'So what can we see from here?' While the others climb the knotted rope, Ivar, taking advantage of the height of the cliff, and looks around the Island's horizon to see what he can see.

can he see anything interesting from up here?

You are at the very tip of the island which curves around a large natural cove. To the west are a couple smaller islands apparently part of this chain. The northern of the two seems to be covered in something other than normal greenery, but you can't really tell what. It seems gray.
To the south is the main portion of the island (past the cove), and it is fairly large rising up to a mild peak at the center.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
did we come to ground in the natural cove?
'Well that's odd, what would cause an island to grow gray instead of green?' As the others reach the top of the cliff Ivar starts to point out the view, finally asking, "Why would that smaller island seem to be gray instead of green?"

Now,now, now, who´s a good boy? Ugh that tongue is rough. Come here, into the cage, then you´ll get this snack..
She tries to guide the lizard into the cage gentily and gives him a little dried fish snack once in there.
I´m afraid i don´t know what could cause that island to be so grey either, but it doesn´t look healthy somehow. Perhaps some twisted sort of moss. Maybe undead moss?
She looks around...
Do we see anything else of interest?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
'don't think I want to attempt that cliff again,' Recovering the grappling hook, Ivar leaves his knotted roped tied to the bush. "Shall we descend the rope and head back to camp? Now that we've seen the island a little from up here we can head inland tomorrow." Ivar climbs down the rope, when he reaches the bottom he puts his armor and pack back on, ready to head back to their base camp.
Once we get to the bottom shall we go back to the camp at b.
drbuzzard, for map keeping purposes, were D2 and D3 the other two shipwrecks and C1 where we saw lizards?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ok, we've caught a lizard and more importantly seen a little of the interior of the island.' As the party returns to camp Ivar observes. "Well we have at least verified a little about the island, tomorrow we can head inland. Since we have viewed the north eastern portion of this crescent shaped island from the cliff top shall we head to the south and west?"
later, just for fun
Once the party returns to camp, Ivar sheds his armor again, stripping down to his breaches, proudly displaying his sea-wolf tattoo.Gathering one of the fishing nets he wades into the water and spends the remainder of daylight attempting to catch a few fish for the stewpot.

Lalali notices the little lizards looks and tries to show Sonja how to handle it best. She´s seemingly glad she could make Sonja happy.
Else she will try to search for some roots, berries and edible plants on the way and near the camp in the remaining time.

What do you think, should we try to reach the places we have seen from that cliff? It seems there were some more stranded ships, might be worth to check them out. And sooner or later we have to go into the jungle and also north.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
After fishing until near dusk, Ivar returns to the encampment and after eating a little begins to clean the fish so they may smoke them. Asking the other castaways, "If we are going to go into the interior tomorrow do we want to move the camp or do we want to leave it here and have to return every night. I guess we could leave a few people here with most of the supplies and a bond fire ready to light and the rest of explore the island for a few days, Any thoughts?"
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Ivar nods his head; ”So we are in agreement, we will leave some at the camp here while the rest of us explore the interior. But, instead of coming back tomorrow night, we will stay out, shall we say three days, before we return.”
Getting up he begins to bank the fire, ”Those of use who are going should leave early. I will take the first watch as I have the last couple of nights.”
Turning to the Halfling he smiles and draws his shortsword. ”Colonel, could you teach me to throw my saex the same way you do that letter opener you carry?”
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
oops I thought Ivar had done the first watch with the colonel, actually this was the watch: colonel on the first, Ivar and Malok on the second, Lalali-Re with Janzadar on the third. Friendly NPC's Aery and Jask with the Colonel, and Sasha with Lalali-Re and Janzadar?'
I love to meditate in the mornings during sunrise, i might take last watch!
I suggest we check the points of interest marked on the map up to the cliff we just have been and then turn land inward from there into the jungle, going direction down (south?) on the map?
so do you want to go back to the rope Ivar left and march from there inland? Or go almost straight south to the beaches deepest point and go inland there and then continue south east?"
'She did watch the sun rise these last couple of mornings.' Hearing Lalali mention the morning watch Ivar nods his head "That makes sense Lalali, we may as well stick with the watches we had.
Turning back to the colonel, holding up his shortsword."What do you think colonel? Can you teach me to throw this or is it not balanced right?"
Malok, the East Wind |
Malok takes his standard watch, while again sleeping in a tree..
Lalali-Re |
On the map, B is where we landed and the camp is, C1 cliffs, D1 and D2 shipwrecks? And what was A?
Lalali supposes we could actually install a rope at the cliff next to the camp and then explore the jungle from there, moving west first and then east, slowly making our way south-east. We should make sure to bring some tools, machetes and enough rope for climbing.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
On the map, B is where we landed and the camp is, C1 cliffs, D1 and D2 shipwrecks? And what was A?
it is my understanding that C1's are where the flying lizards are, that the two D's are in fact shipwrecks, but I don't know what A is.
Ivar gathers all his gear from the seaside camp, responding to Lalali's recommendation he places one of the fishing nets, one of the large canvas sheets, the block and tackle, one of the bull lanterns, half 6 the flasks of latern oil and a shovel in his pack also. Putting on his backpack and hefting his axe, "I still have the grappling hook and around one hundred and fifty foot of rope. That's a good idea, we should be able to leave some hanging so we can climb up and down." smiling he lays his left hand on his shortsword and smiles "Don't have a machete, can't seem to throw the saex but I can whack weeds with it."
Turning to his crewmates he asks Malok; "Hey Malok could you bring those flasks we found in the one boat? we might want to bring them along" then asking the rest. "So are we ready to go? Grab whatever your going to need for three days."
Turning to those who aren't going he smiles and says "We found Sonia's flying lizard, is there anything we can bring anyone else, seeing that your staying here."
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
As the team begins to get ready to go, Ivar realizing they were going to climb the cliff again starts tying knots in a fifty foot piece of the rope that he brought from the ship.
hey drbuzzard, I can assuming that there is a cliff where we set up camp on the beach that we are going to have to climb, correct?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
so it is open space from the beach where we are?
Ivar looking at the group, 'they seem ready' shrugging his shoulders as he rests his axe on one he starts out. "May as well get started, were burning daylight.' He begins to lead the team in a southern direction, keeping an eye out for trouble, trying to stay on course as he attempts to plan the route in advance so as to trek to the high ground and avoid the cliffs.

Tired of attempting to shouldering his way through the brush, Ivar, turns and smiles at Lalali, "This is going to take longer than I thought, good thing we don't have any appointments." Changing his tactic he shifts his axe to his left hand, draws his short sword with his right and starts hacking his way through the jungle. Attempting to head to the highlands at the center of the island while he keeps a keen eye out.

GM do you want to link the map in the campaign header? I think a link in the short description would be visible on all pages. That would be very nice of you.
I´m sorry Ivar i got nothing to speed this up. Wish i could though!
As for goals, i´m not sure. Looking at the map and naming a location would on the one side be a bit metagamey, on the other side we don´t know what any of those are. Have we been at C2 and F?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Earlier I said the highlands in the "middle of the Island" but I didn't look at the map. Really I just had the nearest highlands in mind so they could take a look around,
Ivar, nods approvingly at Janzadar's carefully looking about and smiles at Lalali, responding, "Yeah me too, nothing to do about it though but head to the highlands and see what there is to see."
Once they reach the higher area Ivar observes. "Lets look for clear spot to try and identify more of the island, we only saw the northern half from the cliffs where we found the flying lizard."
if we are going south east can we reach the plateau just south of C2 and north west of F?
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
It looks like there is river beginning south of "C2" on a higher area. That is fairly clear for visibility to the south and west. Can we go there and take a look around?
Once they reach the highlands, Ivar, using a rope where he can, climbs a tree and looks around.
