Atol bites his lip and looks to his companions. Is it time?

He hesitates and tries to focus, but his thoughts drift… It’s just another fight, not even a big one - or is it? We’ve come so far… it’s hard to even measure. Demodands! I mean - really! Are they so little now?

He thinks back to the last few years. Just weeks really. He remembers the precious gift that brought him into this mess - the cross of Dyrant’s, granted by a simple bar man. But oh what a gift. Is that really all it took? A sign from God indeed!

He waits thinking on the intervening time. He gets lost in the wonder of it all. Truly… I am blessed.

He shakes his head and refocuses himself coming back to the present. He steps up (move) and pats Glimmil on the shoulder (standard), ”Finish it Glimmil, you have the power to do so!”*

*Strength Surge(sp): +7 to any strength related task for the next round (attack, damage, CMB/D, etc.)

I didn't see anything about these being tarry, so guessing no need to roll to unstick weapons. Glimmil is AC33 flat-footed, so no hits that round.

Glimmil frowns at the lack of room once again to employ his lance, discarding it and summoning Claw-Whomper with a whoosh-pop.

With the power infused by Atol, he swings mightily at the demodand next to him.

I'm trying a new format for my cut+paste of attacks since it's getting pretty extensive. This lets me manage Cog and Glimmil separately depending on if Cog gets to attack as well. As always, Glimmil lets Cog go first, just in case Cog gets a successful trip in.

Each of the demodands claws once at Toffitt as he leaves to attack the Fey. The fey looks quite surprised as Toffitt's dueling blade cuts deeply. He manages to stumble back 5' and teleport away though.

Cog misses, but Glimmil goes to town with two hits and a crit. Each one is a bit less effective without a holy weapon though.

Slimy, not Tarry. No sticky, but they do have the faith-stealing strike. Each time Glimmil (or any other divine caster) is hit, he needs to make the DC 23 Will save vs faith-stealing strike or lose divine casting for a round.

Dyrant the troublemaker continues to harass the demented frogs.

The demodands gang up on Finneas who leaves himself within reach of both after Toffitt flees the battlefield to chase a fairy.
I don't consider the basin a hard corner, but let me know if you thought otherwise and would have acted differently.

It's not pretty as their teeth and claws rend Finneas' flesh again and again and again and again and again and again.
Besides, Atol needs to feel useful and Glimmil probably needed here too.

Ouch, that's 276 damage to Finn, or 145 overkill (130 over his negative Con).

I know at a table, as a player I'd be making the paladin's sacrafice decision after the hit the laid him low (the 38+11 on the 3rd attack from SD1) versus having the benefit of PbP and seeing all the attack rolls at once.

It's up to Chris how he'd want to handle this, but Glim would certainly activate Paladin's sacrafice if he saw Finn drop unconscious, which would've transferred that 38+11 (49) to Glimmil and Finn would've been left at 31hp.

Surely, SD2 would've continued and hit for 39+5 (44) and that would've taken Finn down to -13.

The question is if the demodand would've used his two remaining attacks to overkill Finn or he would've moved them over to Glimmil at that point (at which point Glim would've been hit for another 39).

I imagine it's in character for Atol to also fire off a Breath of Life at this point on his round, which is another 5d8+15 (20-55hp healed). With Glim's Sacrafice and assuming the demodand didn't switch targets, Finn's life would've gone to -96, and the upper end of Atol's breath of life with a max roll brings him to -41 (26 over his Con), still very dead.

I think I need a call from Chris here. Glimmil would've absolutely, at the point in time that Finneas went to -18 from SD1's third attack used Paladin's Sacrifice, not knowing what SD2 was going to do. That would borrow his swift action for the current turn, which means Glimmil isn't able to smite, which will impact my attack sequence.

I imagine Atol would be able to see if Finn was beyond saving at -96, or if the demodand switched targets to Glimmil if he is within saving at -13. I'm going to post assuming Paladin's Sacrifice was used and Glimmil has no swift action this turn regardless as I believe that's what I would've done if we were at the table and feel that's the honorable action to avoid metagaming.

I imagine maybe a hero point changes all of this, I'm just not sure how it's spent, and by who to change things (obviously 2 cheats death).

Glimmil's actions coming next post, but I wanted to get an explanation down for why he's not smiting above.

@Chris: I also don't believe Glimmil confirmed a crit last round, as he confirmed vs AC13 (hey, it's his fourth iterative so it's at -15 and he rolled a 2!).

Glimmil makes a desperate attempt to save Finneas as he glows with holy light and the first demodand's attack rakes across his body instead of Finneas (39 damage to Glim from Paladin's Sacrifice as an immediate action).

"No! Darn demodoodles! Attack me!"

Glimmil bangs his shield to get the second demodand's attention and frowns as Finneas is still laid low by the creature. His face flushes, he glances at Atol and mutters a prayer as he attempts to finish off at least one of the creatures while doing his best to defend himself against a shared fate.

Seeing Finn fall Dyrant *facepalms*, realizing that the again failed to protect the big man from danger. He also wonders why Toffitt went chasing fairies when the true danger lay in the room surrounding the man with the smoking eye.

Dyrant 5' flaps to W17 and targets SD1 with a withering gaze.

Retribution: (9 Rounds vs. DC27 Will) = 1/2 melee damage back at bad guy.

Atol, already standing in the door (moved to W16 last round) sees Finneas drop in front of him. Ignoring the grinning beast that did it, he immediately reaches out and tries to staunch the deadly flow.

He casts Breath of Life on Finneas trying to restart his great heart.

…and immediately follows it up with a quickened channel, careful to carve out the evil which stands before them.

Finn traded the cloak of displacement for a cloak of resistance. The displacement cloak required a standard action to activate, so instead of bought a want to hand to Dyrant when I wanted displacement. Sadly I forgot to do that. While Finneas lies unconscious, Toffitt moves in and gets several good hits in. Cog steps over Finneas's prone body and connects with one bite. Glimmil manages to hit several times, but can't quite take down the demodand. Atol brings Finneas around again who now lies on his back staring up at Cog's belly. Dyrant ensures the demodand continues to be hampered and easier to hit.

The demodand gets tired of Finneas who is now without his sword and goes after Glimmil. He hits only once and fails to confirm the critical.

Presuming the corner gives him cover, Atol also moves out of the way to make room for the gnome and his mighty steed. If it doesn't give him cover, he gets an AoO for his trouble...

He then touches Glimmil lightly on the shoulder,* ”Glimmil, one more foe for you!”
