Daurros

Spoiler:

There are a few stoping points listed
1. Fort blackwell in Q'barra near 500 miles away
2.Fort greenrock in Valnear near1'700 miles out
3, A small island called Ruja in the thunder sea 2'500 miles from the city

Lavina looking over the maps with the group [b'}I had hoped to stp a few places. Fort blackwell here, She says pointing the the Qbarra coast [b]"And fort greenrock here' She points to the valnaer coast then again out in the thundersea "And Ruja here. I also have some passangers and colonists that you would need to take with you. Is there any thing you need to do that would put off leaving within the week?'

What do I know about where she wants to make stops?

Fort Blackwell K:Local 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Fort Greenrock K:Local 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Ruja K:Local 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
If the roll calls for K:Geography instead it is 1 higher.

Edit: it showed with my post.

Toxim ir' Kinain wrote:

That happens all the time. I believe it's a quirk in the way that they synchronise between the different message board servers.

"I am ready to leave immediately; I own nothing more than the clothes on my back."

"Apart from all of you, I have nothing keeping me in Sassarine."

"Some hours to arrange for my leaving, but nothing that will take more than a day." Guard states.

Toxim

Spoiler:

Fort Blackwell : Is a small Q'Barran fort near 500 miles from the city. If you recall there is a small harbor and a town of near 1000 maybe

Fort Greenrock you have never heard of this place

Ruja :Is just a jungle covered Island in the thunder sea

Anyone wish to do anything in the next few days or should we just start with meeting Npc's and loading the ship?

Load! Load! Load!

"If we rush I can have the ship loaded and ready in three days maximum and we can sail on the high tide after that, I assume we are slipping out quietly and telling people we are heading on a normal trading trip?

Ardanto will be kept busy making arrangements for the ship, he will make some enquires about where to purchase two normal ballista and how much they will cost.

Ardanto

Spoiler:

You can find the ballista very easy

Standard 500gp
Repeater 650gp
5 round mag repeater 900gp

This will take 3 days of game time, anything you want done now be a good time. I'll move this forward soon.

Ardanto is kept busy making the necessary arrangements to crew and supply the ship.

Am I right in assuming that the supplies are being paid for by Lavinia?

He also looks into buying one 5 round mag repeater Ballista for 900gp for the ship, if you want additional protection, some one else will have to buy it.

900 gold crossed off sheet. Do we need any special training or crew members to shoot it?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn helps in whatever way he can to prepare for the journey, toting barges and lifting bales, etc.

Guard just informs Kerinith of his trip, making him responsible for keeping the shop running.
Appart from that, he's got not much to take care of.
He uses the time to train with Snem, shaping some other soulmelds that might be useful.
For the time being he unshapes his flaming mantle and his warhammer, opting for Soulmelds that Snem calls 'Cerulean Sandals' and 'Sailor's Bracers'.

He's working with different ones too, trying to find a nice setup for the trip on ship.

I'd like to spend some time reading over the journals and talking to Lavinia about them. What language is it in? I remember that I couldn't help much with translating it, but now that it is translated, maybe I can learn the language (remember I am a natural linguist) Also, it will help me prepare for what we'll face on the island.

(Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9)

Daurros will go on one good bender one evening. After all, it may be the last time for a while ...

I'll happily join him.

OK a few things here. 1. I am a bit behind do to Thanksgiving. 2. Ardanot, you can get trained crew for it as part of the crew yes. 3.Toxim the book is in druidic for the most part so is unreadable to you

Over the next few days, Ardanto and the crew stay busy, as do the rest of the group. The Sea wyvren's First mate Amella Venkalie Books no lip from the crew as she ruthlessly goes out whipping what she calls "A no good bunch of whoresons, who can barely walk the deck, but the'll do" she seems to care little for anyone but oddly seems to be less harsh with Finn then the rest of the group.

Along with Ardanto and a bit of help from Guard the new bellista has been installed and Amella has given the crewmen little rest as she makes sure they can use it. The crew is a mixed bunch, mostly human with a few half orcs and one half elf, but seems a competent lot

The first of your passagers arrives 2 days before sail. Father Feres A lowly priest of Dol Arrah, ,he seems to be a jolly priest even saying prayers over the evening meals but tends to stay out of the way and below deck for the most part. The next to arrive is a shifty looking, hunched shoulder character with pale skin and a nasally voice. He calls himself
Skald He seems to keep to himself and always seems to be watching everyone

The next to arrive isUrol Forol A talkative and chipper gnome who smells of earth. He was instrumental in Lavinia translating her mothers journals and demanded to be part of the voyage. When ever talk turns to that of nature, be it the sea, birds or even the color of grass he flys into a frenzy of excitement studdering and expounding upon obscure details that he at lest finds fascinating

next to last is Lirth VENLIROSE This red haired tomboy seems to like to dress in flamboyant scarves of silk. She seems to have a fair amount of knowledge of a sailing vessel and an eye for the good captain

One the morning your meant to sail, the Last guest has yet to arrive Avner Ir'Meravenchi who you have been told his family funded a good part of the voyage is an hour late.

In the time we have I'll talk with Urol about the journal. I'm willing to 'talk shop' with him, but will try to keep him on subject as much as I can. I'll also try to make friends with Lirith. At first glance, she seems like the sort I'd like to keep company with.

Not only is Urol happy to talk with Toxim, he is down right animated. He goes on in a endless frenzy about the journal, about the travels The late lady vanderborn must have seen. He talks of the wildlife and the vegetation, of the odd little flying monkey-men, how he has counted no less then 22 verity's of thunderlizards from or journal and 78 types of plants and oh what uses he can find for them

"I mean, this one here could be used for slowing bleeding and this one might make an excellent tea! Did I ever tell you of the time I had rends root valenar tea? No, really??..well I was in deasnfort and..did you know the tallgrass in dassenport is that sand hue do to the soil? Yes the Soil!! It has to do with the beetles of that area , now you see what they do is....."

Just how does Toxim dress?

Toxim is an outdoorsman and his clothes show it. He also sees himself as nobility and on some level he tries to project that as well. I picture him as looking much like Aragorn (you may not know the name, he's the character in Lord of the Rings that had a way of making an entrance). His clothes are well made and cared for in forest greens and brown. He doesn't wear jewelry that doesn't serve a purpose, like his magic items, though he does have an amulet with his family's coat of arms engraved on it.

Given his looks Lirith, does not seek toxim out, but nor does she turn him away. She likes to talk of adventure, and likes to hear tells but she seems very flamboyant and showy and seems to have an eye for finer things

Perfect, we can hang out and have some fun together. It's going to be long trip and it will be nice to have someone to help distract from the tedium.

Hey guys really sorry about not posting, things got busy over Thanksgiving.

Thoven will help in whatever way he can to prepare the ship before leaving, and after meeting the passengers, he'll try to talk mainly to Father Feres, whom he would see similarities with presumably being a holy man.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn approves of the strict discipline that First Mate Amella imposes on the crew, although any abuse directed towards the other Falcons he is quick to rebut.

Finn also talks with Urol about any unusual creatures they may encounter on their voyage, and whether any of them would make suitable foes for fighting in the arena.

He politely asks all of the passengers (Skald, Father Feres, and Lirith -- it sounds like Urol is a naturalist bound for Farshore) why they are going to the Isle of Dread.

Guard is going to help the crew out where he can. (His Sailor's Bracers soulmeld should help him a bit there.)

The warforged will talk to Father Ferres while waiting for Avner Ir'Meravenchi to arrive.

(Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9)

Daurros will help Ardanto get things ready, as best he can. Cantrips such as mage hand, prestidigitation, and mending will be used as much as needed. Otherwise, Daurros seems quiet and reserved, and more than a little annoyed at the one passenger's lateness.

Ardanto will personally greet each of his (timely) guests as they board, ensuring that they all get settled in. He seems to be enjoying the atmosphere, striding around laughing with the crew and grimacing comically at his first mates tirades.
As soon as the ship is loaded Ardanto will order the gang plank drawn up, "if this Avner Ir'Meravenchi can't be bothered to turn up on time then he can bloody well swim out to us." he comments with an air of irony.

Taking Daurros aside he confides, "anyone of these people could be controlled by those things, I like not at all that this Avner is late, it reeks of suspicion and I know not his name."

He catches sight of Skald as he finishes speaking and mutters, "he may be worth watching as well."

Ardanto is for the most part amused by the attention of Lirth VENLIROSE talking to her about sailing, ships and adventure. He gets the opinion that Toxim may have an eye for her, so disengages himself from any romantic distraction.

Thoven

Spoiler:

The good farther is happy to talk with you about his faith Dol Arrah, whos is the goddess of honor and sacrifice. Though he admits he was never gifted with his goddess divine power. Not all who sever are gifted as such and all serve where and how they can he says

Finn

Spoiler:
Urol excitily tells Finn everything he knows about creatures in the journal. Going on long fascinating tales(to himself at lest) of the life cycles of such beats. Mostly thunderlizards and large flightless birds. He often gets sidetracked by the creatures diet, interesting facts of color of said creatures or other such fun facts

As to the others
Skald, polity tells you it's none of your concern why he chooses to go where he does. The good farther does not plan to go to this farshore place but rather is making a pilgrimage to the shrine at Fort blackwell. Lirith is just out for adventure and thought this farshore place could use a swordhand and maybe she can earn a bit of gold

Guard

Spoiler:

Father Ferres, confesses he has never spoken to a warforged before and would be happy to hear your tale

Near an hour after the boarding plank is raised Avner Ir'Meravenchi shows up, not only with his horse but with 15 trunks and is demanding the boarding plank be lowered"I say there, you! yes you lout on the ship! Lower the plank at once! You hear me! I said lower that plank at once!

"Oh! This ought to be entertaining. I think he's talking to you, Captain."

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"He is a paying customer after all. Perhaps he was unavoidably detained; in that case, removing the gangplank is just needlessly antagonizing him. We don't need to irritate the nobility of Sasserine more than necessary." Finn frowns at Ardanto's juvenile antics.

Ardanto makes a point of ignoring the yelling man and goes about his business, "when he learns some manners he can board my ship, but until then he can work up a head of steam," he remarks, "pompous foul, where does he think all his luggage is going to go, I tell you where in the same room he sleeps in, let us see how comfortable he finds that."

Turning to Finn he confides, "perhaps he was also delayed because he was infected by those things?" he pauses, "but, looking at the luggage, I would guess he thinks so highly of him self that he does not care that he has inconvenienced any one else." "I will let him on in good time, but not before he learns that there is a pecking order on this ship and he is at the bottom of it, if he does not like it then I am sure Lavinia can find room for him and his luggage on the other ship."

He continues to ignore the man, hoping he works himself into a stuttering rage.

There is no picture of this person? Is he young? Old? Overly dressed ect?

Knowledge-Nobility +2 (+0 Int, +2 Academy Graduate) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

With that roll Ardanto has never heard of him.

(Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9)

"I can see we're just going to love this gentleman," Daurros comments to Ardanto. "Perhaps Finn is right; no need to antagonize the man. But where in Khyber are we going to put that horse?"

Knowledge (nobility) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 more info on the ir'Meravanchis?

Knowledge (nobility) 1d20+9 more info on the ir'Meravanchis?

"Horse?" Ardanto gasps, "You don't honestly think he is planning on bringing the horse?" Ardanto shakes his head in disbelief, "We don't have enough feed for a bloody horse!"

Avner Ir'Meravenchi

"Yes you! with that dreadful hat, lower that plank at once! At once I tell you!" He says fuming on his horse, his menservants seem to look a bit bored with the whole affair

Daurros

Spoiler:

The Meravanchis are a semi-notorious noble family, well known for risk taking with high payoffs. They have been involved in a few scandals of late, all to due with the same family member Avner ir'Meravanchis. Seems he is a well known barraged and womanizer, and the recent scandals have all involved married woman or daughters of more powerful noble family's

You also happen to know that his family funded almost of this expedition

Ardanto saunters over to the railing, "Oh dear me what a dreadful racket," he looks long and hard at Avner Ir'Meravenchi before continuing.

"I am sorry, but you can't bring that foul smelling, flee infested, noise bag onto my ship...." he pauses to let the words sink in and cuts off Avner's reply with "I was talking TO the horse."

"Now sir, if you would like to apologise to the crew, the other guests and my hat, I will lower the gang plank... Or alternatively you can sit on your horse looking like a fool, but this boat sails at the turn of the tide, with or with out you."

He stands waiting for an answer, hands on hips.

Daurros pulls Ardanto aside for a moment. "The ir'Meravanchis are a bit notorious; there've been a few scandals recently involving married nobles and/or their daughters. All involving this ... gentleman. Unfortunately, his family are the primary funds behind this trip; pissing him off before we even get underway may be a bad idea. Once we're at sea ..."

"Ahh, this makes sense, they are exiling him, getting out of the way while the scandal blows over." he smiles at Daurros, "if he has even half a brain, then he will apologise and get on the boat, otherwise he is going to have to head back to mommy and daddy and explain why he is not on the trip." Smiling to him self, he adds, "we can always cook the horse if rations are low."

"10 gold say he won't apologise. But Daurros has a point. If his family paid, we probably should get him on board. We could have gotten out if we sailed an hour ago, probably, but now? ..." the warforged speaks, coming close to Ardanto and Daurros.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn rolls his eyes at Ardanto's histrionics.

"We'll have the gangplank down in a moment, sir, but we're still in discussions regarding your horse," he calls down to the rake and his entourage.

Finn wrote:

"We'll have the gangplank down in a moment, sir, but we're still in discussions regarding your horse," he calls down to the rake and his entourage.

"Belay that order Mistress Venkalie, he does not set foot on the ship until he apologises and then we talk about the horse and the luggage." Ardanto snaps.

He looks at Finn and comments, "he didn't call you a lout" as an answer to his reasons for further antagonising the young noble man.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn lowers his voice: "I don't like his behaviour any more than you do, but if you wished to teach this fellow a lesson in humility, wouldn't it be better to do so on the open sea rather than here in port where he could order the ship to unload his family's cargo? That would spoil the whole expedition."

Toxim moves closer to Finn and Ardanto and whispers, "Captain, why not let him onboard to 'inspect his cabin' and while he's doing that we shove off with his stuff still on the dock? If he continues to be trouble while we're out at sea, you can adjust his attitude in a most proper manner."

"What? Nobody taking my bet?"

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"I'm not a sucker, Guard. He won't apologize."

Lord Ir'Meravenchi seems to turn a few shades at Ardanto's words. You can almost see him shack with Rage and Indignity "Apologize, apologize!" He bellows , turning yet another shade "You listen here you low born critien! You will lower that plank and you will do it now! Do you know who you talk to? I am Lord Avner Ir'Meravenchi, I have been sent by my family to oversee our investment on this trip and you sir" He says with a snear " Will lower that plank this once or refund my family's investment!'

His antics seem to not phase his man servants, but a few folks on the docks have stopped to take in the spectacle

Bloody post eater!

Ardanto smiles at the threats"You sir are acting like a buffoon, who does not deserve to breath the same air as the good people of this ship, I gave you a chance to earn your passage with a simple apology for your tardiness, and you have just thrown that chance back in my face with insults and threats" he turns and calls to the First Mate and bellows out, "make ready to sale Mistress Venkalie before we miss the tide!"

He then turns back to the horse riding idiot, "I suggest you take this last opportunity to apologise, other wise you are going to look very silly standing on the dock demanding your investment back while I sail off into the sunset." He smiles again, "So? Are you are real gentleman who can swallow his pride and admit he was wrong? Are you man enough to do that? What say yea?"

Now the boat will still be tied off on the dock with mooring ropes, but they can be reached with a single plank, not a loading plank. But that can cause problems, because if he tries to set foot on this boat with out an apology, I'll kick his scrawny seventies porn star face in. Ardanto really does not like him.

As the crew goes about ready the ship with a few uneasy looks,Avner glares at the ship "Apologize?" He snears "That will be a cold day! No If the Vanderborns can not hold a contact that will be for the council to invoke sanctions and repay a broken contract with ceased assets.' He says with a snide smile "If you wish to be treated like the low born rabble you are then by the sovereign host my family will be sure your known for the oath braking pirates you are, and treated as such!" He says with a yell

firefox+ lazarus and never loose a post again

Thoven steps forward placing a knowing hand on the shoulder of Ardanto." Allow the young master aboard, my captain." He states softly."Seeing as he shall not be man enough to swallow his pride, I plead that you are man enough to swallow yours. Once we are at sea we are bound only by the laws you declare on your vessel, but for now we must allow master Ir'Meravenchi to board, as it is a bound agreement made by Lavania." His hand slides from Ardanto's shoulder as he he begins to step away."I fear if you do not submit that there will be terrible repercussions for the Vanderboren estate and this very voyage." His eyebrows turn up and quiver slightly as he says this."Yield, My Captain."

Ardanto's reaction to the noble's threats earns him some huge points in Guards oppinion. Still, they are bound to Lavinia as she is to that noble's family.

"As much as I hate it, I think Lord Thoven is right. Let him get aboard, then place him in his chamber, where he can rot if he wants to." he speaks silently, so that Avner won't hear him.

Toxim says so that he can't be heard on land, "If you don't they may be able to take the colony away from Lavinia. That colony is her parents' legacy to her. Khyber Ardanto! I think you are in the right, we all do, but she's gone through so much already. Don't let your pride cause Lavinia more unnecessary hurt. And Guard is right. Once on board he is in your domain, Captain. You can punish him as you see fit and then he'd have no recourse. It would also serve to show that you are a reasonable and wise captain. The sort of man any able seaman would be proud to serve under."
Thinking to himself, I don't believe that I'm actually fighting to allow this overripe gasbag on board to travel with for three months.
