Thallan Mourne (Hassan Ahmed) Cleric 3
So looking at Hassan's profile, it seems that is a pretty active poster, with 4-5 active campaigns. I also think Thallan fits well party wise, he provides magical item crafting, a ton knowledge skills and a very solid AC to provide support along with his healing and spells. I have also seen his RP skills in the Legacy of Fire campaign we are both competing for a slot in, and no joke, this guy can write.
WTF Hassan is Vonna?!

Alright guys, so here's the deal: I've invited two players to join our discussion thread. We will be holding interviews with them once combat is completed in the gameplay thread. We can all get to know eachother a bit here, and perhaps discuss backstory ideas and build stuff.
These are my top two (with your input considered), and I just couldn't decide between them.

Okay so I have updated my profile and my background to your requests. I have a few questions to ask the group though. I was thinking of switching my Skill Focus from heal into Diplomacy. And also taking my +2 ability from strength into charisma. Making 14 strength and 12 charisma. This will decrease my to-hit and damage, but will increase my charisma based skills (mainly diplomacy, which is my main skill)
So what do you think?

@Xenoz: You might want to update your appearance, since it says your 6'2 with fair blond hair, Since we are using a point buy, popular stat sets for support clerics include: 12, 12, 14, 11, 14, 14. You can put your +2 racial bonus into a 14, since thats all you really need. Wasp is mostly our group face, due to her CHA of 14, and Bluff, Diplomacy and Sense Motive. My advice is try to find Skills that compliment the group, but provide your own strengths. For instance I can tell you that our whole group has Stealth, This can be very powerful, such as during our Ambush of the Were-rats. I know priests can't pick it up normally, but you can via a Trait! We are weak on Heal and Knowledge (religion) (nobility) (planes). We have alot of skill classes for our group via a Ranger, Rogue and Inquistor so you don't need to worry too much, but I really recommend at a minium Stealth, Religion and Heal.
@Thallan: Creepy Picture! I really like your build, almost reminds me of the Cloistered Cleric Archetype!

I will trade courageous for the stealth trait...which trait is it?? This will lower my diplomacy to 0 if I take all points out or to 4 if I leave 1 in. I changed my skill focus to religion, so it is now at +9. Since Wasp has sense motive, I can take points out of that and add another to heal and religion, bringing the totals to Heal: 9 and Religion: 9 and I put a point into Nobility: +5. And then once I pick the stealth trait, I will have +7 for stealth.
Also I changed my appearance to dark blue hair.
If I take your recommendation stats, I would have 14 str, 12 dex, 14 con, 12 int, 16 wis, 11 cha
Then I would have more points to spend in skills, I would then adjust them to
heal 9
nobles 6
planes 6
religion 10
stealth 4 (+bonuses for trait)
so if you think that is what I should do let me know.
Also, I am not planning on focusing on my channel energy much, so I am swapping my extra channel feat for something. Right now I am debating between, toughness (always handy), scribe scroll, or scholar: nobles, religion
so let me know what you think there also

@scorching ray not affecting swarm: yes, it seems youre right. I was thinking the beam continued through targets like lightning bolt and could be aimed and dragged like in Baldur's Gate. I've never really played with hardcore blasty magic to be honest.
I was planning to pick up gust of wind next level but it might be better as a wand. It could damage swarms and have a lot of utility.

Okay, as far as spells go.
My domain spells would most likely be Bless and Shield Other.
0-level spells would vary based on what we expect to accomplish on a given day, but the general layout would be Detect Magic, Guidance, Read magic, Resistance. I might swap in stabilize also.
1-level spells again would vary day-to-day. Average would be Gorum's Armor, Magic Weapon, Protection from Evil. Based on how well our party is suited, I could swap some of the buffs for debuffs like Bane, Doom. Or a spell lke Command
2-level spells bulls strength, and hold person. Based on what we are expecting, I can change one of them to resist energy, aid, any of the other ability buffs. Or for more specialized events I could go with Darkness or Enthrall. Lesser restoration could also be useful.
Since I am a cleric, I have the advantage of not needing to prepare all my spells at the beginning of the day. So I could begin the day with a few of the necessities and hold of on the others for when we have a better idea of what we will need. Also, spontaneous casting will enable me to heal in case we get in over our heads.
Let me know what you guys think. Also, what is the stealth based trait? I am thinking of swapping Courageous for it, since Vhalas said that everyone else in the party has reasonable stealth.

I cant think of and cleric spells off the top of my head, but channel negative energy would work, if you went that route.
Looks like he's LG :/
Sound Burst is about all I can find for level 3 and below.

I'm not sure how awesome burning hands is. I mean even if I was a single class wizard it would be 3d4 (+50%) with a failed reflex save. I doubt even if I was an evoker I would have put the same spell in multiple slots. A CL1 wand would of course be even crappier.
dmg:
3d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) = 9
3d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) = 8
3d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) = 9
3d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) = 9
3d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) = 5
Max here is just 13.
reflex save DC 15:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
And you know there's a decent chance it would save. Needs to roll 12 or 13 with spell focus considered.
A CL5 wand with a few charges would probably be a great weapon against a swarm, but I'm not sure about a spell slot with it. Dunno, just my impressions. Sorcerer I suppose could manage it.

CLEP tests?
I'm a BA of Poli Sci, which requires a foreign language proficiency. I took a 3050 class, which is the "Advanced Spanish" class after spending two years in Argentina. Once you pass that class, you can just purchase:
1010
1020
2010
2020
These courses, and all the others necessary for a Spanish Minor also contribute to my Major... so life just got a lot easier today. Hallelujah?

Dragon con is always fun, but somewhat exhausting too. Sleep is never a priority and quality food is hard to come by. There is great gaming from 8:00 am to well past midnight every day and literally a hundred or more other things I would like to go see. And this year the people were wall to wall - more people than ever.
Saw good friends I only see once a year. Played/ran 40 hours of Pathfinder. got maybe 20 hours of sleep in 5 nights. lol. Recovering now.

I have a suggestion: Take both Clerics and call it a day, they're different enough now and will evolve differently enough that there is little role/character overlap.
Problem solved.
Unless there's a rule about "no two clerics in a campaign". :)
DM Drider |
:) there isn't.
I'm sorry for the delay Thallan! I didn't expect it to be so long haha. Thanks for checking back in. I'll make sure to work it out so that as soon as they get back we can have the decision made.
@Ziyad I'm comfortable with anybody carying on the conversation. It doesn't have to be wasp if she's not around.
