Alset and Ood, are you physically interacting with them? Or just looking at them curiously with your hand on your chin going "Hmm..."?

Stonewall grabs the brown bag and feels a hollow, empty space inside. He quickly pulls out 6 small vials of liquid. One is pale amber, but thick and viscious, and the other 5 are opaque white.

Using your Perception checks for the vials, Ood and Alset...

Alset recognizes:

The amber vial as Sovereign Glue, able to permanently link any two objects together. It has 3 uses left. The other 5 vials are Universal Solvent, the antithesis of Sovereign Glue, other adhesives, and, what do you know, tanglefoot bags.

Stonewall doesn’t even seem to hear the others, he is engrossed in the bags, ”Interesting.”. Stonewall grabs the sovereign glue and 3 of the universal solvents. Then he drops his flail into the bag and sees if there is a weight change.

Stonewall actually has an Int of 13 so this is right up his alley!

Alset has a 10 Int, but a 13 Wis. So, sometimes the intelligent thing (testing the bag) isn't done in the wisest manner (see the rock). No sarcasm or disrespect intended. I work with lots of PhDs, who are way smarter than the average guy, and they can't find their way out of a box, but they understand the intricacies of molecular disease structures. That's why groups and teams function better. If it wasn't for us, Odie would have been dead many times by now. Do we have a group name? We need one.

Alset noticing the gloppy, soaking ground in which they are standing and knowing that another session of boot cleaning is in store suggests, "How about Mud Men? All we've done since we've arrived seems to have been wading around in muddy streets and trails. And, besides, our new halfling buddy, Muhdzuzi, likes to be called 'Mud'. Can you think of a better name? I thought of The Storm Front, but I think that's already been taken.

Alset realizes the error of his earlier thinking. He incorrectly assumed that the word "men" referred only to humans, but now realizes the arrogance of his ways, (forgive him Iomedae), and knows that "men" are the male of any species. Alset has humbly repented.

"The Muddy Marauding Maritime Marines"

Stonewall's flails drops into the black confines of the bag. Nothing appears to happen. The bag weighs the same. He reaches back in to pull it out and finds his flail, unchanged. The rock has the same effect.

This is a bag of holding.

The red and white hands bag, the gray pawprint bag, and the horse bag remain.

Feel free to put a list of the order you do things, like: Put the rock in. If nothing crazy happens, put the flail in. If nothing crazy happens, put this rat I just found inside. If nothing crazy happens, dig around with my hand and see what I can pull out. Or try putting a gauntlet on, or a fishing pole...

About how much does it weigh?

Stonewall says, ”Oh, how about the Muddy Marines?”

Stonewall turns his attention to red and white hands bag. First he checks to see if there is anything in it. Then he checks to see what happens if he drops a rock into the bag to see what happens.

He uses this technique on all of the bags.

It weighs 15 lbs., regardless of how much is put inside.

Inside the red and white bag he can see a ring. The rock drops in, but nothing happens to it.

Inside the gray bag is a small puff ball that could fit in the palm of your hand, nothing else inside. It weighs around 5 lbs.

Inside the tan bag, Stonewall is immediately hit with the stink of a latrine, with what looks like nothing other than dung inside. It weighs around 4 lbs.

None of the bags react when a stone is dropped in, but reaching in to grab it may be a different story.

Mud's Mud-Buds.

The pot bubbles and begins to die down, the fire beneath it going out in the slight drizzle of rain.

The ring shines with a pale orange glow, a design of a feast encircling the inner and outer band.

Ood recognize it as a Ring of Sustenance.

Stonewall tosses the small puff ball to the ground, and a bat pops into its place.

*squeak squeak squeak* the bat says, fluttering around the pot.

This is the Gray Bag of Tricks. The bat will stay around for 10 minutes, obeying commands of the Handle Animal skill. LINK

The contents of the bag plop onto the ground. Enough dung fall out to cover about a 20 ft. square of land. Sifting through it, Stonewall finds the contents are quite pure and useful for fertilizing. The smell reminds him of a stable or farmland. This is a: Bag of Everlasting Dung.

Stonewall you still have to use the skill, ha ha.

Also seems fitting for a monk to give up eating and sleeping.

Stonewall looks at the pot and tries to determine what it is. Is it food or a new potion? What does it smell like? Is it lumpy or stew-like?

just had a thought. Could Ood use the dung as an improvised thrown weapon that causes Nausea or something? Haha

The pot, now cooled, is a thick and sludgy liquid. As Stonewall stirs the pot, strips of muscle and flesh float to the surface, bones clacking in the bottom. The smell reeks of a recently deceased body. As Stonewall realizes in horror that these bagmen eat and kill children, he sees a tiny five-fingered scrap of meat float to the surface.

In horror, Stonewall pulls it out, realizing they've let the pot boil for far too long and whatever living thing was placed in there is living no more. Tipping the pot over, you see (thank the gods) it was not a child or even humanoid, but a scrawny cat with white fur that has been boiled alive.

Thunder claps overhead. The sun is cloaked by stormclouds in the west again. Tomorrow morning is the meeting with Count Narsus and Sheriff Adaela about what to do with the lizardfolk problem. The four of walk the short distance back to town proper to deal with your new bags and other... revelations as you see fit.

Around town there is no word of missing children. All young ones are accounted for.

Mirya and the old man are glad that you found the bags, though they know nothing of any creepy bagmen. "Sounds like you young whippersnappers were the right ones to go after that old bag of tricks," the old man says. "I'd have been eaten. Or something. My old mate will be glad someone else found a use for the bag."

When you stop by to show Mirya her bag, she seems to have forgotten it was even hers to begin with.

If you ask around town, no one else has heard about the other two bags. If you try to sell them, even Mirya and her eccentricities is not interested in buying a magical bag of dung.

Anything else you want to do this evening? Otherwise we'll move onto the Town Council meeting tomorrow morning in game. You four plan on meeting at the Narsus Estate, which is a large manor house overlooking the forest and town just east in a separate walled-in section.

Stonewall asks Mirya if she knows what the red and white hang bag is, also if she can appraise their other new items.

He then heads over to talk to Forthingr to see if he has any silver or cold iron weapons in stock.

Alset finds Maso Wangoma distraught over the loss of his cat; apparently he was the one being cooked in the stew, as the bagmen were unable to procure any children, they thought a cat would suffice. Maso creates a small funeral for the cat, burning what remains of her (burying is not done in Pridon's Hearth, due to flooding). He appreciates any words Alset would have to say, even if it is for a silly cat.

Mirya does not know what the the red and white bag is, but is helpful with the remaining items. I don't think there's anything left to identify...? If not let me know.

Forthingr has silver and cold iron weapons. Cold iron is quite cheap, and he keeps a stock of all martial and simple weapons in cold iron (one of each), and for silver he has all light simple and martial weapons for sale, but nothing bigger. These are all available at regular price. He can get any larger weapon in either metal from a shipment from Eledar in Sargava if they're willing to wait a week.

The night passes uneventfully, otherwise.

The morning is hot and humid, storm clouds scattering out west over the ocean. The Narsus Estate sits on a hill to the east, jungle encroaching right up to the walls and rutted path leading to the estate. This building is the largest in town, made of wood but exquisitely carved columns and balconies overlooking the town and the Forest.

A guard lets you into the building, which is nice and cool, various fountains and pockets of magical ice cooling the rooms inside. You wind through hallways and see the wealth is for display only: side rooms are covered in mold or are half-finished, loose boards and construction material scattered about. The guard leads you to a spacious room with a large mahogany table and four individuals seated around it. One is a middle aged man with graying hair and spectacles, the gold chain of office around his neck. Next to him is red-haired woman you've not seen before, and across from her is Banker Valdra. Sheriff Adaela sits beside her with her arms folded, brow furrowed.

As the sheriff sees you, see looks relieved. "Ah, there they are, Count. These four investigated the fort and saved Island Town from flooding. They have much to say about recent events. We should thank the... what do you call yourselves now? "

The Count stands up to address the Muddy Marines. He wears the gray robes of his office as count, a chain of the Sargavan crest around his neck. Gold-rimmed spectacles enlarge his eyes and his graying black hair is disheveled. His voice is nasally, as if he has a constant cold, and he pushes up his glasses when he addresses you. "I am Count Lethar Narsus. Pleasure to meet you, yes. I apologize for not meeting you when you were new arrivals on the dock. We had a troll and, it seems, a few bagmen in the woods, hmm? Can't be too careful, yes?"

He adjusts his glasses before continuing, "As a reward for the role the Muddy Marines played in saving Pridon's Hearth, I'm giving you each these belongings." he claps his hands.

A guard, one you've met before, brings out four bags jingling with gold (500 gp each), 2 potions of barkskin, a +1 chain shirt, and an amulet of mighty fists +1.

"These were my father's old hunting supplies. He liked to have a bout at the beach too, yes? I can also offer you a plot of land within the town's walls," he hand you a slip of paper signed and sealed and quite official looking. "Though the deed will only remain binding if you erect a permanent structure on the land and live in it or run a business or other organization from it for 2 years. The current plot of land has that old Temple of Erastil I'm afraid, but it's mostly a rundown old ruin anyway, yes?"

He clears his throat and wipes his glasses with a cloth. The nasally intonation remains as he speaks. "I've gathered everyone here to pool our knowledge. How can we best defend our settlement and surrounding farms, hmm? Fort Breakthrough assaulted, ostensibly by lizardfolk. Our town assuredly attacked by lizardfolk. Supernatural storms brewing off the coast. When I came here, I envisioned Pridon's Hearth growing into a place where hard work can secure any family a legacy and land for generations, yes? I even plan to explore the jungle myself one day!"

With his last sentence he grows excited, and Hamsa Gadd, his financial advisor, pulls him back to his seat. She has a scarred face from years of hard labor, red hair lightened by work in the sun, and a worn leather tunic and gloves. "Those are quite drastic measures, Count Narsus," she says. "It's better for us to leave such expeditions to the professionals," she says and motions to the Muddy Marines. "If you'll recall, I myself was on an expedition that was ambushed by Song'o halflings not too long ago."

The Count nods and pushes up his glasses. "You're quite right, hmm, I don't know what I was thinking. These four are the most qualified to investigate this disaster and stop these supernatural storms. Don't you agree, yes? We'll need your agreement before discussing details."

Sheriff Adaela, Banker Valdra, and Hamsa Gadd voice their agreement at this last statement. They all turn to look at you four, waiting for you answer.
