Ransaq |
Ransaq walks away with his compadre's. After some distance, he turns a corner and ducks behind a building, just out of sight of the other group. "Sanza, I need you to stand at the corner of this building. Keep an eye on the other group. Don't let them out of your sight. If you start to lose sight, say something".
He then pulls Garroth and Melaphi close, careful to have a quiet conversation.
Don't worry Sanza, I'll fill you in, just give me a bit.

"Well I still say we hit the keep this coming weekend."
Side note regarding coin carried on my person, unless I was on my way to spend it I don't think I'd ever be carrying more than about 10gp on me at any given time - to much weight anyway. Now if my home gets robbed... that's another story about how much I'd lose."
Garroth Seren |
I think its just a fine, that we have to pay as a group. I doubt the dwarves, however corrupt sounding would actually rob us of our carried money. I am a little miffed that the fast track involved their story being Garroth falling on his own sword. Blatant lie, no blood on Garroths sword, plenty on Marcellos to be sure.
With the burden on them to make that bluff roll, its kindoff annoying to have both parties just get equal blame. Meh.
That said, Garroth probably wouldnt carry more than a 100 at a time either, for future reference if it becomes important..
Profession (Cook): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Deleting 3 gold from sheet + this weeks earnings for Garroths share of the fine.
Meeting with the others throughout the week, Garroth shared an idea with them. "Bet you anythin' those thugs will be back this comin' weekend." He scratched his chin thoughfully. "How about we let them take the gate entrance, deal with all the nasties that are probably waitin' there, and instead, we get a grapplin' hook and scale the walls on the other side."
Patricie |
"If they want it so bad," Patricie chimes in, "I say let 'em have it. Is there nothing else worth doing around here?" Patry's expression and tone of voice leaves no one to doubt that she doesn't want to come across that group again if she can help it.

"Various old ruins and ancient chapels filled with madmen. Nothing that has any real impact on improving things for the people of the city though."
"And while I cannot condone Ransaq's methods or choice of actions, if he felt they were about to attack him I wouldn't dismiss that completely."
"What do you think Garroth? Leave the keep for them to explore? Or get in and out before they do?"
Garroth Seren |
Garroth grunted with annoyance, scowling for a few long seconds, before finally softening up and sighing. "I really feel like those thugs were trouble. They were up to somethin' atleast, that woman was a terrible liar." He looked annoyed again. "But I cant rightly say thats enough to be pickin' more fights with them. Not yet."
He started pacing, grumbling to himself under his breath. "We should probably take a little more time to clear the surrounding area, get some experience under our belts as a team, and possibly some equipment for the time ahead." He sighed again, dropping into his chair and chugging the contents of his mug. "Suppose we give it a few weeks. I will try askin' around about these fellows and their supposed cultist slayin'. Who knows, maybe they really are good guys, doin' good for the wrong reasons, and bein' aggressive thugs as they do."
Not sure how to do asking around about the other team. Im thinking something like not doing Garroths day job for a week or some of the days of it.
Garroth Seren |
Mostly just asking around trying to find someone who was one of these witnesses to the whole thing. Garroth will use all his weekdays if he has to.

Entering the establishment, Garroth looked around at the patrons. Spotting the pair, he double checked the hastily scrawled description, before nodding to himself. "With the two together, fittin' the description, can hardly be wrong."
Striding to the bar, he ordered three mugs and a pitcher of ale. Keeping his eye on the two, he patiently waited for the server to bring what he wanted. Receiving his order, he strode purposefully towards their table, planting the ale in the center of it, before pulling up a chair.
"Good day to you gents." He said cheerily, saluting them with a chummy smile, all while setting up the mugs and pouring. "I dont mean to impose, well, actually I do." He toasted them with his mug and took a long swig. "Ill get right to it then. You see, theres been rumors goin' around, about these heroes that saved the city. Somethin' about cultists was it?" He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Yeah, thats what it was, cultists. You boys mind gettin' me caught up on that? Seems noone tells the story the same, so I thought id find the source and hear the real deal for myself."
He nudged the other mugs towards the two. "So, whats the real deal then?"
Garroth Seren |
Garroths cheerful demeanor quickly sank into a sour scowl as the two gave their short, yet incredibly damning answers. "If you are gonna lie, better go have yourselves some practice before you try it again." He said, clutching his mug so tightly the wood released a soft groan in protest. "Now, Im in no mood to be filled with lies, had enough of that just findin' you two." He said, leaned in, sticking his head forward as if daring either of them to throw a punch. "Now Im a reasonable enough fellow, so ill tell you what." He continued, giving them a smile, one that would have looked genuine if not for the fire in his eyes. "You give me more than a five word reply, the truth this time, and ill promise, swear on my honor, I wont beat your faces in for lyin' in the first place." He refilled his abused mug and took a sip.
"Now, doesnt that sound like the most reasonable request youve ever heard?"

"Well then." He said, getting on his feet and taking a glance around the tavern for any previously unnoticed third party. "How about we take this to the alley? Wouldnt wanna ruin the proprietors establishment over our disagreement now would we?" "Well, no harm in trying." He thought, ready for the almost inevitable attempt at a surprise attack.

flagon vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14, Damage (non-lethal): 1d3 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (5) = 10
Before Garroth can react, an empty flagon comes flying at his head. However, his impressive training enables him to deflect the attack. While he's distracted, the man moves behind him.
Your turn, no AoO, and Patricie is outside if you like, though bears and bars probably don't mix
Garroth Seren |
Taking a second to find the barkeep, Garroth attempted a moment of eye contact. "Well I wanted to take it outside, ill try not to break anythin'!" He shouted, before throwing himself at the two, launching himself at one with a vicious headbutt, letting his momentum carry him into the other in an attempt to knock him off his feet.

Just a quick question, can Patricie hear what's going on to the point that she'd want to intervene? He didn't ask for my help, so I'm confused as to whether I can join the fight.
Melaphi Dasan |
I'd think you'd hear a bar fight breaking out. Probably roll init regardless to see if you will even have a chance to act before the guy at 11 init goes or not, then if you are lower you can just wait for DM-Kal to confirm, if higher post tentative actions till he confirms or not.

I'd say you'd notice, but that'll put you a round behind. Garroth headbutts his attacker while tripping the other man. The man stands back up provoking and picks up his chair, taking a swing at Garroth. chair: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5, nonlethal: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (2) = 7
The other man recoils from the headbutt before responding with a swipe with a clay jug.

Cool, can we get a map? I'd like to see my options
Patry sends Trilby in to guard the area around Garroth, preventing anyone from approaching him on pain of bite and/or claw. She then shouts a few words of druidic from behind cover, causing a stirge to fly in and attempt to attach itself to the nearest attacker. Attach (Melee Touch Attack): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

With his good fortune so far, Garroth felt that old familiar exhilaration of the brawl. As the prone assailant stood up, he tried to knee the man in the face.
AOO Power Attack Unarmed Strike (Non-lethal): 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 - 1 = 9 An effective 13 with the -4 AC penalty for prone.
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10
Switching things up, Garroth then focused his attacks on the other man, attempting to sweep his leg.
Flurry of Maneuvers (Trip): 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 10 - 2 - 1 = 14 Probably not
However he was ready, leaping over Garroths leg. With an annoyed grunt, Garroth proceeded to punch at him.
Power Attack Unarmed Strike (Non-lethal): 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 1 = 12
But only found air as the man dodged yet again. "Looks like comin' here wasnt a complete loss." He laughed, a genuinely laugh full of mirth. "Lets see what you got cupcake!"
DM-Kal |
Actually that was the exact number you needed. Garroth is a sloppy mess of kicks and punches, but his training proves far superior to that of a couple of street thugs. He knocks a few teeth out of one of them and puts the other one on the floor unconscious. The last one standing attacks with a barstool. barstool: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22, nonlethal: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
He strikes hard before hoping against hope to stay on his feet a few more seconds.
Garroth & Patry up! Patry, you'll be without a move action this round.

"Dont worry, lass, I think I got this." Garroth called as he spotted Patricie burst through the doorway. "Just...gotta..." He said, feinting a few times before assailing the last man standing. He attempted another quick leg sweep, before laying into him, fists flying.
Flurry of Maneuvers (Trip): 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 10 - 2 - 1 = 13
Power Attack Unarmed Strike (Non-lethal): 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 1 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8

I have no idea what's going on...why does Patry lose a move action? She couldn't see what was happening from outside? This is why I like maps. And Trilby is fast enough (40 ft) to make it past the obstacles in one move, is Garroth further in? Is that why no one triggered a guard attack? Or did they?
Garroth Seren |
Im guessing this tavern is a regular closed front door as opposed to an open saloon one western style. The lost move action is probably to move inside and/or open the door. Guards would probably only respond in a few rounds if there were some in the tavern or just outside of it. No idea on Trilby.
Garroth Seren |
Taking a moment to make sure no more patrons were about to jump him, Garroth walked up the the dwarven barkeep. "Sorry for the mess mate, like I said, I didnt want to fight..." He smiled apologetically. "Well, thats not entirely true, I really did want to punch those guys. But they initiated it." He dug out his money, looking at the dwarf questioningly. "How much for the damage and helping me tie these fools to some chairs? I still got unfinished business with them."
