Not a problem; take all the time you need. Did you get your car situation worked out?

Male Andoran Armsman 6

I'm not going to have access to the Internet starting tomorrow and through the weekend because I am heading out of town for a wedding. Please DMPC me if necessary, or Jasmine can run my character. Either way is fine with me.

I'll be back Monday!

Have fun at the wedding and we'll "see" you when you get back.

My notes/thoughts on Concentrating on a Weave.

The rules in the book are that Concentrating on a Weave is a Full Round Action. That being said, you're almost completely limited in what you can do if you're maintaining a weave. I've been generous with this with some of you as using Flame Sword would basically not work as written. There is errata out there for this specific instance but it still doesn't address the overall problem in my opinion.

Here's my new ruling on Concentrating. It counts as a Move action to concentrate on a weave. You still must follow all of the multiweave rules for maintaining multiple weaves but it now means that if you're holding a Shield on someone for example, you're not then frozen in place while you hold it. You could even get into melee with a held weave, aka Flame Blade and still be able to attack. If you have a high BAB that grants multiple attacks as a Full Round action, then you would need to tie off the flame blade to get them all though.

Part of the reason this is being brought up is that in the upcoming encounter, one of the sister's is maintaining Serviana's Shield and that will have to be their Surprise Round action.

Male Andoran Armsman 6

And that is why I chose not to play a caster! Way too complicated for my tastes! Haha!

Actually, I think the WoT rules aren't too bad for the most part, but they could definitely use a good rewrite with Pathfinder in mind. Problem is, it would take me ages to do so, and I'm not sure I'd do a good job of it anyway.

And I'm back... I've been following along, but I've been pretty sick, so I haven't really found the energy to make a post. I'll try and have something later today or tomorrow.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

glad to have you back...especially since you gave me your sickness. :(

I've always thought of doing a full WoT conversion to Pathfinder but I don't have enough fans on the series in my area to really make it worthwhile. Or at least to really put the time in that it deserves.

Sorry you guys are sick, it's the worst for sure.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

a conversion attempt...

As it happens, I've been taking notes about things that I think could use improvement for a possible conversion...maybe I'll get working on it someday.

Jonasty, I think that your Concentrating fix sounds reasonable.

Hey all. I've got massive work deadlines this week and this head cold is still kicking my a$$. Just giving the heads up that my posting might be sporadic much of this week. But this game is far from over!!!

It's not a big deal, Jonasty. Feel better, I hope your work gets less busy!

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

Feel well, getting sick before deadlines is a major headache.

So I’m back in action. Work is crazy but slightly less so and more importantly, the head cold is finally on its way out the door. As far as my latest IC post, based on saves only some of the remaining Whitecloaks will even get an attack. After that (aka Round 3) I figure they will all be subdued one way or another and the combat is done so I’m hopping off initiative. I didn’t want to drag this out for those not involved and this was a pretty one sided fight from the beginning thus my glossing.

With Jasmine's comment I thought I would just prod the board here and make sure everyone is still around and checking the boards. I know there's been some "down" scenes recently and things have been a little slow. Everyone still alive and monitoring?

Male Andoran Armsman 6

Still here. Sorry about not posting but I've been extremely busy and Jed would prefer to leave most of the talking to Jasmine anyway. If he opened his mouth, I'm sure things would not go so well!

Anyway, I've been reading but since I haven't had much reason to post, I've used that time to catch up on some work.

No worries. There isn't an expectation that everyone has to post a response to everything, there are plenty of times where your characters would be kind of the silent type. That's why I prod the boards for a "view check". As long as people are keeping up with the game and are available when I need them, like for combat or when conversations are specifically geared towards them, that's fine.

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

Still preset :)
Saw no reason for Litheene to respond specifically to what was happening. Also kind of busy season, thou in the coming days I'll actually be available a lot

I'm still here as well. I've been dealing with a nasty cold, but I'm still good for playing.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

im here. waiting for the time to burn the boat as it floats downriver, i mean up river. lol

Heads up, real life is kicking my ass again. Gonna be busy for a while. Game is still on but my updates will be less frequent.

I'm working on a somewhat large update. I hope to have it posted in the next few days. Gonna be glossing over some stuff, including a good chunk of the travel to help move things along. As we've seen in the novels with the travel times before they learn Traveling, there are certain times where you kind of just want people to get to where they're going and I don't want to hit that with this game either.

So I don't know exactly when I'll have it up but it should hopefully be soon-ish.

That sounds good to me. Glad to know you're still alive, Jonasty, and that real life hasn't completely kicked your ass!

It's still trying, believe me.

We're back!!!

Yay!!

Alathea's post brings up a good point. Just to check, is there anyone who doesn't want to go to Salidar? (This isn't to say that you're done with the game!) I'm not opposed to splitting things up if that's where the story takes us, obviously the novels do much the same thing. There is of course inherrent risk in slicing up the game that things break down for one or both of the new "groups" but obviously there are different paths for each person and if you want to branch off, I'm not opposed to that.

This really applies to Pace and Jasper at this particular point as the rest of you either are directly tied to the Aes Sedai, or you're affiliation-free for the most part and don't have to worry either way. But as Alathea's post correctly indicates, the Asha'man do indeed have a choice to make.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

well, i think my posting answers that question.

Jasper, your post obviously creates a significant challenge to the game based on your actions. I'm going to need to determine how I want to go from here. This may or may not involve some DM intervention on my part.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

i know. i didnt want to run the risk of splitting the party and having a side adventure that sputters out, plus i didnt want to walk into the lion's den without some form of protection. A male channeler walking into a aes sedai stronghold, he will be lucky to walk out alive but unable to channel.

If this throws a wrench in your game, i can recant the statement and do something less insane.

If you could recant Jasper that might be best overall. Also something to keep in mind, unless anyone decides to tell them, the Aes Sedai (or anyone else for that matter) won't know you're a channeler just by looking at you. In this particular instance it would be safer to hide than think a shield of titles and declarations would save you. Accidents do happen. ;-)

Also I sent you a Private Message, whenever you get the chance please check it out and get back to me.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

sent you a message, DM.

Responded.

As a reminder, Pace, Fiallain, and Ryland are all in the inn as well. You guys may do what you'd like. Don't want people to feel like they can't contribute. If you don't want to or have anything to add, that's fine no pressure. I just don't want people to feel like they have to wait till this is over.

I have updates a plenty in my mind but I'm gonna give a little more time for other people to respond to whatever they'd like.

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

Just wanted to say - this campaign is getting awesome by the post :)

Female Domani Wilder 1/Initiate 4/Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah 6 Defense 18 (Touch 18, Flat Footed 10) HP 66 / SV Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +16 / Perception +17

Couldn't agree more.

I'm glad everyone is enjoying this. As mentioned in my recruiting, Wheel of Time is one of my true passions and I'm glad I've got a group that is enjoying that. It was the big reason why I was more concerned about knowledge of the novels rather than RPG experience when I was looking for people. I would want people to be able to read this game thread and think that it was something Jordan could have conceived.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, thanks so much for enjoying the game and I as a DM am having just as much fun running it for everyone.

As always, I am very impressed with the quality of the writing/storytelling in this campaign. Well done DM Jonasty, and to the player characters as well.

Thanks, Lyrwyan! And thanks Jonasty and my fellow players as well!

Thank you Lyrwyan. It's nice to see that an outside perspective can enjoy the game, in addition to those within the game.

Just fyi, I'm finally meeting up with my RL game group tonight after a long hiatus so I've been busy prepping for that. I should have the next update ready by tomorrow afternoon, if not earlier. I do like and approve all of the self-directed posting I'm seeing now though, so keep up the good work.

Also Pace, I haven't seen you on the boards in what appears to be a few weeks. Could you please chime in here or post something IC so I know you're still around?

Should Pace not respond or say he's dropping out, just a heads up that at this point I won't actively seek a replacement player. We've got a good sized group already so we're not hurting for balance or completeness. If someone happens to see the board and requests to join I won't immediately turn them away either.

Litheene, good catch in the game thread. Yes, Jasmine is a member of the Green not the Blue. That was an oversight and quick typing on my part. Just assume it was Green in the post.

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

Glad to help. BTW, can you please answer if I've managed to find books, and describe the situation with them (which sister has them)? It will effect my actions in regards.

So work is a bit crazy for me this week. Should have updates somewhat regularly but just a heads up if you're getting impatient.

As you are all aware, a lot of this game is based around what you guys want to do, trying to have you be living characters in the world rather than have you do dungeon crawls or fetch quests. Of course I also want you to really be a part of the story from the novels, as seen in the Salidar section, which I'm really excited worked out the way it did.

All that being said, I've ironed out the next few points of the game and just FYI, I can't stop grinning ear to ear. :-D I'll have the update posted soon-ish and sorry for the tease. I just had some things lock into place in my mind for the game and I had to vent my excitement.

Sounds good, Jonasty. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've come up with!

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

would it be possible to for Jasper to have learned 1 or 2 new weaves while at the Black Tower?

Possibly. What weaves?

And to save time, make your Weavesight checks for each weave you're looking for, if I do allow them.

m human, Andorian Asha'Man

could i take 20? its a nonstressful event

If not, then here are my dice rolls.
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19

Weaves id like to learn

(the long shots)
detonate, found in the netbook age of illusions, p 69. nudge nudge, wink wink.
wall of flames found in under the dragons banner, p 80

or
immolate
Master Ward

i figure id offer a couple more and see what you think.

DM Jonasty:
I'm a little confused. Cairhien (In Cairhien) and Caemlyn (In Andor) are quite a bit more than a few hours apart. They are like days (a week and some?) apart by horseback. Did the portal take them to Cairhien or Caemlyn?
