Rigor Rictus |
Been thinking about starting up a Savage Rifts game of my own, and thought I'd check here first to see what kind of interest their might be? Would you guys be interested in a second Rifts related storyline?
Could be completely independent of this one, or if DM ShadowBloodmoon was interested, we could try to coordinate and run the stories concurrently, maybe with occasional crossover events.
For instance, say the Coalition or Federation of Magic attacked Castle refuge; the event could show up in both storylines as it affects everyone, but while one team is reacting to the attack and defending the walls, the other is stuck out behind the besieging forces and has to figure out what to do from there. Not suggesting this as an actual storyline, just using it as an example of how games might overlap or coexist. In the above example, the other team might almost function like a group of NPC's in a single campaign; known figures/recurring characters that come up from time to time, and always seem to have their adventures off-screen.
I'd probably open it up to more players and do a recruitment to round out the numbers, as as we can see, there is generally a certain amount of attrition that always needs to be managed in these groups.

I myself am pretty full, but I like the idea of an interarcing storyline and would be willing to give it a go. Was going to say dibs on Ley Line Walker, but in case I have overextended my time, I think a Juicer would be more appropriate... makes it easy to plug n play of necessary..

So, I have recorded that I already have 8 XP, so with the 2 new XP, I can take an Advancement. Anyone have any good ideas about what Edges might be good for a Mind Melter (I mean, Two-Fisted and Ambidextrous are obviously out)? Or, I was thinking of adding a Power - any thoughts on a good new Power (I already have Bolt, Boost/Lower Trait, Deflection, Healing, and Smite)?
I thought I was doing good with $12,720, but then I went shopping in the User's Guide - I forgot how pricey everything is in RIFTS! Oh, well.
Jonis Witta |
Jonis only has $4,220 credits. If anyone needs to borrow some, feel free to do it.
Jonis also gets an advance and will get Elan. I think is very useful.
Shakti, want to trade cards? I think it would be better if we trade.
Anyone for the extra benny? If not, Jonis will go for it...
ZenFox42 |
Jonis - go for it!
Vrog - Armor was one of the Powers I was considering. But when Jonis mentioned Elan, that sounded good, too. Yeah, I've already taken Extra Power Points. Thanks for the feedback!
If it's ok with everyone else, I'd like to keep my card, seeing as I burn thru ISP pretty quickly in a battle...
"Shakti" शक्ति |
Jonis: I'd be up for that, my only thought is this: not much can survive a Glitterboy hit as it is; would this card actually be of much help to you (unless you want to really infuriate Bloodmoon by one-shotting whatever ultimate big-bad shows up along the line)?
DM ShadowBloodmoon: I am presuming Shakti does not get the money? It would seem a bit odd if she did... However, I think I was being started at the same XP as the others (from my own off-screen adventures), which I think would mean I'd get an Advance as well?
Jonis Witta |
Maybe you are right... but the fact is the current Jonis card is of no use for her, as she is seldom in hand to hand combat... unlike Shakti.
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
Same XP, I will award at least the bonus of 2500 though so you aren't left behind. The Legion owes you something for your efforts, plus whatever things you may have gathered along the way..

Sure.

Sounds good. Think I'll take Extra Power: Healing.

Just so everyone is aware, I may go dark for a few days. I go in for an operation tomorrow that I've been waiting for quite a while. Nothing immediately life threatening, but something that has to be addressed sooner or later. It's one of those situations where they don't know what it will be like until they get inside, so it is hard to predict what recovery will be like. Hopefully all will go smoothly and I'll be back in a couple days.
As some of you are with me in multiple games, I apologise for the duplicate post.
Auriel Acherean |
Posting this to all my games: Sorry for the lack of posting. For the second time this year, I got the flu, and the internet is out at my house right now (where it has been for the last two days). It should hopefully be resolved by Monday, and if not I'm going to switch ISPs. Please feel free to bot me until I am back up and running, and if I am running your game, I haven't forgotten about you!
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
I am posting this in all my games. I will be out of country from May 18th to May 27th with limited Internet access. I will try to keep up where I can, but make no promises that I can't keep. Game on and bot as needed, please!

So this is just me being curious : SBM, how do you handle regeneration in SW? Is the vampire Incapacitated by Auriel's blow, and at 3 Wounds, and heals 1 Wound per round, becoming un-Incapacitated on the next round? Is there any amount of damage (the equivalent of slicing them in two) that can kill them outright?
"Shakti" शक्ति |
Weapons with the Wood, Silver, or Holy descriptor totally block the Vampire's regeneration, so once put down by one of those weapons, they generally won't be back in the same fight, and have only to be decapitated to be kept dead. If Auriel had the Champion edge or a way to give himself a Trapping to his sword (such as Greater Smite) he could put them down with a single hit.
However, on the other side of things, a non-magic weapon (other than wood or silver) is nearly useless against them and can never get a result greater than Shaken (even a Boom Gun!).
I can't remember if Psychic attacks hurt them, but I think they do, as they are supernatural (though not specifically magic).
Oh, running water does the trick as well, whether holy water or not. A plain super soaker is a deadly weapon against these guys, as is a garden hose.
(Of course, all of that assumes these are default Savage Rifts vampires, and not a GM Special.)
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
Hmm... I run regeneration exactly as written, so next round he will start regenerating but it doesn't immediately make them un Shaken..
And yes Psychic damage hurts them, just as Shakti mentioned. They are 'vanilla' vampires except for the first one...
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
I know right? It's been crazy, basically every time I have had a chance to check the forums, the site has been down. I'm hoping that we're all good now. I don't want to have to bot Auriel since he earned the Drop, but I dont want to hold the game back either. I will move forward with the soldiers' turn if he doesn't post by this evening.

Re: Jonis
Jonis has been absent for some time and I haven't heard anything about her return. The thing is, I left it open.. maybe she survived the horde..
As for how dangerous it was, as I said, consider it an environmental hazard. The more you fight, the worse it was going to get... you will find out how that's possible soon enough...
Dunwich Horror |
Hey, if it ain't the Dunwich Horror; back from walkabout?
FOOL! YOUR WITTY AND ANACHRONISTIC REFERENCE TO AUSTRALIA IS ONLY A DEEP SEATED DENIAL OF YOUR OWN MORTALITY! IN YOUR OWN SUBCONSCIOUS YOU BELIEVE THAT THINKING ABOUT CUTE BABY KANGAROOS AND GRILLING MARINE LIFE ON THE BARBY WILL DISTRACT YOU FROM THE INEVITABILITY THAT AWAITS US ALL!
IF THAT IS YOUR OPIATE OF CHOICE, THEN HERE ARE SOME CUTE PICTURES OF KITTENS!
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
Hee. =)
Hrmmm, a yes! Yes, 'tis I. I _am_ back from a bit of a walkabout of sorts. It...is not really something I recommend, but, as the saying goes, you don't go back, you go on to a new place. (I think that's from Angel, the Buffy spin off.)
Um, I know it's a bit sudden, but since you seem to be down a player recently, uh.....
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
Attie!! Welcome back. Unfortunately yes, we are down one, but it seems we are up one now too.. we'll get you written back in as soon as you are ready.
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
Oh I'm ready now big daddy!
Giddy up Buttercup! =D
Of note, I know that Iv'e been bellyaching about -not- playing a guy riding Robot Armor. And, yes, I admit that with Jonis stepping out, I seriously considered a logic campaign to let me roll a new char in that direction. But...I'm no longer vastly moved in that direction. That's not to say that I don't still look wistfully at the TR-001 TITAN (have you seeeen that thing??) and that it might be a thing to be considered in the future, but for now playing a mere garden-variety combat cyborg can satisfy my meager tastes. =)
Tally ho?
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
Hehe.. mayhaps we will see what we can do about that... sounds like the rest of the crew have come to a decision, so we should be able to move forward soon.
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
Yeah, I think Shakti is having internet issues, so it one of you guys could just make a call to move the plot, that would be great. =)
As you just found me, I don't really have an IC reason to give a direction, but if you want me to, I would, if that is more convenient. =)
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now I've just finished reading the thread.
Okay so...we're in Pux now? I don't think they're gonna have a lot of armor piercing grenades. ^_^
Also, does anyone else think that Greyspear -is- the Master Vampire? Isn't the concrete fortress where we think the vampires are coming from also the place that greyspear seems to be holding court with all of her power armor guys?
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
Also also, I've looked at my fair share of maps over time, and do you know how hard it would to never be able to cross moving water?? You can't toss a dead cat very far and not cross a stream or a crick most places.
Vamps must have a BUTT of a time getting around. >.<
DM ShadowBloodmoon |
Hehe.. luckily vampires are smart and can figure out ways around such miniscule things...
Auriel Acherean |
Posting this to all my games, so sorry if you see it multiple times:
This week both my office and I personally are going to be moving. It's been crazy busy and I am not going to be able to post until Monday at the earliest. Please bot me if I am in your game, and if you are in a game I am running, I will get a post up as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience.
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
As much as I'm playing both my Overconfidence and Death Wish, _IF_ we wanna be serious about this, I _think_ I can work my advances so that I can take the Thief Edge. The +2 to Stealth would cancel out my minus, making me at least as stealthy as Auriel, and better at climbing. Also, I could shoot Greyspear at range. ^_^
What do y'all think?
Auriel Acherean |
I have the thief and woodsman edges from my rolls.
As I posted in the gameplay thread, between code of honor, heroic, loyal, and fighting vampires being his LITERAL calling, there is no way that Auriel can not go and attack the compound.
With that being said, I see one of two things happening for the game:
1) The group makes the decision to NOT go, in which case it would make sense for me to make a different character to keep playing the game;
2) the group does decide to go, in which case, game on.
So Auriel was actually my first Rifts character (in the actual palladium rpg days, not Savage Rifts). I have alot of attachment to the character; with that being said, however, I am enjoying the game, and character creation in the system is good enough that making another character is fun in and of itself, so please don't feel as you need to do something that doesn't make sense for your character for the sake of mine.
Assaultmech Atlas 21-12 |
I'm down with option B, just because I can't fathom that any GM would put such a tantalizing mission in front of a party, and then be all "yeah, it's like -totally- too hard for you. You should now leave this 0% completed and go do something else." =)
I think that we're over-estimating the zombie horde threat. Clearly it didn't eat the party the first time, so it's eminently escape-able.
I maintain that the "draw it out and just stay ahead of it" plan would work. We would just need to keep going. Also, we don't know if it has Friend-and-Foe recognition. Maybe that IS the plan? To lead it back to her base and have it destroy the base for us....just like any "environmental threat" would do.
I'm just brainstorming here, obviously.
