How should we handle rest-healing?

Should we rp out a small scene or just convert some unused slots to d8s of healing : )?

Maybe a bit of a "campfire" chat could be fun!

Or just eat up even more months. Hmm. How do people feel on the topic?

I find that continuing to push forward tends to work better in PbP games. o wo

Gay Male Inhuman

I've done this in some other games and don't see a good reason to not do it here: assume any out of combat healing is maximized. It's more fun to keep moving than spend time rolling a bunch of d8s.

If you want to do some RP, just let me know and we can do that. If not, camping and staying at an inn just blips by.

Idea: What if we implied that we were sent to keep an eye on Filge?

Currently I feel that this crew might feel that we are encroaching on their turf. Taking their jobs as it were. Might not make them inclined to help us.

But if we instead claim someone doesn't quite trust Filge and wants someone to keep on the right track, we wouldn't be competing with them. We could instead bond over chatting about how silly Filge is.

It could be an opening to pry a bit in what they've been doing earlier. "So what did Filge have you do? Anything 'extra'?" Maybe : )

And as a plus if he tries to get them to throw us out it *could* be played off as "oh he just wants us to leave so he can go back to spending resources on his own pet projects instead of what's important!" or something.

Thoughts?

Hm. Not sure...isn't it that they are basically Smenks enforcers? Like, working for the mine?
And Filge is just here working for a mutual boss? Not that they are basically his lackeys?

Maybe I misunderstood something, but I figured us working for Filge would not 'threaten their jobs' but rather save them from unpleasant extra duties for a guy they don't particularily like and only help out because boss said so.

Then again, I had been AWOL for a while back there, only quickly skimming over things, so maybe my read on the situation is wrong?

Hmh. Maybe we should poke a bit and see how they actually feel about Filge?

I just assumed they wouldn't mind doing his bidding for a bit of extra cash or something, but maybe it's just busywork.

Filge is here at the invitation of Smenk, who saw something down in a mine that deeply disturbed him. He swiped a green, segmented worm that you found in Filge's lab. Filge was to look into it.

Filge can do that because he's a necromancer. He's also got his own hobbies. You found out that Smenk's enforcers -these people- dug up some bodies for him but they aren't his subordinates. They are bully boys that Smenk, who doesn't own the mine he's worried about, uses around town.

Hmh. Then my idea probably won't work.

Maybe we should instead claim that Filge wants us to take a look at that mine and ask them if they have any handy tips. We'd sorta be telling the truth and sorta being on their side.

Yeah, also don't forget to mention the Death Curse the ghost uttered against the guys who stole his family from their graves, and how we wouldn't want to be the guys who did that...
On a unrelated note, remind me to pick up bluff next level...

I'm not a 100% on if this is the best course of action. But it's a course of action and that's what we have right now :)

Side note: conversations and locked doors feel (for me at least) like the biggest hurdles in pbp. Since you only post occasionally there's hard to get a proper flow going. And since you have time to think you (I at least!) feel pressured to say something clever and/or useful. But it's probably best just to go with the first thing that comes into mind and take it from there . )

Not that I recall; will try that for next time. My latest TPK was actually just a bunch of prison guards with hot dice.

Another blerp :(

Unless something comes up I'll have tomorrow afternoon free to try and bring the sibling-sob-story to life!

But did we really intend to use it on the guards to the compound?

I think that's the plan. Otherwise not a lot of sense in cooking it up.

Aye. If they buy it, we may be able to bribe our way in. If not, we're already in range for color spray and a surprise round. :)

I'm almost sure I can figure out what a "coinlass" would be...

Is this the part where we get to punching or should we try and play this angle? If only to get just a bit closer to them and their privates before stabbing.

Well, it's the part where I remain silently in the background, while you three angels decide how to proceed with infiltration and subterfuge. Call me Charly? :D

Though, if a lascive "And if it were so?" can separate them, that could make things that much easier...or not.

I feel like there's room for a "cutlass" joke here.

A coinlass is a sex worker, yes.

Sorry, folks, I fell off the face of the earth last week with work: last night was the first I’ve had in the past seven that I got even a full six hours of sleep. How decadent! This week still has a nasty bit of running around before things get back to something closer to normal before the hols, but this week I think I should be able to post again, starting this evening.

Yay, welcome back.

Since the prompt is for a coinlass, I don't dare answer for any of you ^_^

I'm totally not having FF7 flashbacks, I swear.

You will be happy to know this then.
That said, a dress alone won't do. One of you has to do braids on me or no deal...

@Janus - Well we can probably do something for you if you want :P

@Guards - Where and how are they carrying their weapons? Playing along might be good if it actually results in those being much further away from the guards themselves :P

Plus without pointy things of their own they may be more amendable to cutting a deal. I'm thinking something along the lines of "you'll let us look around quite a bit and we won't be actually cutting you a great deal"!

For what it's worth, if we can land a colour spray, these guys will drop whatever they're holding as part of being stunned. I think I might be tempted just from the principle of the thing. :)

The guards have swords and cudgels.

If we continue letting Chaia open like this...

Chaia, you ever considered screwing acrobatics, going for bluff, and asking Samnell to replace 'Reckless'-trait with 'Unabashed Gall' instead?(Your total indifference to the law even as you’re breaking it is such that those watching you are stunned.)
Benefit(s): Whenever you commit an unexpected and outrageously unlawful act (such as knowingly destroying or stealing something) that would elicit a hostile response from another creature, you may attempt a Bluff check opposed by the opponent’s Sense Motive check. If you’re successful, you and any allies who were willfully expecting your unlawful deed may act in a surprise round. For each ally willfully expecting your unlawful deed, you take a cumulative –2 penalty on your Bluff check. If your Bluff check fails, there is no surprise round. Regardless of whether your Bluff check succeeds, you and any allies willfully taking advantage of your unlawful deed treat your initiative checks for the duration of combat as though you had each rolled a 1.

I mean, Janus IS expecting you to do something. And unless it's entirely lethal, you go with "but its what my char would do" - that standing restraining order is for your safety, nothing else. :) Could certainly get some mileage out of that one...(I know the flavor points in a more thug-gy direction, but that "rash, unexpected action" thing is totally Chaia)

Female Elf Wizard (primalist) and Spellscar Oracle 3 (Gestalt) HP 30/30 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | CMD 14 | F +3 R +5 W +3 | Init +3| Perc +1

I kind of like that, now that you mention it. I do think I'd like to hold on to Acrobatics, just in case, but I'm not averse to the idea of taking Extra Traits as a feat choice at some point.
And I could refluff 'Unabashed Gall' as 'Ingénue.' :)

@Weapons - Mostly looking to know where they have their weapons.

On their belts? Or holding them in their hands? Maybe even in a pile next to them?

Matters a lot if we were trying to shenanigan away the weapons somehow. But I don't think it will matter this time ^^

@Magical Wizard Attack - Go for it : )

Hi, folks. I'm afraid the internet is down in my part of the world this weekend (I can't believe I'm actually writing this - in San Diego, of all places!), so I may not be able to post again until Monday, when I'll be on the road but might be able to find a place with WiFi. In the meantime, I'm trying to avoid blitzing through all the data on my phone for work too, and making kitten eyes at baristas and such in places where I'm able to vamp someone else's connection, where they opted for a more reliable provider than the place I'm staying.

Darn, I'm sorry I was too late! Just getting back to civilization at last and settled back in to my regular schedule. And to top it all off, managed to catch a bug on the flight home that I'm only just starting to shake off. Ah, well.

Anyway, going forward, if ever Chaïa has spell slots left at the end of the day and we need healing, folks can just call dibs and help themselves, I think.

@Chaia: Basically, a rule that avoids deadlock in Go.
In short, you don't go back to a situation you just had, and avoid cycling back to an identical board position. (specifics depend on ruleset used)
In our case, we were at the top of the elevator. Going back up, then, would place us again in a situation at top of elevator with the interesting parts to explore below. Of course, it does not exactly apply here since we could have switched out team members and sent someone else down, but practically, to keep going forward, we don't want to stall back into a previous overall status. :)

Gay Male Inhuman

I used to be very regular about my PBPs. Most days I could get to all six, though there were occasional slips where I missed that I had a declaration or RL intervened. The past year and change of my life have not been all that great, including repeated illness for myself and loved ones, a lot of difficult family stuff, and generally poor mental health. It’s been a regular crap tsunami. As all of you know, I’ve struggled to keep up even after shifting to resolving each game every other day. You have all been great; I just don’t have it in me to keep going as I have been.

Every GM makes a promise when they start a game that they’re going to be here and try to give you a good experience. This is me breaking it because I just can’t anymore. I have told myself many times that next round or next week I’ll be back on the d20. I recruited for replacement players on that premise. It hasn’t happened. You deserve better than I can give.

I’m sorry. Thank you all for putting up with me and I hope I was able to bring some happiness to your lives through these games. Know that you brought some to mine.

Don't worry about us - it was still really fun. You haven't broken your promise because this game, all in all, has been a good experience : )

We understand that sometimes things don't work out as planned and sometimes bad things happen. It's sad to see that things are troublesome irl for you - but know that that concern is because we enjoy the fun you brought us and only wishes the very best for you!

If you want to play some other time or just vent or send messages and chat or something please don't hesitate to pm me.

Thanks for the fun times and my best wishes!

Aye, I had fun.

Life is life, I wish we could have kept our promise to the teen ghost, but alas, he'll have to do compromise - we tried.

Anyway, thanks for telling us, and sorry to hear your life has not improved after all that happened. I keep a text backup of all my characters even if I re-use the profile.

So if you ever feel like things are better and wanting to give it another whirl, I'd gladly game with you again, even if it may be temporary.

Thanks for the time, and best luck in the future! May the tide turn.
