Noran Kekmore |
Noran holds his action until after Filios has a chance to move. At that point he will take a 5' step to Filios' current position, and send a flurry of arrows at Tasskar.

Filios seizes the opportunity and charges the Tasskar while placing the throne between himself and the croc.

Round 1, Initiative 7 (GMPC for Jareth)
Wielding his scimitar and shield, Jareth follows the others up the stairs, but something in the back of his mind tells him not to move too far. He ends his movement and casts shield of faith on himself before activating his judgment of protection.

Round 1, Initiative 6
Tasskar snarls as one of Noran's arrows takes a large gash out of the troglodyte's arm and Quartes's bolt of magic energy slams into his side. He moves out of reach of Filios, chanting strange words and gesturing as he begins to cast a spell.
Bite 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17; Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
The albino crocodile moves in to take its master's place, snapping at Filios with its toothy maw. The swashbuckler's attempt to avoid the attack fails, and the croc takes a bite out of the elf's leg! (Filios is at 5/10) It doesn't grab him, however, as a larger creature might.

Round 2, Init 9(1)
Balenar continues his performance, shouting a word of warning between stanzas, "I'm going to try to confuse Tasskar... might be tough since he's a caster of some sort, but if he summons that swarm this fight will get a whole lot more difficult!"
He takes a step closer to the troglodyte to get within range, then begins chanting as he casts lesser confusion.
Will save DC 14 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13... lucky!
Tasskar's eyes go wide and he fails to maintain concentration on his spell as paranoia wracks his mind. He begins to look around wildly, frantically swinging his scimitar around recklessly!

Round 2, Init 7
Confusion roll 1d4 ⇒ 1
The confusion effect seems to not take hold as Tasskar stops flailing about. He raises one of his arms, his palm facing upwards, and shouts a brief command as he casts a spell.
Small flames appear in his outstretched hand, though they don't seem to harm him. He remains standing at the far eastern end of the room.
Bite 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26; Damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The crocodile attacks Filios once again, sinking its teeth into the elf's leg and bringing him down. (Filios is at -2.) With one threat out of the way, it turns its attention to Beckett, snarling at the cleric.

On my turn
I'm going to move 3 squares to the left and Ready an action to Channel Energy for when the Croc moves. I have a plan, hold off your attacks a moment. I don't have much left, so make it count. . . as I close my eyes a moment and begin to pray, and shepherds we shall be, . . .
Beckett of the Bleeding Rose |
I've only got 2, 1d6 heals left. If I use it now, when you really don't even have a chance to hit the thing, it's wasted. We have got to move the fight to something more advantagous, so hopefully the croc moves a little after me, and we can at least start to flank it. As is, I'm going raise you, your going to attempt to get up, get AoO'd and be right back down again or dead, and I have 1 heal left. If we can flank, at least we can parse out the damage for my last heal to make it worth it.
Beckett of the Bleeding Rose |
The throne doesn't offer cover in my original square? Even so, I will go ahead and do that.
I foresee a crit on the way followed by a TPK. . .
Cover and Attacks of Opportunity: You can't execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with cover relative to you.
HERE
GM Sean |
@Beckett - Hm... yeah, ok - my bad. Nothing mentions that the throne provides cover, but makes sense that it does. Might have negated a hit against Tasskar at one point, but that's OK. Your move won't provoke. Sorry!
@Noran - You're 35' from Tasskar... did you want to take a 5-foot step first for Point Blank Shot? Also, isn't your attack bonus +2? (+1 Dex, +1 Point Blank if you move, +1 Inspire Courage, -1 Flurry).
Round 3, Init 9
Balenar moves and draws his shortbow as he continues his performance. "I still have a couple spells, but I'll hold onto them in case we need some healing!"
Shortbow 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20; Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He draws an arrow and fires at the troglodyte, hitting the creature squarely in its shoulder. "Aha! That's for keeping me in that stinking room!"
Quartes |
Quarter looks at the possibly unstable floor with trepidation. With a wince, he watches Filios fall, then eyes Tasskar with frustration.
Hoping that he takes the bait of his taunt, Quartes readies his sword to strike at the troglodyte if it comes within range.

Crud, why did I think I was already in point blank range? Yes, I need to step in, I've been using that bonus!
Beckett of the Bleeding Rose |
@Beckett - Hm... yeah, ok - my bad. Nothing mentions that the throne provides cover, but makes sense that it does. Might have negated a hit against Tasskar at one point, but that's OK. Your move won't provoke. Sorry!
I was honestly asking. I assumed it would, but no one mentioned it before, so I wanted to make sure is all.
Could someone shift me 3 squares to the left, please.
everyone that hasn't acted yet, PS, please hold off your attacks until after I heal everyone in the room. :(
GM Sean |
Round 3, Init 7
Jareth takes a step back with Beckett switching to his judgment of justice, then readies an attack if an enemy follows the cleric.
Round 3, Init 6
Tasskar snickers at Quartes's words with a hissing laugh...
Flame vs. touch 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22; Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 fire... eesh - guess it's my turn to roll well :-/
He snarls as he flings the flame in his hand at the magus. It slams into Quartes, intense pain burning through his body.
Balenar winces as he sees one of his rescuers badly injured. "Good thing I saved some healing..."
Scimitar 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 17
The crocodile chases after Beckett (Beckett's readied channel happens here... go ahead and roll for that) and steps within reach of Jareth. The inquisitor swings his scimitar at the creature, but his attack bounces harmlessly off its thick hide.
Bite 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
The crocodile turns to this new threat, lashing out at the half-orc. It nearly manages to grab hold of his leg, but a white glow seems to repel the creature, Jareth's shield of faith saving him.
