I made the drive safely through zombie-laden Utah and into Wyoming. Trying to have a good time but my sinus(es) are causing me trouble to no end. I however did get the meet a cousin's one-and-a-half year old and snap pictures of the towns fauna.

Pictures will be on Facebook shortly.

My son likes to put on his daddy's slippers and try to walk around upstairs. Very amusing to watch.

I had a very nice time at the retirement festivities. People were very surprised that I was there (in a good way). A bunch of us went out to lunch after and it was very nice.

The strangest part though was a conversation with one of the ministers. We exchanged a few pleasantries and then she stopped and asked, "How are you?" but not like most people ask it. It was the tone of someone who thinks something might be wrong. I don't know what it was but she ended up with a long explanation of my professional, academic, and relationship troubles. She is good at what she does...

I'm glad you had a good time.

Still, your "in a good way" has me imagining people walking up to you and asking, "What the f$+@ are you doing here?!?"

The wife and I have spoken of taking a trip by train since the kids were little. Nearby, in a small town the train runs past from LA to Chicago. We could easily make a Chicago weekend of it.

That would be cool, up through the Rockies, across the prairie, to the great lakes. It would be spectacular countryside.

Sit back relax and enjoy the world rolling past, you wouldn't have to drive.

Well since I am in the prairie right now, it would just be a trip to the great lakes. I think it is 10 hours by train but that still means we could sometime take a 4 day weekend and make a go of it. Some of the trains are night trains, we could even just go to sleep in Kansas and wake up in Illinois.

Oops I saw LA and placed you there in my mental map. I just bought "Ticket to Ride" for my iPad it's a lot of fun. So my knowledge of the US rail system is based on Blazing saddles, a bad Steven Segal movie (Under Seige II?) a few episodes of the Big Bang Theory, an old song by Benny Goodman or Glenn Miller called Chatanooga choo choo and a board game.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday! I hope everyone has an excellent day!

Scarab Sages

Woke up to beautiful weather here in Philly. It was sunny and in the high 50s. According to the phone app, the temp is only supposed to climb to the mid 60s. Sweet!

Scarab Sages

Wife and I drove separately today. She isn't sure how long she'll have to stay today, so we thought it best. That way, if she does have to stay late, I can go pick up the boy from daycare.

Game of Thrones season finale was FAWESOME! Peter Dinklage is one of the best actors out there.

Despite HBO still putting plenty of programming that annoys and/or pisses me off, I love several of the series they do: GoT, True Blood, And even the occasional episode of Boardwalk Empire.

I'm convinced they're the only ones who could really do faithful adaptations of REH's Conan stories.

Hell, all of REH's stories! They could call it REH Theater!

Scarab Sages

If only they had me as one of their execs. The programming would be so much better.

Scarab Sages

And the answer is: 9.1 PSI.

Good Morning from Silly Chilly Wyoming. Caught pictures of the state fauna and posted them on my Facebook account. Now time for breakfast with bacon.

Then a last farewell to Lee Williams.

Wish me luck

Scarab Sages

Huzzah for breakfast with bacon!

Scarab Sages

Mmmm....animal crackers.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of bacon - since the wife and boy are flying out on Wednesday, I plan to have an entire pound of bacon for dinner that night. There's no way she can stop me!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......

Scarab Sages

And yes, I know, according to the "experts", that kind of dinner might not be good for me, but I refer you to the Bacon thread, The Rules of Bacon, Rule No. 7.

Yay, it's FHDM! (Shall we start a mutual fan club?)

A fan club? For me? That's awesome! All I ask is that you go on and on about the glories of haterade (tm) with the occasional pose for product placement. What do you want me to do as the head of your fan club?

*blink*

Gratz Aeglos! Only been there once, but it was impressive

I shall henceforth extoll virtues of Haterade(tm) at every opportunity.

Freehold DM wrote:

Hmm... I think any good fan club needs a newsletter, so you are hence Editor-in-Chief of the Lindisty Ledger, to be published irregularly. :)

Beyond that, I think your duties will be minimal. (I would like a brass band to follow me around playing trumpet fanfares when I enter rooms, and I would like a cabana boy, but neither of those fit the purview of Fan Club President. :))

On vacation today and tomorrow to spend time with my oldest son who is in town through Wednesday. I think we are headed to Houston Museum of Natural History to see their newly opened Hall of Palentology.
