Despite being covered in psychedelic pollen, Nymra maintains her battle lust thanks to the adrenaline running through her veins. As the zombies close in around Nymra, she sidesteps one only to be clocked by the other. Ignoring the zombie, Nymra continues her onslaught against the wilted plant, but her sword swings high slicing through only air. The creeper's tendril lashes out an Nymra striking a devastating blow dropping the warrior into the dirt.
Nymra takes 9 points of slam damage from the Zombie and 7 points of damage from the Yellow Musk Creeper, dropping her to -4.

No plan survives a roll of die lol, how much did I miss by? Also I'm AN IDIOT!! I completely forgot about Hero Points, never played with them before. Don't suppose I can add that +4 to my attack? XD

Nymra's blade bites deeply into the hypnotic weed severing numerous minor roots and causing the plant to fall over into a heap.
Nymra only takes the 9 points of slam damage from the zombie and is still standing. Her first attack left the plant with 2 hit points. Her follow up attacked missed by one, AC 14.

Meanwhile, elsewhere...
Sasha and Neil set off towards the beach heading east in order to do some fishing and see if they can spot any passing ships. As they break through the jungle tree line, they find themselves standing atop a cliff. A ninety foot-long shipwreck leans against the cliff side and several jagged reefs here, encrusted with salt and moss. Its mast remains intact, but the sails have long since rotted away. At the bow, a leering demonic figurehead of green-caked brass provides an intimidating greeting. The cliff is about 30 feet in height.
There is a narrow path that runs down to the beach.
There is also a small rowboat on the beach with a body laying in it.
The words Brine Demon are inscribed on the bow of the ship.

Heh. A ship. What do ya know? Want to check it out? Looks like there's a path going down to the beachhead.. And a row boat! Holy crap, and a body!
As Neil looks around, he sees the name of the ship. Sasha. This is the Brine Demon. I know that name. Why do I know it?... Jask. Come on! We have to get Jask! Neil says as he hurriedly heads back to the camp.
On the way back, he explains, Jask told me that this ship was the key to proving his innocence. We need to take the risk and see what's up, and I think he should be involved. If it were me, I'd definitely want to be involved.
Back at camp, Neil will also grab the rest of his stuff and ensure they have some rope.
If Jask agrees to come along (and anyone else who wants to, but Neil will make sure that he has Jask's permission before asking anyone else and ensure they are vetted by him first), then back at the cliff side he'll start making his way down the trail.
Nimar |
Nimar sees the half giant take a nasty hit and realizes she's going to need more immediate help. He aims at the zombie he shot before and fires again.

Jask is more than willing to accompany you to check on the Brine Demon Without Nimar and Nymra, Jask will volunteer Aerys to go along with you. Aerys is just happy to be doing something other than standing around keeping watch.
Back at the clearing...
Nimar's bolt strikes the zombie again but the zombie presses forward. Both zombies move in on Nymra, but she manages to dodge quickly out of the way before they can land any blows.
Nymra is up and then Nimar.

I know that won't take place until after Nymra's turn, but hopefully it'll help her AC and keep her on her feet.

The Many-Faced GM |
Yes, you have a +2 bonus to AC against one attack from Zombie #2, the one that Nimar threatens.
Nymra cleaves into one of the zombies felling it instantly, spilling roots, dirt, and other flora onto the ground. Nimar moves to distract the remaining zombie. It swings at Nymra again but misses horribly and barely remains standing.
Finish him!

On the beach...
"I have no idea" Jask responds. "I hope he's not the rescue team." Sasha chuckles at Jask's remark while Jask heads toward the beached rowboat. "Hopefully an examination will tell me something."
Nymra Jahana |
Nymra looks around, checking for more threats. When she finds none, she falls to the ground on her back with a sigh, that then becomes a laugh.
"Nothin' like starin' death in the face ta get the blood pumpin' eh Nimar?"
She then pulls a potion from her belt pouch and drinks it.

Niel holds his hand up, stopping Jask. Hold a minute, Jask. Let me first. Sasha?
Neil gestures for Sasha to move to one side of the row boat while Neil draws his machete and moves to the other side.
It ain't the first time I've seen a dead body get up and move on this island. We'll have no surprises here.
With that, Neil moves in to ensure that the dead body is going to stay dead for Jask's investigation.
Nimar |
Nimar chuckles, then searches the zombies for any sign of who they are and where they came for.
Neil Ogea |
It's moving! Kill it!
S#~*! It's another survivor! Neil yells as he drops his blade. Jask, quick!
As he waves Jask over, Neil checks out the unconscious person.

On the beach...
Sasha moves to flank the rowboat opposite Neil when the body begins to stir. At Neil's insistence, Jask quickly moves up to see what's wrong with this new survivor. After a brief inspection and a few questions, Jask relays "he'll be fine. Just a little dehydrated, fatigued, and some heat stroke, but he should recover quickly, once we get him out of this sun and he has a chance to rest peacefully."
Return to camp or investigate the Brine Demon?
In the clearing...
Nymra is able to follow her own footprints back to the edge of the clearing and locate the Captain's trail again. The tracks continue on to the west.
Return to the camp or continue to follow the Captain's tracks?
Neil Ogea |
Assuming the ship has been here for some time and the weather seems fine, Neil will say, This ship will be here in the morning. A man's life is more important. Let's get him back to the camp. Can someone take my bag?
He'll then pick the man up and do a fireman's carry up the trail and back to camp.
Nymra Jahana |
Return to the camp or continue to follow the Captain's tracks?
After locating the tracks, Nymra will start gathering enough firewood and tinder to burn the zombies and the creeper.
"Oughta make sure none them damned plants can pop up from them bodies."At mentioning the creeper plant, her face takes on a small bit of the anger and disgust she had when she charged the creeper.
"After that, figure we keep followin' them tracks, they're headin' towards the inner coast, might actually catch up to the buggers. What say you Nimar? And did'ja find anything good on them or that plant?"
Still feeling some aches and pains, she drinks her other Cure Light Wounds potion.

Perfect! =D
Nimar |
Nimar almost feels like flipping a coin on the choice. "Still a little daylight," he thinks aloud.
Was there anything to note on the bodies? I'm less expecting loot than clues.
The Many-Faced GM |
Negative, nothing of value on the zombies or plant...unless you like hypnotic pollen...not really, no.
Nymra Jahana |
Nimar almost feels like flipping a coin on the choice. "Still a little daylight," he thinks aloud.
"May as well make use of it, after we burn these buggers."
With that, she gets to gathering wood.

Survival? The main problem I see is no tinder twigs, flint and steel, or evening a magnifying glass. To gather dry wood and start a fire without the proper tools would be difficult at best, so I would say a DC 15 with a -5 penalty unless you have way to start a fire.
Neil Ogea |
And you'll probably end up causing a grass fire and burning down a lot of our trails and tracks.

Fair enough. DC 15 survival check to locate dry wood and burny bits for a controlled burn.

Jask looks at the Brine Demon and poorly tries to disguise his happiness at seeing the wreck. "I had dared to hope, but I never dreamed I would find it. Yes, yes, you are quite right. The ship doesn't look like it's going anywhere. Let's get back and maybe the others will be back too." Aerys, Sasha, Neil and Jask accompany the newest addition to the island back to their base camp.
Meanwhile...
It takes some time but Nymra gathers enough wood to start a small fire. Within a few minutes of stacking the firewood, sparks fly and the tinder catches. A small plume of smoke rises up and causes the bugs to disperse.
Nymra Jahana |
Once the fire is burning bright, Nymra adds the corpses and the creeper to the fire. Once the bodies are fully engulfed, she turns to Nimar.
"We should head out while we still got daylight on our side, it won't be much longer. Tracks head west, maybe they're headin' for somethin' along the inner coast."
Nimar |
"Sounds good. Let's move out."
The Many-Faced GM |
Light: Dusk
Time: 8:00pm
As the sun descends below the horizon, Nymra and Nimar come trudging back into camp. The half-orc is recovered and conscious. Gelik works on cooking a stew while Ishirou walks a patrol around the camp. Jask blunders on for most of the night. "I...I can't believe we found it. Could it really be? Could I really return to my life?" He goes on and on almost to the point of being annoying until Gelik finally yells at him. "Oh give it a rest man, for goodness sake. We get it, you're happy, congratulations. Must you bore the rest of us to death with your incessant reveling?" Sasha giggles while Jask apologizes. "I'm sorry, I am getting carried away. I will try to contain my excitement." Aerys walks over and pats Jask on the back, "don't worry, I'm sure we'll find something to help you. In the mean time, try to get some rest. I'll take the first watch." Ishirou nods and immediately heads to bed.
Nimar |
"Uh...so what did we miss?" Nimar points to each member of the survivors in camp and whispers numbers. "Did we pick up a new survivor? Nymra? Did I eat poison berries or something?"
Neil Ogea |
While Sasha and I were out hunting, we discovered the Brine Demon - remember the ship that Jask was looking for? We ran back to get Jask and Aerys, and just before we were going to explore it, we found another survivor, but not one I recognize from the crew of the Jenivere. We brought him back to camp in hopes of revitalizing him. Tomorrow morning, I'd like to explore the ship. Maybe we can get an early start and head out before dawn.
Nymra Jahana |
"Uh...so what did we miss?" Nimar points to each member of the survivors in camp and whispers numbers. "Did we pick up a new survivor? Nymra? Did I eat poison berries or something?"
Nymra looks just as perplexed as Nimar
"Coulda sworn we were followin' the tracks west, that pollen musta had an effect after all."Upon seeing the newest addition to the group, she says," 'ello there, name's Nymra, not sure we've been properly introduced. If I'm not mistaken, yer a member of the crew of the Jenivere aren't cha? Haven't seen anyone else from the ship 'round 'ere 'ave ya?"
Nymra Jahana |
"Sorry to bombard you with so many questions, just 'aven't seen any other survivors aside from the rest of the group 'ere."
Nymra Jahana |
"Ya sure he's awake Neil?"
Clearly not one to be ignored, Nymra approaches the newest member of the crew and pokes his arm.
"Oi, I'm talkin' at cha! You feelin' alright mate?"
Nymra Jahana |
Nymra quickly retrieves her waterskin and holds it to the half-orc's lips.
Nimar |
"We've been running around this island while he's been slowly dying of dehydration. Will he recover?"
Nimar |
"Indeed she does, my friend," Nimar smiles and offers a silent prayer to the deity. Pretty sure She's saved my backside a few times, at least.
Orne |
The half-orc speaks slowly, between sips. My name is Orne, devotee of Desna. Of that, I'm certain.
I enjoy travel, so I go... walkabout. Met some locals and helped them out. Some healing and manual labor. They gave me a small row boat, shallow, nearly a raft.
Neil Ogea |
After Orne has recovered for a bit... Welcome back to the land of the living, Orne. We're basically shipwrecked and have spent the past several days trying to survive and figure out what the hell happened. Care to elaborate a bit more on your story? If you've met locals on this island, that could be very useful information.
Orne |
Kind of hard to say, they were simple folk... a fortnight ago, I have no idea how long I've been adrift, either.
No point going back, waste of time and effort. Desna wishes we move forward.
He sips quietly at the water. Something as simple as water.
Shipwrecked, you say... Looks like the start of an amazing adventure. Any time pressures, I could use some food.
Neil Ogea |
With a new arrival and some better bearings on our situation, I think it's safe to start splitting the night watch up a bit more. Give some of us a chance to actually get a full nights rest now and then. Tonight, I will be Jask, Ishirou, Nimar, me, and Aerys. Tomorrow night, Gelik, Sasha, Nymra, and Orne. Unless anyone has any objections, we can go in that order. 2 hours each. Trade up as you wish.
