Saito Samson |
"Well, as long as I can avoid any stiff breezes I should be alright." Saito acknowledges.
Theran, Clan Silverlight |
Theran will pull out a small skin of liquid and hand it to Saito.

Maybe we should look in this basement for anything of value. They may have potent magic to use. At the very least, we could return what they took from the villagers.
unflavor-texted detect magic because I'm on my phone and running to work

The basement areas, for purposes of this looting post, are the ones at the bottom of the shaft. I'm fairly sure you had a chance to thoroughly search above. If not, I will accept wrathful, yet righteous, spankings. Also I'm going to assume identification is undertaken because why not?

May I see the spellbook? We can find out just the kind of wizard that dwarf was.
Saito Samson |
"Thanks for the help." Saito says before drinking the potion, his wounds still bad but helped by the elixir.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Yridhrennor closes the spell book. some of these spells could be very useful, indeed. Do we rest here for the night, or continue deeper into this bastion of evil? I am out of spells, but we all seem well enough to press on.
Steave Rojerz |
"Saito, please use the potions of healing that we found to regain your full health. Everyone, pick out what you want and let's go."
Steave will take a light crossbow and 20 bolts.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Yridhrennor takes 20 more bolts as well. Alright, we will triumph this day!

Shall we explore more? Bartalby Tharadalthor in his Annals of the Nefarious was of the opinion that Baphomet's cultists were never in simple shrines like this. Their cult centers seemed to be more labyrinthine.
Saito Samson |
"Sounds good." Says Saito. "We should finish what we set out to do."
Steave Rojerz |
When everyone is ready to go, Steave listens at and opens the closed door in their room.
Steave leads the way. I see two unexplored directions. 1. Through the door in the room where everyone is. 2. the door in the room closer to the entrance from the caverns. Right?

Looks right to me. There's the Due North door, where Saito's ambusher fled, and the northeasterly door right next to the NPC with the purple hair. (Anevia)
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Yridhrennor will also use his wondrous perceptive perception skills to perceive if there are any insidious doer of sinister perfidy beyond the wood portal.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
And Yridhrennor finds the door imperceptibly impervious to his perceptive peepers and ears.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
I think staeve picked the door in our room
Saito Samson |
Finally healed Saito cleans the blood off his blade and nods to his fellows that he is ready.
Samnell |
I think staeve picked the door in our room
Ah yes. Right you are.
Steave hears nothing at the door to the northeast. A remarkable smell greets him on opening it. Streaks of refuse stain the walls of the tunnel he discovers beyond. The tunnel slopes somewhat downward, though not as much as one would like for its purpose, and ends in a heap of rotting garbage.
Steave Rojerz |
Steave holds his breath and detects for Evil garbage. After a few seconds, he steps out for a deep breath of fresher air.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
What does Yridhrennor know about such garbage chutes?

[dice=Dungeoneering check]1d20+9+2 from familiar
Yridhrennor knows that they often attract monsters which feast on the refuse. However, such monsters are generally not aggressive so long as they're fed and left to their own devices. Many aren't even intelligent.
Steave Rojerz |
"Lovely garbage." Steave closes the door and heads toward the next door. He listens and opens that one.
Samnell |
Updated the map and cleared out some clutter. You still have a few unconscious mongrel cultists you can wake up and interrogate if you wish.
Steave hears nothing beyond the door to the north. Throwing it open, he knocks over a stack of taxidermied animals. He'd heard much worse clatter than the collection of rats, bats, rock vipers, cave lizards, and others still frozen in various poses. Past them he sees a chamber with worked stone walls. Stone shelves, former homes of the trophies, constitute the only undisturbed decoration. A pair of bedrolls lay spread on the floor. To the north he sees a ladder rising up in an alcove. To the east a door stands shut against the crusaders.
Steave Rojerz |
Steave opens the door wide and whispers, "We've a small barracks with a couple directions. Do we want to interrogate the prisoners for the way out of here before continuing?" He searches his feelings for any bad feelings in the room, i.e. detect Evil.
Theran, Clan Silverlight |
Theran will nod, "I'm not good at getting information. At least any way that I can stomach doing. But I'll stand guard."
Samnell |

Steave's senses again reveal no taint.
Steave Rojerz |
Steave nods to Theran in understanding. Then, while waiting for the rest of his companions to answer, Steave picks up a taxidermied rat. He gets the feel of its weight and underhand lobs the rat into the alcove where the ladder reaches. If something is alive up there, he suspects to hear or see a reaction.

wasted 20s?
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
We should question the prisoners. Yridhrennor blushes. Not me, of course... but.. um.. someone?
Falfaerel jumps onto the elf's back. Perhaps, Staeve, or one of the more... ahem.. comely.. of you should undertake the discussions
Steave Rojerz |
Steave stops whispering and speaks to the rest of the companions, "Alright, we have something alive in the alcove up there where the ladder leads. And we have two votes to interrogate the prisoners. Any preferences?"
Steave readies total defense if something goes out of the alcove
Saito Samson |
"I'm cool with what the group chooses." Saito replies.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Yridhrennor nods Perhaps we can do both? Let us watch this place, but questions the prisoners about what is up there. Then, we can be ready.
Steave Rojerz |
Steave's first questions: Diplomacy take 10+7=17
"What's up in that alcove?
What's beyond that door?
How many were you?
Who is the leader now that the guys down the rope are dead?"

The roused cultist glared at Steave.
"I walk the Labyrinth," he said. "All walk it alone. You are lost. When Hosilla slays you, the Lord of Beasts will feast on your souls."
Steave Rojerz |
"Who is Hosilla? Were they down the rope over there? If they were, I suspect the Lord of Beasts is feasting on their soul. Or are they beyond that door there?" Steave calmly replies to the cultist.
Samnell |
Well, that's encouraging. Do you have anything helpful to say?
The cultist smiled viciously.
"Who is Hosilla? Were they down the rope over there? If they were, I suspect the Lord of Beasts is feasting on their soul. Or are they beyond that door there?" Steave calmly replies to the cultist.
"Our Mistress of the Winding Way. She was above, praying and will slay you all." The a maniac gleam in his eyes, the cultist laughed hysterically for a moment. He stopped abruptly as he had begun, as though nothing had happened at all.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Yridhrennor refiles through his books about Hosilla.
Planes Knowledge: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

[dice=Planes Knowledge]1d20+9
Yridhrennor has never heard of any demonic magnate or other species of abyssal malevolence called by that name. He thinks it might just be a cultist's personal name. Few cults, even this close to the Worldwound, have actual demons in day to day control of them. He's aware of active debates among the relevant scholars as to why that is.
Abelard Lassmar |
Abelard sighs regretfully. "Well, he done gone and 'fessed up to bein' a cultist an' all... Don't suppose I can interest you in repentance and walkin' the path o' righteousness?" He asks the cultist.
Assuming the answer is 'no' to the offer of repentance, once the questioning is over, Abelard will slay them with regret but no hesitation: punishing unrepentant evil-doers is one of his duties as a paladin.
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Before Abelard strikes, Yeidhrennoe asks the cultist who Hosilla is.

"I walk the righteous path," the cultist said, perfectly content.
Before Abelard strikes, Yeidhrennoe asks the cultist who Hosilla is.
"Mistress of the Cut Thread, She Who Walks the Ways with Dripping Glaive."
Yridhrennor Arahaelon |
Is she your leader?
