one of the brawlers starts trouble and gives you all a hard time. hey these punks over here are the cause of our misery, lets humilate them.you can kill the brawlers without consequences, even though they are unarmed. If you kill them for self-defense or defense of another, then okay. If you kill a brawler for the fun of it, or after they have been rendered powerless, I'll have to make you change alignment to CN, if it isn't there already. If you kill a thug, well then, that is a different story, as you may fear the thugs willing to come back to get you or may have a good reason, but the brawlers are unarmed.
init: 8d20 ⇒ (5, 16, 19, 10, 11, 18, 12, 8) = 99 the init of each indiv brawler
init: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (18) = 19 thug 1
init: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (7) = 8 thug 2
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (10) = 12 amelia
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (3) = 6 oleander

init: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (18) = 17 selena
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (19) = 21 Licen
Licen is first
Thug 2, brawler 3, brawler 6.
Selena, Huni, amelia
all other brawlers except 1 and thug 1
Oleander
Brawler 1
I work from bottom up, right to left when counting, so brawler 8 is at the top, brawler 1 is at the bottom on the right, incase anyone decides to make decisions on who to attack and when using init knowledge
Licen Setokill |
Licen draws a handaxe and shield AC 17 and waits for anyone to approach within striking distance and then strikes them.
Throwing axe Melee attack and damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

At Oleander, according to init, in groups, though I forgot your surprise round, so you can still do something.
almost forgot, you all would have had a chance to see this danger coming, as it says you would notice this via, perception checks.
perception: 9 + 1d20 ⇒ 9 + (7) = 16 oleander
perception: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (9) = 14 Licen
perception: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (18) = 22 amelia
perception: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (14) = 17 huni
perception: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (18) = 21 selena
all who scored a 15 or higher may act in the surprise round. The enemy does not get a surprise round, this is just your last chance to do something before I go onto enemy init. Drawing a weapon is still a move action, unless you have quickdraw or would have legitmitally walked into the bar with it drawn.
surprise round, oleander, amelia, huni, selena go
Oleander Anwamanë |
Seeing trouble brewing, Oleander taps her longbow on the floor.
"I really wouldn't if I were you." she says in a loud voice to the bar as a whole.
"First scum bucket to approach gets an arrow or a sword, my choice."
intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Selena Maya |
I'll unleash a standard action channel. (I planned to be toward the middle of the bar actually but oh well). Its a DC 16 negative energy channel that affects everyone in a 30 foot radius with the effects of the confusion spell. This does not affect my allies due to selective channel allowing me to except them from the negative energy channel.
Any confused character who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes.
I only need some of them to attack each other for them all to dissolve into an attacking frenzy. Time to sit back, and watch them tear each other apart.
Oleander Anwamanë |
So if we do attack, we pick on one at a time. Actually adding confusion to a bar fight is a pretty cool thing to do.
Selena Maya |
I'd recommend avoiding the ones attacking each other, or the ones that successfully save against the Channel, to avoid breaking the confusion effect on the ones that fail the save.
Confusion is such an encounter ender
Channel Energy Damage (I forgot this): 1d6 ⇒ 1

will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (7) = 6 brawler 5
will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (5) = 4 thug 1
brawler 1 moves past licen provoking an aoo trying to attack selena hit: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (11) = 12 unarmed strike.
brawler 6 moves up and cannot get a clear shot at anyone, so he double moves.
thug moves up attacking selena hit: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (9) = 12 with his axe.
and she just barely dodges it all.
selena, huni and amelia are up for round 1
Licen has an aoo to make on brawler 1
forgot about shaken condition from intimidate, they still all fail the saves, and they still all miss
Selena Maya |
They are all confused, so iirc they should be rolling to determine there actual behaviour rather than acting as if they saved against my channel and avoided the effect.
Its a d100 for each of them, a 1-25 means they act normally, a 26-50 is do nothing but babble, a 51-75 is 1d8+ their STR Mod to themselves in damage, and a 76-100 is attack nearest creature. Any Brawler/thug that attacks a confused thug / brawler, automatically forces its target to fight it instead of rolling the d100.
Licen Setokill |
If I can without provoking an AoO
Licen will move forward 5 foot step to avoid AoO to beside Selena
Use studied target on Thug and then attack Thug with Throwing Axe
Throwing Axe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 231d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

you did take your turn 1 already, but I had to backtrack for a surprise round, which may have changed what you were going to do, so yes you hit
what: 1d100 ⇒ 14 brawler 2 act normally
what: 1d100 ⇒ 36 bralwer 3 do nothing
what: 1d100 ⇒ 11 brawler 4 act normally
wat: 1d100 ⇒ 84 brawler 5 attack nearest creature
brawler 2 gets to licen, proking an aoo from huni, plus he will get his regular attack if he wants.
brawler 3 does nothing
brawler 4 gets to selena hit: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (16) = 15
brawler 5 attacks thug hit: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (8) = 9
brawlers 7 and 8 move up and thug 2 moves up
dmg selena took: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Selena Maya |
In that case Brawler 5 will attack the closest Brawler next to him, If that Thug is also confused then it will automatically retaliate against Brawler 5 regardless of its previous roll.
Selena will withdraw backwards and let the party attack the unconfused targets.

yep right on that, he attacked thug 1, and thug 1 is confused, so thug 1 will retaliate on his turn.
Huni |
Huni performs a pair of snap-kicks at brawler 2 (assuming the first does not put him down).
Unarmed Strike
to hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 to hurt 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Unarmed Strike
to hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 to hurt 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Oleander Anwamanë |
Oleander steps forward with her sword drawn, and readies an action to strike at the first person to closes on her (unless they are obviously fleeing the battle).
readied attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 +2bab,+3 str, +1 MW, +2 Fav. enemy.
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
/Amelia Rose/ |
Using her Arcane Bond with a ruby ring.. a family heirloom, Amelia will cast her last resort. A Sleep spell that is centered on the enemy three squares directly in front of her.
A sleep spell causes a magical slumber to come upon 4 HD of creatures. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first. Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted. Sleeping creatures are helpless. Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature, but normal noise does not. Awakening a creature is a standard action (an application of the aid another action).
DoubleGold |
when another enemy gets near oleander that will be another downed enemy.
as for the sleep.
will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (18) = 17
will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (5) = 4
will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (17) = 16
will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (15) = 14
what is your save dc 16? you put two to sleep as noted sideways.
Licen is up
at Selena, how many rounds does your confusion last?
DoubleGold |
okay, so brawler moves and wakes one up, while the thug tries to attack oleander. on a different computer right now
first, must roll confusions
what: 1d100 ⇒ 45 brawler
what: 1d100 ⇒ 54 thug, actually the thug was attacked last time, by a brawler so attacking his target
hit: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (18) = 19
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 ouch to the other brawler.
Oleander Anwamanë |
Is thug infront of Oleander still standing after her readied attack? Oh well, if so the following is an attack, otherwise it is her next readied attack
Swinging her sword, Oleander shows little grace, and a lot of muscle, aiming to keep the foul smelling men at a respectable distance from her.
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Huni |
More of the same.
Unarmed Strike
to hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 to hurt 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
/Amelia Rose/ |
Amelia will take a 5' step to her right, and will use Hand of the apprentice on the thug Huni is fighting
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
DoubleGold |
okay, so selena will use murderous command on an unconfused brawler. will: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (14) = 13
okay so now the 3 other brawlers will go and the still alive thug.
1 unconfused brawler will wake the other one up.
the other brawler will try to kill his ally. hit: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (13) = 14
dmg: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
and the brawler will return favor hit: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (10) = 11
dmg: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
the thug will try to axe huni hit: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (20) = 23
and try to confirm that crit hit: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (13) = 16
good, just a hit and nothing else dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Licen is up
DoubleGold |
thug down. I'll have a hard time backtracking, so I'll do the last brawler in init then go to everyone else, I could very well see all 5 brawler getting down this round. Edit: channel energy is 1d6, don't know where the 1d3 came from, reason I had a hard time backtracking.
hit: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (7) = 8 vs huni
The rest of the party is up again, amelia told me to bot her, as soon as I check my pm, I'll put it in there.
hand of apprentice attack: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (16) = 19
dmg: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 which downs a whole brawler
damage report. 1 brawler untouched, 1 brawler with 7 dmg, 1 brawler with 4 dmg, 1 brawler with 1 dmg.
Oleander Anwamanë |
The 1d3 is because variant channelling does only half normal damage
Oleander steps forward and swats at another of the brawlers with the flat of her blade. "Try not to kill these drunks." she suggests.
attack(flat of blade): 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 3 = 18 <-non lethal.
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
