"Can me have the other magic knife?" the small dagger +1 would be a nice match to his other one ...

Sorry, N'Djamena needs it for shaving his head.

I want either the Ring of protection or the amulet of natural armor!

Grand Lodge

How much time do we have to recuperate? Did you do the identification rolls? Wasn't there more levels to this place?

List o' loot.

==Gnoll gear x 30==
-Leather armor
-heavy wooden shield
-battleaxe
-longbow{+2 str}
-15 arrows
300 Gp in assorted Gems and coins.

-Magic ring
-potion of CMW
-unknown potion.

==Kadswann==
-MW breastplate

*Chest with 4 gems and 3'459 gp in assorted coins.

==Also==
Ring of protection+1
cloak of resistance +1
small sized dagger +1
MW chainmail {human sized}
wand of bull str
amulet of natural armor +1{looks to be a cats tooth}

Bandages of rapid recovery (x3)
belt of giant str(+2)
pearl of power (1st )

Osirion

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

The place has three levels, some stuff was owned by the human "shop" keepers. I just counted loot from rooms and the dead.

I also did not do rolls but just named the random loot found in chests and the armory.

Sorry, N'Djamena needs it for shaving his head.

Vrealk volunteers to perform that function for you, if he can keep the dagger between head shaves!

Grand Lodge

- Do I have time to identify everything? With the spell and Taking 10, I have a 31 to identify.

- Is Dashki's stuff included in the list. Kelden would like a souvenir of his treachery/stupidity.

Male Human Cleric 5

I think we're pretty much done here (aside from talking to the harpy, perhaps). I think the plan is to return to Princess Whats-her-face with the unconscious body of Kardswann and then investigate the ruined temple further.

Okay, you convinced me; Vrealk can have the dagger. ;-)

N'Djamena will take the cloak of resistance, if there are no objections.

Osirion

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok unnamed items

Gnoll

Ring of feather fall
Potion of expeditious retreat

Kadswann

Greatax +1 Lawful, outsider bane {templar weapon}

Grand Lodge

I presume N'Djamena will want to keep Kadswann's gear for when he gets better? Because I am drooling over that big axe.

I'd like the belt of giant strength

Note: I think Markhet should get the wand of bull strength for use on Larrs. Just a thought.

Male Human Cleric 5

We can decide the ultimate fate of Kardswann's axe for if/when he gets better. Certainly you can use it for now.

Grand Lodge

Seeker, what do you mean by a templar weapon?
Should that be
Greataxe +1, lawful outsider bane?
or
Greataxe +1, outsider bane, axiomatic?

I figure the first, but hope for the second.

Male Human Cleric 5

I assume that a similar weapon is used by all the templars of the Five Winds.

Grand Lodge

Who are they? I don't recall them.

Male Human Cleric 5

Seeker mentioned a little bit about this group in some of the spoiler blocks to N'Djamena, but not a whole lot. You can go look for some of them and assume that N'Djamena explained the contents to the group, but here's my understanding:

You may not remember, but there were some statues dedicated to some hero-guy in the ruined temple. He was associated somehow to a group called the Templars of the Five Winds; in N'Djamena's dream, they were fighting against some other group. Apparently this Kardswann was associated with that group as well.

(Seeker can correct any mistakes in my understanding.)

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

I'm thinking we can just assume we sell the gear and gems? Get a gp total and divide it?

For the magic items, I've got:
Greatax +1 Lawful, outsider bane - Kelden
cloak of resistance +1 - N'Djamena
small sized dagger +1 - Vrealk
amulet of natural armor +1{looks to be a cats tooth} - Markhet
belt of giant str(+2) - Kelden

Leaving:
potion of CMW x3
potion of expeditious retreat
Ring of protection+1
wand of bull str
small sized cloak of charisma
Bandages of rapid recovery (x3)
pearl of power (1st )

My thoughts:
cloak of charisma to Celena, wand to Markhet, ring of protection to Ayish, pearl of power to either Ayish or N'Djamena, cmw potions and bandages split between N'Djamena and Ayish. Vrealk will take the potion of expeditious retreat, if no one else wants it. Let me get in those flanking spots quicker ...

Osirion

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Well you will not be able to sell the gear for now. The town will thrive in time and the battlemarket as well as its stalls will open and trade will pour into the city.

However this will not happen in two days time. The harpy use potions with her machine as well, which double the duration of the potion.

As for the Templar, well what you guys do know is at some point two Genie armies went to war. One side was lead by Immortal Jann called the templars of the five winds. Of those you have found two, One is kinda possessing N'Djamerna. He was a ghost then got destroyed so now is a mold infecting the cleric. which sometimes acts though N'Djamnia and lead him to his weapon.

The older seems to be Kadswann, who seems to have fallen from graces and may be possessed by something.

The Axe, much like tempest N'Djamerna wields is not forged upon Golarion, but the elemental plans. It should be fairly clear to anyone that the metal is " wrong". It is a weapon not forged by mortal hands really and is one of the unique weapons held by the Templar.

Grand Lodge

If I'm to use the axe, Celena should get the belt of giant strength. The small sized cloak of charisma only makes sense for her too.
I'd like a cure potion for myself. There are times when it's not feasible to get one of our healers to help.

The Templars of the Five Winds you say? That is interesting. I'll have to research them some I think.

Makes sense. Not a lot else for Celena, and it did seem like she was a little shortchanged (no pun intended).

Still looking in and posting when and where I can.

Hopefully home computer will be back after the week end and lots of cleaning and bug scrubbing. *Bows*

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Im quite happy to take the cloak and (if everyone else is definitely okay with it) the belt

Grand Lodge

Seeker, is Dashki's stuff included in this list? There are 4 gems included in the stuff from the battlemarket. How much are they worth?

After selling all of the mundane stuff adding in cash we have 14300 GP (I did some rounding to make the math simpler). I realize that we can't get this right away, Seeker, but I wanted to get this part of the bookkeeping done.

That leaves us with...

MW breastplate Kadswann's
magical greataxe Kelden (Kadswann)
potion of expeditious retreat Vrealk
Ring of protection+1 Ayish
cloak of resistance +1 N'Djamena
small sized dagger +1 Vrealk
wand of bull str Market
amulet of natural armor +1{looks to be a cats tooth} Market
small sized clock of charisma Celena
belt of giant str(+2) Celena
pearl of power (1st )Ayish
potion of CMW Kelden
potion of CMW(x2)
Bandages of rapid recovery (x3)
Ring of Featherfall

Do I have it right so far? Any more thoughts on the last few items?

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Not too be too pedantic, but how big is the Clock that Celena is going to be carrying?

Pocket watch? Wrist Watch? Coat Fob-watch?

Though it does seem to be such a pretty clock. =)

Osirion

Doh!,No, I had forgotten Dashki

2potions of CLW
+1 Leather armor
MW scimitar
MW Dagger
Short bow
20 arrows

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Yay! Stinky, Gnoll smelling of +1 Leather armor!

How many 'Prestidigitations' and other spells/effects to get it even part way descent to wear? ;)

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Not really anyone that can use the leather, anyway. Too big for Vrealk, and would cause arcane spell failure for Ayish and Kelden. N'Djamena could wear it, but his armor is already better. I'm guessing we'd be best off selling once we can.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

That's assuming we can get the smell out! :P

=0)

Ayish wouldn't mind wearing a little bit more protection for a while, at least. :P To help keep her insides...inside...

Still, selling and getting money in the 'New' battle market might be a good thing.

Grand Lodge

Dashki was a human. He did hang around gnolls though. I'd like to keep his scimitar as a memento. Someone could use the CLW potions and we sell the rest.

Osirion

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok guys ran out of time this morning, will update and get us moving when I get home this evening.

Male Human Cleric 5

Hang on a sec -- you mean N'Djamena thought he was getting divine inspiration straight from Nethys and it turns out he just has a moldy brain!? That's got to put a damper on his religious fervor. ;-)

Vrealk, could you use a healing potion? I think it's important that everyone have a healing potion and that goes double for those of us that can't do cures.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Sounds/Looks good to me. =)

Grand Lodge

I just realized that Haleen was a great help during that battle. She should benefit from it as well. Is there an item she would like?

Osirion

Sorry guys have had issues, my water heater died and they never go easy. So it kinda flooded the house, not knowing it was busted for near 20 hours and all before I came home. I have been super busy the last few days messing with cleanup and repairing damage I'll try and get something up tonight or tomorrowish if at all possible.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Hey, take all the time you want, mate.

Real Life always throws curves. I understand, and am happy to wait until things settle down again for you.

Grand Lodge

Seeker

Spoiler:

Since there seems to be no objections, I'll go with what we have. I'll note the remaining items on Kelden's sheet in case someone wants to claim something or we have use for it later.

Everyone gets 2500 gp. We don't have anywhere to spend it now, but note it on your sheet for when can.

Vrealk
potion of expeditious retreat
small sized dagger +1
potion of cmw (I know you didn't ask for it. Just take it and be happy)

Ayish
Ring of protection+1
pearl of power (1st)

N'Djamena
cloak of resistance +1

Market
wand of bull str
amulet of natural armor +1{looks to be a cats tooth}

Celena
small sized cloak of charisma +2

*Bows* The next time we have 'Time' available in the town/battle market etc I'll work out the cost of transcribing them. Much thanks.

Male Human Cleric 5

Guy/Markhet -- I don't think it's out of line for a party of 4th level characters to be fighting something that's CR 6 or 7; outsiders that tough will have high ACs and DR almost by default, not to mention annoying spell-like abilities and/or special attacks. That shouldn't be particularly surprising.

Having said that, I think we are a bit handicapped by having equipment unavailable. For instance, if we had better armor, the bad guy probably wouldn't be doing 30+ points of damage to us every round...

Male Human Cleric 5

By the way, I read some comments about this module when it first came out, and it seemed that a lot of people thought that this was quite a difficult encounter. So you're not alone in thinking so, Guy.

Also to be fair Celena has had some atrocious luck with the confusion (not had a single act normally the entire fight) and having failed 3 will saves in a row

well my character is out of tricks. Larrs does 1d6+3 damaage on his bite, with DR 10 he can't hurt it, with DR 5 I need to roll a 3 or better to do a single point. Max damage is 4 points. Max claw damage with a DR 5 is 2. DR5 makes this an overwhelming encounter for me, DR 10 makes this an impossible encounter.

So I guess I should just be rolling for 20s from now on? No criticals no damage? I'm loosing the flank with the air elemental soon so Larrs will need to be rolling 14s or 15s to even hit it from here on out.

Kevin Mack wrote:

If the only way Markhet can survive the encounter is if the party paladin can make a save there's not much point in me playing is there? I mean I like everyone's characters and all but I don't want my survivability to hinge on someone else making a save so they can play superman. I wish your character was helping us in this fight, and this is indeed where a fighter/barbarian/paladin should shine, but I should be able to do something as well. I'm starting to think that all I'm providing is some extra hp for the monster to burn through.

Osirion

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok, I have been trying to decide what to right here, so I am just gonna be honest. It gets a bit old to have some folks cry foul when a combat is not a cake walk. Not every character will do well with every foe.

This fight was made for a party of 4 with a 15 point buy, you guys are doing pretty damned well really. You guys are APL 5, this fight is well within your ability to beat, some of you are not geared to this kind of fight others are. Some of you have rolled like crap, some have rolled well. Some of you have not done some things that you could have that would have helped.

Guy I am sorry you feel that way, but you did build markhet they way she is. You made it so she was dependent upon larrs to be the weapon and damage dealer. Most of this adventure that has worked out well, but this time it didn't, she is on his back, while he rolls around the floor. She can cast, she should have most of her spells left, but that does bring an AoO and other issues as, well Larrs is rolling around on the floor.

I am simply not gonna nerf every foe or fight because some of you are not optimized for that fight.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

*Reads back over every one's discussion*

I have nothing to add to any pat of this chat. I'm happy to play Ayish and I am kind of sorry she doesn't seem to be pulling her weight. Here's to hoping/thinking we'll win the fight, like the good guys do and we'll see what the future of the module holds.

*Bows*

I usually feel a lot better 'talking to people in real time' sich as the chat room. *bows*

I think the usual thing to do (going forward) is to memorize Magic Fang or something like that.

Taldor

Male hu-man Paladin
N'Djamena wrote:

Markhet has magic fang memorized. It's one of the two useless spells she has memorized. It would add +1 to the attack and damage but I will quickly remind everyone that it doesn't overcome cold iron or good. Demons have DR vs cold iron or good, sometimes you need both, and I don't think druids have spells or abilities to over come that. I know we don't get align weapon.

I'm not sure I understand your comments seekerofshadowlight, if Markhet had a 16 STR she would still deal less damage then Larrs, a hulk of a Markhet would strike once for 1d6+3, Larrs can hit up to three times for 1d6+1, 1d4+1, and 1d4+1 with a possible 1d4+1 rake. Right now a Larrs has bulls strength and is hitting with the equivalent of a 16 STR Markhet. A melee Markhet would be just as useless as a spell casting Markhet.

I suppose if I'd made Markhet human and given her an 18 STR and a two handed weapon I'd be more effective against DR. The big problem is Markhet doesn't have any equipment, spells, or abilities to overcome this monster. Vrealk might get a back stab in, Celena can smite, N'Djamena has a magical weapon that might hurt this thing (he certainly has access to align weapon), Kelden with his size and big ax might be able to overcome DR through pure power (supposing he can hit), Ayish's bardic performances are a huge help no matter what we fight, but Markhet is distinctly nerfed.

I haven't said a peep this fight until someone suggested that this thing might have DR. At that point I got upset because I discovered that everything I'd done up to that point could have been completely moot. If this thing has DR I'll leave it to everyone else to fight. I'm sure it can take it's time to kill off my character as there's absolutely nothing I can do to harm it.
