Ouch.. that may have affected previous battles.. but we are not going to retcon all that, just glad its fixed!!
Rolvark, I take it that you did not intend to stand within the afore mentioned "roaring hot, crackling fireplace"? lmao.. moved your token.
Dean: That would be just less than a double move
Guinfa delays
Dean rushes into the room, challenging the scoundrels and charging his sword for combat.
The Aspis guards keep close, with the red cloaked enemy striking at Dean, then the Blue cloak stepping forward into the fight as well. Both give mighty swings of their warhammers, but neither are able to connect!

Pazacku moves into the room along the books shelves and concentrates on the three rival agents. He grasps his holy symbol in one hand and motions with the other while saying a prayer in tien. Then his eyes glows a radiant white has he tries to sift through and locate evil auras.
Standard Action to detect evil, first round, so just looking for the presence or absence of evil

"The only thing you will remove is your burden of knowing Skagni's location.", Malik speaks threateningly as he steps forward and hurls a torrent of water in the direction of the apparent leader.

I completely forgot to add Shilak'ho into the tracker!!! Please, accept my apologies.. this was completely unintentional! At least I caught it now, and you didn't miss your turn or anything!! Initiative of 5 puts you right above Vermund.
Pazacku moves into the room, his eyes changing to bright white orbs as he casts his spell.
Malik sends a jet of water across the room to land solidly on the robed man.

Shilak moves into the room, gracefully executing a throw of his dart.. but it jerks back too soon, leaving the man unscathed. He contemptuously reaches into his robes to pull out a stoppered vial, and with one smooth motion he flicks the top off and downs the drink. Almost instantly, his wounds begin to close.
"Kill them. Spare my pets.. but kill them quickly" he instructs his guards. They leer at you while gripping their weapons tight, eager to spill your blood.

Dean too, is feeling the effect of the heat after so long spent in the cold.. his blade clangs off of the flagstones of the floor.
The red cloaked agent keeps engaging Dean, while the blue cloaked enemy shifts left to engage Shilak'ho. The hammers rise and fall in unison, red bouncing off of Deans armor, but Blue landing a terrible blow on Shilak'ho. Luckily, the reptile man is able to turn just enough to minimize the damage!

Nothing matters but being able to sleep as he finish talking, Guinfa sends a colorspray toward Verdunt and the blue thug. Will save DC 15
The destiny isn't willing to allow Verdunt pass it so easily and Guinfa uses his Quibble ability on him reroll a D20 to a creature at 30ft. DC 15 Will save if unwilling. Curse effect.

Dean: You just barely made the DC! He is casting [i]Summon Natures Ally I.
Shilak'ho drops his dart in favor of his sword, and swings at the man in front of him. The man dodges the first swing, but catches the second right through the chest. He stares at Shilak'ho in wonder.. blinking slowly.. obviously just barely alive.
Guinfa decides to try and end the battle with magic.. the blue cloaked thug drops where he stands, but Vermund just barely breaks free. Guinfa, annoyed now, sends a mental suggestion to the man trying to break his force of will. This, unfortunately, is easly rebuffed! The man continues his casting.

Dean calls out a warning to his team before laying into the enemy before him, drawing a deep wound across the mans arm and eliciting a sharp cry of pain.
Although Vermund's will held out at first, he eventually succumbs to Guinfa's greater stamina in the contest of wills. He drops to the floor, unconscious.
This round
Pazacku swings again, but is unable to connect this time.

Rolvark takes out the remaining guard with an arrow to the throat. The room becomes suddenly quiet after the fierce din of combat.. broken only by the snoring of the two enemies on the ground and your heavy breathing.
Pazacku |
"Lets secure these two and see what we can find on their belongings. Once the wake up, we can see what they know" Pazacku starts to tie the two sleepers together. And waits for them to wake up.
Once they wake up, "This could have been handled with out bloodshed. Now where is Skagni"
Guinfa Mlumbi |
Once Pazacku has finished talkin, Guinfa joins to threaten them
Don't take us wrong. Not having kill you before doesn't mean we're not going to do it if necesary, it just mean we need you alive to answer my friend's question.

But we can be convinced to not do it, of course. Even of let you go free, if you willingly answer ourquestions
GM DevilDoc |
Guinfa completely intimidates the men, leaving them blubbering over themselves, begging you not to kill them. "That old oaf?" manages the fighter. "They brought him in as a slave.. Through that door, there's the lot of them all waiting to be shipped out! We kind of deal in a little bit of everything here, that's what Caggrigar wanted when he set up this post. Melkorka Skur has been running it, but she and all the "Good Agents" left to go traipsing around looking for the Keep of the Huskarl King. They can have it though.. freezing their butts off and dodging those nomad tribes.. the "Mammoth Lords" are some people you don't want to mess with! Worst savages in the Northeast, they are! Real barbarians!"
Dean Drake |
Dean shivers listening to Guinfa speak. Never cross that guy. Ever. He sheaths his sword after combat, and stands a bit too close for comfort to the captives. "Wait, so what does this have to do with Pathfinders?" Dean asks, genuinely confused at what the post has to do with the betrayal of the faction to the lodge. "And what is the Keep of the Huskarl King? Is there..." His voice, changes with a slightly higher pitch, eyes gleaming. "...Treasure?"
Is it just me, or is it a bit confusing? Or do I just need to re-read up all that's happened... One of the problem with PbP games, if you commit too much you might just forget..
GM DevilDoc |
Longer post coming tonight.. but to answer your OOC, these guys are too low level to be involved in the rest of the plot.. they just know that they got left to hold the fort so to say. That was the emphasis on the "Good Agents". There are reasons to go to the Keep (Other than just a hook for part 3).. that will somewhat be explained tonight.. after I have had some sleep, and some more to come after you find Skagni.
Malik Rimeclan |
Malik comes closer to the conversation, and zones out after Guinfa extracts the information from what is left of the combatants. He stares at the ceiling for a while, then snaps out of it: "I guess it depends on what you consider valuable. What do we do with the three of these, however?", he points at the men on the ground.
GM DevilDoc |
As it pertains to this scenario, I believe that this is still early enough that the reasons that this organization is attacking the Pathfinders still have not been revealed (And I have yet to find out myself). I have no way of giving you the answers that you wish, and outside of the personal motivations of the individuals within the scenario, I have no knowledge of the wider motivations and reasons for the actions of the lodge as a whole. Runa was a mid level leader, and was not much involved with the little folk here. Read the spoiler at the bottom of this post for a slight reminder of what we know about her place in the hierarchy. As for the actions of these individuals... We shall soon see.
The druid looks to Dean and answers this time. "What does this have to do with the Pathfinders?" he exclaims. "Skagni may not have been a Pathfinder, but he was working with you, so he had to go. He was just about the only presence you had in the area, so the bosses said to take him. Then we burned the village and killed everyone there and made it look like the Pathfinders did it. We set out a bunch of wayfinders so that the few survivors would know who to blame!" he finishes with a shrug of his shoulders. "As for the Keep, Melkorka and Caggrigar are seeking the Keep because a huge clutch of White Dragon eggs were found there, and Melkorka and Caggrigar want them. I don't know what else might be there, but I can guess that the eggs won't make your lives very easy once they hatch and the dragons are trained!"
Rolvark the Wanderer |
Rolvark looks disgusted as the group goes through the documents
"If they wish to oppose us, then just attack us. Surely there was no need to harm the innocents. And now I doubt we can really leave them for the authorities...we better check the rest of this building thoroughly to see if there's any more of these scoundrels about"
Shilak'ho Ajagar |
Shilak hisses in anger. "I am ssstill new to the Pathfinder Ssssociety as an emissssary from my people, ssso perhapsss am not as committed to itsss caussse as yet. But to ssslaughter the innocentsss. No endsss can jussstify such a means..." He shakes his head and this revelation and replies to Rolvark, "Yesss, we ssshould do that."
GM DevilDoc |
So are we "ending the threat" or leaving them tied up to return to later? If we are moving on, the door is northwest of Dean. I have opened the map.. please move your tokens appropriately.
Pazacku |
next to buy list is manacles.
"They are bound, and I am not in favor of killing the mislead people who may redeem themselves. Gag the magic user so he can not use spells. Let us move on"
Pazacku takes lead down the hall way katana drawn.
Malik Rimeclan |
Malik lets out a hearty chuckle at the thought of these misconducts training dragons, but keeps quiet during the conversation. He merely nods his head when Pazacku suggests they carry on and does so. He stands next to the shelf and semi-politely gestures towards the door.
"After you..."
Dean Drake |
Thanks for the extensive info GM! If was enlightening.
"Not a fan of dragons really, but maybe the eggs sell well on the black... I mean maybe we can put them to good use. In the name of the society of course." Dean makes another unnecessary comment. He pays no attention to how the party would like to deal with the captives, but he does give them a stink eye showing them the "slice the neck" motion without saying a word while no one is looking.
Dean decides to follow Pazacku's lead drawing his sword walking right behind him.
Shilak'ho Ajagar |
Shilak also follows along closely with his vicious-looking sword drawn.
GM DevilDoc |
As the team begins to file through the door, Pazacku suddenly disappears from sight as the floor tips up and dumps him into a hole!
DC 20 Reflex save or take Falling: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 dmg.
If failed:
Peering over the edge of the trap, the team can not see the Tengu.. it seems that after a 20 ft drop, this hole is FULL of dead insects of every shape and variety from all over Golarian. All that can be seen is a raised lump, presumably under which is the intrepid paladin.
The hole is 30 ft deep, with the bottom 10 feet comprising of nothing but dead insects. Pazacku fell through the carcasses and is somewhere below the surface. You are not in danger of suffocating.. just a serious ICK response!!
If you make the save:
Pazacku jumps back as the floor beneath him opens up to reveal what would have been a nasty fall! The hole goes down 20 feet before a mound of dead insects begins. There is no telling how deep the pit really is.. but it is safe to say no one wants to go find out!
Pazacku |
reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Pazacku goes down the hole.
Dean Drake |
Dean jumps as the floor in front of him breaks through. "Whoa! Hold back everyone." He holds a motion for everyone to stop so no one else would fall in. He peers down the hole unable to see anything and just shouts. "Pazacku? Are you alive?" Waiting for a response, he turns to the rest of the group. "I have first dibs on belongings. Just saying."
Shilak'ho Ajagar |
"Pazacku!" Shilak calls out in alarm. He quickly reaches into his backpack and pulls out his rope, letting down 30ft of it. "Hold tight. I will pull you up." He turns to glare at Dean but does not respond.
In case it is needed
strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Pazacku |
Pazacku sticks a hand out of the bug pool and searches for the rope. Once found he pulls it down and raps it around his torso. He tugs three time in rapid succession to signal he is ready for them.
Just for fun, Pazacku, with gear, weighs 186 lbs.
Once he clears the bugs, Pazacku helps the process by using his clawed feet to climb out.
