I can see how you want to be careful, with every bit of interior trying to have me killed so far, but are you this statue is not just a statue?

And they think you're missing some rungs on the ladder, Venja. Just look at her waving that lantern about! Or maybe you're wrong, Venja, maybe this statue is dangerous.

Do you think this statue is like a sphinx? Always asking questions and never letting you in? Do you think these statues are friendly, or are they really nasty ones. Don't they have anything better to do, these statues? By the gods, what have we done to deserve these kinds of nasty statues! Venja says, sounding pretty serious.

Nevertheless, Venja moves to the door to check it out.

well they're stairs down. but same difference.

You cautiously walk down the stairs, brandishing the lantern. As you come to rest at the base of the stairs, and open your mouth to proclaim who you are to the statue, its head swivels towards you. Theres a wrenching sound as stone grates on stone. The stairs you just walked down have all rotated somehow, forming a 45-degree slide on both sides of the room.

anyone that was following needs a DC 10 acrobatics check to avoid falling down prone as you slide down the once-stairs. The wall is 10 ft, and is about a DC 15 climb check. Walking/Climbing up the sides of the slides is a DC 10 climb check ( at climbing speeds ).

The golem does not look like it has the most peaceful of intentions. You hastily blurt out your declaration of who you are, but it steps off the pedestal menacingly towards you.

everyone else where they want to be in the room? we'll be going into initiative.

Moved myself into the room, but still upstairs. Seems like a reasonable starting position. I wouldn't be outside the door..but I wouldn't have followed close behind either

Cyrixs glances at Omorose and decides to follow her suggestion, digging into his backpack and pulling out a (knotted rope) and tossing it down (while holding on to one end of the rope).

Should be 2 actions, one move to dig out the rope, a 5 ft step and another to actually use the rope

Omorose scans the room to find something to throw at the wooden statue.

Anything on the ground? Rocks, skulls? If something is close and visible, Omorose will pick it up and throw!

Whargh, sorry for falling off the world out of the blue, had a busy week totally out of nowhere. No worries, the world has reinstated itself with me on it.

Seeing how the statue suddenly moves, and Rowanne's mad dash up again, Vanovar fights the temptation to jump in the fray. He steps forward and readies to channel as soon as anyone's hurt.
"Oh, this does not look good... Don't worry Rowanne, I've got you covered!"

Rowanne scrambles up the rope, dropping the lantern in her dash for the it. hauling herself up quickly. The statue turns to Venja, face down on the stone where he landed after having fallen down the slide. It slams 2 shields into him. its first slam missing, the second coming down with a sickening crunch on venja's back.

shield slam: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 4 = 131d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
shield slam: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 4 = 211d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Vanovar's ready action goes off, channelling to heal some of venja's wounds

channel: 1d6 ⇒ 4 healed back to those in the area.

it's a bit meta, but indeed you could delay till after Vanovar's 2nd channel as he is a millisecond before the statue.

Going total defense and standing up might actually be better than trying to run away. You can't climb out in a single round so it will be able to attack you while you are on the rope.

I'd have thought that rope was lying down the sloped incline, but yes, I'll step to wherever that rope is that our paladin so bravely fled up ;-)

Omorose looks around, and with cyrixs spotting something funny with the curve of the statues back as it swings at Venja, she spots it: a small keyhole on the back of the golem!

AoO for venja moving over to climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
it doesn't have combat reflexes, so the two attempts to climb , which would drop his dex bonus to AC, he doesn't have attacks of opportunity for.

Rowanne and Omorose kneel down and/or lay flat on the ledge, lending their arms down to venja. with the assistance and the rope, he finally makes it up to the ledge... after one more attack from the golem.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 61d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
aoo for the climb : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

venja has at least one assist on his climb check this round, and likely could from vanovar or cyrixs as well this round. you manage to get him up.

About a minute after Venja leaves the lower area, the statue goes and steps back on the its platform. as it steps back on, you see its a weighted pressure plate. as the golem steps back on, the stairs return to normal stairs.

"Well..if it only activates when someone is on the lower part....try to avoid stepping there? Maybe swing on ropes or try to climb past it or something..but I'm not against resting before we try something like that....also even though some of us are against random destruction...we might want to consider shooting it to rubble from a distance"

"Do we really need to fight this thing? There's another door right behind him, but we've still got an entire lower floor to explore. That thing hits hard, and I don't fancy getting in close contact with it anytime soon. I might be a cleric of Gorum, but that doesn't mean I have a death-wish.
It does seem to trigger when we're downstairs, maybe Rowanne can stick it full of arrows from over here. I don't have any damaging spells, but I do still have 2 alchemist's fires and 2 acid flasks, but those are pricey solutions."
