Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Edit: you posted as I wrote this post...

"I think that would be for the best. Okay, you get in the boat, I lower them down, It can surely help us."

I assume all goes well, if not please let me know.

After getting the three fallen comrades into the boat, Guard gets to the oars, bringing the boat back in a curve, so it won't look like they would come from the nixie.

"I bet you know some ways to get us unseen to my smithery, right?" he asks Whisper, then getting carefully a comrade on each shoulder, to carry them, taking the heavier ones.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

After looking on the map of Sasserine a little more closely and noticing the Vanderborns place being near the water anyway

"Or I just get us to the Vanderborns directly? Maybe they have someone who can take care of our friends here..."

GM

The boat moves swiftly up the canal powered by the tireless rowing of Guard and It. Whisper stands on the bow and acts as look out as the slide though the water. The night air is a bit muggy befitting the season.Over head Dravago,Nymm and Lharvion shinned bright making it a clear night common on Eberron .
As the boat nears the Manor whisper climbs the embankment to scout the street, well lite but little in the way of watch right now. Working as a team the shifty haul there fallen companions up the embankment and across the cobble stone road. The warforged foot steps clanking across the cobble stone until they come to the lucked gate. Whisper swiftly unrolls tools hidden from her clothing and makes fast work of the lock hurrying to the house door with Guard and It close behind.
The knocker used late in the evening sounded increasingly loud. The sound seems to echo and the thought that anyone didn't hear it brake the quite sounds of night was mind boggling. Soon the small halfing Kora arrives she seems taken aback by the shape of the group , but ushers them into the manor. The group is lead into a side room an old study by the look of it. "Please wait here " she says as she hurry's off to fetch her mistress.

Soon Lavina Vanderdorn arrives in hasty downed clothing. "I have sent Kora for a healer." she looks to the group and deciding that the damaged warforged was her best bet for a straight answer she asks "Just what happened?" she looks to the fallen and says "I take it things did not go as I had hoped."

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"That depends on what you had hoped. We brought back the ring you sent us after, so at least you have that. Unfortunately, Vark would not let us speak with him, so we had to take other measures. As we had no time to take much care of the men Vark had on board of the Nixie, some of them had to pay that with their lives, Vark among them.

Did you know that there was a monster in the hold of the ship?" Guard asked, after the brief review of the evening.

GM

Lavina looks a bit troubled "Well I knew it might come to that but I had hoped it would not. Do you have proof there was something in the Blue Nixie s hold?" she seems to pace the floor "If we can prove he was up to no good this would go over much easier with the watch. Did any one see what happened ? where there many on my ship and what just do you mean by monster?"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"We all hoped that it would not come to that, but it did and so did we. I don't have a piece of that monster with me, I cut it into pieces and threw them overboard. I might be able to retrieve some, if need be and the creatures of the see have not had a fiest on them.

With some magic it should be easy to prove that we tell the truth, but we don't have that prove in hand, I'm sorry. There is one of Vark's man who escaped though, so that might lead to a problem. Besides Vark I think I counted 6 men, though I am not sure, maybe someone else can correct me on that.
The monster was some kind of spidery creature, probably double of my own weight, for it landed on my after the killing blow. I don't know exactely what it was." Guard answers the lady's questions methodically.

GM

She looks a bit worried but determined "I wishes we had the creature but we do not,the blood on the ship should be enough I'll have Kora summon the watch as soon as she returns"

With in a short time the elderly halfling returns with an older halfling and two younger ones, they set to work on the injured party bandaging and the older one caster some slight magics as the mark on his cheek faintly glows. Lavina sends Kora back out as the halflings work upon the men. It stands and stares out the window deep in thought.

The elderly halfling looks the Guard and Whisper "They should wake within the hour they must take it easy for a few days but they all should be fine." With that he makes his way toward Lavina they talk and him and his retainers leave. With in moments five men in watch uniforms come into the room after talking with Vanderborn they question the group asking many things as Whisper, It and Guard tell them all they know two men leave and three stay to make sure the group goes no where.

As the night stretches into morning the others start to stir to wakefulness Kora brings the group water and food. A few hours past down a weary looking watchmen comes and talks to Lavina soon after the watch departs. Lavina looks to the know awake group.

"The watch have uncovered much evidence in the hold as to varks crimes, as well as some informants connecting him to smuggling as well as other activity . There will be no charges to your group or myself." Looking over the worn group she says "Well I am sure you need your rest please go rest and meet back here this evening for your payment as well as ..other things I would like to discuses with you."

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

"Whatever you say, madam." Finn bows, wincing slightly at his wounds. "I'm sorry if I doubted what you said earlier. Vark was a bandit, plain and simple."

Finn returns to his boarding house, then dines sparingly and rests until it is time to return to the Vanderboren mansion.

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Whisper ensures Lavina gets her ring and her payment for her ship back as soon as she sees the other woman and after making a quick copy of it's contents she also hands over the cryptic message left with the ring. After that she keeps out of the way as much as she can, keeping quiet and only speaking when spoken to.

As Lavinia lets the others leave to rest she's the first to disappear, having found it strange being around so many others.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Guard goes back to his smithery as well, trying to get the remaining dents out of his body.
Craft (Armorsmith) to repair self. (1d20+4=16)

After doing that, he goes on to try to attract customers with his smithery, working on various items, he thinks to look good.

GM

Lavina watches the young woman slip out after giving her the recovered items. Yes its all there she thinks all 100 pp honest lass she knew she choose well.

Whisper makes her way though the waking city, the crowds hushes by not noticing the young woman . She holds a fortune in her arms the rapier and buckler of fine belish make , worth more gold then she had ever seen and they belonged to her now. She thought as she slipped though the crowd

GM

It wits until every one is gone before informing the Lady Vanderborn that It feels like It has other places to be. The thoughtful warforged makes it's way back to the bar It has called home for many months. It spends the next few days in thought, finding thoughts and feelings It has never felt. By dawn of the new week It is on a ship sailing to stormreach. AS It looks over the railing out into the vast blue that stretches on for ever. It does not know why It is going to Stormreach. It does know it feels right to be going.

GM

As Guard works tirelessly at his forge, shaping and bending metal to his will a shadow falls from the doorway. "Warforged. I had heared there was a warforged smith in the city now days." The man says in a karrnish ascent. He looked of Karrnish skin tone and featured as he came walking into the forge. His pace slightly off guard could see small scares on his neck fire perhaps. He seemed to hold his left arm odd at an off angle.

"I was hoping, being a warforged and all maybe you could help me with this." He hold up the left arm and pulls the sleave back to reveal an warped and twisted arm of metal, stone and wood. "It got mangled up in a block and tackle last winter and I haven't been able to do much with it since." He looks a bit worried and in thought and then he goes on.

" I am not a wealthy man, But I do have some gold saved and If its not enough I would be willing to work the repair cost off. Not many places in the city have replacement limbs and a new one as good as this one has been, is outside my means. SO do you think you could repair it?"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Looking over the mangled arm, Guard replies: "I am a smith mostly. But I will try to make it better, if you have the time, or are willing to put it off and leave it here for me to work on.

Before you expect too much: I am no Artificier. I taught myself how to work with metal and steel, I might not be able to make it any better, maybe even worse.

If you are still interested, I will do my best. Then we look what I was able to do, and find an outcome we both are good with. Deal?"

GM

'I understand,if I could afford to have an artificer to look at I would" He removes his shirt and starts unbuckling straps that cover a heavy scared chest. The arm seems to join at the shoulder by the straps nothing sits past the mans shoulder blade.

He uses his one good hand to hand the mangled arm to Guard. "I was hoping you would have some knowledge about repairing it . Not alot of difference from your own arms that I can tell."

Holding his good arm out to Guard in greeting he says " Names Arnkins Gandris, late of the 112th karrnith heavy infantry." With a wink at Guard "Us old soldiers need to stick together some times"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"I do repair myself sometimes, but most of the damage I have to repair dents to the armor, so that is rather easy. But I will do my best." Guard reassures the infantrist, taking the artificial arm with one hand, and the good one to greet with the other. "I call myself Guard these days. Glad to meet you Arnkins."

"You will find me here until one hour to dawn. By that time I will have done as much as I can." he says before the man leaves, then going to work quickly.

Craft (Armorsmith) to repair the arm of Arnkins. (1d20+8=24)
Craft Armorsmith +4 + masterwork tools +4 (rolled with only +2, corrected it here).

GM

It was early morning and Daurros and Ardanto were still drinking. They had barely notice the warforged come in. He talked with the owner and seemed to stare out the door while Daurros was telling some amusing magic story involving a mouse and a dwarf and mage hand. The warforged moved toward the back room and stops by the pair.

"It worked with a group once, group may need a wizard. pays good It thinks maybe you should speak with Lady vanderborn" With that the warforged walks to the back and is gone. Some thing played across that the air Daurros was not sure what but almost like a pattern was in the works. Some thing odd just happened yet he would almost feel thread weaving on a loom something being made.

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto chuckles at the conclusion of his companions joke, "Daurros, stop it your killing me, my sides hurt". Ardanto slurs the words a lot more than he had hoped, "this wine must be spiked with something" he muses as he rolls the empty wine tankard in his hand, a hardened drinker like myself should not feel so tipsy after only a few bottles.

A shadow is cast over them, looking up Ardanto squints to try and focus on the figure that approaches as it speaks "It worked with a group once, group may need a wizard. pays good It thinks maybe you should speak with Lady vanderborn". The words rattle through his beer addled brain and before he can answer the figure is gone.

"Daurros, my old chum, did you just see a statue and did it just refer to us as it?", he slurs again slightly, "or am I seeing things now?".

He tries to hold onto the words, but his ale soaked memory only retains the key words "pays good and Lady Vanderboren", he repeats the two phrases over a few times hoping to jog some memory of who this Lady may be.

Knowledge-Nobility +2 to see if the name Lady Vanderborn rings a bell. (1d20+2=15)

"Daurros old bean, I smell an adventure...." He trails off as he notices the strange look on his companions face.

**Time Passes**

After a drunken attempt to finalise a plan to go visit this Lady Vanderboren, Ardanto gives up on trying to remember the details and settles for going to bed and meeting his companion at breakfast tomorrow. From there, hopefully one of them will remember the conversation and he can set off in search of this Lady.

**Next morning**

Ardanto is not well, his head hurts, his guts are twisting and he is sure that something has defecated in his mouth during the night. On wobbly legs he heads down the stairs, gingerly testing each step and clutching the banister for support. After a hair of the dog and the greasiest breakfast he can order he will ask around for directions to the Ladies abode.

(OUT OF CHARACTER, WHERE THE HECK IS GATHER INFORMATION IN THE BETA?)
edit Diplomacy as a gather info to learn where Lady Vandeboren lives (Thanks to whisper for informing me which role gather info is now). (1d20+5=25)

**Assuming they secure directions with another awesome roll**

Ardanto cleans him self up as best he can and sets of (with Daurros if he joins me) to visit Lady Vanderboren. Once there he will seek admittance, relating the talking statue story and introduce him self as "Ardanto Valanto, you may of heard of me, I am here because I heard you seek a Wizard and where my freind goes, I go". He will then give his most dashing smile and hope to impress over the following conversation.

Diplomacy check to try and impress the Lady Vanderborn. (1d20+5=24)

**Ardanto is incredibly charming today it would seem, let's get him hung over more often**

**Is there a picture of Lady Vanderboren, the guide says she is young, I sense a damsel in distress, just the ticket for a dashing swashbuckler, that is as long as she is not a moose. Even a hung over Ardanto has standards.**

Female Human (mostly) Rogue 2

Gather Info is Diplomacy now

Picture of Lavinia Vanderboren Thought I'd be helpful :)

Whisper keeps herself out of the way for a while, clinging to shadows and working through her muddled thoughts, before resting. Sure the group seemed nice enough but it seemed that they'd all always see her as just a child, a thought she growing to detest quickly. Part of her is tempted to not bother going back yet somehow when the time comes she finds herself on the Vanderboren doorstep once more.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

"...and so the dwarf sits down real hard, before he even knew the thing was there!!" Daurros rolled in laughter at his own story, while trying to down the last of this particular mug of ale. Unfortunately, his aim was a bit off, and more of the cold drink ended up on the front of his tunic than in his mouth.

"Oh, for the love of ... " he started to say, as the shadow of a large figure passed over him and his friend Ardanto. An odd, almost mechanical voice came from the figure, "It worked with a group once, group may need a wizard. pays good It thinks maybe you should speak with Lady vanderborn." And then the figure disappeared as quickly as it arrived.

"Daurros, my old chum, did you just see a statue and did it just refer to us as it?", Ardanto asked, "or am I seeing things now?".

Trying to think for a moment, Daurros replied, "Yes ... huh? I don't know ... who's Lily Ganderhorn? Didn't you date her last year?"

Still a little more clear-headed, Ardanto corrected Daurros. "Oh, Lady Vanderboren!" Daurros exclaimed, "Let's see ..."

Knowledge (Nobility), also seeing if he knows who Lady Vanderboren is (1d20+8=27)
Knowledge (Local) to see if he knows where she lives (1d20+8=11)

Next Morning

The pounding had gone on for a good minute or two before Daurros realized that someone was at the door to his room, and it wasn't just his head punishing him for the night before.

"Go away!" The door/his head pounded again. "I said GO AWAY!" After the next knock, Daurros dragged himself out of bed and opened the door to find Ardanto telling him he missed breakfast, and to get a move on so they could head over to see Lady Vanderboren.

Finally agreeing to go (his funds are running out, and maybe it's easy work and good pay?) and cleaning himself up, Daurros eases the hangover with a quick prestidigitation and the two set out. Once there, Daurros will let Ardanto do most of the talking, although he will introduce himself and downplay any reference to his family should Lady Vanderboren know any of them.

Diplomacy check, in case it's needed (1d20-1=4)
Which is why he let's Ardanto talk! :-) Background is coming! I should have it up a little later tonight.

GM

Ok gonna do a bit of reconnect here just to make things fit better. the group will be meeting vanderborn the next day after they left her house for lunch not dinner.

So for statement it is the 4th day [wir] of the 3rd week in the month of Dravago[late spring]

Daurros and Ardanto are shown in to a study that seems to be sparsely decorated . It seems to you as though things are missing. After hearing your storys and seeming to be impressed by the tells she speaks.

"It sent you, yes he told me he needed to go away. I am having a group of people over in a few hours and I wish to hair them on as my trouble shooters would you two be interested in that?"

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

"Well, Lady Vanderboren, I'll admit I should ask what exactly you have in mind, and if it involves anything illegal. But you know what? At this point in my life, I'm not really sure that I care. So long as my friend here is in, and the pay is good, I think I'll probably be in, as well. What can you tell us about these other people?"

Daurros realizes that there's almost no way he could have told her no, anyway - maybe Ardanto's swashbuckling way of looking at things is wearing off on him, but he doesn't see how he could have refused such a lovely woman.

Background is in my profile, now. Let me know if anything doesn't fit or sound right, or if there are any other suggestions.

Male Valenar Cleric1

Ith shows up to lunch several minutes late without his sword and armor and quietly sits in a chair in a corner paying little attention to what is going on around him...

GUARD

It was early the next morning ,guard still working at his forge. Arnkins walks into the shop.
"Morning to you Guard" he says as he makes his way to the forge . he seems to be carring something in his hand.

"Have you had any luck gods willing?"

GM

Ardanto and Daurros

Lady Vanderborn looks at the two closely before she speaks.

"Well I will not ask you to brake city law. However as you may have heard I have just inherited this manor and a fair amount of dept. I want you to meet the others and if you work well together I would be willing to hire you on as well"

She stands and walks toward the pare giving them a smile "My family has long had a tradition of talking on trouble shooters, The jade ravens have been with us a long time. How ever they are elsewhere and I may have need of some help. So what say you stay for lunch?"

Fighter Level 9

"My Lady, I hope I speak for us both", he gestures at his companion, "when I say we will be delighted to accept your offer of lunch".

I will make polite conversation and try and find out some more about her current predicament.

q1. "Hmmmmm, Jade Ravens, ever heard of them Daurros?"

Knowledge Nobility and Diplomacy(Gather Info), who the hell are the Jade Ravens? (1d20+2=21, 1d20+5=12)

q2. "My lady, if it is not too painful a subject could you tell me some more about the loss of your parents?"

q3. "I also hear that your brother is missing."

Diplomacy check for information from Lady Vanderboren about her parents death and her missing brother. (1d20+5=22)

Ardanto will apologise for prying too much, but he will entertain the idea that some one is trying to remove her whole family from the picture. Does Lady Vanderboren feel that someone would profit from the demise of her family? If she believes this is a possibility, Ardanto will volunteer to take up residence in her house as a potential body guard and deterrent to any possible plots against her.

Ardanto is offering for a few reasons, the first is he truly believes he is a heroic high level swashbuckler, secondly he thinks it would be a good idea to get to know his potential boss (especially as DM's tend to have the bosses be the real villain, maybe she bumped her family off and he could observe her closely), thirdly he is pretty sure in his own mind that some one is going to bump her off at some point and finally because she is pretty attractive.

Hopefully she will allow us to stay and chat while we wait for the rest of the party to arrive, if not we will ensconce them selves in a nearby cafe or restaurant and drink tea/coffee until the designated time.

GM

Ardanto

The Lady Vanderborn is happy to make conversation. And has tea brought in. A spicy tea normally found in the city with goat milk.

Q1..The ravens are known in the city long having been on the pay of the vanderborn family. The are known to recruit replacements as they leave the group. This bunch has only worked for the family for a few months

After small talk of the city shes seems a little troubled over her parents and brother and seems troubles as she speaks

"I have not been back in the city long before my parents deaths. They were on the maiden voyage of there new ship when the fire struck. She sank with all hands, when we found out it hit us vary hard. My brother likes to stay away from home and once he had the news , he didn't handle it well and he has not been back since."

"As to if anyone would want to harm my family I do not know, I was away many years so there might be but I do not think so."

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Daurros keeps mostly quiet, nodding or forcing small smiles when it seems appropriate. However, he tries to recall what he knows of the interactions of the nobility in the city, to see if he could think of any possible suspects in her parents' deaths ...

Knowledge Local & Nobility checks to see if Daurros can determine if any noble families "have it in" for the Vanderborens (1d20+8=26, 1d20+8=18)

If Ardanto volunteers to stay on as a bodyguard, Daurros follows suit. While he also finds the lady very attractive, his motive stems more from the fact he could use a cheap (i.e. free) place to stay, not to mention the off-hand possibility how the rumors of him staying here might upset his family.

GM

Daurros

Spoiler:

As far as you can recall not out and out hostility excits. The Vanderborn's were known to be eccentric and adventurous lot and were sometimes looked down on for there unnoble behavior .

Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1

Finn limps in to lunch, greets Lavinia politely, and waits to hear about the new assignment (and to get paid for the last one, of course).

Fighter Level 9

As lunch approaches, Ardanto notices other people arriving.

Whisper
First is a petite, young attractive female human, she keeps her face down turned and is almost imperceivable when she speaks. Her clothing is tomboyish and practical and her piercings look out of place in a noble setting. Ardanto very nearly dismissed her as a child until he notices the slightly elven ears. "She is probably a lot older than she looks" he muses more to himself than Daurros, "Remember that Elven princess we rescued once? She looked about 12 but twas as old as my Papa, Let's say hello," he lets out a slight chuckle as he remembers the beautiful elven princess and how upset her father was to find a human had rescued her and then disappeared with a fair chunk of his royal fortune.

Act 2 of the Salacious Scallywag – Ardanto and the Elven Monarch.

Ardanto strides over, his boots echoing loudly in the large chamber, "Greetings m'lady, I am Ardanto Valanto adventurer and sailor and this fine upstanding gentlemen is none other than Daurros, Daurros Erdai master magician and air to a vast fortune, may I have the pleasure of knowing your name so that we may be properly introduced?" He offers his hand in such a way as he can take hers and bow and kiss it as opposed to shake it, but leaving it angled enough that it could be turned into a shake if the pretty young thing so chooses.

Finn
Next to arrive is a half elf who carries him self with the grace of a wounded animal, like an injured great cat stalking a plain in search of prey, hurt but still deadly. Ardanto had seen the same graceful movements from the pit fighters in the arena. The half-elf greats Lavinia politely before sitting down to wait. Ardanto nods his acknowledgement of his arrival and then strides over to greet him. Offering his hand to shake he speaks, "Hello Sir, I am Ardanto Valanto and this is my most trusted friend Daurros Erdai, I believe that the lady means for us to join your group in its next endeavour". "I myself am a skilled swordsman and my companion here is a master magician, although he is too modest to admit that". "May I ask about your skills, you carry your self with the poise of a trained warrior, perchance you are a swords man like me?"

Ithaniar
Lunch is under way when a Elf with silver hair arrives, Ardanto stops in the middle of noisily eating on a chunk of bread to watch his graceful movements across the room to his seat. Ardanto waits for the elf to be seated before turning to Lady Vanderboren in expectancy of her introducing him.

"Ah, Arnkins! Is it morning already? I have not noticed... About your arm, I am sorry. I think I may have destroyed it more, than it was before. The remainings are over there, under the blanket." he tells the Soldier, naturally keeping a straight face over his joke, looking for the surprise when the man sees his repaired arm.

You mentioned the costs of material in the chat, but not the ammount. How much would that be?

GM

Guard

So I did right at 25-30 gp

Arnkins looks a bit worried as he makes his way to the forge
"Ah well I thank you anyhow for trying, OH , WHATS THIS!"
He exclaims holding up the patched and reinforced arm, He gives it a looks over before pulling his tunic over his head and making fast work of refacening the many straps and buckles across his scared frame

"Real bang up work there" He hold the moving the fingers and stretching the arm "Yes sir Guard bang up work indeed. What do I owe you for the work?"

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

As others arrive for lunch, Daurros mostly observes, rather than mingles. He will manage a polite nod when Ardanto introduces him, but won't offer his hand unless offered first. Daurros will engage in polite, but sparing conversation if others do; he will avoid any questions regarding his family.

"Yes, of course Jac ... er, Ardanto," Daurros replies. He occasionally still slips up regarding his friend's "changes", especially when sober and thinking clearly. Trying to recall the play, Daurros remarks: "That was some adventure ... especially when we charmed the vault guards and they helped us carry the money to our waiting mounts!"

Daurros's first impressions of the others:

Whisper: At first a bit surprised at her apparent youth, Daurros recalls he was casting his first spells before he was even a teenager. So he assumes she's likely competent at whatever she does (he gets a good idea based on her ability to "fade into the background"). Assuming Daurros wouldn't have heard of Whisper before, since her fame was primarily among the Shadowshore folk. Daurros knows a few pubs there, but never really talked to many actual people.

Guard: Daurros has never met a warforged before (except his brief, hazy encounter with It in the tavern), and is admittedly intrigued. Of any of the others, Daurros is most willing to engage Guard in conversation. Knowledge Local to see if he's heard of Guard (1d20+8=16) I'm assuming that's enough; let me know if that's a bad asumption ... "Aren't you that warforged that does metalwork from his cart?"

Finn: Seeing if Daurros has heard of Finn (1d20+8=26) Daurros recognizes Finn as the half-elf who broke up a fight at a butcher shop some few weeks ago. He nods when Ardanto introduces him, but otherwise doesn't initiate talk, noting his somewhat dangerous appearance and mannerisms.

Ilthaniar: Seeing if he's heard of Ilthaniar (1d20+8=19) Daurros thinks Ilthaniar could be the valenar he's heard about who has been known to break-up a mugging or two recently. His stand-offishness suits Daurros just fine, nodding only when introduced.

Forzakhad: Seeing if Daurros has heard of Forzakhad (1d20+8=25) The sole survivor of a diseased ship, Daurros is a bit unsure about Forzakhad. Thinking it's certainly possible he could be a carrier of something, Daurros is polite but maintains a distance from him.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"Aye. I could not make it good as new, but I think it is better than before, isn't it?" chuckles the warforged as good as he can.

"As for the payment: I owe you a thanks for letting me work on something as complex as that arm. I haven't had such kind of work until now. It taught me some lesson, but I think I mastered it a little bit.

As you can see, the arm has gained some reinforcement, I hope you can adjust to that well. That and changed material cost me some gold, 30 pieces to be precise. Not counting my actual working with it, for, as I said, it was a learning experience, I would like you to pay for the material at the very least.
Anything more is appreciated, but not necessary.

And an apology for that little joke I just played on you."

GM

Arnkins chuckles . "the joke is well and fine Guard. As for the gold yes I have most of it.25gp If you would be willing to allow me to pay you that and work the rest off or pay you next week"
He looks deep in thought for a moment "If not you can hold the arm for me until I can get the rest"

reaching under his tunic on the bench he holds a faded book out the Guard.
"Which ever I want you to have this. Its something and old soldier like yourself might find ...enlighten"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"Ah, 25 gold is good. And your promise to spread the word of my worksmanship.
And if you insist on me taking this book, what can I do against it? So, do we have an agreement?" the warforged asks, reaching over his hand.

After that is settled, Guard rushes to the Vanderborns villa, only to find some of his companions already assembled, missing the other warforged, but acompanied by two others.
Guard will move over to Whisper, nodding to Finn and the others.

After getting introduced, and the question of Dauros, he is glad to answer: "Why, yes, that would be my reputation. May I ask how you heard of myself? I hope it was good reputation?"

"I myself am a skilled swordsman and my companion here is a master magician, although he is too modest to admit that". "May I ask about your skills, you carry your self with the poise of a trained warrior, perchance you are a swords man like me?"

Finn bows while shaking the fellow's hand. "Hello, master Valanto. If you're half as good in a fight as the rest of these folks, then I will be glad to have you watching my back. Let's hope that our next job doesn't involve getting chewed in half by a huge spider!"

Finn indicates his longspear. "I don't know anything about swords, but I have some training in the longspear and in the Delirious Tiger fighting style." He demonstrates with a flurry of high kicks (safely directed away from anyone present).

"Well, you did cause a bit of a stir among the ... ahem, 'upper crust' when you passed through the noble district a few weeks back. Not something they're used to, I'm afraid.

"However, I recently purchased this rapier on my belt from an associate of mine at a tavern. Seems he had it made only a few weeks ago from a warforged who did his work out of a cart. He fell on hard times only a little after, so sold the weapon to me. I must admit, it is a fine item. Would this be one of your handiworks?"

A trace of suspiscion passes the young woman's features as she's approached but she quickly casts it aside and gently takes the dashing Ardanto's hand. "People refer to me as Whisper" She declares in a small voice by way of introduction. Slowly she looks up, and up some more and into the eyes of the man a full foot taller than her. "It's a pleasure to meet you both" She adds softly with a faint smile.

I have never seen such a fighting style, it is magnificent, is there any chance that you would consider teaching me some of those moves after lunch or perhaps the next day?" He has a look of open wonder on his face, like a small child, who just found out he has been brought a pony.

Ardanto gives Whisper a genuine smile, "I am sure the pleasure is all ours" he says as he bows low and kisses her hand. When lunch is served he pulls her seat out so that she can be seated comfortably.

Guard
After hearing Daurros greet the Warforged Guard, Ardanto moves over as well, when a break occurs in the conversation he speaks "Mister Guard, I am delighted to make your acquaintance as well and offers him his hand". He then moves over to the fireplace and leans against the mantle while humming a song and observing the guests.

"Ah, yes, that caused some disturbance."

"Indeed. I can proudly say, that this one was made by myself." the warforged approves. Inspecting the weapon a little further he adds: "It seems you and your friend did not have the need to take the rapier into action, I can make out no marks of usage... " after which he hands the weapon back. "May you not need to draw it for a longer time again, if not to demonstrate the craftiness of warforged." he adds.

Taking the offered hand Guard replies: "Guard will do nicely, no need to call me Mister, Sir Valanto."

"Then I will make you a deal, I will drop the Mister and you can drop the Sir". He shakes the hand energetically while smiling widely.

"Firm hand shake you have there Mis.. Guard", he corrects him self just in time.

"Hah! Yes, I admit that while I can hold it without cutting myself, my true talents, unfortunately, lie elsewhere," Daurros shrugs. "We can't always pick and choose what we're good at, I suppose."

Daurros continues idle conversation with Guard until lunch is ready. When finally seated, he eats lightly (his stomach is still a tad queasy from the previous night's activities) and waits patiently to find out just what he may have gotten himself into.

I nearly forgot: Somewhen the day before, Guard takes some time to get food for the mules. And a possible place where there would be cared for them. He does not want to sell them as of now.

"I can agree to that, Ardanto." affirmates the warforged.

"Ah, yes, I try not to break human hands, if the situation arises."

"I tend to agree, though you humans have it easier than my kind. But let us not talk much about the past. Even I myself have gotten the chance to choose for myself. And see where that got me: on the streets with a cart, two mules and an anvil. Hohoho." jokes Guard.

During lunch he tries to get the taste of some of the more uncommonly served things to eat.

For a time Lavina lets the group eat and talk with one another. Happy to have the manor filled with life and laughter once more. Once everyone has finished most of there meal she gets up and removes several small sacks from a chest in the corner shes walks and hands one each to Guard,Whisper,Finn,Captain Forzakhad, and Ithaniar. In each small pouch is 20 platinum pieces struck with the sails and twin snakes of Sasserine.

"Here is the promised payment my friends. Your work will help me save my heritage and I thank you. As you can see I have invited too more to lunch with us. I have something to ask you all."

She walks near the window to the garden and looks out. Then turns back toward the group.

"I would like to hire you on as my trouble shooters and body guards. I would pay you each 1oo gold per month for services. As nobles my family has many interests and having capable people to depend on is a key stone to rebuilding my family fortunes. Do we have an accord?"

Finn hesitates. "I could try to show you, but I'm just a student myself. It really takes a lot of dedicated training. We can try a few moves together, though."

When he receives his payment from Lavinia, his eyes widen slightly. This is more than he had earned in the past few years, in one day!

"My lady, I would be honoured to be your bodyguard. You are too, too generous.

"I will gladly accept your offer, Lady Vanderborn. Will that require us to move here, to be of service anytime, on short notice?"

Forzakhad looks down at the platinum. Here is a way to get the dock fees off his mind at last. Now maybe he can get some more work done then

Ardanto glances at his companion Dauros for agreement before he stands and over dramatical bows as he exclaims "M'lady, my sword, my body and my mind are yours to command for as long as you have need of them".

With that he then sits and grins rather foolishly at Daurros while waiting for his friends acceptance speech.

Sometime after lunch Ardanto Wanders off into a side room to attempt to copy the moves he witnessed master Finn demostrate.

Ardanto attempts to perform several high kicks in the Delirious Tiger fighting style. (1d20+4=23, 1d20+4=9, 1d20+4=6)

Leaping high into the air Ardanto whirls his leg in a fluid motion at an invisible opponent, the blow would have landed cleanly on the chin of an attacker, with out pausing he attempts to reverse the movement to hit his invisible foe in the chest, but his momentum carries him side ways where he tumbles into a side board, disorientated by the collision he attempts to flip backwards while kicking his legs out. His shins crack loudly against the lip of the sideboard and he crashes unceremoniously in a heap on top of a near by rug.
