LOOT DISTRIBUTION VI - Delvehaven: Basement and Beyond
Starting with disputed loot most expensive to least:
hand of the Pharaoh of Nagas - luckstone [stone of good luck] (10,000 gp)
Cassian (10,367 gp) v Zsz (11,075 gp) <- Cassian (and added to his loot total)
wayfinder (250 gp)
Cassian (20,367 gp) v Gravlax (10,570 gp) <-Gravlax (and added to his loot total)
OK. For sanity's sake, though, I will simply list the upgrade on my character sheet rather than removing the whole thing and thn putting it back, and keep in mind when I have it and when I don't.
Hmm ... I actually have enough to buy new, if that's possible, if it's going to be a pain all around otherwise. Hmm.
By the way, don't know if you had further plans for them, but given that we're presumably soon to be starting a new module and all, I wouldn't mind heading towards wrapping up some of my older flex threads so that I can move on to new ones.
Just for the purposes of helping you decide if you want to buy new things vs upgrade existing items, there will be a significant two-three week break from the main storyline.
If you want to forward sub-plots during this time there is a chance your items will not be ready, but beyond that... unless what you are going for is the 35k range, you should have it before the main plot does something interesting.
And I will be doing the downtime post this evening.
Please let me know if you intend to read the book you picked up in the Delvehaven or pass on it.
... as expanding the subject matter to a general statement on the mortal condition.
I apologize for taking us all serious. Although at some level, all statements on the mortal condition reduce down to The Princess Bride, I think.
Last weekend I saw Randall, and he mentioned that he'd read through the Jade Regent boards up to a certain point ... and admitted that between moving cross country, starting up a new job, and preparing for a wedding, he probably truly didn't have time to play last year.
Question - this would be very slightly retroactive but I thought it might be OK since it hasn't come up yet in game.
Just realized that conversation with Tarvi about her new skills actually occurred quite some time before I got the headband upgraded. Would it have been possible to ask for her assistance with that? Know she wanted to try out some stuff first, but a good deal of time has just passed.
(Even if I need to get a scroll to help lower the DC, that would still save me a *lot* of money, which I'd be very happy about IC and OOC. :) )
She would be happy to help. However, it would have to be after Cassian's belt which means she could start on the 16th and (with Tarvi's help) they could have it done on the 22nd.
If that timeline works for you, then yes, you can upgrade from +2 to +4 at half-price. (Her spellcraft is happily high enough where she can take-10 on the check.)
extreme meta-gaming misgivings over jumping to what is probably supposed to be the last portion of this chapter, but this'll probably shorten things significantly. one way or another.

You think we were supposed to go after the Mayor first or something? Like another Delvehaven thing where we're intended to act in the play to get to the party to break into the dungeon to get the documents to find the dead pathfinders to tell us how to get into the house that Jack built?
No. More along the lines of gather information from several different sources to have more of an advantage when fighting the big bad. There seemed to be at least a few other threads to follow up on, like finding whatever information there is while investigating the so-called curse or whatever it was that the Mhartis family has been under or their association with the Arvanxi, or like you mentioned tracking down the Mayor himself and finding out what he knows, or the line that we will find out about the next day with the missing daughter of another family. seems to me like there are other options on the table, before reaching the final goal. Azhar is up for either option you guys decide on. I just know skipping to the end of a module without passing though what lies in-between can often be fairly dangerous. It just seems to me that a supposedly still chained pit-fiend that can destroy a manor and create a 20' deep glass like crater is still plenty strong already.
Hm. Well, I'll err on the side of playing in character. I can't see Zsz pursuing what sound to her like side issues while Town Blowing Up unless the way in actually proves to be completely impassible without more information / special key / sekrit password or what have you.
NOTE TO GM: There is now official errata regarding White Haired Witch abilities. For the most part, it is as we have been playing it, with the constrict, trip, and pull abilities being errata'd to swift actions rather than free actions. However, the "strangle" ability has specifically not been changed. Unlike the others, it was not originally listed as a free action, but an automatic effect, as follows --
Strangle (Ex): At 8th level, when the white-haired witch’s hair is grappling with an opponent, that creature is considered strangled, and cannot speak or cast spells with verbal components.
And likewise, unlike the others, it has not now been errata'd into a swift action, but was left as it was. Should we play it as automatic from this point on? (This is, in fact, the first time I've tried to use that effect, which is why I looked it up and noticed the change.)
If so, Zsz will also do a nonlethal constrict as a swift action if the halfling remains conscious after the initial grapple damage:
