Does Silverfall of Sturmwatch have more crime? Which one is closer to the border with Keddenmark? What kind of materials are illegal in Nivmadas?

Just trying to flesh out Jevon in my head. I think he only draws the line at trafficking flesh, but would like to know more about the setting first.

Edit: Is gunslinger an acceptable class?

Urban Barbarian 1/Musket Master 2 (HP 31 | AC 20 | T 14 | FF 16 | CMD 18 | F +7 | R +5 | W +1 | Init +3 | Per +7

Crunch added to profile. Only thing missing is a description of his appearance, which I will add later.

I will be adding in the towns and regional information bit by bit as I complete the town statblocks. Right away I can let you know that Sturmwatch has more crime as Silverfall is one of the seats of the Church of Eveldine.

EDIT: And yes, Gunslinger is acceptable. I do like Ultimate Combat so it's no problem to me. I will note this choice to provide sufficient times for gun repairs, bullet creation and finding additional firearms.

I would just ask that if you use an archetype, you stick to one. Mysterious Stranger/Pistolero has been an issue before in my group.

M Human 1 Mnk 2Sorc [AC 16/20 CMD17] [F3R6W7] [HP16]

Actually I didnt even consider that, I may need a rngd backup weapon and guns would fit nicely. probably would be just a backup and dont have the feat, but I can take that later, not like I would use it that often and if we have a gunslinger then he can fix it for me if it breaks.

What lvl of guns though. I will buy a pistol for now if I have enough but need to know what types are available

M Human 1 Mnk 2Sorc [AC 16/20 CMD17] [F3R6W7] [HP16]

Nevermind, wont have gold for that for awhile. Guess if I cant get to the enemy Ill just hide behind our gunslinger. :)

On the Subject of Firearms

Firearms are not unheard of throughout Arcavelon and both Nivmadas and Keddenmark forge them. Of particular note is Stein-by-the-Sea, a small settlement on the coasts of Keddenmark renowned for its efficient weapons production.

All Early Firearms are available for sale at the listed price.

I will be using a mix of Emerging and Commonplace. Prices remain unchanged but firearms become Martial Weapons.

Emerging + Commonplace Guns: While still expensive and tricky to wield, early firearms are readily available. Instead of requiring the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat, all firearms are martial weapons.

Jevon:
Forgot to add that the map is posted in the Description. As for illegal substances, they range from poisons and drugs to slaves and demonic substances of any kind.

Human Witch 3 | HP 20/20

Aldus is from Nivmadas.

Can we get the description of the various religions added to the Campaign Info when it's finished? I'm definitely curious about it.

some character-specific questions

Spoiler:

I listed the book, the ring and the flag as the objects in the chest. Can you give me descriptions of the ring and the flag? Also, should there be anything else in the chest besides those objects?

The village of Montecalme sounds fine to me. Would grail-seekers/bandits come through there? My backstory assumes that Leon's home and family were wiped out as a direct result of the new grail quest.

My basic character idea is essentially King Arthur. Born to be king, but raised as a peasant, but taught right and wrong by a kindly old man full of legends. He is essentially an ideal knight, only without a liege or order. Would it be possible to have something that acted like a Phylactery of Faithfulness? Maybe a book written by/about Saint Eveldine detailing her thoughts and beliefs about morality and knighthood? That way if I ever did anything against her code (since I don't actually know what it is) you could have me "remember a passage from the book" to keep from screwing up.

I've updated my background in my alias. Feel free to nitpick/add anything.

Working on equipment tonight. Should be done then.

Looks great my friend. This gives me a lot to work with and I appreciate the effort. When you get the chance you can get your entrance into the Tavern done in the Campaign section before Friday if you want.

HP 22/25, AC 20, F +4, Ref +2, W +1, Init +1

Done.

As a warning, this week and next week I'll be away from a computer from friday to sunday. After thursday night I probably won't be able to post until sunday night or monday.

Thank you for warning me in advance. If the situation arises where I need your character in action during this time I will make appropriate actions but it shouldn't come to that.

For situations in which we may not know what action our character will take until after we see the result of a roll, should we post separately for the check and the action, or just edit/post again as we see fit?

Koldir Shadowhammer wrote:

I suggest we Edit to reduce multiple posts. Just make it clear that an Edit was made as I have a tendency to be online often and update quickly. I'll give a bit of time between posts and refresh before replying to make sure I don't miss updated information.

Urban Barbarian 1/Musket Master 2 (HP 31 | AC 20 | T 14 | FF 16 | CMD 18 | F +7 | R +5 | W +1 | Init +3 | Per +7

Well, right now all I could afford was a club and a sling. Damn barbarian's salary. Definitely saving up for a gun though, who knows if EXP or GP will put it in my hand first.

I am planning on going Mysterious Stranger for most if not all of my ensuing levels. Was going to use the exact archetypes you said you've had problems with, but using only one is fine :P

Also added a short appearance description to my profile, he was built based on the Avatar pic though, so he looks like that.

Off to post my first gameplay post~ Thanks for the quick responses DM Matt really looking forward to this.

PS: If you wanna see what your roll is going to be just hit Preview, it won't change from what you see there. No need to edit.

Good to know, Jevon, thanks.

Thanks for the information, it'll be that much easier for everyone. As well, I have a lot of free time these days ans I work a lot on my laptop, therefore I refresh this page every 15 minutes or so when able.

Jevon:
As you have shown interest in firearms I've taken this into account and will be making necessary modifications to make sure the opportunity to either purchase or obtain one is presented.

Koldir takes another look around the tavern, specifically looking for the "fellows of stature" he has heard about. Feeling awkward in such an overwhelmingly social situation, he looks for a table out of the way, to sit while watching those that enter, the others who have been accepted into the Seekers, and the malcontents he saw upon entering.

I wonder what the Captain meant by Grail Hunters, that seems like exactly what the Seekers are... Well, I won't be able to help anything without an idea of what's going on.

Perception check for general watching of the room, picking out the more impressive people, and keeping an eye on the rejects.

1d20+8

A couple of formatting tips you might not know-

When adding [ dice ] brackets, you can throw in a descriptor like this:

[ dice=perception, watching the room, picking out people, eyeballing rejects]1d20+stuff[ /dice ]

The equals sign is the important part. It puts everything into green text, which denotes it as a dice roll descriptor. Looks like this-

perception, watching the room, picking out people, eyeballing rejects: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

If you don't want to do that, you can always put the out of game description in [ ooc ] brackets for blue text

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up Leon!

Are there any non-addictive recreational drugs besides Alcohol in your world. Ie. something like weed? His father was an alchie so he doesn't drink, but he's definitely a man with vices.

There are the addictive ones here but as for non-recreational substances besides alcohol there are the usual kind used for smoking and I don't mean the occasional pipe. Though frankly I hadn't thought about that part of the campaign setting just yet.

Urban Barbarian 1/Musket Master 2 (HP 31 | AC 20 | T 14 | FF 16 | CMD 18 | F +7 | R +5 | W +1 | Init +3 | Per +7

Don't worry, it's not gonna be a major part of the character or anything. Just something for him to do while everyone else is drinking.

Alright then, you're welcome to come up a name for your vice if you wish.

No problem. I've been PBPing here for a couple years, and I only just learned about greentexting a couple months ago. It's not something that gets use in many games, so it doesn't seem to spread.

I love those kinds of formatting tricks. They make the game look really clean and readable.

Another note about greentext-

You cannot resolve dice rolls in your alias description.

That means that you can fully code dice for skills, saves and attack rolls, and then just copy and paste out of your sheet.

Take a look at my character sheet if you want to see what it looks like. It takes a while in the beginning, but I find it saves a lot of time later.

Ahh, thanks Leon, I'm new to this.

EDIT: Also in the "I'm new to this" vein, I accidentally posted with a different alias before switching this one to default. I deleted the post, but he's now showing up as a character in the players/characters tab. Not a big deal, just letting you know if you were wondering why there's an extra person.

Thanks Koldir. Don't worry I had already noticed before you changed alias. Not a problem at all.

My bad, I have modified the sharing settings accordingly. Thanks for letting me know. The map itself shows only settlements for now. As the campaign progresses I'll update it with discovered locations and major locales.

Urban Barbarian 1/Musket Master 2 (HP 31 | AC 20 | T 14 | FF 16 | CMD 18 | F +7 | R +5 | W +1 | Init +3 | Per +7

Okay, works great now. Thank you. I assume the ones labeled Nivmadas and Keddemark are Silverfall and Cavenies?

I know the game hasn't really started yet but damn dude. You are the best PBP DM I've had so far, if only just for sheer speed. I'm grinning IRL right now.

Male Dwarf Cleric 2, [hp 19][AC 20][CMD 15][Fortitude +5][Reflex +2][Will +7][Initiative +4][Perception +10]

I second that grin!

EDIT: Is it alright if I change Koldir's alignment from Neutral Good to Neutral? He'd still have good tendencies (channel positive energy, try to be polite and helpful where it's not detrimental to him), but I think he still has too much of the streets and his old habits left to qualify as truly good. A character working towards becoming good is more fun than one already there, methinks.

I'll take that to heart and yes, Keddenmark and Nivmadas labels are indeed Silverfall and Cavenies. I'm going to change them just to clarify.

And well, thanks again for the speed comment. I try and give feedback as fast as I can to not drag things down.

HP 22/25, AC 20, F +4, Ref +2, W +1, Init +1

Thirded. The ball is certainly rolling fast on this one. Loving it so far.

For anyone who's new-ish to PBP gaming, here's a primer that might help and give you some ideas.

I can let you know that past 2h in the morning I can't promise I'll still be alive and able to post on account of me not being able to type while asleep.

EDIT: And thank you for sharing your primer, this is greatly useful.

M Human 1 Mnk 2Sorc [AC 16/20 CMD17] [F3R6W7] [HP16]

Koldir if you post with wrong alias you can edit then select the correct one. It will still show in players tab but you dont have to delete and repost.

I end up using that alot myself.

Jlord here.

Here is the bard I was talking about. Only crunch right now, but will try to have a background and personality up shortly.

If you would rather me play Andreas the barbarian whom I originally posted, I understand, just let me know.

Nope, not a problem. Thanks for letting me know ahead of time. In fact, we were missing some spellcasting and bards will have a good place in this campaign. I'll update the characters section.

Koldir: No problem whatsoever.

Everyone: The game officially starts Friday evening so until then your characters can still be changed though after I declare the official game begun, I'd appreciate no modification of characters unless it's gaining levels.

Matt: Would you like us all to put combat information in the class/levels section like Leylyn and Leon? seems like it could be useful.

Leylyn: Oh goodness, I'm not sure if I can deal with Pinkie Pie the bard... XD

Also, as long as we're detailing our characters' sexual orientations, Koldir is gay, and it's entirely possible he actually was fancying Jevon's bum, although subconsciously.

Urban Barbarian 1/Musket Master 2 (HP 31 | AC 20 | T 14 | FF 16 | CMD 18 | F +7 | R +5 | W +1 | Init +3 | Per +7

Jevon's not particularly picky, but prefers girls. Anything with a male would never go beyond carnal gratification. And Koldir is certianly not his type :P He's just the kind of guy who thinks everyone fancies him.

Male Dwarf Cleric 2, [hp 19][AC 20][CMD 15][Fortitude +5][Reflex +2][Will +7][Initiative +4][Perception +10]

It's doubtful Koldir is anyone's type... D:

Well, it looks like I've got quite group here. So far every single one of you has a great backstory that fits perfectly well into this campaign. I can't wait to start!

I just noticed the discussion thread :-).

So now I will post here too ^_^!

I have been reading the introductions in the gameplay thread, and it's all narrative sweetness (meaning I enjoyed reading them very much).

Like I said in the recruitment thread, I have finished the crunchy bits of my character, and I will post the stats of his mount (and its equipement) tomorrow.

It always take me forever to do the crunch (thank God for PCGen or else I would never have enough time to play !)...

See you all later, the night is getting old at home :-D !

N.B
You may have noticed many emoticons in this here post. The main reason I used them is to lighten the mood of my prose: when I look at my avatar, right there in the upper left corner of this little box, sometimes I grow afraid (of) myself x-).

male human cavalier 3 [hp 26/26] [AC 17, touch 12, flat-footed 15 (+5 armor, +2 Dex)] [Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +1 ] [Init +2] [Perception +2 ] [CMD 18]

Hem... well... I just changed my character's avatar.

I figured it was okay considering I hadn't yet introduced Baster in the gameplay thread.

I realized I couldn't stand the previous avatar anymore !

The new one seems to me to have a much wider emotional palette.

Have a nice day :-).

Actually, Jevon is 1st level and has no Wis modifier, so the DC to intimidate him should be 11.

EDIT: intimidate is a sorta weird skill though, and he's a six-foot tall barbarian who grew up in a gang... we should probably wait for a ruling on that one.

Except that he's a PC. The intimidate rules are for NPC reactions. Some GMs houserule that social skills can be used on PCs, but it's not RAW.

PCs basically just decide how they respond to things using any rolls as a guideline.

Edit: To clarify, adding status effects does work on PCs. Influencing reactions doesn't. Intimidate can make PCs Shaken, it just can't take away behavior-based choices.

Male Dwarf Cleric 2, [hp 19][AC 20][CMD 15][Fortitude +5][Reflex +2][Will +7][Initiative +4][Perception +10]

Yeah, the second comment about him being friendly was tongue in cheek. I've always played it that if an NPC wants to frighten a PC they make an intimidate check, and the player is told (if the check succeeds) that the NPC is really friggin' scary, to be RPed as needed.
