Shackled City (Pathfinder) - GM_Chris

Game Master Chris Shannon 719

This will be the Shackled City adventure path using the Pathfinder rule set. However, the existing deities (i.e. St. Cuthbert, Pelor, Wee Jas) will not be converted to similar Golarion gods.

In character, Toffitt has a weird fondness for Sarcem, and would have loved to bring him back. Would be disappointed that Jenya didn't succeed in doing that.

Out of character, I'm not 100% comfortable having the party pay all of the costs, but I can live with it. I'd be a bit more comfortable if Dyrant paid a bit more of the total bill, miser that I am.

I think we pay the cost of the Archon, but not, of course, the headband.

I think it's a fair 'party expense' considering it is out there and engaged in combat. If it were like Angel - hidden and only providing the caster with benefit I'd be more conflicted and would side with Dr. Toffitt. However, the Archon was out fighting, healing, harming, etc. just like another party member and therefor more of a group ally than an individuals aid (like the headband).

And Dyrant and Atol do spend more than the rest in consumables for every combat which will keep us a little behind the curve anyway. Dr. Toffitt does too, but you're able to re-use a lot of your consumables. Sneaky devil! :D

Finn would like a suit of dragon full plate if there's enough to make that and another suit. Whichever belt Glim doesn't want Finn will take. Ideally +2 STR for Glim's damage and +2 CON to mitigate Finn's lower HP. The long bow will make a nice backup ranged weapon assuming the doctor can't use it. There's a new enchantment in Ultimate Equipment to make a composite longbow fire at whatever STR bonus the wielder has, something to consider. I did take the +2 ring when we found it, again to help with my survival.

Just looked at rules for dragon hide armor. It takes a lot of dragon to make the armor. The one large dragon will only make one medium sized suit of hide armor.

Atol could buy a scroll of Air Walk, communal (presuming such a thing is available). If so though, he'd want to share the cost of 1,125gp among the party. He just ponied up for a 750gp oil of Daylight and his other scroll purchases are keeping him from his long term goals (much to Chris' delight I'm sure).

Topic 1 - Save or Lose Spells

I hate them. As a player. As a GM. But, I realize didn't people like didn't things. That being said, I won't usually outlaw them, but I might even the playing field and give them to the bad guys if the players use them.

However, there are a few spells that ruined last night (at least for me) and I'm not ready to see again unless someone can change my mind. I won't allow Terrible Remorse or Unadulterated Loathing in it's original or errata form.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Topic 2 - Random treasure (for the lazy GM)

Please provide me a list of 5 items each that you would like/hope/love to find. I'm especially looking for items not in the Core book. No guarantee they'll make it in, but I'd like to be able to toss in some occassional candy you'd actually be interested in.

I'm curious about you unadulterated loathing experience. It is pretty crazy. However, I think there's more latitude with its RAW than some judges believe...

Still, I have been feeling its overpowered when my witch uses it... Fun the first couple of times, then overkill.

In terms of items...:
There's a healer's vest in Ultimate Equipment that would be perfect for Toffitt. A spiffy dueling blade would be awesome, with Agile or Keen or some intelligence. Some weird mask that's reskinned as a chirurgeon's mask would. E awesome. More boro beads...

To be fair, most GMs feel a fair amount of unadulterated loathing at the Grey Reek as it stands. So not sure the spell has much to do with that.

Also, I'll ponder some magical fun stuff tonight.

Male Human (Per +6 | Fort +15 Ref +11 Will +21 | AC 29 (f28/t15) | CMD 20)

I agree about the save or suck spells. It can ruin a game on both sides of the fence. Luckily Atol doesn't really have access to that sort of thing...

As for items, in the Ultimate Equipment there's a Cassock of the Clergy that Atol is eyeing.
The cut and color of this solemn vestment varies from religion to religion but its properties are the same. The wearer may command the Cassock of the Clergy to display the holy symbol of her deity or hide this symbol. At the most basic level, the garment functions as a divine focus. Additionally, the wearer gains a +3 competence bonus on Cha based checks to influence creatures that match her alignment or that of her patron deity. Also, the wearer may use Bless and Sancutary (DC11) each once per day and may prepare an additional orison each day. Cost 4,600gp

He's also saving for a phylactery of positive channelling. His needs are simple and group oriented. Other than that I can't think of anything he really wants.

He toyed with prayer beads just because they fit his flavor, but the greater strand is out of bounds expensive and the normal and lesser strands don't do much in the grand scheme of all things Atol. Especially considering the price. Still, if you want to dump some cash on us in a way that won't ever get sold, there's one way.

I've found players in my groups always love spider climbing.

I'll need to meditate on Glimmil's dreams of magical splendor.

He'd surely love some sort of magic saddle -- as magic horseshoes seem out of place on a riding dog -- might be GM hand-waving to rebuild horseshoes as something appropriate for Cog.

I'm sure Glimmil would like a fancy lance. Not just a mundane +2 or whatever, but special weapon property... something flashy, not just keen.

Obviously, he'd love some sort of magic spoon(s). They could do anything really.

I'll dig around... I often still pull up the 3.5 MIC (Magic Item Compendium) for fun "different" things.

Hmmm. You've earned the discount from Skie, which I believe is 10%, but I can't find that I actually posted it. Again, I'll verify in the book when I get home.

Still need to look at any expenses people have had since the last accounting, but I get a total of 4,539.5 for each party member. This assumes:

- the party keeps Zenith's possessions (no objection from Lord Vhalntru)
- replacing familiar
- reward of 20,000 (not 24,000. I forgot you are a party of 5 now)
- scroll of communal air walk
- the party keeps items as marked on the scap_treasure spreadsheet.

Busy day off. I'll try to update the party shares portion of the worksheet late tonight or early tomorrow.

Awesome. Thanks for doing this. I'm going to cancel scribing Scroll #8.

Do you guys want to chip in for Fireball, Clairaudience/Clairvoyane*2 scroll? Dyrant was going to try to scrye on the Fortress before we entered.

If valuable, great, if not that's fine too.

I scanned through things and it appears the party didn't earn much or spend much. If I've missed some purchase just let me know.

I haven't included any new scrolls from Dyrant.

I also didn't include a haversack for Toffitt. Did you purchase one at some point? And no Dex belt available. It's only a 5% chance.

Now I see Toffitt's post

The boro beads had a 3 day travel time. I've lost track, but thought the party was only back for two days.

Hmmm. PRD recommends PC wealth of 23,350 at 7th level. Party is at roughly 13,000 each in gold earned. I can probably add another 2,000-4,000 in unsold treasure. This puts party members around 15,000-17,000. Guess there's some room for some drops.
