I live on Oahu. Most places here have cell coverage, unless you're in a deep valley.
Nice, I live in the middle of Ohio, a little jealous right now ;)

Just to make sure we are on the same page, I stepped into the circle on the upper platform where the triptych is, NOT anything on the lower level in front of the arches like Trib did. I was not expecting a trap, since Trib's take-20 for trap hunting revealed no traps here. That's fine if there are, just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same thing.

I thought you meant you were springing one of the traps. My mistake. No damage, then.

Just curious, how large is the well? I have a scroll of Enlarge Person, which would give someone twice their height, longer reach, and a +2 str bonus, which I'm wondering if it would be helpful in this case to give better swim checks and hopefully allow whoever to not have to swim quite so deep to reach Namtar, but the well would have to have a large enough opening to admit an embiggened individual.
Alternatively, I also have a scroll of protection from evil, which would give the swimmer a +2 resistance bonus to saves, assuming this is an "effect created by evil creatures".
Could use one or both here.

I have summon monster, so I could summon something with a quick swim speed to pull him up if need be, but it won't last long enough to do much else.
I would volunteer to be embiggened if it comes to that

The hunter aspects are quite awesome, and the fact I can just keep switching between them with Feral Hunter (as far as I understand the Feral Focus supernatural ability) gives me an interesting edge. At least the character becomes interesting for this kind of utility thing, since I must recognize it falls behind a lot in combat without the animal companion.
I use Bear most of the time to boost my geokineticist stuff, but in our adventure I already switched to Falcon, Monkey and now Frog. I'm finding the archetype quite fun and fascinating, never tried it before.
Anyway, back to our issue - I also have Darkvision, some good saves (especially if the effect is magical, a poison or both) and I'm also focused in Constitution (due to the kineticist thing) so it gives me more hold breath rounds. With it all said, I feel we will need to tie a rope to me and pull me after some rounds, hoping that I found our brave diver on time :)
To be sincere, I'm glad someone tried something new. I confess I'm running out of ideas :$

on the new thing, the only trap we sprung was the one on the closed gate, we may be able to walk through the other two, we haven't officially tried.

The pool is about twenty feet across. An enlarged PC would fit in just fine. Also the pool is adequately evil for it the scroll to help.
Tribim |
hey at least it gives us something to do instead of standing with our thumbs up our scratching our heads ;)
Arundel |
So do we think that the Enlarge Person scroll would be a worthwhile usage here? It will delay us a round, and decrease Dommer's dex by 2, which might be bad given the effects. But it does give him more strength for passing his swim checks, and extends his reach so he won't have to swim so deep. Should I proceed?
Regin Ald |
I don't think he'll need it with a swim speed. He should be able to take 10 and the swim speed itself gives +8 to swim checks so the enlarge may just be overkill.
Regin Ald |
Frog +4 (Su) When assuming this aspect, gain listed competence bonus to Swim & Acrobatics to jump.
oops, not a swim speed. Still, we should probably hold off on the scroll.
Dommer |
For the swim speed, I will have to be level 5 - after I get "Planar Focus" :)
And I agree we should save the scroll.

And two IC things:
1) Zummabu said that the Cairn of Whispers (or whatever the correct translation is) is somewhere near the old Lidish Mine. He has this information from a letter written by people who believed they had a location for it.
2) You found a tablet (basically a scratch pad, Sumer-style) in the building up topside which named potential locations for the Cairn. Only one of those suggests anything intersecting with mines. It specifically references guarded mines as possibles and you found it in basically an abandoned compound contemporaneous with the well through which you got here.
*There may be rare points where for world reasons the DC may just be too high to hit or the information just literally isn't available, but that would be a very rare exception.
What if the other group got here, realized they needed more from some other place, left the couple of traps and went looking for a key. Either in the tomb itself or this leads to the tomb and we need a key, that being the reason it was never raided.
Ideas to support this:
The never actually said they had found the crypt.
If this was what they were looking for and they opened the door, would they have returned to town, not leaving a real guard?
The guy we robbed didn't have anything from a tomb,
The one guy showed a lot of "veiled" interest when one of us talked about the tomb.
Shall we go explore more options:
We could explore the well shaft more.
we could search the building near this.
We could find the other team and follow them.
Just some Ideas here...

Somehow, I think I wouldn't be above this if I were a forum admin

Hey guys! I'm working on my move and relocation and should be back by Wednesday. Cheers!

Not sure if this would apply in this case (not sure if their attack was actually a surprise round or not), and not sure what I would have done with it in any case, but as a Foresight wizard I always get to act in any surprise round. Just wanted to mention it for future ambushes (not that you would do that to us, Samnell!).
I do get a kick out of the fact that we are nearly 10 pages into this gameplay thread before seeing combat. Agreed with Namtar - all kinds of good RP here!
Tribim |
that's ok, we don't have any control over him either, he did jump in a necrotic pool of evil and none of us could stop him... ;)
Tribim |
I love how you referenced it in your challenge, it was worth doing just for that!

It would; I just forgot you had it. Go ahead and declare for surprise and I'll slip it in before the top of Round 1.
And you also get to go in Round 1, of course.

just like in the fancy epics, the dwarf and the elf are sticking together...

So, just curious, how are we planning on following Dommer, if we can't see Dommer? Are we going to hold hands and skip now? I bet we're going to hold hands and skip now. Is there a penalty on stealth checks while skipping?
Tribim |
well, I thought he could move ahead and look and then come back, or we can pull the lights way back and follow him in the dim light.

my laptop hard drive died tonight, going to send it to the shop in the morning, so I will be working on borrowed tech. Not sure how much I will be able to post so if someone would like to take point please do.
Samnell, please bot me in combat, Trib can just stay back and throw acid balls...

Just a heads up, I will be traveling for work until late Wednesday, and have no idea what my posting capabilities will be during that time. I will try to post like normal, but might not be able to.

Hey guys. I'm heading to DC for a conference on Tuesday. I fly back the following Sunday. I'll have internet, but i expect to be pretty busy thursday through Saturday. Bot me if needed.

Sorry about your loss, take all the time you need!

Hey gang! I'm heading to the big island for three days of fun starting tomorow morning. I won't have reliable internet so, please DMPC as necessary.

Sorry guys, apparently there was some sort of problem on the site and new post notifications were being lost, so I fell behind. Can't post tonight, but will post tomorrow. Feel free to bot me this round. Sorry!
