small grin, "Or I could get you a ticket I suppose. If you don't mind being in the front row, with the blood splattering, that is."

Gozran 9, Limelight Theater: Day 4 - More Rehearsal
Much the same as the day before, except that scripts are no longer allowed on stage. If you can't remember the precise wording of a spot Nonon only interrupts the run if you let it show. Delour seems more comfortable with how each of you will be playing your roles. Her narrative interludes fit the characters you are playing, although the attacks on Larazod's character do seem to be a bit more than what are called for by the play.

Nonon does give everyone a break for lunch. Either this is a sign you are doing better... or that you are so bad that the director needs a drink to continue on.

Perform checks again. Same as the last. If you take the free time offered to leave the theater let me know where you plan on going.

When his hand finds her hair, she speaks, her breath whispering over him. "I like that sound." And with that her tongue slips out of her mouth, licking around his head. Millech nods. "a yup, he only accepted the part so he could have a front row seat to see 'those fools' get ripped apart." He shakes his head, "He really should be more careful about where he says such things."

Millech looks over at Cassian, "What did he do to you?"

The break for lunch is an hour.

More rehersal, this time - no scripts
two rolls, highest counts
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 acting (not counting any bonuses for being under Nonon's direction)
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 acting (not counting any bonuses for being under Nonon's direction)

Apparently Rev has memorized the entire script.

Cassian winces a bit. "You have a web, songbird. Otherwise I wouldn't be taking leave of my senses telling you as much as I did." He takes another drink. "You don't like wine?" he says, changing the subject.

Gozran 8/Millech
"He wanted to hire me to engineer a horse-related accident for someone he claimed insulted his family. I poked around a little. Turns out that 'insult' was them attempting to marry someone Thesing's people had their eye on." Cassian shakes his head. "He also insulted Calseinica, and I'm enough of a sucker to let that bother me."

She moves a little closer, her hand touching his as gives the book to him. She listens attentatively for as long as he reads.

Fiosa another day
She looks at him, "I need a ladder if I'm supposed to powder your nose." Absolutely serious. "But probably better for me not to be in the audience... if I need to heal one of you I might have to run on stage... that would probably be frowned on. And disruptive."

Ailyn
Her eyes move up to look up at Rev's face, a vixen's smile on the lips still so close to him. Her body undulates slightly under the pressure of his hands. When his hand finds her hair, she speaks, her breath whispering over him. "I like that sound." And with that her tongue slips out of her mouth, licking around his head. Then, when he is wet, her head moves forward, pulling him into her mouth. Sucking gently as her tongue continues to circle and tease.

Fiosa

He frowns almost imperceptivly as she touches him, shoots a glance over to where the cook bustled off too, to check if she's coming back out with a frying pan. The frown disappears as he reads and gives the stories depth and personality. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 acting roll.

Fiosa another day
"And a powder puff" He laughs. "I'll figure something out" A thought. "If you want to come by for lunch sometime during rehearsal, maybe you can take a look around, see how the stage is set up, and so forth. Perhaps you could talk you fabulous cook into making something to eat. I'm happy to pay for supplies and her time, if you want to come by."

Ailyn
His eyes close and open in quick succession, reacting to the pleasure. "Mmmmm." The fingers tangled in her hair, pull with precise pressure at a handful, eliciting pleasure for her, and a little bit of control on his part. The other hand gently touches her neck, her upper back, runs over her shoulders, to again find her breasts, and toy with them, teasing her.

Cassian:
Gozran 7/Calseinica
She shakes her head, "Never had any. When I was little I had a teacher named Ms. Horsfall," Still close she smiles at him. "She was the first one to teach me to sing and on the very first day she did she had me stay behind."

"I was so certain I was in trouble for something. Instead she told me that I had a really pretty voice and that if I enjoyed it and practiced, I could be a very good singer. But, and she got very serious, if I didn't want to risk ruining my voice, I had to be very careful about what I ate and drink." She puts a finger on his goblet, "No alchol."

Gozran 8/Millech
The old man nods. "He misjudged you, didn't he?"

Curiousity, "What are you going to do about it now?"

Rev:
Fiosa
Rapt attention and the time passes far more quickly than it seems.

Fiosa/let's call it gozran 7
She grins, "I actually... well, I wanted to support you all... I wasn't sure if it would be disruptive." She shakes her head, "Point being, Cook already has what she need to make a lunch for you all... how many other people are there that need food?"

Ailyn
She teases and plays with him in her mouth for a long while then, almost suddenly, she moves so that he held deep inside her, swallowing to massage the part of him in her throat, her tongue still playing around the base of his member.

What the hell was that? You are a genius!" he stops, placing her back on her feet. Making sure to keep her upright. He bends down, kissing her lightly on her forehead. "That..." he pauses for emphasis, "was almost as beautiful as you are." he smiles down into her eyes his feelings and genuine admiration showing through with a burning intensity.

"Well none of us need lunch. Well, maybe me, I think I weigh less than Melilot." He grins at her devilishly. Then he lets her know how many people are there total, how many are actors, how many back stage, and so on.

Ailyn
"Woman... you... are evil." He says contentedly. Strokes her hair away from her face, looks down into her face, watching what she is doing for a very long while. Very interested in her wicked tongue and talented throat. "But now it's my turn." He grins at her, and very reluctantly pulls away, because she is making him feel fantastic. His hand stays in her hair, holding her in place by it's length so she cannot just follow him and continue.

He sinks to his knees so he is at head height with her as she sits on the bed. And he begins kissing her lips, his tongue invading her mouth, his hands preoccupied with caressing every inch of her that they can reach. Alternatly kneading flesh, stroking skin, pinching nipples.

Although he is not entirely solid on his lines, Antonio has the essence of the character down. And being freed from the script allows his voice to project better.

At the start of the lunch break, Antonio goes to Rev, Azhar, and Melilot in turn, asking each something in a quiet voice.

Rev, Azhar, Melilot, DC 15/Perception:
"There is a half-elf cleric of my acquaintance who has offered to enchant the flensing knives so that cutting free the Flukes of Asmodeus will be less painful. If you will entrust me with this, he can have them finished before the performance."

Gravlax sighs at the question. "A little of both. Having rules to follow makes things easier when one is uncertain. But I never cared for the predestination of prophecy. 'Things are foreordained' is too convenient an excuse for bad men to do bad things and blame it on their gods."

Looking at Melilot, Nonon's voice, quiet, which is never a good sign. "Backstage somewhere there should be a bucket... Perhaps with that you can carry a tune."

"Maybe."

He certainly looks like her performance truly pains him.

Azhar:

She epps as he, literally, sweeps her off her feet. She blushes as he gazes down at her, unused to the lack of her screening bangs. She shakes her head, "It wasn't anything... just a little confidence that we really weren't doing anything wrong. But not able to pull away from the intensity in his eyes.

Gozran 8/post Dry Run
Yuuki lifts one fine eyebrow, the disapproval in the action ruined by the amused smile perking up her lips. "If you must."
The door closes and is reopened a little while later by a smiling Amaya.

Rev:
Fiosa
She stares at him for a moment, a 'are you kidding me' pout almost on her face. A beat, a pause, and then she smiles. "Thank you."

Fiosa/Another Day
She smiles, nods. "Fresh bread." Seems more promise than question.

Ailyn
Her tongue teases him for as long as possible as he pulls away... since she is unable to continue thanks to the pressure of his hands in her hair.

She makes a slight moan as he starts to kiss her, her mouth still tasting slightly of the chocolate from desert. And the moan, deep in her throat, intensifies as he plays with her, her eyes mostly closing to let the feel of his hands magnify in her mind.

Cassian:
Gozran 7/Calseinica
She nods her head in agreement to the 'no wine for you'. Then at the question, she nods, looking sad. "Almost... I mean she fell out of a carriage not off a horse... but yes. I remember how worried everyone was when the director first told us about the accident... And how relieved the theater community was when she was treated by an Abdarian cleric so quickly." Small smile, "And I felt horrible because she was badly injured... but I got to play the part..." her voice dropping, "and it felt so wonderful to get to perform instead of just practice."

She looks up at him, "I'm not so good myself."

Gozran 8/Millech
The hunchback clicks his tongue against his teeth. "What do you want to do?"

Gravlax:
Gozran 8/Arael
Arael nods in agreement. "This is why we prefer having good laws to follow." Curiosity, "How is everything else going?" He shrugs, "I understand why... but being stuck here makes me feel like I can't do anything to help... What do you all need to continue the goal of freeing this city from the throne?"

Sunset
There is just the slightest disappointment, deep in her eyes, but she nods. "I like the colors that are in the sky when the sun disappears... even as transitory as they are." And when Gravlax shifts to be able to look out the window, she moves so that she is at his side... Again the heat of her body next to his.

Which direction (N,S,E,W) do the windows in Gravlax's apartment face?

Fiosa:
very possibly Melilot says. if not you will likely be welcome if you can sew have any experience moving props about behind the scenes
