So did no one get my joke when Morkeleb ended his Sleep spell early? Or was it just not funny enough to elicit comment? :-)

His staff gem, which tyipcally glows green with magic, had a blue tint to it when he got c0ckblocked. Blue staff.

Little too subtle, Mike. :)

yeah, too subtle for one of my jokes--y'all ain't used to it. I mean, it was an original--not even a movie quote!! Man, you're a buncha bohemians.

Male Human Wizard (Enchanter: Controller) 7 Init +5; AC=11; T=11; FF=10; HP 52/52

OK, so, group pot.

Tony, I didn't know that you didn't like the setup from the New Blood campaign. I can't recall whether you said anything at the time.

Personally, I always kinda dug it. Having the funds available for healing stuff, bribes, etc, without having to haggle every time. And I found 10% to be more than sufficient to cover most needs, while being small enough from each person to not really hurt all that much.

but please, share your thoughts.

Male Half-Elf Rogue 4/Cleric 3; Trapspotter 17; Init: 3; AC: 22; T: 14; FF: 22; HP: 41/41

I was for it at the start but I grew to dislike it. I never said it to you, because all in all it's a pretty minor quibble. I just made a mental note that I didn't want to do it that way again.

I don't understand the desire to avoid, "haggling", every time. If something comes up, we handle it.

I'm against buying healing devices--I just think it's cheeseball and annoying. Resurrection is *your own damn problem*. It is up to the individual to handle their own healing and resurrection expenses. I think it's cleaner and easier that way.

Magical Treasure is almost always obvious as to how it should be distributed, and the items that belong to the group, like say a flying carpet or the like, are likewise obvious.

Bribes, adventure prep expenses... Yes, those are shared expenses but the sort of thing we need to pool resources for are few and far between. I'd rather leave it to the individual if they need to buy a climbing kit or the like. And bigger items... Say we need to buy a scroll of flesh to stone to help out an NPC for a quest. We just buy that. There's no haggling, there's really no discussion. Group needs one to accomplish X Goal, everyone pony up. But again, how often is the best solution to an adventure issue a purchasable solution?

That being said, I play fair and I play friendly. If I have diamonds and Adam is coming up shy for a Raise Dead, I'm probably going to help him out (really would depend on how or why Odric died). That's just good sportsmanship.

Too often during New Blood, the fun either had waaaay too much money or not enough. I found it frustrating.

I'm a rogue. Soon to be a multiclass rogue. It's the playstyle I want. But I'm going to flat out not be as powerful in terms of raw mechanics as the rest of you. I live by my wits and preparation, and want my sails for that.

So I'm against the Adventure Tax, and very much for individual responsibility and being a team player. I'm not going to be a douche about this and hold it up if everyone else is for it. But in that case... Gaius gets to hold the group funds.

Male Human Wizard (Enchanter: Controller) 7 Init +5; AC=11; T=11; FF=10; HP 52/52

Well, I'd certainly be willing ot try something new. :-) I'd rather see everyone happy than most happy and one only so-so. I could be perfectly satisfied without a group pot/adventure tax. And while I don't agree on all your points (healing devices are cheesball?!?!), I do respect your desires and how you wanna play.

I'll join you, then, in a "no group pot" vote. We'll make do and enjoy it.

Tony,
You convinced me. I will apply my political sensibilities to D&D and vote in favor of individual responsibility with conscientious teamwork rather than communism and an adventure tax.

That said, can we agree on a distribution method on disputed items? Maybe opposed d100 rolls, or we simple role-play disputes.

For the loot from Verik:

Odric: 1d100 ⇒ 29

Im willing to go with Tonys suggestion for the time being. We can always come back to this at a later date if we think we need to.

Ill be the first to pitch in for a wand of healing if its cheaper then buying cure potions for healing. If anyone else wants to do that.

Male Human Ranger 8, AC 21, HPs 103/103, Int +3, (Bucho AC 22 HPs 81/81)

I agree that most magical treasure should go to the obvious character. Like the magical arrows of course go to Ferox, he can use them, and will benefit the party by having them.
However, is the price of the +1 arrows going to deducted from his share of the loot?

Hey guys, I'd like to keep track of the date more consistantly. Would you rather just have it included in posts or would you be fine with just using Obsidian Portal?

Also, remember there are rewards to updating the site.....

Male Human Wizard (Enchanter: Controller) 7 Init +5; AC=11; T=11; FF=10; HP 52/52

I have to be honest . . . I wish Obs Port had a posting site like this one. I almsot *never* go there when I can go here instead and keep track of the game and my character both. Because of that, I'd prefer the date be kept here. Maybe the date can be posted with each new day?

I can see the argument going both ways for this one, too. I'm in other PBP games where they do deduct magical treasure value from the shares. They mainly do that because the population in PBP's tends to be more traansient.

In a stable environment when turnover is low to nonexistant, I have no problem NOT subtracting out magical treasure value. I think it all comes out in the wash--and, truth be told, Morkeleb *does* benefit from Ferrox having magical arrows, so it's not like i'm being cheated.

If it starts to become obviously lopsided, we could revisit (like giving the short man/men out extra shares for a while or something), but so far I haven't seen a problem with magical treasures being separate from money (which includes sold magical treasure)

Male Half-Elf Rogue 4/Cleric 3; Trapspotter 17; Init: 3; AC: 22; T: 14; FF: 22; HP: 41/41

Weapons to be used or equipped shouldn't count against your share. Our best archer getting magical arrows is a win for all of us.

A lot will depend on the economy that Chris supports in Korvosa.

I agree with Mike. I think we should keep magic items and money separate but be flexible enough to revisit the conversation if things get lop-sided.

I can't get to the Obsidian Portal site at school, but if I'm not mistaken I put up a forum post about updating the adventure chronicle.

In a home game, session summaries are easy. In PbP, not so much. I've never liked how XP works out for doing stuf flike this, but anyone who writes up a solid summary of listed chapters can gain a Fame.

Male Dwarf Fighter 6 Urban Ranger 2 AC=26; T=14; FF=24; HP 94/94; Init+4; Per +13; +13F+11R+6W

Ok I see the sense in the loot, need before greed, and magic items not hitting your "gold" distibution, unless it gets out of hand.

I do have a question though will this be a low or high magic campaign? I am so very much out of practice for anything magic. Forgive me, but I havn't played D&D in a while, have only stuck with Star Wars, and low if not no magic gritty RPG's recently where when you find a mastercraft item your lucky, and when you die you re-roll. You will find that I don't care much about items or gold.. EXP's are my gig. I am surprised that I actually chose a character who relies on heavy armor.

Chris as far as my house situation goes, I have deducted 3 months rent for a house on the Midlands slope out of my starting gold. I picture it being near Field Marshal Avenue 1 block NE of the "HAL" on the map. The smithy I work for is located in The Heights near the intersection of Hillcrest and Hilltop Street.

As far as the fame rewards go, someone else can do them. It would "stress" me out if I had to write them, and make sure they were correct. LOL

Andoran

Male Unknown All

This may sound like a cop out, but it is a mid level magic. I remember the days when there was a celebration for the first magic item, but they are more commonplace now. How finder as a pretty slick magic item economy mechanic but I will need to have a keyboard to explain that 1

Male Human Wizard (Enchanter: Controller) 7 Init +5; AC=11; T=11; FF=10; HP 52/52

Don't worry Sandor. You will get accustomed to having access to nice armor quick, regardless of how "gritty no magic" you're currently used to! :-)

Male Dwarf Fighter 6 Urban Ranger 2 AC=26; T=14; FF=24; HP 94/94; Init+4; Per +13; +13F+11R+6W

Nice armor is only if it is iLvl 487 equiv, and it better have nice set bonuses. haha

No for real I don't care much about the items. They tend to be a crutch at times.. but that isn't to say that I will pass them up when they come my direction. I mean someone has to keep Odric's loot whorein in check LMAO <~~~~that's for not stoppin in to say hello when you were down last weekend

BTW for my first pbp this is pretty cool

Chris, I am looking at Fame costs for the various organizations. What is CPA?

Andoran

Male Unknown All

CPA is a mildly outdated acronym. It's your Current Prestige Award. Fame is the total of all the points you've ever accrued. CPA is your unspent amount.

Andoran

Male Unknown All

In case you missed it: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/sfoundercotct/forum/fame-and-presti ge-opportunities

Male Half-Elf Rogue 4/Cleric 3; Trapspotter 17; Init: 3; AC: 22; T: 14; FF: 22; HP: 41/41

So: The title Whip of Calistria is listed as, "5 Fame, 1 CPA". What's the cost? 5 Fame? Do I then need 1 CPA left to maintain it or something?

That means you can't take it until your have earned 5 fame points, but once you have, you spend 1 Prestige Point to have it forever.

Male Dwarf Fighter 6 Urban Ranger 2 AC=26; T=14; FF=24; HP 94/94; Init+4; Per +13; +13F+11R+6W

On the topic of taking mastercraft weapon or armor I have a thought or two. I'm not trying to rain anyone's parade, but think about it. If someone is being nice and giving you a gift worth more than the original contract, how would they react to you if they found out that you sold said gift because it was worth more money?

Not to get to into this to far Gaius, please take your logic one step further. I am sure they are not paying "retail" costs, lets say the Guard employs their own craftsmen and does not contract from the local craftsmen. The Guard still buys materials, the tools, the space, and the craftsmen and their laborers, the time to craft for example it's approx 3 weeks make even one suit of MW Chainmail more than likely bringing the costs up higher than 1/2 retail. Not to mention now not being able to reward their exemplary performers with a very fine weapon or amour. Which raises moral, and capabilities. Yes I understand that the last part applies to us, but think how someone who has been waiting for his "reward" for a job well done sees some upstarts take what was more than likely going to be his.

That was the roll play side of it, now the crunch side of it is a bit different. I am sure Chris has thought about it, but giving everyone an additional MW weapon or armor for 1/2 or more than 1/2 off the "retail cost" is a little bit of a power creep, which is completely fine if that is what he feels we need to succeed.

I am fine with either the gold, or a MW Axe depending on what the party wants to do.

Male Human Wizard (Enchanter: Controller) 7 Init +5; AC=11; T=11; FF=10; HP 52/52

Sandor, while you make a good point, the field marshall essentially gave us a gift certificate, not the item in quesiton. "Take the one you want" isn't the same as "here's a masterwork longsword." I wouldn't worry about it too much!

As for the power creep . . . we're talking about masterwork items here. Not game-breaking by any means! I don't know whether you've played with Chris before, but my experience is that he's very congnizant of things like that and wouldn't just throw stuff out there Monty Hall style.

Grym, it's 2000 xp for 2nd level.

We're using the medium progression. An easy reminder for how much you need is that it's always the next level * 1000. So, for 2nd level, you need 2K. For 3rd, you need 3K for a total of 5K.

Tony,

1. Look into the "Porter" for Fame use.
2. This is my first foray into Pathfinder magic item purchasing rules (as opposed to the 3.5 version.) I'm curious to see how that turns out.
3. I remember Monte Cook once running a campaign where the only magic items that even EXISTED from the core were potions of curing. Otherwise it was ONLY peripheral resources. That way even game designers were forced to wonder at what something could be.
