Karkalla |
Ardanto stops staring wistfully at the ship wreck and adds his comments "how about we ask the others what they want to do?" he asks, "it is all well and good us offering to leave people behind or to take them all with us, but some of them may have a preference." he looks straight at Avner as he makes the last comment.
"True but we have ta have a course of action before we can ask people if they want ta follow it or not."
Ardanto Valanto |
Ardanto looks at Karkella and answers, "I thought we had already agreed a plan of action, use magic to turn Urol back to flesh so we have an expert on the team, salvage everything off the ship and if she is not sea worthy, we walk."
He looks at the ship and shakes his head, "she does not look sea worthy to me and I doubt we will have all the necessary equipment here to make her so."
He stops talking long enough to douse his head under water and scrub it furiously to remove the remaining gore, he appears above the surface, his skin looking pink and tender despite the best efforts of Fathom. "I would like to thank you Fathom for tending to my wounds and the rest of you for saving me from becoming a meal, now shall we see what we can salvage from the Wyvern?"
Ardanto Valanto |
Ardanto nods at Finn and looks at the see uneasily himself, "if the lizards are that big, how big do the fish get?" he asks out loud, subconsciously checking his swords.
I am assuming we still have several hours of day light, if so I am going to head over to the ship with who ever wants to come.
"Shall we?" he asks, looking at Guard, Karkella and Fathom.
Finn Killshrike |
Ardanto nods at Finn and looks at the see uneasily himself, "if the lizards are that big, how big do the fish get?" he asks out loud, subconsciously checking his swords.
"Indeed. Beware of giant eels, like the one that killed Skald."
Keeper of Forbidden Lore |
Sorry for being a crappy Gm of late guys. I just had a lot going on.
Amella gets to organizing the crew as you sujested. Stripping meat from the dead lizard and looking out at the jungle with care. [b]"ye might be waning to see aboot th' weapons ocker" She says as she scans the treeline.
Avner cleaning sand from his once fine clothing says [b]"And thunder strike, you must see to him, if he is still alive anyhow. He is a fine breeding stallion, I paid good gold for him and will not see him left to be eaten by those things." He says pointing toward the lizard.
You guys will have to swim to the ship, some of ya will have easier ways to get there.
Once on board it is confirmed, that without the right tools and another ship and pulleys, the Sea Wyvern Is going no where. She has been hulled and only the reef really keeps her up, her main mast is also missing. Ardanto inspects his ship as the others look for supplies.
Thunderstrike, does yet live and is unhappy and untangled in the cargo bay,and one of the ships boats is still aboard, that will make the trip back easier and dryer. The garden gnome seems to be in tact as well, more or less. He seems to be missing a left ear and on of his fingers.
After looking her over Ardanto is convinced she can be salvaged. Not know, but the ship is not a total loss. Barring a massive storm that rips her off the reef, she should be fine. It'll take a crew and another ship, but he is sure the Sea Wyvern can be saved. Not that it helps you right this moment.
You are able to get food stuff, crew weapons and any other supplies you might thin you need that would be on board
Daurros
Daurros Erdai |
After his sojourn above the jungle, Daurros sets himself down among the crew and becomes visible again. As most of the MFs that's short for Millenium Falcons, of course ... are over on the Wyvern, he finds Finn and tells him what he saw [ooc](look at the spoiler).
"I'm guessing we may be going overland for a bit, unless the others come back with great news about fixing the boat. I'm no expert, but I think she'll be sitting on that reef for awhile. Besides, my guess is that we could cover the distance between here and Farshore in a few weeks at most; probably less."
Finn Killshrike |
Finn sighs. "A few weeks... I suppose we will have no choice but to travel together in one group. I don't fancy our chances if we split up; even with all of us fighting together, we almost lost Ardanto -- one of our finest warriors -- to that beast. If only we could get a message through to Lady Vanderboren!"

If only we could get a message through to Lady Vanderboren!"
"I do not relish the thought of leading this entire group trapsing through the jungle. They are all hardened sailors; you don't think they last for a few weeks on the beach while we get help?"
Toxim ir' Kinain |
"That would depend on how many of those things there are." Toxim says referring to the giant lizard that swallowd Ardanto. "I'd much rather lead a small, stealthy group through the jungle. However, where stealth is not likely or not likely to work, moving in numbers is best. The number of people and the noise we'll undoubtedly make will frighten away most animals. We'll only have to worry about the most determined things, which we'd have to worry about anyway."
Finn Killshrike |
"I do not relish the thought of leading this entire group trapsing through the jungle. They are all hardened sailors; you don't think they last for a few weeks on the beach while we get help?"
"As I said, if Ardanto is no match for the wildlife..." Finn pauses for a moment in thought. "Maybe there's a cave nearby that they could hole up in? But what if there are smaller dangers lurking about as well?"
Keeper of Forbidden Lore |
If you wish to search for a cave or other such area you may do so. That be a know geo check or maybe survival and might take a while
The group on the beach talk about options as they wait for the others to return, however some of the crew is uneasy and it seems the dead lizard is attracting scavengers.
Small chicken sized lizards seems to be gorging on the dead lizard, and not to shy to take a bite out of any crew that comes to near. Not that it stopped Morpere from stomping one to death and saying "Wonder if it tastes like chicken?" before tossing it back toward the camp.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore |
The lizard may be just to massive for you to haul away without some kinda of pully system or harnesses. And the critters are now coming in larger numbers. The crew is forced to pull back and coincide the carcass to the growing number of beasts.
You do have much daylight left, it still being before high sun. If you wish to send out groups or go to find shelter yourself, you may do so.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore |
With Daurros help, Toxim is able to find something. Not really a cave, but more a overhand of rock and vegetation. Signs of animal life abound, not just once did the small group have the feeling of something watching them. Small packs of the chicken-lizards can be seen, but they do not get to close to the group. They seem to stalk you maybe hoping to attack any stragglers.
Signs of the larger lizards are abound as well and something that looks to Toxim as large bird tracks, also in packs.
This spot might make a defensible camp with some work, but you are unsure just what all lurks out in the jungle, waiting.
Daurros Erdai |
Daurros tries to gather the other Falcons after whatever "dinner" ends up being. He will try and get the group together and separated from the crew to discuss what they're options are. "We need to finalize a plan for the morning. If we will lead the entire group, then we need to prepare everyone and get them packing as many supplies as can be carried. If we decide to leave them here, we need to make this camp defensible so that we do not return to find it empty of anything save bones."
Toxim ir' Kinain |
"I agree a plan needs to be made, but I disagree with putting it to a vote among the crew and passengers. Let's figure this out, then tell them what the plan is. For the record, I think it would be more efficient if just the Falcons went to get help, but I know that we would return to find most if not all of them dead. They would not be able to survive on this island. We have to take them with us."
Guard |
"I'm with Toxim on those points. We have to make that decision. Ardanto is captain.
And we will have to take the crew and passengers with us.
Also, even if Avner is a major ressource that funded the journey, he was never given any command over the ship or it's crew (as far as I know).
We need to establish the order of command, and we need to uphold it."
Ardanto Valanto |
Ardanto finds a comfortable spot under the overhang and settles down on some collected large leaves. He listens to the debate with interest and finally interjects. "The crew will probably follow me on land or sea, but here," he picks up a handful of dirt and lets it run through his fingers, "I am out of my depths, I am no land lubber and I know nothing of the jungles and the dangers we will face. Hell, I don't even know what is safe to eat and drink." He looks at the others meeting their eyes, "If any of you could lead better, then step forward now and grasp the reigns, I will gladly follow any one of you into the deepest pits of hell if you said you could get me through safely and any one of the crew or passengers worth a damn will also follow you."
With out going through all your skills, I am not sure if any of your characters has knowledge nature and/or survival. If so that person might be the one to take the lead in this section. Especially as my boy is being a handful still and eating up a lot of my free time so my posting is erratic.
Ardanto gently rubs the skull attached to his belt as he waits for the rest to decide who leads.
Finn Killshrike |
I imagine we're going to spend at least one day either preparing to leave (maybe gathering supplies from the wrecked ship or scrounging whatever we can from the jungle) or even more time building a shelter, so I think we'll be camping tonight.
Is anyone going to try to wake Urol up?
Daurros Erdai |
Daurros gives Ardanto a wack to the back of his head. "Don't you ever think? The crew follows the captain, whether on land or at sea. If we keep changing leaders back and forth, not only will they get confused, but their loyalty will suffer. You will lead, whether you like it or not!!"
Daurros calms a bit. "Besides, the leader does not have to have survival skills. He only needs to listen to those who do. I know the geography, Toxim has some survival skills. Every good leader has advisors. That is our job; yours is to get off your @ss and have these people follow you. Are we clear?"
A little later, Daurros agrees to finally try to revive Urol. Before unrolling the scroll, he looks to Toxim. "It's against my better judgement, but here goes nothing ..." Daurros reads the scroll of stone to flesh.
caster level check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
told ya so!!!!! You just had to know that would happen. So we gonna get a mishap now? ...
DC 5 Wisdom check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Now we get a 20! The irony is thick ...
Guard |
"You're still the only fancy captain we have. And that position fits you so well.
Now, I think it would be best to give the crew a little speech of yours, telling them how we are going to survive this mess, by heading south on land and finding help in the colony." Guard points out, underlining Daurros words as best he can.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore |
Ok I didn't know the site would be down yesterday for maintenance and couldn't get online last night
As the MF's argue over who is in charge, Amella leads the crew in salvaging what they can. Duarros goes off to try and revive urol, but is unsuccessful in doing so.
so camping for the night in the spot Toxim found or trying to cover some ground?
