The smile vanishes from her face, but her face does not change "Now I am Dyndan Linco, and have been since we set sail. I have no interest in being Amella or harming the ship. And really I wouldn't mind seducing Finn, I kinda find the new look interesting but have not done so."
sense motive 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
edit: for cryin' out loud ...
edit 2: "So you expect us to believe you were not the one impersonating Amella? You are the only shapeshifter on board. You are known to enjoy doing this sort of thing, and obviously enjoy the attention. And try and hide your nature from us. It was obviously you."
Daurros pauses a moment before continuing. "Which also makes you the prime suspect in the poisoning of the captain. And the one who cut the ropes a while back, and likely the one who released the demon to attack us. What do you have to say about those things?"
"Wasn't me, what would I gain from attacking a ship I am on? And yes Dyndan enjoys the Attention. and to hide what we are that is our nature, I have enjoyed being Dyndan and I guess I am some kind of wizard that I can summon demons as well? No it was not me. I have been many things but saboteur is not among them"
As far as Daurros can tell she seems to be speaking the truth
Karkalla
After spending hours hunting down more chests and digging though the hold, the first four chests remain locked but the fifth, a large wardrobe chest opens. And is filled with clothing, mens and womens all different makes and shapes, shoes and boots to match, a small selection of weapons, both fine and crude, jewelry and about a dozen identification papers ranging from a middle aged half elf librarian from Sharn to what seem to be a Lesser Noble from Aundair named Saldom Ir Kelmf. You also find correspondences to a dozen people as well as a writing kit and a fine set of thieves tools.
They seem to be letters to varies people, as you look though them no name really jumps out at you, but then you have not lived in most the places the letters are from. You did notice one with the name Sasserine, which if you recall is the port of call of this ship and the Home to the Vanderborns
While you do not know much about the city it seems to be a letter addressed to a Gerialar Divalean master of something called the house of violets. Names that mean little you you as your not from the city. But the while thing seems to be talking about some kind of dance lession or training. You however do not know the dance they are talking about.
Finn frowns. "If you're not the impostor, then who could it be? For the safety of this vessel, we may have to keep you confined to quarters until we reach the next port. If you are truly innocent, then I apologize, but I don't think we can take the risk. What do you think, Daurros?"
Karkalla stares at the letter for a few minutes thinking that a note about dance lessons seems rather odd before putting all the other items back. She returns to Finn and Daurros "Well I've had a look around her things and I haven't been able ta find anything to incriminating and more strange than anything else an unmarked trunk with some weapons and a letter that appears ta be dance lessons but that's about it." She tells them when out of earshot and handing the two the note she found. "Oh and a few different identification papers some thieves tools and a lot of clothes and Jewlery as well."
Finn frowns. "If you're not the impostor, then who could it be? For the safety of this vessel, we may have to keep you confined to quarters until we reach the next port. If you are truly innocent, then I apologize, but I don't think we can take the risk. What do you think, Daurros?"
While Finn took his turn at questioning her, Daurros has used the opportunity to use detect poison on her as well. Just as a precaution.
The below text assumes no poison traces found; if some are, my reaction will be far different.
In response to Finn, he thinks for a while, quite a while. Without turning his back to Dyndan, he takes Finn a ways away and speaks quietly. "I'm not certain keeping her locked up will solve anything, as I'm not convinced she's our guilty party. The fact she can so easily assume any form does bother me, however."
When Karkalla rejoins them and gives her report, Daurros first says, "What you discovered doesn't truly surprise me, actually. She's a changeling who seems to enjoy her different identities. This letter from Sasserine, though ... I'd like to read it." Daurros takes the letter and thoroughly reads it, trying to put the names and locations together.
While you detect no poison the house of violets is known to you. Its an old monastery dating back to shortly after the founding of the city. It is a store house for lore dating back to the long dead kingdoms of Sarlona. It houses some of the oldest texts from that long ago era.
However you do recall the Headmaster Gerialar Divalean being linked to the Riedra Ambassador, who as you know left the city after your group uncovered the Riesraen backed plot to seize control of the cities docks.
No one is sure that Gerialar Divalean was involved but he did spend alot of time with the Riedrain Ambassador and his party.
Daurros finishes reading the note, folds it up, and puts it in his pocket. "Yes, well, it would seem my opinion may have just changed a bit. Finn, Karkalla, would you mind watching over our guest for a few hours? I have a little more ... checking ... to do. Here, take this and feel free to use what you need." Daurros hands Finn his wand of ray of enfeeblement, then continues on.
In a voice loud enough for Dyndan to hear, he says, "I will be back in a few hours, I think. If she tries anything, I won't feel bad if I come back and 'she's' not conscious. Or worse."
Daurros then heads back to his cabin. He thoroughly checks everything using detect poison, and only responds to any of Ardanto's questions with single-syllable answers or even just grunts. Taking the note back out, he reads it over and over very carefully, trying to determine if there's any hidden meaning behind it's message of dancing.
Not sure what skill is most appropriate; Sense Motive seems to be for verbal communication, so I'm guessing this may be closer to the ability of Linguistics to detect forgeries. I will take 20 on the check.
You spend all night and most of the next day going over the letter, over and over , racking your brain and your sure something is hidden there. But you really have no Idea just what.
Your not sure what it means. If you knew the cipher they used maybe you could unlock more but your only left with vague words with little understanding of that they mean.
But you keep going back to the trasnoic steps, you see that brought up a few times odd but not that difficult it seems. Then finally it hits you, from old tongue "Trasnoic " if you recalled was old tongue for green stone. And it seems odd that Green stone steps keep coming up when Fort green rock is looming ever near.
Karkalla/Finn, After a few hours and Duarros has not returned Your gonna have to decide what to do with Dyndan. As the crew already think she is keeping Ardanto company you decide to keep her in the cabin where you can take turns watching her.
On board the freedom wind, things still go rocky but somewhat better now that the shifts are not as mixed. Still as you grow ever close to the fort resent meant sparks and the former Navy men become even more temperamental.
Daurros grabs the note, and runs back to the cabin with Dyndan and Finn. He opens and closes the door quickly, then asks simply of Dyndan, "What is the significance of Fort Greenrock? Answer!"
As he waits for the changeling's answer, Daurros pulls out his wand of magic missile and points it directly at her. Should Dyndan make a Sense Motive check, Daurros isn't bluffing.
" Sign invading peoples belonging is rude you know.Nothing that involves you really. Falan, a charming Breland fellow was hired a few months ago to deliver a package for someone. He was gonna book passage but due to unforeseen circumstances he needed to be elsewhere. So Dyndan, who already knew a captain and a ship and had enough fun on the last voyage anyhow made the trip instead."
She sighs, "But now things have got a bit complex and seems Falan might be best off staying dead, pity he was fun as well.' She looks at you from person to person 'Ya know Dyndan really likes you guys for the most part, You need laid though " she says winking at Duarros
"Look, right now I'm Dyndan, if you want to know who Falan was suppose to meet and what he had, sure no skin off her. Well I hope its no skin anyhow. In the wardrobe there is a false bottom, inside is a small silver book. Falan was suppose to meet a Man named Durlik, bald man with a scar on his face he was told. That was all I had planned for this trip" She tilts her head "Well that and being a shifter seamstress once we got to farshore. Lana makes such lovely things if I do say so myself"
As far as you can tell she seems not to be concealing anything from you
Karkalla has no touble finding the box once she is told how to find the cunningly hidden false bottom. It is a small silver box, about 6 inches by 6 inches with no visible hatch or lid. It seems solid silver but light.

"That's a good start. Now tell me how Gerialar Divalean got to know you, and why he wants ... Falan ... to deliver this package."
"I told you, Falan some coin to transport some items without dock customs finding them. Falan meet him a few times dropped off his package and sometime took another elsewhere. That is all I know of him. He did pt off a vibe of someone you would not like to cross, yeah I think Falan should stay dead."

"What do you mean, 'took another elsewhere'? Who was taken where, and what did they look like?"
Daurros lowers his wand a bit. "So, what do we do with you? We have a saboteur running around the ship, and I'm still not convinced you're not it. Someone impersonated Amella, trying to seduce Finn, and that fits you to a "T". You're the only shapechanger I've been able to find on the ship. You've had dealings with Gerialar Divalean, who has had connections with the Riedran Embassy in Sasserine, and they in turn have reason to hold a grudge against us. You can see my dilemma, yes?"
Assuming Karkalla brings the silver box back, Daurros asks her to try and see if it is trapped in any way, and if there's any way to open it. He'll also check it for both poison and magic.
No that is just so ya an keep the peace another day is all :)
Toxim manages to defuse yet another fight over one of the girls which seems to be lover with two different men. Being a captain is hard work it seems, and lonely without Lirith, although one of the girls has offered to keep Him warm at night.
Dyndan smiles sweetly 'I don't suppose you could just let me go? Where am I gonna go before greenrock? Know one has to know what I am after all, you can watch me like a hawk and have Karkalla there bunk with me on the same shifts really. Might be fun, shes kinda cute. You have my wardrobe and my belongings not like I stashed a want in my happy pace now is it.?
Karkalla gets the silver box and returns to the others "Daurros can ya have a look over this and see if it's magical or something?" She hands him the block
While the box is magic Duarros is unable to really pinpoint the type, its an odd aura not arcane in nature. He thinks however it might be divination but is unsure
Ardanto is fast asleep and far away in the land of nod, so he makes no move to question you.

Daurros looks at Finn and Karkalla. "Any suggestions? Dyndan's is really as good as any I have. Keeping her locked up will cause questions, as would killing her and dumping the body. We know who she is, and if anything else happens, I have a means to find her if she changes appearance. I'm not convinced she isn't the saboteur, but honestly, I'm a long ways from being convinced she is."
He thinks a bit longer. "Karkalla, you said there were seven chests total that didn't belong to anyone on board, but were going to individuals at Farshore. Can you go back and ... open them, have a look inside those as well?"
"I'm skeptical that we can keep a close enough eye on you, if you truly can change shape. But if you give us your word not to betray us, I'll defer to Daurros and Karkalla on the matter."
"Ya want me ta break open other people's luggage? Are ya sure about that?"
"I have confidence you can be discreet about it, and leave little to no evidence, yes?"
"Well ta be fair I was able ta open her luggage because I found the key the others I would have ta break inta"
"Very well. If you feel uncomfortable, never mind. I've found morals to be an unfortunate hindrance to getting the job done, myself. But we will press on.
"In the mean time, I suppose we don't have much other choice but to allow Dyndan to rejoin the crew. This will, of course, be kept quiet, right Dyndan? We can have an arrangement - you don't mention our ... talk here, and we don't mention you're not human. At Fort Greenrock, we will, of course, accompany you to deliver this package. Which I will hold on to until we get there. Does that sound like an acceptable deal?"
With little other option Dyndan rejoins the crew and is back to her normal antics before the day is out. Toxim's party while starting out as a good idea is something that never fully manifests as he is kept busy trying to keep his ship from falling apart over the next few days. Not a day goes by without a fight or crisis of some type on the Freedom wing and it is with great relief he she sees the towers of Fort Greenrock come into view.
The Fort is an impressive structure sitting on what is little more then a few hundred feet of barren rock spouting from the sea. A great dark wall a hundred feet high takes up a great deal of the island with massive towers every twenty five feet topped with great armored turrets manned with ballista or catapults
Great swabs of the walls are covered in green moss and the Harbor large enough for a few dozen ships sits under the careful watch of eight of those towers. As the Sea wyvern nears you can make out half a dozen ships in the harbor and docks, most look to be of five nation make but you do see at lest one of Elven make and one of the slave powered Hobgoblin vessels as well.

Ok folks what now?
Daurros spends the days after the interrogation investigating the silver box. He spends little time doing anything else, even forgetting to eat once or twice.
Once the hobgoblin ship is in sight, Finn hammers the rail with his fist. "Blast it! Will it be safe to offload these former slaves when their tormentors are right at hand?"

"Why not? We took the ship and slaves after they attacked us first. As far as I'm concerned, it is our right, and if they disagree, we can do it again."

"I'm not thinking of what will happen immediately, but rather what will happen if we depart and leave these men and women to their fates. I hope they have the strength to stand up for themselves, but they have been sorely weakened by their ill-treatment."
